Binh Lieu district, Quang Ninh province is inhabited by many ethnic minorities, of which the Tày people make up the majority, of which, Dong Thanh cultural village, Hoanh Mo commune is the typical Tay village of Binh Lieu district. This is not only the convergence of the Tay people but also the place to preserve the traditional cultural values of this ethnic group, and at the same time it is an attractive tourist destination for tourists when coming to. Binh Lieu.

Mr. Tran Siu Thu instructed members of Hoanh Mo commune key club to practice the new key in front of his traditional home. Photo: Thanh Thuan On the way to Hoanh Mo border gate (Binh Lieu district), Dong Thanh cultural text stands out with the red last gate on the left side of the road. This place is known as the village with the largest number of Tay ethnic minorities living in Binh Lieu district. Visiting Dong Thanh, we caught a picturesque village scene with newly planted green rice fields prominent on the brown background of the land, gardens, fish ponds, earthen sticky rice roofed with yin and yang. symbolism of the Tay … Along with that is the working life in the fields of the Tay ethnic people bringing peace and peace to the village. All have created a beautiful picture of the land where the border of the country … Ms. Luong Thi Sin, head of Dong Thanh village, said that the village has 106 households with 406 Tay ethnic people, mainly living on agriculture such as growing rice, crops, fruit trees, animal husbandry … These often live on hillsides and places near water sources. The village still has 8 earthen houses with tiled yin and yang, of which 4 houses still retain the traditional identity of the Tay people. Walking around the village, we found the houses of land, roofed with yin and yang tiled soup of the Tay people on the hill. Houses with walls built of earth bricks and roofs of yin and yang are very warm in winter and cool in summer. In the hustle and bustle of modern life, in many places where ethnic minorities can no longer keep traditional houses, there are still houses with the age of hundreds of years. Following the sound of the instrument and the inviting folk song, we visited the house of Mr. Tran Siu Thu (over 70 years old), a reputable man in Dong Thanh village. At that time, Mr. Thu was practicing then singing for Hoanh Mo commune then gathered at his house. The elastic sound, the singing rang loudly. Mr. Thu is the owner of a traditional land house from the time of his grandparents passed down through 4 generations. The house was built with earth bricks, roofed with yin and yang tiles, inside the house is a reception space, a place to worship ancestors, a firewood warehouse, a kitchen and a attic with wooden stairs going up is a place to store paddy, rice, and utensils. .. Up to now, although there is another house nearby, Mr. Thu still retains the traditional house of his nation, where the Hoanh Mo commune ‘s then and classical singing club gather. Mr. Thu shared: “I have kept this land house so that my children and grandchildren have the opportunity to inherit the traditional culture of their people”. Visiting the traditional house of Ms. To Thi Lan and Mr. Ngo Thiem Tao, we were quite excited when the front and left side of the house were green rice fields. Ms. To Thi Lan said that this house with earth walls, yin and yang tiled has existed for nearly 100 years. The house is more than 100m2 wide, including 5 compartments, including a main house, two bedrooms, a kitchen and a warehouse. In front of the house is drying yard. She and her husband inherited the house from their parents-in-law. Up to Cao’s life, Lan is the third generation to live in this house. Since the house was ceded by his parents, Cao and his wife have not had to repair anything. In this Tay village, the most impressive impression to me is the traditional house of Mr. Phan Ngoc Sinh, with an area of more than 100m2, 2 floors, of which the first floor consists of 3 rooms, 2 wings, with 1 room as a reception place. , 1 space for food and living utensils, 1 space for bedroom. The second floor, the nave used as an ancestral worship area, the two sides are 2 bedrooms. Previously, this house was originally a stilt house, then, Mr. Sinh renovated the house into a real estate but still retains the old architecture. Up to now, the house has gone through 5 generations, existed for more than 1 century, but the house structure is still quite solid. Inside the house, Mr. Sinh still preserves many old living items and utensils that are decades ago that can no longer be found today such as: loom loom, copper pot, sewing machine, rice pounder. , hoes, shovels … Currently, the house is the residence of Mr. Sinh and his sister. His children have set up a career, built a house elsewhere. The house becomes bustling every weekend when the children gather … Not only preserving the traditional house, the Tay Dong Thanh people also preserve a rich and diverse cuisine such as dishes made from pork, poultry, insects, colored sticky rice, croissants, and cakes. Wormwood … Besides, they also retain many unique cultural features of the Tay ethnic group such as key singing (including key rites, key-drag rites and stringed lumbar singing), folk games with stick pushing, spinning, throwing, crossbow shooting, cake wrapping … Being a village near the border with China, Dong Thanh preserves many traditional physical and intangible cultural heritages, capable of attracting, creating highlights, and playing fields for cultural – economic exchange … These are the factors to build Dong Thanh into a typical ethnic culture of the Tay, step by step forming products for tourism development, contributing to the socio-economic development of Binh district. Lieu.
