Technology continues to play an important role in healthcare in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the post-pandemic period of COVID-19 and the country will set up a series of ‘digital’ hospitals ‘ Future.
This is confirmed by Mr. Ali Juma AlAjme, Director of Digital Health Department of the UAE Ministry of Health at the first Middle East Digital Health Forum held in Dubai recently.

Sinopharm’s COVID-19 vaccine is given to people in Dubai, UAE on February 28, 2021. Photo: AFP/VNA According to the above official, Big Data technology will help UAE health authorities control the COVID-19 pandemic more effectively. In the future, the country will have more “digital” hospitals so that people can access telemedicine solutions more often. AlAjme expert affirmed that the UAE has enough modern infrastructure to provide the best healthcare services. This is in line with the UAE government’s Information Technology Strategy 2021 and the National Innovation Strategy, which focuses on efforts to make the UAE a fully “digital” country. In addition, the “UAE Vision” plan also focuses on applying cloud computing to create positive changes in the healthcare sector. The UAE currently has two laws in place regarding healthcare providers. The first is the Law on Health Information Technology, which regulates the use of technology in healthcare. The second is the law on medical examination and treatment processes and procedures for parties building telemedicine systems. In fact, high-tech infrastructure and the development of the health sector are the “backbone” of the UAE in the current fight against COVID-19. Decisions about distributing preventive vaccines, opening field hospitals or building isolation areas are all based on digitized real data. Last year, the UAE Ministry of Health also implemented the Tatmeen digital platform to secure the supply chain in the healthcare industry. This platform helps to track medical products in the supply chain, helps promote transparency, prevents unauthorized or expired products.

Viettel’s technicians have installed 1,000 cameras in isolation areas of Bac Giang. Viettel Group said that, following the direction of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 prevention and control, within seven days, Viettel completed the installation and integrated connection of 3,000 surveillance cameras in isolated areas of the country. northern provinces. Particularly for 130 isolation facilities in 125 communes of Bac Giang province – the locality that is experiencing the most stressful situation in the country, Viettel has mobilized maximum resources to install 1,000 more cameras within five days, quickly. double the normal rate. All image data from the camera is integrated into a centralized management system at the Control Center. The system of application of cloud computing technology allows the National Steering Committee, the Provincial Steering Committee and the Management Division in the isolated area to monitor images 24/7 according to decentralization. By deploying Viettel’s cameras, epidemic prevention and control agencies can monitor all activities in isolation areas from the 24-hour management system, minimizing possible developments. The epidemic situation is more serious when the human and material resources for the province’s surveillance have been mobilized to the maximum capacity. To ensure the safety of officials, employees and society, Viettel’s technical personnel participating in the campaign at isolated locations are fully equipped with protective equipment for epidemic prevention, and trained in epidemic prevention skills. and at each point of staffing to carry out the whole process, from surveying the location until the camera is fully integrated into the centralized management system. After completing the task, Viettel’s staff members are isolated for 21 days at home according to regulations. Mr. Le Dang Dung, General Director of Viettel Group said: “As the country’s key technology enterprise, Viettel is responsible for contributing technology solutions to realize national goals. With the spirit of soldiers, we are always present on the front lines to ensure the safety of the people and society.”

Today, chips are in everything from game consoles and toothbrushes to washing machines and alarm clocks. However, the world is facing a serious chip crisis, showing no signs of stopping. Glenn O’Donnell, vice president of research at consulting firm Forrester, believes the situation will last until 2023 due to high demand and continued supply stress. He forecast personal computer demand will decline slightly next year, while data centers will buy more chips. According to him, combined with the growth in cloud computing and mining, the demand for chips is going to explode. According to Patrick Armstrong, IT director of Plurimi Investment Managers, the chip crisis could last 18 months. There are too many products that require chips such as cars, phones, IoT… All connected to the Internet. The car industry is affected more than any other sector. Earlier this month, the world’s largest chipmaker TSMC said it could catch up with car demand in June. But Mr. Armstrong said that was too ambitious. Ford, BMW, and Volkswagen all stressed they had production bottlenecks and couldn’t buy enough chips needed to build cars. Research firm Gartner predicts the chip crisis will continue until 2021, not to mention chip prices also increase. Analyst Alan Priestley said the situation could improve for some sectors in the next six months, but there could also be a “chain effect” into 2022. The semiconductor industry is doing everything to increase productivity but need time. In fact, Intel announced to spend $ 20 billion for two new chip factories in Arizona, USA. According to Mr. Priestley, it will take two to three years for these plants to operate but it will meet future demand. Reinhard Ploss, CEO of German chip maker Infineon, said last week that it “clearly takes time” until supply and demand balance. According to Wenzhe Zhao, Credit Suisse’s director of global economics and strategy, the recent chip crisis has encouraged inventory stockpiling in the supply chain, leading to a widening supply-demand gap. Not much can be done to solve the current situation, he said, except to adjust orders, production schedules and prices. Du Lam (According to CNBC)

While index Dow Jones is close to record levels, the index of companies providing cloud services is at its lowest level in six months. Stock price of WisdomTree Cloud Computing Fund, a fund that tracks the index of cloud services companies, includes 56 shares, down 2.4%, the seventh day of decrease in the past eight days (as of 10 / 5). Technology stocks began to sell out in February and sold out faster in the past few weeks.

IBM has just announced that it has successfully built the chip on a 2 nanometer (2 nm) process. This is the smallest but most powerful chip ever in the world.
According to IBM, its new microprocessor is the smallest and most powerful ever developed, the size of a fingernail but contains up to 50 billion transistors. The 2-nanometer chips will enter commercial production starting at the end of 2024 or 2025. However, this will not be early enough to alleviate the current global shortage of chips.

IBM’s 2 nm chip had a density of 333 million transistors per square millimeter. By comparison, TSMC’s most advanced chip with a 5 nm process has about 173 million transistors, while Samsung’s 5 nm chip is 127 transistors per square millimeter. Billions of transistors are found on each microprocessor, and the size of the transistor is measured in nanometers. The smaller the size, the more transistors the processor can hold, making it faster and more energy efficient. IBM successfully built a chip with a size of only 2 nm but the most powerful in the world. Most of the processor chips found on personal computers or smartphones today are manufactured using a 7 nm or 10 nm process. For example, the 7-nm Apple A13 Bionic chip has 8.5 billion transistors. Meanwhile, the A14 Bionic microprocessor manufactured on a 5 nm process is integrated with 11.8 billion transistors. More transistors on a chip give manufacturers more options to deliver core innovations, to improve performance for leading tasks like AI and cloud computing, and pave the way for security. Cryptography and encryption are hardware-enforced. The need to increase performance and save energy in every processor has never cooled, especially in the era of the cloud, AI and IoT. The 2 nm chip technology is estimated to achieve 45% higher efficiency, 75% lower energy use than the advanced 7nm chips currently on the market.

Microsoft redesigned its Azure cloud services icon Azure is cloud computing service developed in 2010, it is one of Microsoft’s online services. The new Azure logo represents the unity of Azure among Microsoft’s major product icons. It’s part of Microsoft’s intelligent design system that was launched in 2017 as Microsoft Project NEON. With 5 main areas identified by Microsoft that will create a new visual experience for users in Windows 10, including light, depth, motion, matter and scale. The logos in the intelligent design system are carefully crafted to create icons that look familiar to what customers know and love, and represent the future of Microsoft’s services development.

The virtual currency dubbed the ‘green Bitcoin’ of China is now available for mining on the cloud computing platform Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Chia is a virtual currency that recently emerged in China. It was created by the father of BitTorrent in 2017. This coin has created a hard drive fever in the country of billions of people due to the use of spacetime consensus algorithm (PoST) to mine virtual money.

Using this algorithm, Chia mining does not consume too much power because only the hard drive is free. Chia’s network has now mobilized more than 2,700 PiB (1 PiB = 1125.9 TB) of available hard drive space. Very quickly, Chia caught the attention of Amazon and launched a virtual money mining service in the cloud exclusively for the China region. The Amazon website also shows how to set up a cloud service to create a Split wallet, create a space, and how to mine in just 5 minutes. Dong Chia is being traded on a number of small exchanges with a large fluctuation range. Dong Chia started the validation process and allowed mining on March 19, a process known as the mainnet. At that time, Chinese miners flocked to e-commerce sites to buy hard drives and sold these items out of stock, mainly in the super-hard drive segment of 10 TB or more. And after about two months, Chia was officially listed on May 4 last with the virtual currency code XCH, starting price 1,700 USD. But immediately this currency must witness selling momentum causing it to drop in value to only $ 700 before recovering around $ 900 mark. Over time, with the Bitcoin fever, new virtual currencies are constantly appearing and being pumped, making it worth fluctuating up and down. The volatility of the virtual currency market is part of the reason that many countries are afraid of Bitcoin in general and virtual currencies in particular. Phuong Nguyen (According to CoinDesk)

Huawei is stepping up its efforts in areas such as cloud computing and smart cars in the hope that software will become a larger area of its revenue structure in the future.
In 2019, Chinese tech giant Huawei was included in the US Entity List, which restricted access to some US technologies. At the same time, Washington also cut off Huawei’s supply of vital semiconductors.

Huawei’s pivot to software comes as its smartphone business has seen sales decline because of the aforementioned restrictions. On the other hand, behind Huawei’s push into software is also an attempt to isolate potential geopolitics and any other regulation from the US. Huawei hopes to expand the software sector in its future revenue structure Accordingly, Arcfox, a brand under the automaker BAIC Group, has launched a car with Huawei’s car technology. It is known that this new model owns a cockpit equipped with the HarmonyOS operating system launched by Huawei in 2019. Huawei has also advertised its HarmonyOS can work on various devices from smartphones to TV and car. As such, Huawei will not manufacture cars, but instead will focus on technology to power the cooperating car manufacturers. At the same time, on April 25, Huawei launched a number of new cloud computing products to challenge rival Alibaba in this segment. In a press release the same day, Huawei said it expects its focus on cloud computing to increase its share of its software and services business in the group’s total revenue. In pursuing sectors such as vehicles and cloud computing, Huawei will face challenges from some of China’s biggest tech companies. Such as Alibaba, Tencent are the leading companies in the cloud computing market in China. Baidu or Xiaomi are also “expanding” in the vehicle market. Therefore, Huawei’s decision to redirect takes a lot of time and resources. According to Neil Shah, research director at Counterpoint Research, “Huawei is doubling down on its transition to a software, cloud and services company. development just like Google “.

As the West seeks to block China from accessing technology, it has developed a plan to autonomy at least 70% of the volume of high-tech products.

China pushes up chip production for technology autonomy In addition to “Made in China 2025”, China also has a “dual circulation” strategy, with the ambition to introduce new technology standards different from the West. Fast but unstable With this new strategy, China moves towards a self-sufficiency policy, reducing dependence on foreign countries. Specifically, with semiconductor technology, China will mobilize its own human resources to develop a new-generation chip research, design and production network to disrupt the isolation created by the US. The trade war with Western countries is seen as a reminder to the Chinese leadership that the country cannot depend on imports but must develop domestic core technology and pursue leaps and bounds. technology, especially in essential industries like semiconductors. China has set out many goals to realize its ambition such as: fostering a contingent of domestic technology talent, building high-tech companies with global influence to expand the model of “sovereignty network “in order to strictly control the Internet. In addition, there is securing secure information infrastructure, enhancing state censorship and surveillance in the digital space, and building a managed and enhanced digital economy. network security capabilities. Beijing has also stepped up building a “digital China” towards fulfilling its future technological ambitions of the world in the fields of quantum computing, 5G, semiconductors, and blockchain technology. (blockchain), big data, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing and robotics. With the aim of accelerating the technology autonomy plan, China Development Bank prepared more than $ 60 billion in loans for more than 1,000 key businesses in its strategic innovation plan, and raised $ 30 billion for a new government-backed microchip fund. From March this year, news that Eastern Communications, a subsidiary of China Putian Information Industry Group (Potevio), will restructure and merge with China Electronic Technology Corporation (CETC) to make surplus. attention comment. The reason is that Potevio and CETC are both state-owned enterprises, run by the China State Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC). Potevio is an enterprise specializing in manufacturing telecommunications equipment, such as components for 5G infrastructure, server systems, memory, automatic teller machines. Potevio’s strengths relate to wireless communication and security. Meanwhile, CETC is the main supplier for the Beihou satellite system and is known to be a software and service provider for the Chinese military. The company also participates in the development of a Chinese version of the Windows operating system and develops many other areas such as the manufacture of semiconductors and antennas for 5G networks, and equipment for technology. self-propelled vehicle. The merger is intended to enhance the CETC’s resilience from US sanctions against the group’s companies, including Hikvision, the world’s top security camera maker. However, although China is actively promoting domestic technology development, it is difficult for observers to reach its goal of technological autonomy. In the past, Beijing had planned to spend 2.5% of its GDP on research and development, but actual spending has yet to reach that target. One area that has struggled with China is microchips, where most electronic products depend on it. In the past, Chinese companies were confused by the extremely complicated chip manufacturing process, so they decided instead of researching, they imported most of the necessary semiconductors. Over the years, although the government has supported the Chinese manufacturers to develop some chip manufacturing capabilities, the results have not been as expected. According to the Semiconductor Industry Association, Chinese chipmakers have received government subsidies of up to $ 50 billion over the past 20 years. Domestic companies also benefit from tax exemptions, free land, concessional loans, and priority purchases. Despite progress in chip design, China’s problem lies in its ability to produce high-end chips. China is currently only able to make mid-range chips because making semiconductor chips requires high precision. Many doubts The gradual technological autonomy has led China to a bolder plan: to export technology abroad. The dominant Chinese products in the world market are drones, laser equipment, equipment used in space technology, 3D printing, telecommunications equipment … China has taken advantage of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to implement this plan. Through the BRI, in Africa, China provides loans, exports technology and builds infrastructure to countries such as Guinea and Kenya, while exploiting the natural resources of the leading country. private. China has organized a number of technology fairs, digital economy with many countries participating in BRI such as: Digital technology fair with 17 countries in Central and Eastern Europe belonging to Group 17 + 1; Digital technology forum with 5 countries in Central Asia including: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan. These fairs aim to launch 1,334 digital and information technology projects along the “Digital Silk Road” corridor with 3 continents of Asia – Europe – Africa, of which, the focus is on regions. : Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Central Europe, Eastern Europe and East Africa. At the same time, to deploy new types of technology such as Internet connecting things, big data, digital infrastructure and project “Smart Africa” with 26 countries in Africa. Major Chinese technology companies such as Huawei and ZTE expand their “Digital Silk Road” plan through Chinese-built fiber-optic networks, as well as equip local authorities with monitoring tools. Internet monitoring and censorship. There are no official technology export statistics for 2020, but the most recent report said that in 2019, China’s technology exports reached a trade value of 32.1 billion USD, equivalent to import value. This is a miraculous development, because 6 years ago, the proportion of export – import was 1 – 2. However, the technology “made in China” still caused many doubts. Observers say that Chinese companies are exporting “next generation surveillance systems” in several regions of the world, including Latin America. Venezuela alone, with the help of Chinese telecommunications conglomerate ZTE, has built up a database that can track citizens’ behavior through citizenship. The use of big data for security purposes is acceptable to the general public in South America, but after being widely used, those systems can be misused for espionage purposes. Moreover, according to observers, the Chinese technology industry, although developing rapidly, is not stable. This country has not mastered the technology of new generation chip production that the US, Japan, and South Korea are very proficient in. China’s domestic chip production will only meet 15.9% of the country’s demand in 2020, said IC Insights, a semiconductor research company in the US, compared with 15.1%. in 2014.

Vietnam currently has a total of 5 Data Center systems meeting Uptime Tier 3 standards. However, this is the first time a Data Center in Vietnam has met both Uptime Tier 3 standards in design and construction.
HTC International Telecommunication Joint Stock Company (HTC-ITC) has officially put into operation the ecoDC data center (Eco Data Center) in Lang high-tech park – Hoa Lac (Hanoi).

This is the first data center in Vietnam that meets Uptime Tier 3 standards in both design (TCCD) and construction and operation (TCCF).

Uptime Tier 3 is the 3rd on the Uptime Institute’s four-tiered data center scale.

Launching ceremony of ecoDC data center. Photo: Trong Dat

To achieve this standard, a Data Center system must ensure uptime (uptime) of 99.982% or more and downtime (downtime) not more than 1.6 hours per year.

In addition, this system must be capable of redundancy to still be able to operate if the power is lost for up to 72 consecutive hours.

To meet the strict standards of Uptime Institute, ecoDC uses 100% of infrastructure equipment from two strategic partners, Delta and Arista.

Besides, this Data Center also uses an inrow cooling system. This is an energy saving technology for the first time deployed in Vietnam with the ability to control the cooling temperature to each server.

This system includes air conditioning running along the rack with hot air intake assist. Thanks to that, ecoDC can increase cooling efficiency and reduce power consumption.

Vietnam has the first data center with 2 Uptime Tier 3 standards. Photo: Trong Dat

Vietnam currently has a total of 5 Data Center systems meeting Uptime Tier 3 standards. However, these systems only meet Uptime Tier 3 standard in terms of design.

This data center costs the developer about 100 billion VND. Currently, the system has been completed with 6 PODs (box-type data centers) with a total of 150 racks (network cabinets). EcoDC will officially launch and start operating from April 2021.

Sharing at this event, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung said that the ecoDC data center meeting both Uptime Tier 3 standards in design and operation is a serious work result of HTC-ITC. This will also be a solid step in the process of transforming the number of countries.

According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Huy Dung, in order to have a lasting and strong development, enterprises must associate their mission with the national one.

Vietnam is implementing digital transformation, moving all activities from real space to cyberspace, from real to digital environment.

Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung. Photo: Trong Dat

In the National Digital Transformation program, the Ministry of Information and Communications determined that Vietnam must develop digital infrastructure, including broadband telecommunications infrastructure, cloud computing, electronic identification and authentication. Vietnam is also realizing the vision that each citizen has a smartphone, each household has an Internet fiber optic cable connection.

The most fundamental difference between telecom and digital infrastructure is data centers and cloud computing platforms that make IT a service accessible to everyone.

In that process, businesses need to receive the mission that is in sync with the country’s mission.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Huy Dung suggested, as an enterprise providing basic infrastructure, HTC-ITC should soon work with functional units of the Ministry of Information and Communications to meet the technical requirements set forth for the ensure network operation and safety.

As a platform provider, HTC-ITC assumes the mission of being a “giant shoulder” for small and medium enterprises and for the Vietnamese digital transformation process.
