With homes with small areas, especially tube houses in urban areas, designing toilets in such a way that this space becomes a relaxing place for family members is not easy.
The toilet is the most frequently used space in the home. Previously, toilets were often not respected by homeowners, but with today’s modern life, this space has been more cared for than both the living room and the bedroom.

Not only is the space used a lot, the toilet also becomes a relaxing place for family members after a hard working day. For homes with small areas, especially tube houses, homeowners should pay attention to the following factors when designing toilets: Location Whether the tube house is narrow, ventilation is still the most essential factor for the toilet. If possible, homeowners should use natural ventilation when designing this space. In townhouses, the toilets are usually located next to the skylight or towards the side of an alley or space, because these places can connect air with the natural environment. The toilet is located in the corner of a townhouse. (Illustration) Many people often build bathrooms and toilets located on the house entrance and on the kitchen area. The rest of the areas can be flexibly arranged so that it is well ventilated and convenient for travel. Where the house is too narrow, the “extreme” homeowner will arrange the toilet under the stairs. Because this space is very narrow and mysterious. If there is no other location, the homeowner needs to install a ventilation fan. Acreage A toilet with an average area just enough, not too cramped, relatively standard, usually about 4m2. Toilets are considered small when the area is less than 2m2. Which still includes 3 areas: toilet, sink and shower area. A toilet with an average area of just enough, not too tight, is usually about 4m2. (Illustration) Besides the ventilation factor, toilets need to distinguish two spaces: dry and wet. The dry area has toilets and sinks, while the wet area is used for bathing. Separating these two areas will make the toilet clean, easy to clean, and scrubbed. Sanitary equipment In order for a narrow toilet to look wider, the homeowner must first use compact, space-free toilet facilities. Do not be greedy to use the lavish sink or the vanity with a sophisticated design. Narrow house should choose compact toilet equipment. (Illustration) Walls should use neutral colors, as the background for patterns on shower curtains or wall paintings. nice picture The small restroom will become fresh when covered in vibrant yellow paint. The white curtains with green checkered edges soften the edges of the tub. The pictures of funny animals painted on the wall also bring a lively feeling to the user. Narrow the decorative focus when designing a small toilet space. A decorative highlight should be used as the main point, be it a curtains, a shower or a prominent blue-white porcelain vase. Tiles Small toilets should choose light colored tiles to create a sense of airiness. Wall tiles can be placed close to the ceiling. It is possible to tile the toilet wall close to the ceiling. (Illustration) Avoid using bricks with cumbersome patterns, dark colors, easy to cause frustration and make the toilet feel narrower. Ceiling paint colors should also choose light colors to make the space not heavy. Light Gone are the days when toilet lighting only needed to be bright enough. With the modern trend of toilet interior modernization today, lighting system is more and more interested in bright and beautiful criteria. Clarity is the first criterion. In addition to the common light source for the restroom, there should be lights in specific areas such as the bath, sink or vanity. These local light sources help the user have the necessary light when using. After that, the toilet only needs to be bright enough, with the trend of modernizing the interior, it is necessary to have a beautiful light. (Illustration) Beautiful light is also an important factor. Gentle light sources arranged in hidden corners or accent spaces will bring a feeling of lightness, relaxation like at the spa. You can use more deodorizing lights such as compact bulbs using ozone to deodorize, making the toilet space both bright and clean. Phuong Anh (synthetic)

Therefore, with Dai Nam feng shui, when arranging the location of the sky well, teacher Nguyen Trong Manh – Master, the leading feng shui expert in Vietnam always carefully calculates, and often places the sky well in a prosperous way to catch the source Sand energy benefits through the sky well into the house. Or based on the layout of each house to calculate the setting of the sky well so that the house has valuable ventilation lines such as: For the cross supply, the first of the better, … to create a rich, rich owner. Notes when opening the sky well When opening a well, attention should be paid to making the roof to be active in the regulation of light and sun protection, to avoid rain.

Skylights play an important role in improving air, especially in tube houses. When designing a skylight, homeowners need to understand the basic principles to bring nature into the home.
The skylight can be understood as the connecting part from the ground floor to the rooftop of the house. In addition to taking light, the skylight also has the function of ventilation and air convection.

With tube houses in urban areas, the interior is often dark, so many homeowners build a skylight well from the ground floor to the terrace, then cover the light with roofing panels. Light will shine through the roofing to brighten the indoor space. Size The size of the skylight depends on the area of the house but should not be less than 1m2. The higher the house, the wider the well. The skylight is composed of 3 parts, including: the foot in contact with the ground, the back and the roof. Sky wells usually account for 10% of the housing construction area. (Illustration) Sky-wells can arrange plants, flowers, rockery in combination with living space or dining room. The back section is the lighting for the upper floors. The roof is for lighting and ventilation. According to construction codes, the area of the skylight usually accounts for 10% of the housing construction area. If the house is more than 100m2 of construction space, the ventilation should be 20%. However, this ratio depends on the shape as well as the height of the house to create a corresponding empty area for air circulation. Material Currently, architects often use glass roof materials or smart plastic roofs with iron frames to protect the skylight. If the house is too narrow, you can use clear glass or plastic to increase the light into the house. Or you can reduce the intensity of the light of the skylight by using color materials for the roof, creating enough brightness while cooling the interior of the house. The current trend is to use glass roof materials or smart plastic roofs with iron frames to protect the skylights. (Illustration) To bring nature into the home, homeowners can use hanging pots or green vines on the wall. Under the floor, mixed with ornamental plants, homeowners can create small lakes, drop fish or flowers to create a balance in terms of feng-shui. If a small skylight space can be graveled, put a few more ceramic pots or decorations, to bring a cool highlight to the house. On the wall of the skylight, homeowners can clad rocks as highlights, decorative patterns vividly for the wall. Location The trend of clearance to get light and wind from the roof is widely used in tubular houses with only one open side. To maximize the effect of the sky well, the homeowner should only place the skylight in the back or middle of the house. The back part of the house is always dark and mysterious, so the “exchange” with the air and light is very necessary. Wind circulation direction has way in and out. It is the vent that creates the suction force to let air go from the front doors into the house or vice versa. Skylights are usually located in the center or back of the house. (Illustration) The most common is the skylight located on the staircase area. This is the most suitable place because the stairs are usually located in the middle of the house and adjacent to the kitchen. If the house is too long, it is necessary to have more holes in the back of the house to circulate the air. Therefore, the number of skylights can be more than 1, depending on the design, it can be 2-3 sky wells. Solution against sun, rain Skylights play an important role in improving air, especially in tube homes. However, if the sky well design is not properly designed, it will become the place to transfer heat into the house when it is hot or the courtyard is the culprit pouring water into the house every time it rains. If improperly designed, the skylight can become a place to transfer heat into the home. (Illustration) To bring into play the effect of preventing heat and avoiding rain in the courtyard, it is necessary to combine the following solutions at the same time: Avoid organizing the corridor inside the house because it will make the spaces more pressing; use open partitions to divide the indoor space; Cover direct sunlight or paint brightly on courtyard walls; planting trees; to limit the use of dark cement and stone bricks; use heat-resistant paint for skylights; using automatic misting system … Safe Skylights are most likely unsafe to use, especially with young children. Therefore, if there are no flowers or safety nets between floors in the sky well, it is necessary to pay attention to the system of adjacent windows and handrails to ensure a safe height. The spokes in the railing should not be too wide to prevent children from passing through. Phuong Anh (synthetic)

It is an extra space, but the bathroom and toilet are the most used in the house. With today’s modern house, many homeowners have turned this space into a relaxing place for the whole family.
With today’s living conditions, bathrooms and toilets are interested by many homeowners when designing and decorating, equivalent to other spaces in the house. Many families even give special attention to this often considered sub-space, to turn it into an important place to relax for the whole family.

Location The bathroom near the bedroom and the main traffic path is usually the bathroom shared by the whole family. More advanced is the bathroom designed in the bedroom. This design is often found in the master bedroom or room for the elderly. The bathroom and hygiene have gradually been more interested in design and decoration by the owner. (Illustration) In today’s modern house, the bathroom is also designed in combination with the dressing room to increase the convenience of use, and at the same time “free” the huge wardrobe in the bedroom. Make use of open space The bathroom is a relaxing place, so if possible, design the bathroom with the side exposed to the outside space. Bathroom windows are wider and facing open spaces such as gardens, courtyards, skylights … and to ensure privacy, use blinds, blinds, or blurred glass with decorative stickers. mind. Should make the most of open space for the bathroom. (Illustration) In case the bathroom is located in a private bedroom, to create a feeling of open space for the bathroom, some homeowners use the bathroom door with transparent glass. Functional subdivision Bathroom is divided into two separate zones, that is, the dry area and the wet area. The dry area is where the lavabo – washbasin and toilet are located. And the wet area is the bathing place. The dry and wet areas are usually separated by a glass wall or nylon curtain. The bath tub has been gradually replaced by cabins, either standing or standing baths, either ready-to-buy or custom-designed. Colors and materials Natural colors and materials are now very popular in bathroom design and decoration. To avoid the boredom of conventional paving bricks, designers tend to use granite, marble, natural sawn stone, wood, gravel… more. Mosaic tiles are used to decorate walls, as accents in the bathroom. (Illustration) On the market today, there are glass mosaic tiles with many colors, which can be used as accent walls for bathroom decoration very aesthetically. In addition, in the dry area of the bathroom, homeowners can use oil-painted walls, lumpy paint to decorate. Phuong Anh (synthetic)

The motifs dating back to the Almohad Muslim empire were accidentally discovered during the renovation of a pub in the city of Seville.
According to the Guardian , a luxury ancient Muslim bathhouse, said to be nearly 1,000 years old, accidentally revealed itself after a long time hiding inside a famous pub in the center of Seville, southwest Spain.

From legend to reality In the summer of 2020, the owner of the pub Cervercería Giralda decided to renovate his property during a time of absence due to road construction and the impact of the pandemic. After layers of paint, plaster and ceiling, characteristic colorful geometric patterns and stars gradually emerged. The 12th century Islamic-style sauna was discovered in a famous pub in Seville, Spain. Photo: El Pais. Before that, many local legends and some historical documents suggest that the site may have been an ancient sauna. However, the majority of respondents believe that Giralda’s nostalgic architecture has a hint of neomudéjar style (a type of Moorish architecture commonly found in the Iberian peninsula), or Islamic style. This pub and hotel was rebuilt by architect Vicente Traver on the structure of an old building in the early 1920s. Antonio Castro, one of four co-owners of Giralda, said: “It is rumored that there are many old bathhouses here. However, not all historians agree with that hypothesis, some people did not accept it until later. We are doing some reconstruction work, some archaeologists have participated, and that’s how this bathhouse was discovered. ” “A fateful arrangement of differences” Archaeologist Álvaro Jiménez was one of those who believed that ancient bathhouse rumors were just myths. However, in July 2020, his team was gouging plaster on the ceiling when they discovered many eight-pointed star-shaped skylights. “As soon as we saw the openings in the ceiling, we knew immediately what the precursor of this room was. It cannot be anything but a bathroom, ”Mr. Jiménez said. Eight-pointed star-shaped skylights characterize 12th-century Muslim bathhouses. Photo: Álvaro Jiménez. According to the Guardian The design dates back to the 12th century, when the Almohad Muslim empire ruled much of what is today Spain, Portugal and parts of North Africa. “Generally speaking, this bathhouse has more intact decorations than any known bathhouse on the Iberian peninsula,” said archaeologists. “Everything here is decorated, and fortunately, they still exist today. The base of the wall is white mortar, engraved on it with geometric lines, circles and squares. The most characteristic of the bathrooms is the paintings of red ocher painted with stars and eight-pointed asterisks. These two motifs are interleaved with each other, corresponding to them are sky well holes of similar shape ”, Mr. Jiménez described. The star-shaped pattern and the eight-pointed asterisk that decorated the bathroom were covered with plastering lime. Photo: Álvaro Jiménez. Currently, Giralda still needs to be chiseled out of the lime coating to be able to reveal all the underlying architecture. This old sauna and pub is undergoing further maintenance and repair. It will reopen within two or three weeks. Mr. Jiménez described this finding as “a fateful arrangement of differences”. He said Giralda is reborn to become a miracle. Mr. Castro and his partners expect this discovery to open a new chapter to Giralda’s history. They also hope the pub will bring a new experience to customers. “This place used to be just a pretty famous pub. But now, people will enjoy beer or wine in a 12th-century pub and sauna. It’s great that the architect who built this pub in the 1920s respected the architecture of the bathhouse. . Had it been in someone else’s hands, this place might have been leveled and rebuilt. We are grateful to him, ”he shared.

The Salem house project was built in Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong province. The house is for a young couple and their first daughter is only four years old. Architect Story Architecture said that the work pressure and childcare pressure of the young couple in modern society is very great, so they need to design a well-ventilated house with lots of trees. This home will bring a feeling of relaxation, relieve pressure after a working day. In addition, there are also many playgrounds for girls to play, explore nature by themselves, and release energy. At the same time, parents will have more private time. Salem house has an area of 125 m², located in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province. To create a feeling of lightness for the house, the architect uses white as the main color tone and blends gray and wood colors to make the house more elegant. Therefore, when cooking or eating, homeowners feel as comfortable as in a garden restaurant. The corridor connects the two rooms to break the feeling of being bored by the handrail’s railing.

In designing tube houses, townhouses in urban areas, people often pay attention to usable area, distribution of rooms, and other facilities, but few people think about emergency exit plans.
In less than a week, two serious fires in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi have claimed 10 lives. Not long ago, on February 4, 2021, a fire at an inn on Tam Khuong street, Khuong Thuong ward, Dong Da district, Hanoi also caused 4 deaths, including 3 students from Thuy University. Profit. In these cases, houses on fire are in the form of tube houses (also called townhouses). The issue of fire prevention and fighting and escape from the fires in pipe houses needs to be paid careful attention to reduce the damage when there is a fire – especially human life.

Where possible, it is necessary to open the emergency exit at the back or side of the house. The fact is that most of the fires that occur cause loss of life as victims cannot get out of the fire when they first emerge; The reason is the lack of escape routes in the tube houses. Meanwhile, the firefighters and rescuers are very difficult to access these works, especially works in alleyways. The problem of escape in the tube house is very important to be concerned from an architectural perspective, is how easy it is to escape when the incident occurs. Most of the tube houses have the same disadvantage: narrow and deep, small area, little airy, surrounding space is usually close-up high-rise buildings. Therefore, in the design of tube houses and townhouses in urban areas, people often pay attention to the usable area, the distribution of rooms, and other facilities, but few people think about emergency exit plans. The stairs to the roof, if made convenient and easy to use, are also an effective escape route. In addition, due to concerns about theft, and safe use (avoid falling on high), the tube house is often built discreetly with multi-layered lock doors, shielding the facade with flower bricks, bars, nets, Iron cages, windows have iron flowers … so when something goes wrong, there is usually no way out and very easily suffocated. Also due to the specific characteristics of the tube building, this type of construction cannot / difficult to design fire protection according to common standards as well as the installation of fire alarm and fire fighting equipment such as large projects. Therefore, when there is a fire, it often causes very heavy damage to people and property. The emergency exit is really necessary for the tube house and should be seriously viewed from the perspective of architectural design … So where and how to arrange the escape route; and related solutions to minimize the damage in the event of a fire? A balcony is a good escape route while waiting for rescue. – The house should have a balcony, lo-gia: Townhouse should have a lo-gia balcony in front with balustrade. This is an effective escape route. The balcony and the lo-gia are not only an aesthetic part of the project, but also contribute to sun protection, rain protection and a escape area when something goes wrong. In the event of an indoor fire having smoky smoke, this area is also well ventilated to sustain life waiting for rescue. In the case of balconies, lo-houses do not use balustrades, but crank bars, nets … there should be a doorway that opens with a hinge, with a lock so that it can be opened when necessary. – The house should have a terrace and a skylight: The terrace is a large, airy space that helps to effectively escape like a balcony, a lo-gia. Depending on the specific terrain, the person in distress in the rooftop can escape to the next neighbor’s house, or wait for the rescue team to assist. The skylight in the townhouse helps to ventilate and escape smoke straight up when a fire incident occurs, reducing the smoke in the house that causes suffocation. – In the possible conditions for houses with more than one facade, the emergency exit should be arranged behind or on the side of the house, in case it is impossible to get out at the main door, exit at the side door. Key locking systems should be noted for their good performance, simplicity, and ease of operation. – Arranging the emergency staircase to the roof floor: Usually with a tube house, the roof floor is flattened to place the roof water tank; and often have a technical ladder from the terrace or some other area to the roof. This is also an important escape route. But for easy escape, this technical staircase needs to be designed to be convenient to use. Usually, these technical ladders are often made of steel plugged into the wall (monkey ladder) or using an A-type aluminum ladder, but if you switch to having a ladder with handrails, it will be much more convenient. The skylight is not only aesthetic, making the house airy and bright, but also has the effect of escaping. – Arrange for each floor to have at least two emergency exits: One exit to the stairs (up or down) and another escape route (window, balcony, loggia). – The main door, if there is a layer, make the door open outwards (in case possible), it will be easier to escape. Iron pull doors, aluminum rolling doors are not convenient for escape. Indoor doors such as room door, door opening to balcony, doorway, terrace should use a simple locking system, easy to operate; Should use locks with all kinds of latches, not using keys. Currently, some economically capable families have installed fire alarm and fire fighting systems for their family houses (townhouses, tube houses), however this is not common; So the architectural solution is still important. In addition, to ensure safety, families should equip themselves with fire extinguishers (CO2 bottles, powder bottles); and regularly check the positions of doors and emergency exits for easy operation in case of problems; as well as inspect and promptly handle the electrical system to prevent overload and fire. In addition, it is also necessary to have a number of emergency escape aids standing on hand such as: crowbar, hammer, rope … in appropriate positions. And the most important thing is the sense of fire alert, being careful in fire-related activities such as cooking, burning incense, burning votive, smoking … Building an escape scenario is also what. necessary to ensure human life./.

Trees grown indoors by size are divided into three categories: large crops, shrubs and vines.

Indoor plants bring a lot of benefits, both providing oxygen, absorbing carbonic for cool fresh air, and bringing the element of water room that brings luck and health to the family. However, many people still wonder what tree to choose in the house to suit the house area. Below, architect Bui The Long CTA | Creative Architects will share the secrets of choosing indoor plants in the most complete and detailed way. Big crops Larger trees are large-sized perennials with shade and landscape effects. For these types of plants, it is necessary to note that the planting position such as the planting spot must have enough area, light for the growth of the pot to not affect the foundation, house structure. Therefore, the open-floor space, the courtyard or front and back yard must be large enough. The minimum area for planting pots is about 2 mx 2 m to ensure good growth and natural light to plant these big trees. Large trees need to be planted in a well-lit area and have an area to grow plants without affecting the foundation. Usually, architects design to incorporate large plants under the indoor floor space. Currently, the popular varieties are star fruit, Taiwanese eagle, peach blossom or sesame buds … These plants are relatively easy to grow indoors, easy to live, grow well, do not require much fertilization or lighting time. large and easy to find on the market. However, when planting, it is still necessary to professional green tree construction teams to properly treat the substrate, drain water as well as the roots to ensure the survival rate of the tree as well as not affect the longevity and structure of the building. . Shrubs Shrubs are herbaceous plants, about 1.2 to 1.5 m in height. Plants can be planted in pots, on walls in large patches or in pots. For shrubs, the species is very diverse and also creates a good landscape for the house such as lan Y, honeysuckle, wealth, fortune, prince, five packaging … The planting place requires enough light for the tree to grow, it can be arranged under a large tree or planted in a tree tub next to a window, a sky well … limit planting in places that are too humid, dark like under a bridge. ladder. Places where natural light is difficult will be difficult to periodically expose the tree to the sun. The place to plant shrubs also requires enough light and can be located under a large tree or planted in a tree tub next to a window or sky well. The planting method should be planted in high strata, tall plants planted inside, in the middle, lower trees outside around to fill the gaps under tall shrubs. Choose shrubs with different leaf sizes to overlap, limit leaves with too many colors and plant sporadic to disturb the plant structure. Treating the soil for shrubs is simpler than for trees, the owner can do by himself. However, for green tree walls, a professional green tree construction team is required. Convolve The liana shape is a green tree that is commonly grown indoors, especially the houses that have limited planting area but still bring green color and good shade.

Architects have brought common spaces to the front, creating many wells for the house to have full light. The main building material is raw brick and natural wood, evoking the image of the house in the countryside. Vietnam.

The old house has a high construction density, lack of natural light, stuffy space, lack of connection and the owner needs to change to have a better life. They are a couple approaching retirement age, who love the tranquility and closeness to nature. House address in Da Nang.

The solution that Hinzstudio offers is that the common spaces of the house are moved to the front to increase the connection between family members and receive natural light into every corner of functional areas.

Sky wells will be organized at the front, back and center of the house to bring full light while still creating depth.

From all positions of the house, even from the bedroom, we can feel the change in light, air and wind.

The main materials are raw bricks and natural wood.

The shape of the roof and materials evoke images of houses in rural Vietnam. This is the main inspiration for the design.

At night, instead of using too many high-powered lamps, the design team’s main goal is to use lamps with a moderate capacity and the right color temperature to make the space more cozy and peaceful. .

Skylights are a popular architectural solution in today’s housing projects, aiming to exploit light and ventilation for townhouses that lack airy surfaces. Being part of a technical element, but a skylight brings a certain aesthetic value and freshness, is a highlight for the interior space of the house.

The skylight next to the stairs, under the skylight is a distinctive staircase as a highlight.

In fact, the sky well has existed since ancient times. In the tube-shaped townhouses in the old quarter of Hanoi, Hoi An, Saigon Cholon area … the well has been applied in construction design to ensure natural lighting and ventilation. These townhouses have a narrow width and great length (depth) – up to tens of meters and also have only 1 or 2 modest open sides (front and back); Meanwhile, the space used by functional rooms stretches along the depth of the house. Skylights here may have roofs, they may not have roofs like an inner courtyard (mostly roofless), architectural form and materials different from current housing, but the nature of the well is still the same. : a clearing from… in the sky, to exploit light and ventilation.

You can watch the whole staircase system from the well.

Skylight is a technical architectural solution to get natural light and ventilation, the solution of microclimate environment; But in fact, the skylight becomes a special space, a highlight of the house. Normally, to exploit the maximum efficiency, the sky well is usually placed in the middle of the house. At that location, sky wells can be exploited to 3 sides (one side is usually adjacent to the boundary wall), for bedroom spaces, toilets, stairs, corridors … or other functional rooms. That central location makes the skylight absorb the vision, make visual impression and easy to invest and care for the beautiful sky, making even the adjacent large space such as the common living room, kitchen … also beautiful. than. Of course, there are also houses with more than one well, and not all houses with a sky well are in the middle of the house.

Skylights are a fairly familiar part of a townhouse today. Sky wells have become necessary, indispensable in the condition of “crowded land”, crowded together in urban areas, and clear conditions of land for house construction are very difficult. There are no similar skylights. Each house is different, each owner has a preference, each architect has an idea … However, there are still common common points to note in order for the “highlight” in the house to be useful in the function. and optimize, as well as overcome disadvantages:

– Sky well is a tube, so the sound transmitted in the well is very clear and resonant. People sitting downstairs talking, people upstairs can hear; lose privacy or annoy each other. So the wall areas in the skylight should not be all smooth and smooth. Need some rough, lumpy patches for sound absorption; such as using hemp paint, cladding natural stone, brick cards, building ceiling tiles …

– If the sky well has no roof, the well bottom must organize the drainage well, and the bottom of the well must be large enough as well as the surrounding area must have a barrier system (walls, walls, doors) for rainwater to fall. Sky well bottom floor does not shoot into the clean living spaces

– With roofed skylights, it is important to note the main wind direction of the area to have a reasonable roof solution, in case when it rains, there is strong wind, it will pour rain through the crevices and openings of the roof to the roof.

– Decorative lights, hanging plants (if any) on the walls of the skylight well must be within reach or have a safety solution to control, avoid difficulties in need of maintenance and repair of lamps – electricity. , take care of bonsai.

– If under the skylight is not a fixed area such as an aquarium, ornamental garden, but a place of passage, or living space; do not hang pots, lamps, or other large – heavy decorations above it can be dangerous.

– The windows, corridors and stairs adjacent to the skylight must have handrails, iron flowers, ensuring safety standards. (height, gap distance)

– In some areas, the summer sun is very hot, especially at noon, the sun shines directly into the wells, which can cause excess light, glare, damage – damage to wooden floors, furniture; It is possible to install a ceiling curtain system under the skylight roof to block the sun and regulate light.
