The contest starts from June 4, 2020 to May 31, 2021. Up to now, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper has published nearly 50 enthusiastic and quality articles written by experts in many fields.
In the 2nd contest “Listen to people’s plans”, in order to gradually deepen the content of the long-term plans that Ho Chi Minh City has been implementing, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper distinguishes into 3 topics: smart city”, “Start-up – trademark of Ho Chi Minh City”, “Cultural identity of HCMC urban”.

Improve quality of life Immediately after opening the contest for the second time, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper has received many articles from experts, scientists and businesses. Each work is a plan, solution, idea or contribution to Ho Chi Minh City. Writing about the strategy of building a smart city, Assoc. Prof-Dr. Tran Hung Son (University of Economics and Law, VNU-HCM) suggested that Ho Chi Minh City should propose and coordinate with the central government to build a legal framework for the city. nationwide smart city governance, as well as regulations to manage technology risks; increase revenue and diversify financial sources for smart city development; develop human capital and promote the inclusivity of digital technology… Awarding the 1st “Listening to the people’s design” contest Photo: HOANG TRI Dr. Son Thanh Tung and MSc Truong Thanh Thao said that improving the quality of life is the goal of building a smart city through the provision of public services and urban utilities more efficiently. The trend of smart city development needs to be integrated with the social city trend. In which, the participation of people in community activities and in the decision-making process is a key issue in order to create a just society. Focusing on green areas in urban areas can be considered as a premise to build a smart city – a green city, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan, MSc. Vo Thanh Tuyen (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) VNU-HCM) proposes to include green criteria in planning, design and construction in all types of housing, regardless of resettlement, social housing or commercial housing. Ho Chi Minh City can consider encouraging solutions to have more green building investors with the goal of sustainable development… “Maestro” in entrepreneurship Ho Chi Minh City has strongly revived the spirit of entrepreneurship, what needs to be done now is to solve the problem of starting a business effectively. According to Dr. Huynh Trung Minh, Ho Chi Minh City can become a “conductor” who plays the role of connecting the “leading cranes”, “eagles” with start-ups; creating an environment to attract excellent start-up ideas… Ho Chi Minh City has enough scope and resources to become a start-up center, an innovation center of the whole country, attracting talents, importantly, how do and when to do. CEO Tran Anh Tuan (The Pathfinder Consulting Company) commented that a “chief architect” is needed to design the startup system in Vietnam to draw a general picture of startups as well as the startup process. for each field, standardized curriculum for each field, mentor training program, ecosystem building strategy. Along with that is a support mechanism for start-ups to promote. Sihub CEO Huynh Kim Tuoc affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City has a full basic foundation and is a connection point between the country and the world, a gateway to access the world. What must be done is to remove barriers to start-up development and innovation. According to lawyer Pham Ngoc Hung (Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Business Association), in order to start a business to become a brand of Ho Chi Minh City, it is necessary to arouse creative aspirations and bring businesses a favorable business environment profitable and stable. Finding a unique identity for Ho Chi Minh City Many experts have also submitted plans for the theme “Urban cultural identity of Ho Chi Minh City”. MSc Nguyen Hieu Tin (Head of the Department of Vietnamese Studies, major in tourism, Ton Duc Thang University) analyzes the more modern the world, the more “flat” it is, the more it needs its own. Locating the culture of Ho Chi Minh City, finding its own identity, creating a highlight, bearing the “brand” character is one of the important things that needs attention and orientation in sustainable development in the future. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hau proposed to develop the cultural industry faster and stronger, turning Ho Chi Minh City into a modern cultural center of the region. Meanwhile, author Ton That Tho proposed to bring technology into museum activities. Because in the current trend, the “virtual” museum is a development trend, bringing the museum closer to the public, meeting the needs of online sightseeing and research. Implementing a “virtual” museum to lead the public to the “real” museum is the shortest and most effective way.

New technology garbage pick-up equipment works with a capacity of about 25 to 30 tons of trash within 8 hours.

Recently, the Waterway Management Center in coordination with Saigon Traffic Construction Joint Stock Company has operated new technology equipment in the collection of rubbish on the Vam Thuat River, at Ben Phan Bridge (Go Vap District, City). .HCM).

As noted by PV, there are three devices in operation to pick up trash, mainly water hyacinth and floating garbage. A device like a large barge has a garbage storage compartment and a pick-up crane. On both sides of the conveyor belt are fitted with two garbage collection wings, which help to put the garbage on the deck. In addition, the small garbage pick-up machine is operated by one person, moving the garbage and bringing it to the barge.

According to PV’s observations in just a few working hours tons of water hyacinths are collected ashore.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hai, Head of Maintenance Management Division, Waterway Management Center, said that for many years, garbage collection has contributed to reducing the amount of rubbish on the above rivers, gradually improving the regional environment. However, the garbage collection is still rudimentary, using a lot of manual labor, and the efficiency and productivity are not high.

Therefore, the unit has piloted operation of new technology equipment imported from the US. With this new technology, workers do not have to salvage manually but completely control by machine, collecting every two days, the capacity to pick up about 25 to 30 tons within 8 hours.

“This device will save manpower, time and collect large volumes, thereby increasing the economic efficiency of the city. Besides, it will also create a better image on the river compared to traditional garbage collection.” – Mr. Hai said.

Regarding the current difficulties, Mr. Hai added that in addition to floating rubbish and water hyacinths, there are large-sized rubbish such as blankets, mattresses, tables and chairs, making it difficult to collect trash. In addition, the river bank is not straight and flat, so the access of the machine is also difficult.

Mr. Hai added that the garbage collection system consists of five devices, of which two are imported from the US and three are researched and manufactured by a team of Vietnamese engineers. After the pilot period, the Department of Transport will report to the City People’s Committee replicated in the area. At the same time, the unit is also building a unit price that is suitable for management in the future.

Pilot garbage collection with new technology

Previously, on October 9, 2020, the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City held a pilot meeting to collect and collect rubbish on the Vam Thuat – Ben Cat river using modern equipment with new technology.

This equipment is proposed by Saigon Transport Construction Joint Stock Company to use in the spirit of the “Ho Chi Minh City people do not litter the streets and canals because the city is clean and less flooded”.
