If you want to have whiter teeth, keep these tips in mind.
 Don’t abuse sugar

Illustration. Get rid of the habit of using too much sugar right away, because too much sugar can damage your teeth. This isn’t just the sugar you find in cake or candy; This even includes sugar found in bread, beans, fruit and potatoes. Because of this, you should try to avoid overdoing it on overly sugary foods. If you regularly enjoy soda or gum, try sugar-free alternatives to help you cut out the sugar. Brush your teeth twice a day You may want to brush your teeth early in the morning as part of your morning routine, but that may not be enough. Brushing at night is also important, as it removes plaque buildup and bacteria that cause tooth decay and dental disease. Moreover, at night is the time when bacteria are very active, so don’t forget to brush your teeth twice in the morning and at night. Brush your tongue Your teeth and gums aren’t the only places that can harbor bacteria. The tongue is also a hiding place for a lot of bacteria. So don’t forget to brush your tongue and even invest in a dedicated, quality tongue scraper. Attention to small details When it comes to oral health, you need to take care of the entire oral cavity, including the tiniest things. If your gums look a bit red, if your saliva is a little different, or if you have mild pain in your mouth, consult your dentist immediately. Because those are all signs that the body wants to tell us that something is wrong. Food and vitamin supplements In addition to eliminating sweets and candies from your diet, you should include vitamins to create good oral health. You need to eat foods rich in fiber such as fruits, nuts, and vegetables. The best ones are apples, bananas, corn and peas… You should also use whole foods, which are packed with B vitamins and iron. In addition, cereals contain magnesium, a mineral that helps with calcium absorption and promotes tooth health. Eat seafood more often if you want to get more vitamin D. Salmon, herring, canned tuna, and sardines are good sources of vitamin D. Try coconut oil Coconut oil is a natural way to protect teeth against cavities, expel bacteria and restore enamel. Simply put a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth for 15-20 minutes until the saliva and coconut oil turn milky white, spit it out and rinse your mouth. Coconut oil does not reverse the effects of tooth decay, but it does help prevent cavities. Use effectively when combined with toothpaste and dental floss.

Plaque is a thin plaque that deposits on the surface of the teeth and sticks to the teeth or hard surfaces in the mouth. Plaque is a pigment that adheres to teeth.
One of the leading causes of problems related to oral health is the accumulation and formation of plaque on the teeth. Plaque that forms for a long time and is not removed can cause a number of negative effects such as tooth decay, bad breath, periodontitis.

Plaque formation process All surfaces in the mouth are covered with a glycoprotein film. In the early hours, they have a protective effect on the teeth, smoothing the surface, preventing the surface organization from drying out. However, this membrane provides a substrate for bacteria to attach to. In the soft tissue area, because epithelial cells are constantly shedding, this membrane is destroyed. In the area of hard tissue (teeth), this membrane does not peel off and bacteria continuously accumulate to create dental plaque. Plaque continues to grow due to the proliferation of bacteria already on the plaque and the attachment of other bacteria. After that, the bacteria can’t stick to the sterile membrane but stick to the bacteria already on the dental plaque… forming adult dental plaque. Therefore, not brushing or brushing improperly will lead to the formation of plaque on the teeth. Use dental floss to clean between teeth. Causes and factors that cause dental plaque There are many causes and factors that cause dental plaque, of which the leading cause is that foods and drinks are not good for the mouth such as containing too many sweets, containing many colors and causing stickiness on the teeth. Plaque formation occurs rapidly. According to a study from the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), regular alcohol consumption can also upset the balance of healthy bacteria in the mouth, causing the formation and appearance of plaque on teeth. . Due to improper oral hygiene, when the remaining food particles in the mouth are not removed in time, plaque will form on the teeth. The use of toothpicks instead of floss, causes the interdental spaces to not be cleaned optimally. In addition, with the unhealthy habit of smoking, oral health is seriously reduced such as bad breath, yellow teeth, and plaque formation. Pregnant women with hormonal changes, the mouth is more likely to develop and form plaque on the teeth. Therefore, it is important to pay more attention to oral hygiene during pregnancy, so that the plaque that accumulates on the teeth does not turn into tartar. Plaque that is not removed leads to dental diseases. How to remove dental plaque? Proper oral hygiene is the method to prevent plaque. It is recommended that you brush your teeth twice a day, once before going to bed, once after waking up, and for at least 2 minutes each time to clean your teeth most effectively. Use a toothbrush with soft bristles and avoid using poor quality toothbrushes such as hard, bristled bristles. Change your toothbrush at least every 3 months. Rotate the brush at a 45-degree angle to your teeth to easily get it below the gum line. Brushing time should last at least 3 minutes. Concentrate brushing on all surfaces of the teeth, so that plaque can be effectively removed. Use dental floss to clean between the teeth. Limit eating foods that contain a lot of sugar and starch, especially snacks that stick to your teeth. Visiting the dentist every 4-6 months along with oral hygiene, cleaning dental plaque is the way to eliminate up to 90% of the risk of dangerous oral diseases. Signs to identify dental plaque or not? Everyone has plaque, that’s because bacteria constantly build up in the mouth. These bacteria will take advantage of food scraps as well as saliva to grow. Plaque when combined with acids in the oral cavity, then, the enamel layer is destroyed and tooth decay is formed. Plaque that isn’t removed can also irritate the gums around your teeth, leading to gingivitis (redness, swelling, and bleeding gums), periodontal disease, and tooth loss.

You don’t clean your teeth at the right time of day

Illustration. “The brush should be the last thing your teeth touch at night,” said Edmond R. Hewlett, Dental Surgeon, professor at UCLA College of Dentistry. Snacking before bed significantly increases the risk of cavities if the food is kept between your teeth. Morning brushing is equally important. Saliva production (which has a protective effect) slows down while you are sleeping, which causes the bacteria in the mouth to multiply even faster. So, you need to brush your teeth regularly every morning. You need to brush your teeth twice a day for at least 2 minutes, and be sure to spend 30 seconds in each quadrant (upper left teeth, upper right teeth, similar to the lower jaw). Brush your teeth too hard Do not think that, just brushing your teeth hard will make the teeth more shiny and clean. This is a common mistake that many people often make, because teeth can not withstand strong external influences, so when brushing will also make teeth more vulnerable. In addition, you should also choose to buy brushes with soft bristles to combine with gentle brushing to achieve high results. Brush your teeth too fast On average, brush your teeth for 2 minutes or more and absolutely no less. Because if you brush your teeth too quickly, tartar or food plaque is still left, can cause tooth decay. So, brush your teeth gently and slowly for 2 minutes to comply with the principle of properly brushing your teeth. You are not using the correct type of brush Choose a toothbrush with soft bristles that can slide under your gums and dislodge any plaque stuck there, Dr. Hewlett recommends. If the plaque is not removed, there is an increased risk of developing gum disease. Brush your teeth with a medium or hard bristle brush, plus using too much pressure can cause the gums to contract and expose the root. Because the root surface is usually not as hard as the enamel-covered protruding part, rubbing the area can cause it to wear out more quickly and cause tooth decay, Hewlett said.

Lemon juice also helps clean the mouth, brings fresh breath, improves digestion, and loads more vitamin C for the body … However, lemons and acidic fruits like oranges, grapefruits, and tangerines have the potential to damage teeth. These foods are acidic, causing tooth enamel wear. At that time, the layer underneath the enamel is exposed. Weakened enamel is one of the leading causes of sensitivity and puts you at risk for tooth decay and other damage. The acid content in lemon juice is higher than many beverages that we think are harmful to our teeth such as soda, alcohol, coffee and tea. Things to do to reduce harm Lemon juice is delicious and healthy so you don’t have to give up. To minimize harm, doctors recommend brushing your teeth before drinking lemon juice; use juice from fresh lemons instead of concentrated juice; Drink through a straw and rinse your mouth with plain water after drinking. Artwork: She Simply Hot lemon juice is more harmful to teeth than cold water Hot lemon juice can help relieve the itchy throat. However, the rate of chemical reactions increases with temperature. Therefore, tooth wear will be more severe at higher temperatures. Do not brush your teeth right after drinking lemon juice “Once weakened by acidic waters like lemon juice, tooth enamel takes time to recover,” explained experts at Luminous Dentistry in Australia.

Brushing your teeth is a good habit but should not be done immediately after drinking coffee, carbonated water, orange juice, or lemon juice.
Brushing and flossing twice a day sounds like a simple task, but it’s easy to get it wrong. You may forget to shave your tongue, brush your teeth too hard or be lazy to change your toothbrush …

Also, there is one thing that damages the enamel – the outer coating of the tooth. That’s when you brush your teeth right after drinking coffee, carbonated water, orange juice, lemon juice.

Artwork: Clevelandclinic

Consequence

The four drinks above are both acidic and harmful to your enamel. Madison Kaplan, a dentist in California, said that if you brush your teeth for an hour after consuming one of these drinks, you can erode tooth enamel.

“Enamel is one of the hardest structures in the body, but brushing can weaken it. The filaments of the brush rub the acid against the tooth’s porous enamel, potentially causing permanent damage.

The enamel protects the more fragile, inner areas of the tooth, the dentin and pulp. This is the first and most important line of defense against tooth decay. If the enamel is damaged, you can experience tooth decay, sensitivity to temperature, and even tooth infection.

Prevention

If you’ve eaten acidic foods, the American Dental Association (ADA) recommends waiting at least 60 minutes before brushing your teeth. Acid-induced enamel erosion can occur if you brush your teeth when your mouth is overly acidic.

If you’ve just eaten something acidic and don’t have 60 minutes to wait before brushing your teeth, the ADA recommends drinking water or chewing sugar-free gum.

“Drinking soft drinks, juices, sports drinks or any acidic drinks leaves a residue on the teeth,” says dentist Kaplan. But ordinary filtered water can remove unwanted excess sugar. Water minimizes all bacteria that cause tooth decay in the mouth and dilutes the acid.

“You still need to brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes and brush your teeth clean, but drinking water regularly will help keep your teeth from decay,” the ADA said.
