A scene from the farmer group’s video. (Photo cut from clip) A “fashion show” with “models” who are Chinese farmers wearing clothes made from vegetables and agricultural products is becoming an exciting story for Chinese netizens. In the footage shot in Chenxi County, Hunan Province, four women wearing costumes and accessories made from agricultural products perform a catwalk on a dirt road, with music and rural settings. The video begins with a woman holding a large horn loudspeaker and proclaiming: “Let’s welcome our village flowers on a dazzling stage.” After that, the group of women walked confidently towards the camera, wearing skirts made of vegetables, accessories such as guavas, loofahs and eggplants. They seem to have learned some catwalk tricks, like making cool facial expressions, not looking directly at the camera, and slightly nodding their heads when approaching the camera. The 1-minute show is the way these women came up with a way to attract buyers of agricultural products. Group of women performing homemade costumes. (Photo cut from clip) The video was filmed by a woman surnamed Xu and posted on the account Douyin, an application similar to TikTok. “The first person is my mother-in-law. I go third. We are all one family,” Xu said in the introduction to the video. “We make skirts out of vegetables and hats using what we find in the surrounding garden,” says Xu. The woman said she hopes the video “can make her life better”. “Our organic vegetables are not being sold very well. So I thought to use my Douyin account to promote agricultural products,” Xu said. On Douyin, many people praised this group of women as cute and commented that the world famous fashion events sometimes have to compete with them. Xu is one of thousands of Chinese farmers who already know how to use social media. Over the years, rural life-themed clips have become popular on online platforms. Li Ziqi became one of the most popular stars on Chinese social media thanks to his videos about the rural lifestyle.

Hard working conditions “Bitter” strawberries from Spain

Status: 10.06.2021 10:56 a.m. The seasonal workers on site receive only a fraction of the price paid in Germany for strawberries from Spain. The strawberry farmers say: The supermarkets are pushing the price. By Reinhard Spiegelhauer, ARD studio Madrid Strawberries as far as the eye can see and an intense fragrance that is so strong that it is almost unpleasant. A small refrigerated truck is parked on the way between the fields. Two dozen of a good 100,000 seasonal workers stand between the green beds, pecking the bright red fruits during the season. “It’s difficult in Morocco,” says the single mother Fatima. As a harvest helper, the Moroccan receives the equivalent of only six and a half euros per day in her home country – over 40 in Spain. Fatima canceled the agreed on-site interview that morning. She answers the questions via voicemail. Because her boss told her she couldn’t just talk to journalists.

“We don’t know what our wages are”

Is there any other pressure? Yes, she says, anyone who collects a battered strawberry will be sent home or even not allowed to work for a whole day.

We don’t even know what the wages are. Some say 42 euros, others 40 euros. “No, no,” says Manuel Reina from the farmers’ association in the shadow of the refrigerated truck. Everyone would be treated properly. The strawberry farmers even provided free apartments:

If individuals do not adhere to the guidelines, then it’s like in politics, the police or administration. A few black sheep cannot be used to identify the entire province of Huelva. A Moroccan harvest worker harvesting strawberries in Cartaya, archive image.
Union speaks of exploitation

Trade unionist José Antonio Brazo from the Andalusian Workers’ Union frowns. A few kilometers further on, from a railway embankment, he looks out over the endless sea of greenhouses. Silvery shiny plastic film to the horizon. The collective wage is systematically not paid, says Brazo. “We’re talking about exploitation here. In every village here there is a figure of Mary who is venerated – but in reality everyone worships the mammon.” In fact, a study by the Löning sustainability consultancy in Berlin found that harvest workers are often poorly paid.

Study: Supermarkets’ price dictation

Manuel Reina from the farmers’ association defends himself: Actually, the farmers are the “pinched” ones. You take all the risk, he complains. They would have to advance everything and would not get a reasonable price for their product. Farmers hardly see anything of what consumers pay for. One to one and a half euros per kilo of strawberries that went over the counter in the supermarket for six euros. The price dictation is also discussed in the Berlin study. For trade unionist José Antonio Brazo it is clear:

The red fruits, the strawberries, they are no longer sweet, but bitter.

I am the child of the field. Dozens of generations, both paternal and maternal, are farmers and live in the countryside. Honestly, I don’t feel proud or honored with that cultivated background. Farming is like trading, making salt, cutting firewood, fishing, working as a worker… that’s all. My grandparents and parents were not landowners, but they were also not part of the poor peasantry, so I don’t know how good that part is. But it’s definitely hard work, no one wants to. Running to eat every meal, many people do not have a piece of land to place coffins. It is different from the old poor peasants and proletarians of today. Full cover with super cars, play with enough fingers. As a journalist living in the countryside, I’m sure, in my hometown, 100% of the farming families who work in agriculture have food and property to escape poverty, that family must have a part-time job. other extremes: trading, working as a worker, buying aluminum and plastic waste, trading with the highlanders, or at least knocking noodles or “needle” as far as Saigon. Each worker only has an average of 300m2 of land (a few decades ago), now rescue melons, tomorrow rescue chili. Clean cut sugarcane planting cassava. Tapioca tubers are sometimes several thousand a kilogram. Rich is rich how? About the same size as Doan Nguyen Duc, he went to Laos to grow sugarcane, but his face fell. Yes, dream! In the rural areas, if they are not classified as “having money”, they are also in the category of poor people who are hungry and hungry, which are the following: teachers, healers, local teachers, fortune-tellers, traders of cows, sellers of pig bran, and maters. pig spirit… and so on. And retired, like me. Ah, forgot, commune officials too. I’m a rural person, have a garden, have a field, what do I do if I’m not a farmer? It’s not like day after day playing chess, drinking alcohol, carrying a camera around. Writing sloppy, sloppy poetry doesn’t mean anything. Write a newspaper and your children won the job. Research is “a late-night affair”, often tearing up work. Well, let’s do the gardening so that the little ones can snap clean vegetables in their meals. A little more, bring relatives, friends. Looking for flowers to plant in the yard, watching butterflies in the morning is the momentum, also like. In the afternoon, I went to the yard to water the plants with my grandchildren. After watering, take a shower and then eat rice, feel cool and gentle. But gentlemen, don’t think farming is easy. During my life, my father said; “Farming is a profession that everyone can do, but not everyone becomes a good farmer.” Nowadays, that is even more true. No matter how diligent and experienced a farmer is, he lacks knowledge about climate, organisms, soil, livestock, plants, varieties, markets, consumer habits, etc., how can it be called knowing? farming. My classmate in elementary school, living in the same village, came to my house to visit, saw me nursing melons, reminded me: When melons are about 1 meter up, you roll them into the ground again and then let them crawl on that rig. I pretended to ask: – What are you? – He is a real desk man. Scroll down to increase the rooting while saving the truss space. At this point, I burst out laughing, but said: Very outdated, sir. This melon crawls up about 1 meter to flower and bud. Crawling on corn stalks, harvested chilli stalks. I plant, choose only 1 fruit each wire. Listen to this, my friend has O eyes, A mouth, looks too funny. In the past, even though I was a wage earner on the street, I was still one of the best rice sowers in An Khanh hamlet, growing pumpkins (pumpkin), squash, papaya, and everyone in My Yen village. love. When I retired and returned to farming, thanks to the help of my brother of many hybrids Luong Van Minh Dao, I became one of the very few people (sometimes the only one who didn’t play!) who planted the seeds. The first ST24, ST25 (world famous delicious) rice in Quang Ngai, yield is not inferior to any other rice variety. Anyone who wants to try to know how delicious this variety is, please come to my house. The house has stock goby with pepper stock. Water spinach ball oil cake also. More wine. Tasty and bold. I wrote these lines while out in the field. Yesterday, we cleared the field at dusk, sowed the rice at dusk. This morning I went to the field to look again. Seo a few puffs to worship. Wash hands, face, face, go to the mother’s house to burn incense for the father, water the plants. Going to the wife’s house to burn incense for her father-in-law, mother-in-law and wife. Then back. That’s it. Try to add a few more life terms for fame. This life is so cheap! My Yen hamlet, last day of May, year twenty-one Refer to the newspaper Labor: The miracle of Vietnamese rice “After only 14 years, Vietnam has surprised and admired the world when it rose from a starving country to become one of the rice exporting powers. Especially in recent years, Vietnamese rice has continuously been at the top of the world’s best rice contest. It is a miracle created by Vietnam”. Nguyen Quoc Toan – Director of the Department of Agricultural Product Processing and Market Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) – said: Rice export output in 11 months of 2020 reached 5.4 million tons, worth about 2.85 billion USD. . In the rice export category of Vietnam in recent years, the export value of white rice accounted for about 40.3% of the total rice export turnover, Jasmin rice and fragrant rice accounted for about 37%, glutinous rice accounted for about 17.6% remaining. Japonica rice and Japanese rice varieties account for nearly 4.5%. “Farmers and production enterprises have focused deeply on quality, not on quantity; Right at this Winter-Spring crop 2020-2021, in the large fields associated with Trung An Hi-tech Agriculture Joint Stock Company in the provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region are sowing seeds, the company has completely eliminated plant protection drugs. ) with chemicals out of the field on a large scale, supported and accompanied by farmers, the agricultural sector, local authorities and consumers. Vietnamese farmers are the main force contributing to that miracle!

Locals say millions of rats in a New South Wales town are ‘returning to revenge’…

Fiona Adams, an Australian farmer, holds a rat that was killed by her dog. Photo: Sydney Morning Herald. As cats give up chasing mice and dogs risk death from ingesting rat bait, farmers across Australia have no choice but to improvise to deal with the raging rat disaster. For Eris Fleming, an artist and rancher on her family farm near Bakers Swamp in New South Wales, Australia, the creative approach was to create mini water traps – 15 – everywhere around my house. Mr. Fleming, 78, has seen the current large population of rats once before, in 1984. Although he initially tried placing rat baits like his neighbors, his German Shepherd “started eating the bait faster than the mice.” His dog started bleeding and needed urgent and expensive care to stay alive at the local veterinary clinic. “Vets are going to make a lot of money in this short time,” he said. Rats that have eaten bait will eventually decompose on the ceiling, in the walls and under the floorboards. “The stench is unbelievable,” he said. And so, buckets of water, narrow curtain rods coated with PVC and a layer of canola oil, and some peanut butter decoys, all designed to trap and kill rodents relentlessly. . Just like that, every morning, Mr. Fleming started by collecting dead mice, at least 300 a day. They will then be buried away from the house. It took him three hours a day to clear the bucket of dead rats, dig, bury the rats and reset the trap. However, he also saves time from having to clean every surface, such as clearing rat droppings off the table, and getting rodents out of bed or even out of the refrigerator. Several of Fleming’s neighbors followed his method, and they all reported massive exterminations of rats. Fleming currently counts only a handful of dead rats each morning, but the significant and welcome drop is probably more related to the fact that the rat population is turning to forage elsewhere, such as near Sydney than. Other techniques used by people in his county include a woman mixing powder with plaster to trick rats, although that still risks the rat decomposing in hard-to-reach nooks and crannies. Elsewhere, many people prefer to use traps made of expandable latex rings – like those used to castrate pets. Rats were killed by traps made of expandable rubber latex rings. Photo: Sydney Morning Herald. Improvisation will probably still be required as the supply of rat bait and rat traps continues to be strained. Rat-killer retailer Bunnings says demand started picking up in December and accelerated even further after April. “We have seen an increase in customer demand for rat control products across New South Wales,” said Belinda Rakers, Bunnings product manager. “Due to high demand, supplies are currently at a low level. However, we are continuing to work closely with our suppliers to get more stock in stores as soon as possible,” she said. In Neurea, near Wellington, Fiona Adams is using rat bait to at least keep the rats under control, but they still rummage through her barn at night. Her dog killed one even as she was talking to guests from the Herald visiting the farm on May 20. “I certainly don’t like them, but unfortunately, you have to get used to them,” she said. “They have cute little faces, but they are stinky little animals. Driving along the road at night, they are like toy cars.” Although the cold weather has begun to slow their growth, that hasn’t stopped them from eating all of the lupine beans Fiona planted on May 19, leaving only empty husks. For Fiona as well as Fleming, the scale of the epidemic was hard to imagine for many in Sydney and elsewhere. Rats can breed after just six weeks and then lay multiple litters within three weeks, triggering a population explosion. Farmers in the area who sold their livestock turned to hay production to take advantage of the bountiful rains, but only saw entire haystacks eaten by rats within a few months. After all, it will be up to science rather than temporary or other methods to control such a massive rat population explosion. “The only way you can prevent this is by doing research,” Mr. Fleming mused.

The Cuu Long Delta is the largest agricultural production area (rice, fruit trees, vegetables) in Vietnam. It also has a good climate all year round, so it is possible to travel in all four seasons.
Fresh food, plenty of fruit is another advantage. Besides, the scenery of rice fields, villages, floating markets; OCOP specialties… very suitable for agricultural experience tours…

In order to promote and introduce potential strengths, Ca Mau province has passed events, cultural, sports, tourism and commercial activities to domestic and foreign tourists, including the event “Perfume” U Minh forest”. Currently, U Minh Ha forest land still ranks first in the freshwater ecosystem in the Mekong Delta. In particular, this place also has a traditional job of guarding bees, associated with the U Minh Ha honey brand known to the whole country. Mr. Pham Duy Thanh (living in Khanh Binh Northwest commune, Tran Van Thoi district), said that when coming to the Melaleuca forest area, the most interesting thing for tourists is to eat bees for honey. Beekeeping is a family tradition. Before developing into a tourism product, this was the main income earner for Mr. Thanh’s family. “Being introduced to friends all over the world, the special traditional craft of our homeland is a great happiness for us,” said Mr. Thanh. Through activities in the event “Fragrance of U Minh Forest”, Ca Mau wishes to help visitors experience and discover the rich products of the land of U Minh Ha. Thereby, promoting and introducing potentials and strengths of U Minh district through cultural, tourism, culinary and commercial activities. Creating conditions for businesses to meet, connect, expand links, cooperate in tourism development, attract investment in developing product brands, improve competitiveness with localities in the province… Tourists visit and experience the activities of guarding bee trusses in U Minh Ha forest (Ca Mau). On the basis of promoting the potential of local agricultural strengths, Bac Lieu also finds resources to exploit the cultural and landscape characteristics of rural areas to form attractive agricultural tourism products. Visitors can visit and experience such as visiting Bac Lieu longan garden as a typical example. Located 6km from the center of Bac Lieu city, stretching nearly 7km along the coastal route from Nha Mat ward to Vinh Trach Dong commune with an area of over 50 hectares. The highlight here are the longan gardens with many ancient longan roots, with trees up to hundreds of years old. In addition, a rural setting typical for the countryside of the Mekong Delta creates an attractive agro-ecological space that can organize diverse tourism activities, such as: weekend breaks, culture , ecology, cuisine… Currently, Bac Lieu longan garden area has implemented a project to preserve ancient longan associated with tourism development in Giong longan tourist area with over 1,110 original longan trees owned by 48 households in Hiep Thanh commune and Vinh Zedong. Or sightseeing tours associated with mangroves, agro-ecology, fishery combined with visiting wind power are also developed by Bac Lieu province. Due to its natural features, Bac Lieu’s sea does not have natural beaches, but has unique features of the mangrove ecosystem such as the mangrove landscape with interlaced canals, a system of farms and areas. aquaculture. Especially wind power projects in coastal areas… These areas can be exploited for tourism development in the form of resort resorts associated with agro-ecology, visiting wind power, directly experiencing the life of coastal residents such as: fishing, fishing, etc. , catch shrimp or catch clams… Recently, Dong Thap province has emerged as one of the localities with a rapid breakthrough in tourism development. Although there are not many famous scenic spots, but with the advantage of agriculture, the enthusiasm of the people of Dong Thap province has many good ways to “retain” tourists when coming to the land of pink lotus. As a purely agricultural province, agriculture is considered a key economic sector to help Dong Thap province promote economic development. However, in the past few years, many farmers have shifted to develop agricultural production along with tourism. The new economic model not only helps farmers in Dong Thap province to improve their income, but also improves farmers’ thinking about agricultural economic development. According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Thap province, over the past time, the agricultural tourism model has helped farmers in Dong Thap province to improve their income many times higher, a part of farmers in Dong Thap province is gradually switching from agricultural production. purely agricultural economic model. In the period from 2016 to 2020, the orchard attractions in the province have welcomed over 150,000 tourists with a total revenue of over 43 billion VND. This is a clear demonstration that developing agricultural tourism is a promising new direction to help Dong Thap province extend the value chain of agricultural production. Many farmers in Dong Thap also expressed that they develop tourism not only for economic benefits but also for responsibility and pride for their homeland. When doing tourism besides agricultural production, what they receive is not only immediate profits but also useful information through contact with tourists… Tourists visit and experience the activities of guarding bee trusses in U Minh Ha forest (Ca Mau). One of the places with many agricultural tourist attractions when coming to Can Tho city is Phong Dien district. This place not only has My Khanh tourist village with many games and attractive dishes, but also many households doing eco-tourism, concentrated in the hamlets: My Hoa, My Nhon and My Ai (My Khanh commune). . The owner of Hoang Anh fruit garden belongs to farmer Vo Hoang Thanh. Having opened a restaurant to sell food and drinks to people in the neighborhood, 7 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Thanh boldly invested in gardens, dug fish ponds and formed an ecological area to serve tourists. This ecological garden is located on the banks of a 6,000m² wide canal, growing all kinds of fruit trees, such as: green grapefruit, dragon fruit, pineapple (pineapple), papaya, custard apple… Not far away is a 1.2 hectare garden planted and maintained by Mr. Lam The Cuong (My Ai hamlet, My Khanh commune) for more than 60 years. In the garden, he built small houses so that visitors could stay overnight… Can Tho currently has over 32 tourist garden sites and dozens of households doing community tourism. This is a type of tourism developed on the basis of cultural values of the community, managed, exploited and benefited by residents. The city’s tourism development goal is to help people increase their income, improve their lives, exchange and exchange cultures, contribute to socio-economic development… According to Mr. Nguyen Khanh Tung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, community tourism development in Can Tho will not follow the general model but depending on the natural conditions and characteristics of each locality to build a model. fit. In which, it is necessary to clearly identify the subject of community tourism activities as the local people, the indigenous cultural identity is the core value. “We will survey and re-locate potential areas for community-based tourism, from which there will be a proposal to build a community development tourism project for Can Tho,” said Mr. Tung.

The Queen Soursop variety, also known as Thai custard apple, Thai Na has an imported origin, with the features of large fruit, beautiful design, juicy and easy to sell flesh, so many farmers in Ninh Thuan province choose to plant for raise income.

According to the planting experience of households in Phuoc Vinh commune, Ninh Phuoc district, custard-apple is quite well adapted to sandy soil as well as hot and dry local climate. Plants are easy to care for, resistant to many types of pests and diseases, cost less to buy fertilizers and fertilizers. After nearly three years of care, custard-apple harvested the first fruit, the average weight per fruit from six ounces to more than 1 kg. When ripe, fruit is very fragrant, sweet taste, chewy flesh, few seeds, less cracking when ripe, so it is easy to harvest and transport. Trees are propagated by grafting method. During the care process, it is necessary to provide enough water to irrigate the plants, especially in the dry season, to prevent weeds, mealybugs and thrips. In order for the tree to produce beautiful fruit and to limit pests and diseases, growers need to carry fruit since the fruit is as big as a chicken egg, and at the same time use a support tree so that the custard-apple tree will not break its branches when the fruit is large. The initial investment cost (including seeds, fertilizers, plant protection products) to plant a sao of custard-apple is about 10 million VND, about 80 to 100 trees / pole. Usually three years after planting, the Queen soursop gives fruit, the time from flowering to fruit harvest is about 5 months. Each tree gives harvest from 30 to 40 kg / crop and increases gradually as the tree grows. After harvesting is complete, it is necessary to prune, create canopy, fertilize and supplement nutrients so that the plants begin to flower for the next season. Queen custard apple has a purchase price of two to three times higher than that of our custard apple, about 60 to 70 thousand dong / kg; On holidays, Tet the selling price is higher. It is known that Ninh Thuan currently has nearly 18 hectares of new varieties of custard apple and more than 341 hectares of custard apple. In order to improve the production efficiency for the people, the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center is implementing seedling support programs, training on intensive farming techniques of Empress Soursop in the direction of VietGAP, guiding techniques for watering. saving, pollinating flowers, ways for plants to flower off-season, fruit wrapping techniques, preserving fruit after harvest to provide quality products to the market.

This morning (May 8), Can Loc district held a conference to evaluate the effectiveness of the transplanter model, to deploy the project of production in the summer-autumn crop 2021. In the spring crop of 2021, the People’s Committee of Can Loc district directed the Division of Agriculture and Rural Development, Center for Science and Technology Application and Plant Protection, People’s Committees of Tung Loc, Son Loc, Xuan Loc, Kim Song Truong Communes in coordination with Trung Hoa Cooperative (Nghen town) surveyed, selected implant application model for production. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung – Director of Ha Vang Cooperative, Vuong Loc Commune: Thanks to the application of transplanters in production, this spring crop yield increased much more. Accordingly, the spring crop of this year the district has 53.36 ha implanted by machine and used varieties: Nep 98, Thai Xuyen 111; ADI 168 and XT 28 (implemented by Mitraco Seed Company with an area of 2 ha). To use the transplanter, Trung Hoa Cooperative used an automatic continuous seeding machine to North the tray. The transplanter was 30cm from the row, 18cm from the clump, an average of 1 transplanter per day was 2.5-3 ha. Due to transplanting of young seedlings, roots are not damaged, so the time for rice to set roots is faster, the transplanter is sparse, spaced evenly so that the rice grows and develops well, and there are few pests and diseases. Through the assessment, compared with traditional cultivation, the model for the theoretical average yield is 93.43 quintals / ha, higher than the control 7.78 quintals / ha; reducing more than 10,320,000 VND / ha / crop in costs and labor costs for farmers. Vice Chairman of People’s Committee of Can Loc district Bui Huy Cuong: This is a new technical advance in agricultural cultivation, so it is recommended that communes and towns continue to promote propaganda, direct and guide farmers to use new farming equipment in their products. Collecting organic by-products, serving microbiological organic fertilizer factory with capacity of 100,000 tons / year All are aimed at forming a circular economic chain in agriculture. After nearly thirty years of hard work with organic agriculture, with the fire from the head, Chairman of Que Lam Group Nguyen Hong Lam, up to now, Que Lam has built a circulating agricultural ecosystem. Farming and Ranching. That ecosystem includes 14 member units operating throughout the country, to both Cambodia and Laos, 8 microbiological organic fertilizer factories, and thousands of models linked with farmers in provinces. and especially the 4F complex in Thua Thien – Hue province, the first 4F complex in Vietnam. It is important that with the persistence and steadfastness on the journey of organic farming, the Que Lam Group has contributed to changing the perception and thinking of farmers, scientists, and managers in this field. . If in 2018 there were only 32 provinces accompanying Que Lam on an area of nearly 60,000 hectares of crops, by 2020, 51 provinces and cities will join in on an area of more than 100,000 hectares. These are very encouraging results, showing that awareness of an organic agriculture has changed the landscape of agricultural production in Vietnam.

Test results using unmanned aerial vehicles (MBKNL) HLD18 spraying plant protection agents (plant protection) to prevent major pests on rice in Nam Dinh province initially showed that this device saves 5 % of pesticides, 95% reduction in water compared to traditional spraying methods.
In particular, MBKNL helps farmers to save labor, minimize direct contact between workers and pesticides.

Proactive technology In Vietnam, since 2018, many localities have demonstrated the use of MBKNL in fertilizing and spraying pesticides for agricultural production. However, the results of using MBKNL in the field lack the stability, the accuracy of the equipment is not as expected, especially in the context that the current pesticides are mainly used for traditional spraying equipment, with the amount of mixed water many times higher … Facing this situation, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Defense assigned the National Center for Agricultural Promotion (NNNN) to co-ordinate with the Plant Protection Institute, Hoa Lac High Tech Research and Application Institute and its management unit. The Ministry of Defense carried out the task of “Completing the technical process of using unmanned aircraft (UAV) – HLD18 spraying pesticides on rice plants”. Close-up of the HLD18 drone and the field of Truc Hung commune (Truc Ninh, Nam Dinh) – where the demonstration of aircraft spraying pesticides. Photo: MN Close-up of unmanned HLD18. “If we use the manual method to spray pesticides a day, 3 people can only spray 20 samples. But now with this aircraft, we no longer have the trouble of spraying pesticides, the productivity is significantly increased.” . Farmer Nguyen Van Phong (Truc Hung commune, Truc Ninh district, Nam Dinh) Mr. Le Quoc Thanh – Director of VNA, said that this device is made in Vietnam, so we have complete mastery of technology, software, hardware and warranty, training “pilot” to transfer to units, cooperation groups, agricultural services … Especially HLD18 equipment ensures security and defense as well as the issue of licensing flight zones for equipment. To evaluate the results of the trial using MBKNL HLD18 to spray pesticides on rice plants, VNA recently held a demonstration conference on using MBKNL HLD18 in Truc Ninh district, Nam Dinh province. In the experimental field, the participants and farmers witnessed the “pilots” in the flight control technology demonstration service group HLD18 spraying pesticides with different flight speeds at different formulas. Experimental results show that using HLD18 aircraft helps to reduce 5% of the input pesticide, and 5-10% of water. The use of airplanes helps to control rice diseases effectively by quickly suppressing epidemics and saves time for pest management, and at the same time reduces rice yield loss by 1-2% / ha compared to spraying pine usually because rice is not trampled during the spraying process. The amount of pesticides sprayed by MBKNL on the soil and water at the initial stage of rice plant development has not changed compared with the traditional method. However, to a later period, the amount of pesticides on rice plants is higher due to the decrease of spraying in the environment. The working capacity of an aircraft HLD 18 ranges from 10-20ha / day. Replication At the seminar, Mr. Le Quoc Thanh – Director of NTPPR shared: “From practice, the biggest effect of the model is to isolate farmers from pesticides, thereby helping to protect people’s health and The machine helps to increase working efficiency, not to be afraid of the terrain, save water and drugs, and increase production efficiency “. Farmers and delegates visited the rice growing model using HLD18 drones in Truc Hung commune (Truc Ninh, Nam Dinh) Also at the conference, VNA awarded certificates to 18 trainees trained to control MBKNL HLD18. In addition to the above advantages, through the specialized agency model, the operator is also trained to use MBKNL equipment to serve farmers. The initial achieved results will serve as the basis for Nam Dinh province in particular and the Red River delta provinces to organize the replication, contributing to increase the rate of technology use in the field. As a unit with more than 700ha of area for cultivating hybrid rice varieties, Mr. Lam Van Chieu – Deputy Director of Cuong Tan Co., Ltd. (Truc Ninh, Nam Dinh) said, Cuong Tan is the coordinator of the project NN- 08II. In the process of implementing the project, the company sent staff to participate in the control engineering class MBKNL HLD18. “After more than 10 school days, trainees have been practicing directly on the rice fields of Cuong Tan Co., Ltd. and up to now, it can be said that the basic techniques of controlling MBKNL HLD18 to spray pesticides have been proficient “- Mr. Chieu shared. Also at the conference, TTKNQG handed over to Hai Duong Agricultural Extension Center and Cuong Tan Co., Ltd., each unit 3 MBKNL HLD18 for application of pesticide spraying in rice production. Ms. Pham Thi Dao – Director of Hai Duong Agricultural Extension Center said, Hai Duong currently has about 115,000 hectares of rice cultivation. The average rice yield is 745,000 tons / year. With the handover of HLD18 aircraft by VNA, this will be an incentive for farmers to be able to efficiently produce rice, reduce labor, limit exposure to pesticides while ensuring productivity.

Like, people are very happy. Mr. Tran Dang Canh, Director of Binh Hai Agricultural Cooperative, said that this was the first season that Binh Hai farmers participated in demonstrating the TBR97 pure rice seed production model of ThaiBinh Group Joint Stock Company.
Currently, melon is in bloom, on average, each pole brings income to people in Nghi Huong about 15-20 million VND. Photo: Thanh Phuc On the 3-hectare field of Dien Bien (Nghi Huong ward, Cua Lo town), people are busy, rushing to harvest melons in time to bring them to the market. This is a traditional melon variety, sticking with the people of Nghi Huong for 30 years. Nghi Huong watermelon has an oblong shape, when ripe, the skin is cracked, the flesh of the melon is smooth and fragrant, very “popular” with consumers. This year, the weather is favorable, melons are in good season and good value. After being harvested, melons are bought by traders at the field for 12,000 VND / kg or according to the fruit from 10,000 – 30,000 VND / fruit (depending on size). Compared to every year, each fruit increases on average from 3,000 to 5,000 VND / fruit. On average, each pole of melon gives an income of 18-20 million VND, excluding expenses, and a net profit of 10 million VND, 7 times higher than that of rice cultivation. Melons are purchased by traders from the field with high prices. Photo: Thanh Phuc Ms. Hoang Thi Hong, a melon farmer in Dien Bien, said: “Melon is a local variety, plant it by itself, takes little care of it, does not have to control pests and diseases and has a short growth time, only 1, 5 months (melon) and 2.5 months (main season melon) for harvest. Each year, 2 melon crops are planted, the main crop is planted from February to early April for harvest; The fruit season starts from May to the end of June for harvest. Compared with rice and maize, melon has many times higher economic value ”. Dien Bien block has 200 households working in agriculture, about 120 households growing melon. For the past two years, the area of the Nghi Huong people of melon has been narrowed down due to the land acquisition for the construction of the coastal road. Previously, the entire ward had 10 hectares to grow melon, but now it is reduced to 4 hectares. From the economic efficiency of melon plant brings and wants to preserve and develop local melon varieties, in the near future, Nghi Huong ward is planning to develop melon growing area on rice land. Cantaloupe Nghi Huong, Nghi Thach is a local traditional melon, which is especially delicious and different from new varieties of melon in other provinces. Photo: Thanh Phuc In Nghi Thach commune (Nghi Loc), there are about 10 hectares of melon, mainly concentrated in the villages: Xuan Lac, Xuan Hoa, Xuan Tien, Xuan Thinh and Trung Khanh. According to melon growers, melon has the advantage of not having to buy seeds and materials such as nitrogen, phosphorus or plant protection drugs. This plant only likes manure. Low cost while high resale price, so growers are profitable. Mr. Nguyen Tho Khang, a farmer who grows melon in Xuan Thinh hamlet, said: “This year, the heat comes early, the melon is consumed strongly. After harvesting, someone buys them right at the field. Many households sell to customers across the road along National Highway 46 to Cua Lo; import for beverage bars and retail in Vinh city markets with higher prices. My family harvests 40-50kg of melons every day, earning about 1 million VND “. Melon is present at local markets in Vinh city, is a cool fruit on summer days that many people choose. Photo: Thanh Phuc Currently, melon is in full bloom, every day on Nghi Huong melon fields, traders from all over Nghi Thach pour in to buy. People also actively connect with beverage shops to find a stable outlet for melon. Therefore, when harvested, melons are sold out. Only about 1 week to end the main melon crop, continue to do soil, sowing for the melon crop. Melon is a delicious fruit – nutritious – cheap – cool, both refreshing, good heat, and cures many diseases such as: Cure acne and pigmentation, smooth skin, cure insomnia, cough anhydrous, constipation … When buying, choose a thin shell, heavy-handed. The delicious and safe melons on the skin still have a thin layer of undercoat, emitting a pleasant aroma. If the melon is chemically soaked, both the undercoat and the scent will be lost.

At this time, people of Nghi Huong, Cua Lo and Nghi Thach, Nghi Loc (Nghe An) are on a mass harvest of melon with each pole earning about 20 million VND.
Attractive yellow – green melons have long become familiar with the drive wing along NH46 road down Cua Lo. These days, melons started to be sold a lot from both sides of the road to local markets.

According to Ms. Nga – a small trader selling fruit at Quan Lau market (Vinh City – Nghe An), this year, the weather is quite hot early this year, so people buy many kinds of cooling fruits. The amount of melon this year, although new at the beginning of the season, is consumed quite strongly. In the early summer, business households here sell for 15,000 VND / 1kg, or sell by fruit. When in the main season, the price can be reduced from 10 -15,000 VND / 1kg. Compared to the previous year, although at the beginning of the season, the average price increased from 3,000 to 5,000 VND / fruit. However, due to the short season, fruit quality and each time of harvest, the price changes according to … The end of April is the start of the melon season and lasts only 1 to 2 months. These are fruits that are rich in nutrients, have a strange aroma, are refreshing, heat and refreshments are effective. Currently, farmers of Dien Bien block, Nghi Huong ward, Cua Lo town (Nghe An) are focusing on the field to harvest melon, excited for the good season and the good price. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, a melon farmer in Dien Bien, said that melon is a traditional melon variety, sticking with the people of Nghi Huong for more than 30 years. Nghi Huong watermelon has an oblong shape, when ripe, the skin is cracked, the flesh of the melon is smooth and fragrant. This year, the weather is favorable, melons are in good season and good value. Melon here at the end of the season just need to choose the old ripe fruit, add the dried seeds, and preserve well that the next season can be planted. It is a pure local variety with little care, no pest control and short growing time, only 1.5 months (melon) and 2.5 months (main season melon) for harvesting. Each year, 2 melon crops are planted, the main crop is planted from February to early April for harvest; The fruit season starts from May to the end of June for harvest. Compared with rice, maize, melon has many times higher economic value. My family planted 1 sao of melon, except for the cost, it was about 9-10 million VND … people who planted melon this year were very excited, Ms. Hoa said. According to the experience of the farmers here, this is a traditional melon variety, so it tastes different from other regions. When ripe melons themselves crack soft, smooth flesh like sand, choose the best melon fruit with evenly cracked ends. Talking to PV, Ms. Hoang Thi Huyen – Chairman of the Farmers Association of Nghi Huong ward, said that Dien Bien block has 200 households working in agriculture, there are about 120 households growing melon. In recent years, the area of growing melon of Nghi Huong people has been narrowed down due to land acquisition for construction of the coastal road. Before that, the whole ward had 10 ha of growing melon, but now it is reduced to 4ha. From the economic efficiency of melon plant brings and wants to preserve and develop local melon varieties, in the near future, Nghi Huong ward is planning to develop melon growing area on rice land. Melon is a crop rotated with wet rice, bringing high economic efficiency. In the near future, the ward will mobilize people to expand. The Association will coordinate with specialized agencies to open training courses on planting techniques, care, pest control and product consumption for farmers, for the stable development of melon trees, contributing to improving income for farmers. Local people… Ms. Huyen said more. Not only in the area of Cua Lo town in Nghi Thach commune (Nghi Loc), farmers also planted 10 hectares of melon, concentrated mainly in the villages: Xuan Lac, Xuan Hoa, Xuan Tien, Xuan Thinh and Trung Khanh. The characteristics of this melon are yellow, green stripes, smooth or shiny, the flesh of the melon is yellow and smooth. Melon is in full bloom, every day on Nghi Huong melon fields, traders from all over Nghi Thach come to buy; People also actively connect with beverage shops to find a stable outlet for watermelon. Therefore, when harvested, melons are sold out. The selling price of melon is bought by traders at the field for 12,000 VND / kg or according to the fruit from 10 to 30,000 VND / fruit (depending on size). Compared with every year, each fruit increases on average from 3,000 to 5,000 VND / fruit. On average, each pickle pole yields 5 quintals, giving an income of 18-20 million dong, minus expenses and net profit of 10 million dong, 7 times higher than rice cultivation. Mr. Nguyen Van Nam, a farmer who grows melon in Xuan Tien hamlet, Nghi Thach (Nghi Loc), said: “After harvesting, people brought melon to customers across the road along National Highway 46 to Cua Lo; import for beverage bars and retail in Vinh city markets. This year, the heat comes early, so melon consumption is strong, the price is higher than every year, melon growers are very excited… ”. Cantaloupe, also known as cracked melon, melon is grown in many provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh and some northern provinces such as Vinh Phuc, Hoa Binh, Lang Son … This is a fruit that provides many nutrients for the muscle. can, effectively treat a number of diseases such as constipation, diuretics, sunstroke prevention, acne and pigmentation marks, smooth skin, treat insomnia, dry cough … According to the experience of farmers, when buying melon with a round shape, pick up the melon to feel firm and heavy, not soft. The stalk is new and not tarnished. Delicious melons are usually old melons, are heavy and firm with the aroma and cracks in the peel. Fresh melon is on the peel with a thin, fluffy undercoat, emitting a pleasant aroma. If the melon is young or pressed, ripe because the drug will have softness but not cracking, no characteristic aroma, no thin outer layer of undercoat …

The price of live pigs has dropped for nine consecutive weeks, and only one place has been firm! When can pig prices rebound?

China-Singapore Jingwei Client, April 22 (Dong Wenbo) “Pork prices have fallen for 12 consecutive weeks.” This is the latest data released at the press conference of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Consumers cheered, investors trance. On the evening of the 21st, the first quarter report of Wen’s shares disclosed that so far the operating conditions of major A-share pig farmers have been released. From the data point of view (including the forecast), since the beginning of this year, as the price of pigs has continued to fall, many pig companies that once stood on the vent to banquet guests from Zhulou have “collapsed”. The new hope will drop by over 90% In the A-share market, there are more than 20 listed companies that have been included in the pig industry chain, among which there are many meat products processing, poultry breeding, and feed production. Those who can truly be called “big pig farmers” include the current market value of “Pigmao” Muyuan shares with a market value of more than 400 billion yuan, Wen’s shares with a market value of about 100 billion yuan, New Hope with a market value of 80 billion yuan, and Zhengbang Technology with a market value of more than 40 billion yuan. And Tianbang shares with a market value of 20 billion. In the first quarter of this year, except for the net profit of Muyuan shares, which bucked the market, the net profit increased by more than 60%. The deepest decline is New Hope. During the reporting period, the net profit is expected to drop by 88.94%-92.62% year-on-year; the net profit of Zhengbang Technology is expected to drop by 66.32%-77.36% year-on-year in the same period. The first quarterly report of Wen’s shares showed that the net profit achieved during the reporting period fell by 71.28% year-on-year to 544 million yuan. It is Tianbang shares that staged a big “face change”. Its net profit in 2020 has surged 3131.98% year-on-year, and by the first quarter of this year, it is expected to fall by 50%-60%. Regarding the reasons for the decline in performance, these four companies all pointed the “culprit” to the pig price. Both New Hope and Wen’s said in their announcements that the sales price of live pigs during the reporting period decreased compared with the same period last year, and the increase in feed material prices and other factors added to the increase in breeding costs, resulting in a decline in the profitability of the pig industry. Zhengbang Technology bluntly stated that the main reason was that the price of live pigs during the reporting period declined compared with the same period last year. Tianbang shares said that the performance decline during the reporting period was that the price of live pigs decreased compared with the same period last year, and the second was that the slaughter structure of live pigs was different from the same period last year, which further reduced the gross profit margin of live pig sales. The pig price “falls endlessly” How much has the price of pigs dropped this year? According to the monitoring data released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, as of the 14th week of 2021 (April 5-April 11), the national average ex-factory price of white striped meat (hereinafter referred to as “pork”) is 31.36 yuan/kg, which is a month-on-month and year-on-year basis. It has fallen for 12 consecutive weeks, from 46.26 yuan/kg at the beginning of the year to 31.36 yuan/kg. The average purchase price of live pigs (hereinafter referred to as “live pigs”) at designated hog slaughter companies above designated size has also fallen for 12 consecutive weeks year-on-year. Although the month-on-month increase slightly increased during the week from March to March 7th, the overall price still showed a downward trend. 36.63 yuan/kg, currently 24.10 yuan/kg.

By comparison, in the first week of 2020 (December 30, 2019-January 5, 2020), the price of pork is 44.33 yuan/kg, and the price of live pigs is 34.72 yuan/kg. In the last week of the first quarter of 2020 (March 23-March 29), the price of pork is 45.77 yuan/kg, and the price of live pigs is 35.43 yuan/kg.

Affected by factors such as the African swine fever epidemic and the “pig cycle”, since the second half of 2019, the domestic supply of live pigs has tightened, and the price of pigs has continued to be at a high level for a time.

Driven by a series of policies to promote the recovery of live pig stocks, according to statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics, as of the end of the first quarter of this year, the country’s reproductive sow population was 43.18 million, which was restored to 96.6% at the end of 2017; the live pig population was 416 million, which was restored to 2017. 94.2% at the end of the year; pork production was 13.69 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 31.9%.

Regarding the recent sharp drop in pig prices, Chen Guanghua, deputy director of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said at a press conference on agricultural and rural economic operation in the first quarter that the price of pigs has indeed fallen a bit fast in recent months, and the price of pork has now fallen to this round. The lowest point since the recovery of pig production capacity.

Chen Guanghua pointed out that the main reason was the obvious increase in slaughter of live pigs, and the decline in pork consumption after the Spring Festival. Two factors, one increase and one decrease, met; in addition, there were also farmers who panic slaughter and formed a “stomping effect.” Chen Guanghua predicts that, on the whole, the most tight period of pork supply has passed. According to the current production recovery momentum, in June and July this year, the pig stock is expected to return to the level of normal years.

Follow-up rise or fall?

Pig prices are closely related to people’s livelihood. Will they rebound in the future? Is there still room for further decline?

In this regard, Chen Guanghua said that according to the trend of pig prices throughout the year, before and after the Dragon Boat Festival, as pork consumption increases, pig prices may rise. However, extrapolating from the number of newborn piglets in the previous period, it is expected that the year-on-year increase of fat pigs on the national scale pig farms in the second quarter will reach 50%. The market supply is generally abundant, and the price is unlikely to exceed the previous high.

National Bureau of Statistics spokesperson Liu Aihua said at a press conference on April 16 that pork prices have been the major factor that has pushed up food prices in the past two years, and pork prices have been declining year-on-year for several months. At present, the production capacity of live pigs has been significantly restored. The live pig inventory increased by 29.5% year-on-year at the end of the first quarter. The live pig inventory has increased sequentially for six consecutive quarters. The production capacity of live pigs has recovered relatively quickly. From this perspective, there is a basis for the continued decline in pork prices.

It is worth mentioning that starting from the second quarter (April 1), in order to prevent the risk of African swine fever spreading in the transportation link, the country has gradually restricted the transportation of live pigs. Except for breeding pigs and piglets, other live pigs will not leave the region in principle. Live pigs in the district must be selected and transported through designated routes “point-to-point” after passing the sampling inspection according to regulations.

At present, Sichuan, Hunan, Hainan, Guangxi, Shandong, Jiangsu and other places have successively issued “New Regulations for Live Pig Relocation.”

Zhongyuan Securities pointed out in the research report that the transfer of live pigs is gradually restricted, and the transportation of pigs from the north to the south has decreased, which has aggravated the pessimism of northern farmers, and superimposed slaughter companies to lower the price of pigs, leading to an increase in the decline. In the short term, pork prices are expected to be weak and volatile; as consumer demand picks up in the later period, pig prices are expected to stop falling and stabilize, showing signs of a slight rebound.
People in Quang Chinh commune participate in the green Saturday. Clearly define the construction of a new countryside (NTM), the ultimate goal is to improve the lives of people. The district motto is “People know, people discuss, people do, people check, people enjoy”; Along with many suitable solutions, the district propaganda and advocacy has been done quite well. Through propaganda and advocacy, farmers in Quang Chinh commune have made great changes in thinking, awareness and action. Over 10 years of implementing the NTM building program, the people of the commune have donated thousands of square meters of land to build inter-commune, inter-village roads, concrete in-field roads. All these roads are managed and maintained regularly. NTM building is only successful when people actually step in. In fact, the application of new production and cultivation models to increase income and get rich in their own fields has been enthusiastically joined by the people, many examples of good farmers have appeared. Hoang Van Chu’s household (Quang Chinh commune) invested in a rabbit farm. After more than 2 years, his farm has raised more than 300 animals, making a profit of nearly 100 million VND / year. Unlike Quang Chinh, Quang Duc is a difficult commune, in a remote and mountainous area with many ethnic minorities in the district. NTM building, the rural face of the commune has many prosperity. But due to many objective and subjective factors, some people here have not really shown their subject role clearly, still relying on the support of the State, abandoned and wasteful fields … The commune officer visited the rabbit raising model of Mr. Hoang Van Chu’s household (Quang Chinh commune). In order to help people here convert their awareness, besides persistently mobilizing people to restructure crops and animals, build economic models, train and transfer science and technology, support breeds and partly capital, Quang Duc has built up specific regulations for the support of economic models. The commune reviews and selects conditional households to support the application of breeding and farming models, and at the same time, those participating in the model must commit to implementing with high determination. In order to continue promoting the subjective role of the commune people to actively participate in building NTMs, Quang Duc Commune Party Committee has issued a resolution, focusing on raising income for the people. Each party member is assigned to be in charge of one village. Every year, if the rate of poor households does not decrease in any village, it means that the cadres assigned to take charge of the area do not fulfill their duties. Bac Phong Sinh border gate (Quang Duc commune) attracts hundreds of local workers every day. Mr. Dang Minh Tuan, Secretary of Party Committee, Chairman of Quang Duc Commune People’s Committee, said: Along with the development of economic models, the commune has created favorable conditions for children in the area to work in industrial zones. , Border gate EZs. At present, each household in the commune has 1-2 laborers working in border-gate industrial zones and EZs, which has helped improve the life of households, and the rate of poor households has decreased sharply. From the results achieved, the district continues to focus on solving the shortcomings, really enhancing the role of the subject of the people so that more and more typical examples of farmers, villages and communes appear to have good practices, efficiency in building advanced NTMs, model NTMs in the coming time.

These days, Quang Nam farmers are excited because pineapples are good for crops and at good prices.
 Good season

Going to Dai Son commune, Dai Loc district these days, wherever we go, we can see farmers hurrying to harvest the ripe pineapple fields after months of planting on the hillsides. Dai Son commune has nearly 700ha of pineapple cultivation, this is the largest pineapple cultivation area in Dai Loc district. This year, pineapple farmers here are very excited because pineapples are in good condition and sold at high prices. The best pineapples were sold by Ms. Ta Thi Thuy to traders. Ms. Ta Thi Thuy (53 years old, Hoi Guest village, Dai Son commune) said, her family has grown pineapples for 25 years, but there has been no strong crop like this year. “My family has planted 2 hectares of pineapple since September 2019 with a capital of 40 million VND. Up to now, 13,000 pineapple roots have been harvested. The price in the field ranges from 8,000 to 12,000 VND / fruit. Up to now, I have regained my capital and made a profit “, Ms. Thuy excitedly shared. And Ms. Nguyen Thi Bi (51 years old, Dau Go village, Dai Son commune) said: “Pineapple this year has a high price, doubled compared to last year. My family has just harvested 15,000 pineapple root, after subtracting all the expenses, the profit is over 100 million dong ”. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Bi, this year the weather has been erratic, but thanks to careful care, the pineapple is still growing well. Each pineapple weighs about 1kg – 1.2kg, compared with every year, it gives a higher yield. Farmers are excited because the pineapple crop this year has a good season and high prices. Many farmers added that the pineapple is very drought tolerant, considered the best among agricultural products. Most pineapples here are grown on the mountainside, sometimes up to 40 degrees Celsius, can burn red leaves, but the pineapple tree still clings to the ground, flowers, bears fruit and just a little rain is possible. lush right away. However, if the weather is favorable, grown on good soil and carefully cared for, the pineapple tree can grow well, achieve high yields. Pineapple brand Dai Loc For many years, pineapple has been considered as the main agricultural product of Dai Loc district and has become its own brand. Referring to Dai Loc fruit, many people will immediately think of this delicious and nutritious fruit. During the pineapple season, hundreds of traders from different places come to the fields to buy pineapples every day. Ms. Dang Thi Thu Hien (52 years old), a trader who buys pineapples, said that the reason why Dai Loc pineapple is popular with many customers is because it ripens by itself on the field, so it has natural aroma, guaranteed quality and safety. After the harvest is complete, the traders come to the fields to buy and sell all over the country. “Pineapple Dai Loc has large, sweet fruit with reasonable price, so many people choose it. Just 3 days ago, I purchased more than 10 tons of pineapples to be transported to the South for my customers and now they sell most of them, just urged to move in, ”Ms. Hien said. The nutrients in pineapple help strengthen the immune system, strengthen bones, improve visa … become a popular and friendly fruit in the summer. In recent years, people in Dai Loc have grown pineapples in the direction of spreading crops to supply products to the market until the end of the summer, avoiding the situation of mass ripe pineapples causing accumulation and difficult to consume. Some specialized farming areas in Dai Hong and Dai Lanh communes, always have products sold to traders and small consumers, bringing stable income to improve the family economy.

100% imported ornamental plants Hidden behind green vegetable farms in Xuan Thoi Son commune (Hoc Mon district, Ho Chi Minh City), the unique bonsai garden of artist Le Thanh Tam made visitors go from surprise to surprise. The 1-hectare garden is covered by Mr. Tam with countless kinds of poisonous and strange bonsai, almost none in Vietnam. Mr. Tam asserted that 100% of the plants here are collected and imported from many countries around the world. Ornamental garden with 100% plants imported from abroad. In order to have a garden containing thousands of different kinds of ornamental plants, Mr. Tam does not regret his efforts and money to continuously go abroad to collect for many years. One of the valuable monstera trees in Mr. Tam’s ornamental garden. “Before, when there was no outbreak of Covid-19, I went abroad almost every month to listen to the world’s bonsai forums and exhibitions. From these exhibitions, I have grasped information about popular and rare plants … From there, I selected and brought trees to Vietnam to plant and care for, ”he added. Mr. Tam introduced valuable leaf ornamental plants collected and imported from Thailand. Most of the poisonous and exotic plants he owns are imported from Taiwan and Thailand because these two countries have a climate similar to that of Vietnam, trees are easy to grow and grow. The new species that are popular today, he said, are almost not found in nature, but created from US biotechnology. After imported from abroad, this rare species of blood lure was “Vietnameseized” by the name of Hong Phat fortune. “So they are very unique, strange, and favored by the players. When buying, we are protected by tree copyright. These plants can not be crossbreed, cannot transplant tissues, so they are extremely rare “, Mr. Tam said. Before becoming one of the “tycoons” of ornamental leaves, owning monstera species, Mr. Tam was the “king” of South American colored pineapples and imported air trees. Air plants are abundant in countries around the world. However, in Vietnam, this species is only found in the garden of Mr. Tam. They were spread on plastic blisters, hung on a truss in the garden. Mr. Tam combines ornamental types with driftwood to create lively and artistic miniatures. He also owns a very large collection of South American colored pineapples in various colors and sizes. In the garden, the South American colored pineapples of Mr. Tam concentrated into a large area. From a distance, they are like a carpet stretching with red, orange, yellow, pink, blue … Tame international ornamental plants In his garden, rare and mutant ornamental leaf species are sold from a few million to several tens of million dong / leaf such as: Monstera victory, Pinatum … Currently, these plants are grown, growing well in self course in the garden. The path around driftwood covered with moss, ferns, and pineapples makes visitors feel lost in a dense forest. About playing ornamental leaves, Mr. Tam is known as a collector, playing this bonsai first in Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, many other gardeners have to come to him to learn from experience, buy ornamental leaves. He said: “Plants here have all the elements: Rare, beautiful, clean and safe. Rarely because they are the plants I selected, imported from abroad. A rare collection of imported air plants in Vietnam. “They are all grown with all kinds of substrates, do not need land, do not use chemical fertilizers and pesticides, so they are very clean and safe,” he added. In order to ensure the cleanliness of ornamental plants in the garden, he learned how to design and arrange ornamental gardens from international friends. The “gathering” area of imported ferns. He did not place his bonsai pots directly on the ground, but designed trusses and pedestals to contain plants. On these trusses, he arranged ornamental plants of the same species close together to form separate zones. The largest and unique collection of South American colored pineapples in Ho Chi Minh City. In particular, he surprised viewers by creating extremely vivid miniatures by combining ornamental plants with driftwood.
Black Deer In order to successfully raise snails, farmers need to have a good source of breeds, choose big and healthy parents, and have a full mouth and body for breeding. Breeding density is from 10 – 12 animals / m2 in proportion to 1 male – 1 female. Every year, every year through Thanh Minh (lunar March), snails are in the breeding season. Need to create a humid environment suitable for eggs for snail eggs to develop. At first laying, the eggs are white, when they are about to hatch, they turn white. In 15 more days, the eggs will hatch, the lime shell of the egg will slowly dissolve to form a layer of glue covering the baby. How to incubate black snail eggs When the snails are young, they will eat the big bran duckweed, until a few weeks the snails are bigger, the farmers often supplement with rice bran, to stimulate the snails to grow faster. Until the snail is equal to corn kernels, drop it into the pond. The typical culture period from the infancy to the commercial snail stage is more than 3 months. If you want to keep it as a parent, you need to raise it for another 2 months. The time to harvest commercial snails is scattered throughout the year due to the seasonal crop, especially from April to September. Commercial snails usually weigh about 35 fish / kg In An My commune, Ke Sach district, Soc Trang province, many establishments and farms producing quality snails are developing day by day, serving the needs of farmers in the region and neighboring provinces. Ut Tri Real Estate In addition to selling snails, snail farms also contract to advise on farming techniques, how to set up ponds, issues related to snail care and farming, helping beginners can feel secure. rich. Because of the reason that it is easy to care for, easy to raise and the price is high, the supply potential is huge, the supply is always short of demand. Many people who raise snails have started to study the model of rearing black snails in their home ponds and ditches and have succeeded beyond expectation. If there are techniques and hard work, each family can raise 10 commercial black snail nets and make another 9 nets to raise parent black snails to get hatched eggs into hatchlings. From there, bringing a good source of income, helping Soc Trang farmers get rich.

In the spring crop of this year, farmers in Anh Son district (Nghe An) planted a lot of pumpkins (also called squash). Harvest in moderation.
The spring crop of 2021 in the whole of Anh Son district, cultivated 337ha of pumpkin and zucchini, which concentrated mainly in communes along Lam river such as: Dinh Son 17ha, Cam Son 20ha, Tuong Son 40ha, Hoa Son 25ha, Phuc Son 30ha, Linh Son 20ha, Tho Son 40ha.

This time is in the season of pumpkin harvest, although it has a high yield, from 1.5 to 2 tons / ha, however, compared to the previous time, the current price of squash is very low. Previously, each kilogram of pumpkin people sold in the field was priced from 10,000-15,000 VND / kg depending on the quality but only 3,000-5,000 VND / kg.

Due to the low price of pumpkins, people only dare to harvest in moderation. Photo: Tien Dong

Ms. Nguyen Thi Giang’s house, Hoi Lam hamlet, Cam Son commune, this year planted more than 3 sao of pumpkin, although it did not take too much care, but like other spring vegetables and fruits, this year squash the price is very low, only 3,000 VND / kg. Sometimes even lower, traders try to force prices, so people only harvest small.

For each pumpkin pole, the cost of seed and fertilizer costs nearly 1 million VND, not to mention the care and hiring of the harvester. Currently, due to the low price of pumpkins, farmers face many difficulties. Photo: Tien Dong

Mr. Hoang Manh Ha, chief hamlet of Hoi Lam hamlet, Cam Son commune, said: The whole village of Hoi Lam has about 50 pumpkin growers, this is a highly productive pumpkin variety, the time from planting to harvest is 3. month. Mr. Ha’s family also produces 3 sao, the cost of seed and fertilizer for each pole is nearly 1 million VND, not including the care for 3 months and the cost of hiring the harvester. If the price of squash is stable, each pole also gives an income of nearly 10 million VND. However, recently, the low price of squash makes farmers very difficult.

Mr. Ha said that, due to the longer time for pumpkins to stay in the field than other crops, when the price of pumpkins is low, farmers can harvest them in moderation to wait for higher prices.

People have finished harvesting pumpkins and gathered along National Highway 7A. After that, traders will come to buy them. Photo: Tien Dong

Mr. Dang Dinh Luan – Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Anh Son district said: Usually at the beginning of each crop, the purchasing establishments still ask about signing offtake contracts with farmers, but due to low contract prices. Therefore, people do not agree but accept the market price.

Regarding the planning issue, Mr. Luan said that the district also now has a plan for vegetable growing areas on the land, and regularly provides technical guidance to farmers, thereby gradually improving production efficiency. bring higher income on the same area than before.

After more than a decade of testing, Malaysian farmers have been satisfied with the Japanese melon garden being massaged and listening to music in the hot country – creating an expensive fruit.

The first Japanese melons of the Mono company in Putrajaya, Malaysia on April 8, 2021. Photo: Reuters

Accordingly, the trio of farmers at Mono Premium Melon in Malaysia have switched to a completely new farming method – regularly massaging freshly beaned melon with cloth or soft gloves and listening to classical music.

This is the “tama-fuki” method, which is said to increase flavor and have a growth-stimulating effect on Japanese greenhouse-grown fruit.

Seh Cheng Siang, director and co-founder of Mono company in Putrajaya city, said: “Every Japanese melon that you see on our farm is like a work of art”.

This famous melon variety has been cultivated by a number of Japanese farmers over the last century in a special way to create melons that are prized for their equal taste and shape. Even in Japan, there are not many places to grow this specialty melon and the quantity is limited so they are only sold in high-end stores as luxury items.

However, after many attempts to cultivate high quality melon, the farmers were faced with the hot and humid tropical climate of Malaysia, a world far from more temperate conditions in Japan. .

The first melons of Mono company in Putrajaya, Malaysia on April 8, 2021. Photo: Reuters

Mr. Seh said: “We have to ensure optimal and accurate stages of nutrition, watering and fertilization, and have tested more than 10 types of melons of the same Japanese family, before when finding the best match ”.

Japanese melon (musk melon) features a perfectly rounded shape, with beautiful white veins emerging. The flesh of the melon is light green, fragrant and has a sugar level of over 14%, spreads evenly over the fruit, including near the stem.

After bringing melon seeds back from Japan, Malaysian farmers went to Japanese farms to learn about Malaysian farming methods and trials. They tried many times wrong to determine and find the optimal nutrient composition for melon plants.

And finally, after overcoming many obstacles, the first batch of 200 selected Mono melons was offered and sold out as soon as it was posted on the online store page.

Accordingly, the first Japanese melons produced in Malaysia were sold for 168 ringgit (40.70 USD) per fruit, about a third of the value of the native Japanese melon.

Elaine Chow, a customer, said: “It was great to know that our farmers were able to grow Japanese melon varieties in Malaysian soil.

The Guardian (UK) reported that at the end of June and the fields in the village of Lehrote in Doda in Jammu were filled with purple with a characteristic strong scent of lavender. More than 200 farmers here have turned to lavender, starting the local “purple revolution”.

Lavender plants can be grown and grown in nutrient-poor soil, do not need much water but love the sun.

The Indian Agricultural Research Institute has presented the prestigious Bharat Bhushan farmer (43 years old) award in the village of Lehrote. Mr. Bharat Bhushan said: “Lavender is very easy to grow and does not require much watering. I also only use cow manure to fertilize the plants ”. In just 2 years, his income was 4 times higher than the previous time when growing corn.

“Seeing my success, many people followed and now there are over 500 farmers in the area growing lavender,” said Mr. Bhushan. He now has a machine to extract essential oils from lavender. One hectare of lavender land can help farmers get 30-45 liters of essential oil.

Mr. Bhushan also shared: “Domestic demand for lavender essential oil is still quite high. We sell distilled essential oils directly to industrial customers in cities in India such as Mumbai and New Delhi. We also sell lavender to the dried flower dealer or to soaps and room fragrances.

Mr. Bhushan was inspired to grow lavender from a video of a 2016 conference in which Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) launched a program called “Mission Scents” to encourage Farmers affected by climate change cultivate crops such as lavender, lemongrass, rosemary and medicinal plants like ashwagandha …

Thanks to his creativity to break flowers to create different flowering phases, the 7-hectare mango garden of Mr. Nguyen Huong Long, Chieng Xuan commune, Van Ho district always produces big and small fruits.

With nearly 80,000 hectares of fruit trees, with an output of more than 336,000 tons / year, when the area of fruit trees expands the harvesting and consumption of the products at the same time, it will lead to “good season, price loss”. Along with enhancing trade promotion, expanding markets, investing in deep processing, the application of technical measures to spread crops, prolong the harvest time of fruit trees is an effective solution.

According to the recommendations of the Plant Protection Department of Son La province, in order to improve efficiency, farmers should rotate fruit tree production in a reasonable manner, not continuously on an area. Localities need to link up to achieve sustainable efficiency, avoiding the situation of concentrating duplicate production at the same time affecting output prices when harvested./.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Thailand has recorded a sharp decline in international visitors, and that is why hundreds of elephants kept for tourism purposes have been released to the natural environment. .

Many elephant camps in Thailand were once the top destination for international tourists, but are now forced to close or scale down due to the March 2020 ban. return to their original habitat.

An estimated 3,800 house elephants have been moved out of the tourist spots scattered in Surin province (southeastern Thailand) to the coastal towns of Pattaya or Phuket and the mountains around Chiang Mai.

Several individuals were brought back to Huay Pakkot, a village 180 km southeast of Chiang Mai city where the Karen ethnic minorities have traditionally raised elephants for generations.

“After two days, the elephants are gradually adapting to new habitats,” said Theerapat Trungprakan, president of the Thai Elephant Association.

Huay Pakkot and several surrounding villages used to be the largest concentration of elephants in Northern Thailand. Here, elephants are used in the logging industry. After Thailand’s ban on logging in 1989, elephants and mahout left and joined the tourism industry that grew “like mushrooms after rain”.

“The elephants have been returned home, where they were born, but that place is not the same place anymore,” Mr. Theerapat said.

Bishop Pongkavi Kwansaodaeng hugs Dumbo (5 years old), one of his four elephants. Image:

Nikkei Asia

The once fertile forests, where elephants could roam around and find plentiful food, have “disappeared”, replaced by bare slopes planted with corn for fodder. . The amount of herbicides, pesticides and chemical fertilizers used are now in the soil and will most likely cause the elephant’s death.

“Elephants now have to share their living space with modern agriculture,” said Satit Trachookwamdee, a man who used to raise five elephants. “The natural forests now meet only 10% of the elephant herd’s daily diet. The rest must be shipped from remote towns, which are very expensive.”

An elephant can consume up to 300kg of fodder per day, most of the house elephants are now chained to prevent them from destroying crops, and to prevent unknown elephants from colliding with each other.

“This is like gathering aggressive kids in a nursery,” said Theerapat.

If you lose your elephant, the consequences are very unpredictable. An 8-year-old female elephant named Nana suffered chemical burns on her tongue and palate after eating food containing herbicides.

The elephants were fed corn, a food source not available at Huay Pakkot. Photo: Nikkei Asia

In order to promptly cure dangerous cases, Chiang Mai University collaborated with the Thai Elephant Association and the government to create a mobile multi-purpose clinic: a truck that can be converted in minutes into a field clinic, or used to transport severe cases to one of Thailand’s four elephant hospitals.

However, getting the health force to reach remote areas may still take days. This is considered one of the limitations of elephant farming in rural areas instead of in tourist sites where care services are available.

In these villages, the majority of people often live in poverty, lacking the necessary resources to sustain these “giant” animals.

“I prefer to live here. It’s much more free here,” said Pongkavi Kwansaodaeng as he stroked Dumbo, one of his four elephants. “The elephants are happier here too. You can see it through their eyes and expressions. Here they have more time to mingle with nature.”

However, Pongkavi also admits that this paradise life may not last long. Before the pandemic broke out, Pongkavi worked in a tourist area and could earn 24,000 Baht (more than 17 million VND) in rent for an elephant a month.

Most of the money he saves is used to buy elephant food. But it is likely that this amount will be depleted in less than a year, although there are many opinions that Thailand will reopen international visitors in October to help revive the country’s tourism industry.

Theerapat, owner of Patara elephant farm near Chiang Mai city, said it currently receives only about 10 visitors a week, compared with 45 times per day before the pandemic. Despite being prized for how to raise and breed elephants, his farm is currently struggling to keep the remaining 40 elephants, compared with 81 pre-pandemic herds.

This elephant rancher had to use up his savings, borrow money, sell property and vehicles to continue his business. “During my heyday, I used to drive a modern sports car. Right now, I can only afford a 40-year old Range Rover,” Theerapat said.

Elephant tourism previously brought Thailand nearly 6 billion Baht per year, although difficulties still surround, but Mr. Theerapat believes that this is also an opportunity for elephant tourism to create some new reforms.

“We should not think of elephant tourism as a business, but see this as a way to help preserve and conserve this species. Therefore, it is necessary to establish an appropriate standard for the industry. This “, Mr. Theerapat stressed.

In its early days, elephant tourism was often “Disneylanded” with elephants kicking soccer balls, playing basketball, and performing circus-like games to attract tourists. Many farms also train elephants to learn to draw or play musical instruments. Several farms have been accused of exploiting elephant labor.

In response to criticism and calls for boycotts from animalists at home and abroad, some farm owners prevented visitors from riding elephants, restricting visitors from participating in activities such as elephant feeding. and shower.

But according to Mr. Theerapat, this is a misconception. Elephant riding is seen as daily exercise for this species, if this activity is not maintained, it is easy to cause overweight for elephants, or cause them to digestive problems and make them worse. Females become difficult to give birth, even die during childbirth.

Theerapat said that the elephant tourism industry is a solution to help prevent the extinction of the elephant population in Thailand, which owns the second largest number of elephants in Asia after Myanmar.

Releasing large numbers of elephants to no longer invested or relatively sensitive natural areas in Thailand would be difficult. Although they are able to return to the place where they were born, when falling into unemployment and lack of caregivers, house elephants find it difficult to survive on their own.

“Before, there were some people who wanted to quit elephant tourism. Now, maybe they have achieved their wish. But then what?”, Shrugged Mr. Theerapat. “Who will be responsible for the future of these elephants?”
