<p> According to information from the Center for Intensive Care, female patient HTH (37 years old) was admitted to Bac Giang Lung Hospital on May 26 and given oxygen, but her disease progress was not good. On May 28, the patient was given HFNC (High Flow Oxygen Therapy through the Nasal Catheter). However, the state of right heart failure is very severe, must use high-dose vasopressors, diffuse bilateral lung damage, does not respond to optimal medical treatment. Therefore, at 4 pm on June 15, the patient was assigned to conduct ECMO placement. As the person who directly treats the patient, Dr. Nguyen Tan Hung &#8211; Deputy Head of the Department of Intensive Care and Anti-Poison (Danang Hospital), Head of the Da Nang Medical Delegation at Bac Giang Hospital said: &#8220;After placing ECMO, The patient was able to stop the vasopressors and improve the blood oxygenation index. However, the prognosis remains severe because of damage to both the heart and lungs. Previously, on June 12, at the Intensive Care Center, ECMO was placed for NTT patient (67 years old). The patient tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, then was admitted to Bac Giang Lung Hospital for treatment from June 3 with shortness of breath, cough, SpO2 85%, HFNC breathing and dialysis. At 12 o&#8217;clock on June 12, the patient was transferred to the 101-bed Intensive Care Center in a very serious condition, unresponsive to HFNC, so he was intubated, mechanically ventilated, but the patient&#8217;s lungs were severely damaged. spread on both sides.
