Kon Tum is considered as the culinary land of the Central Highlands. The people here have created many of their own dishes, bearing the direction of the mountains and forests of the Central Highlands. Among them can be mentioned sticky rice with bamboo shoots – a very strange dish. Just a familiar dish cooked from glutinous rice, skillfully combined with bamboo shoots, but has become a familiar breakfast dish.

For many people who live and work in Kon Tum, as familiar as sticky rice is with bamboo shoots, for those who come from far away for the first time, sticky rice with bamboo shoots becomes a strange dish. Perhaps partly because they are familiar with traditional sticky rice such as corn sticky rice, xeo sticky rice, green bean sticky rice, etc., everyone is curious when they hear about sticky rice with bamboo shoots. Sticky bamboo shoots look quite simple, only consisting of cooked sticky rice and fried bamboo shoots above. Kon Tum people like to eat spicy, so each bowl also has a red chili. The way to make sticky rice with bamboo shoots is also simple and not very fussy. Fresh bamboo shoots, after being dug in the forest, are peeled off, washed and cut into bite-sized pieces. Through preliminary processing to remove the smell, bamboo shoots are stir-fried with spices to become rich. Selected glutinous rice is soaked in dilute salt water mixed with turmeric powder to color for about 8 hours, then bring out the cooked food. That’s the “traditional” style of sticky rice with bamboo shoots. But people are also creative to make sticky rice more delicious and attractive. In the early morning, next to the pot of sticky rice and fried bamboo shoots, there are also braised fish for customers to choose from. Sometimes, braised fish is replaced with salty braised beans. So the customer has a new item in the “menu” that changes. In the early morning, the seller puts a large batch of hot sticky rice with a pot of fried bamboo shoots and a few sets of fresh banana leaves to pack for customers who want to take away. People who come to buy only need to spend 7,000 VND, those who eat a lot, buy about 10,000 VND to have a cheap and delicious breakfast. However, if only that is the case, the sticky rice dish in Kon Tum is still not enough to be attractive. Besides fried bamboo shoots, the seller also skillfully processed braised fish and bamboo shoot porridge for more variety. So the sticky rice restaurant has more menus for customers to choose from. Those who like to be vegetarian can choose sticky rice with bamboo shoots, if they like mixed, order more braised fish with bamboo shoots or young children can have a breakfast with bamboo shoot porridge with their parents. In addition to bamboo shoots, guests can choose bamboo shoot porridge which is equally attractive, with its own characteristics in the charm of color with a little bright yellow of bamboo shoots. Placed on a bowl of turmeric-colored sticky rice, bamboo shoots attract passersby with a special aroma, making many people linger just to buy a pack of sticky rice in time for work. Unknowingly that delicious dish became something to hold people back once through the mountainous town of the Central Highlands.

Kon Tum Cathedral Wooden Church was built entirely of Ca chit wood (red chili) Coming to Kon Tum Cathedral Wooden Church, visitors always feel peace and serenity. In the first few months of 2021, it had to be closed, minimizing people to visit and attend Mass because of COVID-19 translation, so far the church has reopened. Inside the Wooden Church of Kon Tum A Den, representative of the Church, said that Kon Tum Diocese is the most special in the Central Highlands because of all ethnic people. “There are nearly 12,000 parishioners, living in 10 villages, mainly Ba Na people. Most of them do farming and farming. They do not know how to do business or trade. Previously, in the church, there were open schools that taught both culture (teaching Ba Na) and career orientation. Now, since kindergarten, they can learn Vietnamese, so all children can go to outside public schools ”, said teacher A Den. According to the church representative, the Cathedral Parish prescribes that each month there is a baptism for the children on the first Monday of the month, with the number of about 30 children or more / time. In addition, Saturday afternoon and all Sunday are still served at Mass. “Due to the influence of the COVID-19 epidemic, in 2020 and the outbreak from the end of January 2021 in Gia Lai, the Orthodox Parish minimizes the admission of visitors. Particularly, after the outbreak in Gia Lai, the church closed and did not receive guests. The parish stipulates that people go to Mass with only 30 people or less, maximum 50 people on Sunday, strictly abide by the epidemic prevention measures of the Ministry of Health such as hand washing and antiseptic on arrival. gate, measuring body temperature, wearing a medical mask, sitting at a distance of 2-3m in the church “, said teacher A Den and said that at present he still reminds people to be cautious about the complicated developments of the epidemic in India. Degrees and neighboring countries. According to A Den, Kon Tum Cathedral was designed and initiated by a French priest, built in 1913, completed in 1918 and today. In the 1994 – 1996 period, the work was repaired to add two more verandah corridors. By 2013, on the 100th anniversary, the church was remodeled a bit outside. These days, the church is always open to visitors, and there are always people reminding people to wear masks, to take measures to prevent epidemics. Having to go to the church when the afternoon comes, the sunset gradually hides behind the trees of the old tomb. The old porcelain root blossoms with white flowers, and the red confetti to adorn the ancient relics, can fully feel the harmonious design of Roman architecture (France) and wooden stilt houses of the Ba Na people. Through the upheaval in May, the wooden church is still standing there, like the indomitable spirit of the people of the Central Highlands. The material for the construction of the Kon Tum Cathedral Wooden Church is very special, completely made of the best wood at that time, which was Ca chit (red chrysanthemum) – a typical wood of the Central Highlands. Through the skillful hands of artisans from Binh Dinh, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai … the work is bonded together by dream without using nails. The church is the only remaining Basilica-style wooden masterpiece in the world.

GNO – The elders of the ethnic minority villages along the rivers of Dak Bla, Po Ko and Se San all remember the once majestic rivers of rivers, on which the canoe is as a testament to The royal family of time has passed through the fierce waterfalls.

Single diaspora domain Lung Leng village, Sa Binh commune, Sa Thay district, Kon Tum is like a small “oasis” surrounded by Plei Krong hydroelectric lake. Here, in addition to making noodles and growing industrial crops, every morning the men in the village row a canoe to go fishing. And few people know that Lung Leng village is like a small “oasis” surrounded by Plei Krong hydroelectric lake. Here, in addition to making noodles and growing industrial crops, every morning the men in the village row a canoe to go fishing. Lung Leng is also an archaeological site providing a rich system of monuments and artifacts of a prehistoric Central Highlands society. Many families in Lung Leng still keep their canoes Elder A Hyh (in Lung Leng village) over the past few decades has witnessed many poisonous vines. The carpentry boat craft of Lung Leng village, Sa Binh commune, Sa Thay district had a peak time. In the past, the canoe was the main means to help the people of this Sesan line go further and especially when returning from the field every afternoon, the boats were always full of products that nature gave … For the villagers. In the past, the boat was a part of the property like a buffalo, a raft, and a set of gongs. Old Ahoh dreamily remembers the glorious old days. Old A Hyh does not know how old he is, he only remembers to bring the last single boat that he made last two or three years. “That day someone from the village passed by asking me to build a canoe to go down the Po Ko stream to catch the fish” – Old Ahoh said. Over the seasons, old A Hyh’s feet were slow, his back was getting tired, but the old craftsman was still diligently carrying his ax in the woods for a week, following the sound of the puffer looking for a tree, and then passing away. For a few days, when it was carved into the carve, the boat smelled of wood and stars was worshiped in the temple and taken down the river … “The wooden boat is not only for the Ja Rai people, but most of the ethnic people living by the rivers do. However, not everyone knows how to make a beautiful boat, ”said Old Ahoh. The old man told in detail the steps to make the boat quite meticulously, from selecting trees, setting the size, making the bow and stern, cutting the boat bed, making the boat body, making the boat bottom, making the boat beautiful, boat alignment, paddle. The polome and the shrine are the two most durable boat types. When made of this tree, the wood will not crack, very lightly, float in the water without being submerged. Because of its quality, a single canoe has a lifespan of 5 – 10 years, and a “longevity” to 20-30 years. Timber used to hike the canoe must meet the conditions such as large body with a diameter of 0.6 – 1m, and a height of 7 – 10m. The wood should be soft and malleable when fresh and when it is dry it is light, not warping in the sun or when it is submerged in water. If the tree is located near a residential area, close to the river or lake, it will be more profitable for the transportation and testing process when the boat is completed. One of the things to note is that when choosing a hewn timber tree, the tree does not have puffiness, there are not many wooden hooks. The corked trees are more likely to crack when the boat is in use in the future. Trees have a lot of expensive, very difficult to cut. The tools used to make the canoe used to only have ax, machete and horizontal ax to make. The bottom of the boat is usually hewn, smooth, with a thickness of 5cm or more. The small, flat bottom of the boat will create a balance for the boat when transporting, helping the boatman to be convenient to use. Must be approved by the Forest Nurse Old A Hyh said that all things forest and mountains have the Prince (gods). Forests are the places where the mountain Yàng dwells in, the tree temple lives, and the temple of the river is born. Therefore, in order to have wood to hew the wooden boat, one must buy offerings to the temple. A single wooden boat has to go through many different rituals such as offering to cut trees, offering to bring trees to the village, offering to lower the boat … According to the old Penh, if the tree felling is not approved by the Yàng, In an uncertain situation, the chiseled boat suddenly cracks, breaks or is quickly damaged when used. In addition to the difficulty of raw materials, there are still boat workers here After the hewn boat is finished, an important step is to test the boat on the waterways to ensure the boat is balanced, surfing, easy and safe transportation; Artisans have to bring boats to rivers and lakes for assessment and calibration. After the crafting was completed, the boat was turned upside down and used the heat of the fire to smooth the trough. The wood carved from the tree trunk must be used to cook the rice cooker to show loyalty to Yàng. In the midst of the blue sky of the great, in the roar of the rapids, the boat still glides gently like a petal who dropped on the river. Legend on the drifting line In Sa Binh commune, only Lung Leng village has a canoe. Everyone in the village knows how to craft a boat, but only a few people know about the balance, nose and tail section, of which the most talented is Old A Hyh, or A Nho – one of the famous artisans. in the construction of the canoe. If in the villages of ethnic minorities struggling to worry about losing a single wooden boat, in Lung Leng village, that worry seems to have eased somewhat. In addition to the difficulty of raw materials, here are still the craftsmen, the people who make the boats like Old A Hyh, the A Nho craftsman, and there are young people who tend to the traditions such as A Dut, A Luoi, A Tuan. Elder A Hyh pointed at the canoe boats lying on the river wharf, telling us in a sad voice: “With villagers here, nowadays, only a few families use boats to go fishing. in the river. Is it only in competitions, festivals, or sailing in the Ningnong season! ” Boat racing on the rivers Dak Bla, Kon Brai, Po Ko, Se San has been around for a long time, initially spontaneous races between young people when rowing across the river to get to the fields. Bigger is a challenging challenge race between the youths from one village to the other during the festive season. This is the basis for forming the traditional canoe boat race in Kon Tum province in the beginning of the new spring. For the village boy, good boating and good fishing are one of the criteria for the girls to choose to be a warrior. Therefore, becoming a good rower, especially a good boat racer, is always the goal of each village’s striving. And so on and on, but spring is the season where the river resounds with glorious poetic songs. Rowing canoe is very strenuous work A current fact is that, despite its special significance, associated with the cultural life of ethnic minorities living along rivers and lakes in Kon Tum province, however, due to the development of preservation, conservation of canoeing and cultural activities related to canoe boats have been significantly affected. Specifically, the number of canoe boats in the villages has been decreasing over time due to damage during use. Meanwhile, the policy of forest management and protection has been strictly implemented, thus significantly affecting the process of searching and exploiting forest timber to make a wooden boat of the people. Over time, the forest recedes more and more, the large timber makes boats scarce. Especially the appearance of motorbikes made the river fun cool. People are racing to sell boats. Each boat that is still in use for over ten years only costs a few hundred to 1 million dong depending on the size and size. Still know that it can’t be helped but Old A Hyh still feels … From past to present, not only a bridge connecting the two banks, helping ethnic minorities, the image of a single boat associated with the process of labor and production of ethnic minorities. Kon Tum province is also a strong source of inspiration for a contingent of creative artists in various types of arts such as poetry, music, photography, painting and statues. In particular, the unique boat is also a unique means to serve tourism activities to experience and explore in Kon Tum river region.

The project has a total budget of about 68 billion VND from commercial loans and reciprocal capital of EVNCPC. Artwork: Mai Phuong / BNEWS / TTXVN

To meet the need to release capacity for renewable energy sources and create socio-economic development momentum in the northern region of Kon Tum province, Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) has just implemented the project. Improve transmission capacity of Dak Ha 110kV transmission line – Kon Tum 220kV transformer station.

The project has a total budget of about 68 billion VND from commercial loans and reciprocal capital of EVNCPC.

Accordingly, the 110 kV Dak Ha transmission line – the 20 kV Kon Tum transformer station is the lifeblood, supplying and transmitting electricity to the northern districts of Kon Tum province such as Dak Ha, Dak To, Ngoc Hoi, Dak Glei.

However, with the potential to develop renewable energy sources such as hydroelectricity, wind power, and solar power, Kon Tum has attracted many businesses to invest in renewable energy projects.

This leads to the line’s capacity to carry the load not enough to release capacity, regularly implementing the reduction, causing damage to investors and affecting the local economy.

The project to improve transmission capacity of Dak Ha 110 kV transmission line – 220 kV Kon Tum substation was commenced by Kon Tum Power Company in March 2020, with the scale of new construction of dual-circuit lines from transformer station The 220 kV Kon Tum voltage to the Dak Ha 110 kV transformer station, more than 14 km in length, was newly built, replacing the entire old line with insufficient capacity with galvanized steel poles, using ACSR-300/39 conductors and the modern dual-circuit 110 kV line connection.

Currently, the project has been completed and energized by Kon Tum Power Company and put into use in March 2021. The completion and putting into operation of the project is very important in promoting the socio-economic development of the locality, contributing to ensuring energy security, improving electricity supply reliability and reducing losses. power failure in the northern districts of Kon Tum province.

Mr. Hoang Danh Chuyen’s family (village 1, Ha Mon commune, Dak Ha district) currently uses 1 transformer station to cultivate more than 17 hectares of coffee, fruit trees and fish ponds.

“When the line has not been upgraded yet, the current often flickers, sometimes power outages, so it is difficult for the family to focus on production. Now, the upgraded power line has helped to stabilize the power source, so irrigation with electric pumps is more convenient and economical. ”, Mr. Hoang Danh Chuyen shared.

In June 2020, Ngoc Wang Electricity Investment Joint Stock Company invested in building a roof-top solar power project on an area of more than 8,000 m2, in Dak Ha district, with a total investment of 15 billion VND / MW. .

However, the capacity of the 110 kV Dak Ha transmission line is limited, so the company’s revenue is only 180 million dong / month.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ngoc Wang Electricity Investment Joint Stock Company shared, when the 110 kV Dak Ha line was invested and upgraded, the electricity system was transferred smoothly, no an overload occurs; from there, helping the company’s revenue to reach more than 300 million / month.

Through the project to improve the capacity of the 110 kV transmission line Dak Ha – the 220 kV Kon Tum transformer station, nearly 20 small and medium hydropower plants and more than 80 rooftop solar power projects using power lines have been guaranteed. Electricity supply protection and capacity transmission to the national power system.

Deputy Director of Kon Tum Electricity Company Nguyen Thanh Phuong said that the project has helped increase safety in operation and release capacity for hydropower and solar power plants in the region with a capacity of about 240. MW; at the same time, to be able to release the capacity of regional electricity development planning in the coming time, while ensuring electricity supply to meet the needs of socio-economic development, security and national defense in the region. Central – Central Highlands in general and Kon Tum province in particular./.
