27P53 hybrid rice model in Thanh Chuong, Nghe An. Pioneer (now Corteva Agriscience) has pioneered in investment, research and development of new generation 3-line hybrid rice varieties. By applying scientific and technological advances, especially molecular biotechnology, successfully hybridized and commercialized the rice variety PHB71, which is one of the first high-quality hybrid rice varieties that retains high yield. planted in Vietnam in 2010. The year 2019 marks a new turning point in the research, introduction, selection and development of 3-line hybrid rice, when Corteva Agriscience launched the 27P53 rice variety. This is a new generation 3-line hybrid rice that has been evaluated by the Scientific Council for Seed Recognition of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as a rice variety with outstanding yield and quality, wide adaptability, good resistance to pests and diseases and adverse external conditions. The variety was officially recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in October 2019. The 27P53 variety has a short TGST, only from 120-125 days in the spring crop, 100-105 days in the summer-autumn crop and the Mekong Delta. After the 27P53 rice variety was officially recognized, farmers in the rice growing areas received and planted it on a large scale throughout the provinces of Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Yen Bai, Cao Bang, Dak Lak… bringing high economic efficiency. . Farmer Luu Xuan Bay, Phu Thanh commune, Yen Thanh, Nghe An, shared: “Through the practice of 3 production seasons, the 27P53 rice variety is easy to sow, the seeds germinate well, the seedling has good cold tolerance, and the tillering is healthy. and concentrated, less ineffective, resistant to pests and diseases. Especially, rice variety 27P53 has outstanding resistance to falling, high yield from 8-9 tons/ha, high quality rice and rice. The rice grain is long, less white, clear, and the rice is soft, and when cooled, the rice still retains its original softness, this is the best hybrid rice variety that I have ever grown. Model of a large sample field (65.67 ha) spring 2021 crop in Yen Thanh, Nghe An. According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Duc, Director of Nghe An Plantation and Plant Protection Sub-Department: “Nghe An is a large hybrid rice growing province with more than 40,000 ha/year. The presence of good varieties such as 27P53 is of great significance to the locality because some varieties have not kept their original stability.” Present in Vietnam since 1995, Corteva Agriscience always strives not only to provide innovative and sustainable solutions but also to improve the quality of life of the community. The introduction of 3-line hybrid rice varieties such as 27P31, 27P53 into production contributes to helping farmers increase productivity, quality and economic efficiency from rice cultivation. “With more than 200 years of expertise and experience in the field of agriculture, as well as for the past 25 years with Vietnam Agriculture, Corteva Agriscience is committed to continuing to accompany Vietnamese farmers”, Mr. Ngo Lanh, Sales Director Corteva Agriscience Vietnam shared. Corteva Agrisciences is a merger of 3 companies Dow AgroSciences, DuPont Crop Protection & DuPont Pioneer with the goal of becoming an independent agricultural company leading in seed technology, pesticides and digital agriculture, helping to maximize optimize farmers’ productivity as well as build a sustainable agriculture globally. DuPont Crop Protection was founded in 1802, Dow AgroSciences was founded in 1897 and Pioneer was founded in 1926. Over the past 200 years, the three companies have provided groundbreaking, sustainable solutions in control. insects, weeds, pests and diseases, and pioneering the research and development of hybrid rice and maize hybrids that help farmers improve yields and crop quality worldwide. 2018 marked a turning point in the history of the global agricultural industry when 3 companies completed the merger to officially operate under the name Corteva Agriscience.

Dr. Le Hung Phong – Director of the Center for Research and Development of Hybrid Rice (Institute of Food and Food Plants) – with a new generation of hybrid rice. Photo: Duong Dinh Tuong. Advantages and disadvantages of domestic hybrid rice Dr. Le Hung Phong – Director of the Center for Research and Development of Hybrid Rice (Institute of Food Plants and Food Plants), who was black because of sunburn, just led me to visit the new generation hybrids mentioned. When he was a student at the University of Agriculture I, he himself chose to be a rice breeder, and his graduation thesis was also about hybrid rice, guided by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Tram. She advised: “If you like this job, then go to the Center for Research and Development of Hybrid Rice.” At that time, this unit was just established in 1994. Until now this is still the only research center in this field. According to Mr. Phong, if the southern part of the breed is mainly from the IRRI International Rice Research Institute, the northern part is mainly from China, both hybrid and pure. Research on hybrid rice in our country can be divided into several stages: From 1995 to 2000, we basically researched and perfected and mastered the technology of F1 seed production and production of parental lines imported from China. Country. From 2000 – 2010 mainly use the available Chinese mother line to cross with his father’s line. Therefore, the hybrid advantage in yield as well as quality of the domestic variety cannot exceed that of the imported Chinese variety. From there, we oriented, in addition to using imported materials from that source, to improve and introduce sterility genes, restore genes, and create new Vietnamese parent materials. In the period of 2011 – 2015, University of Agriculture I (now the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture) and the Center for Research and Development of Hybrid Rice under the Vietnam Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology (now part of the Food Crop Institute). food plants) has created parent lines with its own orientation such as E15S, T6S, AMS35S, D116S, AMS211A,14A… These are the mother lines of some quality Vietnamese hybrid rice varieties such as HQ19, Aromatic hybrid 6, HYT124… In the basic spring crop, we use Chinese hybrid rice varieties because they have more advantages in yield and shape, but the main crop uses two-line hybrid rice varieties produced in the country because of the short growing time, better resistance to pests and diseases, better quality. Currently, the quality of imported hybrid rice varieties is getting better and better, such as: Thai Xuyen 111; Ly2099; LP1601… Besides, we have also successfully chosen to create quality two-line hybrid rice varieties that can grow two crops in a year such as HQ19, Hybrid Aroma 6, HYT124, MCH2… Close-up of new hybrid rice. Photo: Duong Dinh Tuong. The general orientation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is to select hybrid rice varieties that are resistant to pests and diseases, improve quality, and respond to climate change. Indeed, we also have success in breeding such as having parental lines for quality breeding, transferring genes for resistance to pests and diseases. So far, we have varieties that can be said to be of equal quality to the best imported hybrid rice today, Thai Xuyen 111 (sometimes selling up to 150,000 VND/kg), for example, two-line hybrid rice HQ19, HYT124, Hybrid aromatic 6, MCH2… with a selling price of 100,000 – 120,000 VND/kg, some promising three-line hybrid rice varieties, such as HYT325, HYT315, with rice seeds over 7mm long, clear rice, amylose content 16-18%, fragrant rice. However, one of the weaknesses of the domestic varieties is that the shape in the field is not as eye-catching as the Chinese hybrid rice varieties because they have technologies and genetic resources that not only create high yields, The quality and shape are still very nice… We have created our own parent lines from Chinese materials, unfortunately, we have not effectively exploited the male sterility genes from native rice and domestic wild rice. Select varieties in the direction of rice for export According to Mr. Phong, recently, the hybrid rice market has gone down because of the competition of high-quality pure rice, especially in the Red River Delta provinces. In addition, due to industrialization and urbanization, the area of rice cultivation has decreased, the demand for food is not large, the price of imported seeds is high, and the source of seeds cannot be proactive while domestic goods can only meet 30-35 years. % need. The goal of developing hybrid rice in the coming time is not necessarily to increase the cultivated area, but to raise the proportion of domestic products from more than 30-35% to 40.50%…, conquering the market by high quality seeds. Dr. Le Hung Phong: “The results of our work up to now can be said to have not been as expected”. Photo: Duong Dinh Tuong. Dr. Le Hung Phong confided: “In the past, we used to joke: “Although hybrid rice is hybrid, the yield is still twice that of normal rice”, but in fact, research shows that “to create hybrid rice varieties, time Time and effort must be twice that of pure rice.” For example, the research time to select a pure rice variety can be 5 years, but it takes 10 years for hybrid rice. Moreover, the production of hybrid rice seeds by external pollination, depends a lot on weather conditions, on the characteristics of pollen recipients and pollens of the mother and father lines, whether parents combine to create an advantage or not… In short, the production of hybrid rice seeds requires a large investment but the risk is high, so well-known enterprises like ThaiBinhseed have not invested in the production of hybrid rice seeds, Vinaseed only focuses on the production of hybrid rice varieties. old system, easy to do like Nhi uu 838 and now it’s time to start with new varieties imported from China. Besides, there are also private enterprises, the provincial Seed Center has copyright like Cuong Tan Co., Ltd., Hai Phong High-Tech Agriculture Joint Stock Company, Lao Cai Seed Center, Thanh Hoa Institute of Agricultural Science, Vietseed … to invest in domestic hybrid rice production. Currently, the official hybrid rice research and breeding system only has the Crop Research and Development Institute of the Vietnam National Academy of Agriculture and the Hybrid Rice Research and Development Center of the Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants. . We are implementing a program to select and breed hybrid rice that is qualified for export. In addition, starting research on selecting hybrid rice varieties to cope with climate change. HYT 315 – new generation hybrid rice at the Center for Research and Development of Hybrid Rice. Photo: Duong Dinh Tuong. Making good seeds, but selling copyrights at this time is difficult because two or three successful harvests and one loss is zero production effort, so businesses are not eager. There is a new direction of combining with businesses to jointly invest, share profits as well as risks. The Center is now a partially autonomous (45-50%) non-business unit. The results of our work to date can be said to have not been as expected. For example, the phenotype of domestic hybrid rice compared with Chinese hybrid rice is still poor, and needs to be improved to be closer to imported varieties. What I regret most is that the opportunity to contribute to the development of domestic hybrid rice production is that at the time when HYT100 was recognized as a variety, there was no strong business to invest in it. The quality of the HYT100 is good, but there are difficulties in seed production, which are also common weaknesses of quality hybrid rice varieties. If this weakness can be improved, the opportunity for development will be better. I think there are still many things that can be exploited and believe that hybrid rice will grow well. I used to go to an expert in Africa where rice is only for invited guests, proving that the rice grain still plays a huge role in the world with densely populated countries or need to ensure food security. In order to develop hybrid rice and pure rice in particular and the seed industry in general, if the State and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development do not have policies to invest in-depth in domestic research, it will be difficult to compete with foreign products. Large enterprises, with a lot of money, only invest in research at the level of exploration and testing of varieties, not in-depth research. Therefore, appropriate attention and investment is still needed for non-business units doing research to ensure continuity and to produce good products.

Mr. Vien Long Binh, aged 91, is considered the father of hybrid rice. Photo: CCTV. “We recognize and highly appreciate the contributions of Professor and Academician Vien Long Binh to the world agricultural science in general and China in particular, especially appreciate the results of hybridization to create The world’s first hybrid rice was developed in 1973. With this success, he has helped nearly 20% of the world’s population escape hunger and contributed to making China one of the world’s leading rice producers,” said Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan. First letter of condolence, sent on May 23, 2021, to the family of the late Professor, Academician Yuan Longping and the Chinese agricultural industry. Mr. Yuan Longping was born in 1930, is China’s leading agricultural scientist on hybrid rice. He and his colleagues have contributed to bringing rice yield from 4.5 tons/ha to 15 tons/ha. This is considered the key to helping China solve the food security problem for more than a billion people in this country. Thanks to the late Professor Vien Long Binh, hybrid rice has been replicated throughout Africa, America and Asia. In Vietnam, the first generation of hybrid rice that was put into wide production was the variety Bac Uu 64 (also known as Tap Giao 4 – TG4), starting in the early 1990s. Thanks to this variety, along with the following varieties. such as San uu 63 (called Tap Giao 1), San uu Que 99 (Tap Giao 5), Vietnam has stabilized domestic food. After nearly ten years of access, our country has self-produced high-quality hybrid rice varieties such as HYT100, HYT 57, LC2, LC3, especially VL20 and TH3-3. However, the pioneer in the development of hybrid rice still belongs to the late Professor Vien Long Binh. Minister Le Minh Hoan continued: “In his working life, Professor, Academician Vien Long Binh has visited, worked, and supported projects/programs on hybrid rice many times, and trained staff. Research and technology transfer for Vietnam’s agricultural industry These are solid agricultural scientific foundations, gradually contributing to poverty reduction, ensuring food security and creating an export miracle. rice export of Vietnam”. At the end of the letter, Minister Hoan expressed his gratitude to the man who is considered the father of hybrid rice: “In the face of infinite grief, on behalf of Vietnam’s agricultural industry and in my personal name, I would like to send to the whole family of Mr. and the Chinese agriculture industry deeply condolences for this great loss and grief.”

Working session between Minister Le Minh Hoan and NNVN Newspaper on the morning of May 22. Photo: Dinh Tung. On the morning of May 22, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan visited and worked at the Newspaper Vietnamese culture . Also attending were Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep and leaders of some units in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. ‘The mission of the press is to transmit multidimensional information’ Minister Le Minh Hoan is a regular newspaper writer under the familiar pseudonym Cyclo. Therefore, when talking with staff, reporters, editors and employees of the Newspaper, Vietnamese culture , he did not talk much about the responsibilities and functions of the newspaper in general. Instead, Minister Le Minh Hoan spends most of his time sharing inspirational stories about journalism. “Why did the founder of Apple Corporation use the apple logo as a logo? Because, life is not perfect and each of us has to work to make the dent fill up. up”. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan. Photo: Dinh Tung. The minister raised the issue and continued: “Because nothing is perfect, we have room to think, create and answer the questions why, why and why?”. When journalists go to the fields, wade fields, and meet relatives, they must always ask the question, why are farmers still poor? Why is the countryside undeveloped? Why is the agricultural value chain broken? Why do we want to eat clean but the food is not safe?… Minister Le Minh Hoan said: Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung – Minister of Information and Communications said a very good sentence: “The word question will stimulate discovery and investigation”. Good journalists know how to ask good questions. Sometimes the question is more important than the answer. In front of the team of journalists Vietnamese culture, Mr. Le Minh Hoan emphasized: “Once upon a time, journalism was a tool for propaganda, but later on, we realized that the mission of the press is not only one-way communication but a multi-dimensional information transmission channel. “. It is information from life that will lead to the adjustment of the leader’s decision. If that transmission channel is blocked, it will be difficult to grasp the voice of life. Elevating the role of the press in the current era, the Commander of the Agriculture and Rural Development sector said: The development of the press and media will create added value for the connected economy. If we do well, we can activate an entire society, activate classes, change production and business models. “Journalists themselves contribute to creating added value for agriculture by communicating new models, new ways of doing things, and new products,” said Minister Le Minh Hoan. “The value of a product includes cost and intangible factors such as local traditions, history, culture… And we not only sell products but also emotions to consumers.” . Therefore, journalists also need to know how to breathe life into the products. In order for readers to have feelings about their work, journalists first need to read a lot, travel a lot, be moved and be moved by the things they witness. For example, when propagating about building a new countryside, we should not put too much emphasis on 19 criteria, on infrastructure. “New rural propaganda is about both the core and the soul”. When returning to the locality, do not see the new concrete road, the new cultural house, the new bridge, the new medical station but rush to rejoice. The village must retain its soul, retain its walls of green trees, a fresh environment, a harmony between people, nature and socio-cultural institutions. “If the city is the place to compare the level of civilization, the village is the place to compare the history and culture of the nation”, the Minister shared. Multimedia press agency Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Vietnamese culture Nguyen Ngoc Thach said that in October 2020, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development approved the Project on Development and Management of Newspapers. Vietnamese culture to 2025, with orientation to 2030 to realize the development goals of the Newspaper Vietnamese culture “becoming a multi-media, multi-platform press agency with a comprehensive ecosystem”. At the same time, this is a newspaper with in-depth and specialized content that is “updated, reliable, oriented, spread and effective” on agriculture and rural development on the basis of multimedia journalism and digital technology applications. Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper Nguyen Ngoc Thach at the meeting with leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Photo: Dinh Tung. Overview of the results achieved in the past time, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thach said, Newspaper Vietnamese culture was evaluated by the Central Committee for Propaganda and Training, the Vietnam Journalists Association, and fellow press agencies as “one of the press agencies with a streamlined apparatus, high-quality human resources, effective and efficient operation. present results”. “All rivers flow, stand still and fall behind” “Current journalism activities pose huge problems, changing or stopping, and how to change to live is difficult,” Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep suggested. He said that the newspaper Vietnamese culture have overcome difficult times, are the few newspapers that have been continuously awarded certificates of merit by the Central Committee for Propaganda in the past 2 years, for both keeping the principle of purpose and improving the material life. , spirit for cadres, civil servants, public employees and employees. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep. Photo: Dinh Tung. However, if we just stop at that level, it will not work. Because “all rivers flow, if we stand still, we will definitely fall behind”. Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep proposed the Minister, leaders of agencies and units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to create conditions and closely coordinate to report to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Vietnamese culture have resources to continue investing in infrastructure, equipment and technology, etc. to constantly develop, thereby fulfilling the task of information and propaganda of the agriculture and rural development sector. Mr. Nguyen Van Viet, Director of the Planning Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) said, Newspaper Vietnamese culture is a self-financed non-business unit, but over the years the newspaper has done very well the functions and tasks assigned by the Ministry. At the same time, the newspaper has also built a propaganda ecosystem commensurate with the development requirements in the 4.0 period.

At this time, all kinds of Vietnamese mangoes landed on the ‘web market’ with unprecedented cheap prices, even cheaper than vegetables.
The report of the Department of Agricultural Product Processing and Market Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) shows that the export of vegetables and fruits, especially fruit products, is having a good recovery. Accordingly, in the first four months of this year, fruit and vegetable exports reached US$1.35 billion, up 9.5% over the same period in 2020.

Especially, in the first quarter of this year, Vietnam’s mango exports earned 125.2 million USD, up 30.6% over the same period in 2020. However, these days, the price of mangoes at the market has dropped sharply. For example: An Giang low-seeded mangoes are reduced to 9,000-15,000 VND/kg depending on the type, many places sell for 15,000 VND/kg, Vip Taiwanese mangoes are only 7,000 VND/kg, Australian mangoes are advertised. As for export goods, the price has also decreased to 15,000 VND/kg,… Not only that, mangoes are also landing in the markets in extremely large quantities. So, on the “online market” instead of selling by weight as before, mangoes are now sold in sets of several pounds or sold in boxes. Mangoes are being sold on the “web market” for as cheap as vegetables Wholesalers said that currently Vietnamese mangoes are as cheap as vegetables, retail by weight, shipping is more expensive than mangoes. So, they switched to selling in sets of a few pounds or in boxes for convenience. Ordering a whole box of 15kg Taiwanese mangoes for only 95,000 VND, Ms. Doan Thi Thanh Hai from Nguyen Cong Hoan (Ba Dinh, Hanoi), said: “A box for only 95,000 VND, the price is only about 6,700 VND/ kg”. According to Ms. Hai, in the past, she often had to buy Taiwanese mangoes with flat seeds at the price of 35,000-45,000 VND/kg depending on the time. 4 days ago, she also ordered Australian mango with large fruit, red skin, ripe yellow inside, sweet and delicious, priced at only 15,000 VND/kg. “In previous years, Vietnamese mangoes were usually more expensive,. And now the opposite. At the market, Chinese mini mangoes cost up to 25,000-30,000 VND/kg, while Vietnamese mangoes are as cheap as vegetables,” she commented. Therefore, on this occasion, Ms. Hai did not buy foreign fruits anymore, but switched to buying Vietnamese mangoes to support farmers to consume products. The retail price of mangoes at the market mostly fell to less than 10,000 VND/kg (photo: BH) On the “online market”, Vietnamese mangoes are also crowded with customers because the price is so cheap. Most women choose to buy in boxes of 9-15 kg/barrel because the price is cheaper than buying in sets, 3-5 kg/set, depending on the type. Talk to PV. VietNamNet, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy – a large online fruit seller in Cau Giay (Hanoi) admitted that on this occasion most mango prices have dropped sharply. Some are halved, some are now only 1/3 of what they used to be. Ms. Thuy said that on this occasion, she sells many kinds of mangoes such as: acacia mango, Australian mango, Taiwanese mango, flat-seeded mango, etc. However, each time she imports a different type of mango for customers to choose from. . Mangoes do not retail 1-2kg as before, but are divided into 5kg bags or sold in boxes of 9-15kg. “Because of the unprecedented low price, on this occasion, the number of customers buying mangoes has increased dramatically,” she said and revealed that it is normal for her to consume about 1-2 tons of mangoes a day. One day, she sold out more than 3 tons, because most of the customers bought by the box. Like last week, she sold out about 10 tons of mangoes of all kinds. On this occasion, the harvest season was in full swing with the Covid-19 epidemic, so the price of mangoes at the growers plummeted (photo: BH) Ms. Bui Thi Tram from Hoang Van Thai (Thanh Xuan, Hanoi), also said that in the past half month, she has consumed around 1 ton of low-seeded mangoes every day. “A lot of people will not believe it. But low-seeded mangoes are very cheap. Big and beautiful fruit is only 15,000 VND/kg I sell in sets of 5kg, customers buy less than 1 set, buy 2 sets more, so the amount of mangoes sold every day is very large,” she shared. Last April, many growers in An Giang and Long An said that mangoes were in the harvest season but faced difficulties in exporting due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, so the price plummeted. Ms. An, a mango farmer in Chau Doc (An Giang), lamented that if Hoa Loc mango was purchased for 40,000 VND/kg, now it only sells for 20,000 VND/kg, Thai mangoes are still sold. 15,000 VND/kg, Taiwanese mango varieties are sold at the garden for only 3,000 VND/kg. Traders buying mangoes in Long An also said that because mangoes in the southern provinces were in the midst of a busy harvest and encountered an epidemic, the price dropped. Accordingly, acacia mangoes reduced to 4,000-5,000 VND/kg, Cat Chu mango 9,000-10,000 VND/kg, Hoa Loc sand mango 15,000-17,000 VND/kg.

Previously, authorized by the Prime Minister, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh signed the National Quality Gold Award in 2020 to 19 enterprises and awarded the National Quality Award in 2020 to 36 enterprises. The National Quality Award aims to honor enterprises with outstanding achievements in improving the quality of products, services, competitiveness and operational efficiency, integration with the regional and world economy. . In the years 2019 and 2020, there were 116 enterprises signed by the Prime Minister the Decision to award the National Quality Award, of which 40 enterprises were awarded the National Quality Gold Award. At the Awards Ceremony of the National Quality Awards and the Asia-Pacific International Quality Awards 2019 and 2020, the Que Lam Group is the pioneer enterprise in organic farming that was honored. The year 2019 and 2020 mark the great achievements of the Que Lam Group, making an important contribution to the development of the agricultural industry. The use of probiotics in Que Lam Group’s livestock models overcame African swine fever in 2019 and has been directed by the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to replicate the model suitable for farming. households to many provinces across the country. Mr. Khac Ngoc Ba, Deputy General Director of Que Lam Group received the National Quality Award and Asia-Pacific International Quality Award 2019, 2020. Photo: I Lich. Que Lam Group has carried out 5 research projects to serve biosafety breeding, including: Researching and proposing the process of producing raw materials for feed in pig farming in the direction of organic and biosafety. learning with the goal of building organic production processes for some crops as raw materials for organic pig feed production, biosecurity for farmers and providing enough inputs. for an organic feed factory about 50,000 tons / year. Along with that is the topic “Research on effective use of Lacto powder T in organic feed and drinking water for pig farming in the direction of organic and biosecurity” with the aim of determining the optimal utilization rate. Lacto powder T in feed and drinking water for pig farming. Research, transfer and master the technology to develop Japan’s leading advanced technology factory with a production capacity of 10,000 tons / year. Collecting organic by-products, serving microbiological organic fertilizer factory with capacity of 100,000 tons / year All are aimed at forming a circular economic chain in agriculture. After nearly thirty years of hard work with organic agriculture, with the fire from the head, Chairman of Que Lam Group Nguyen Hong Lam, up to now, Que Lam has built a circulating agricultural ecosystem. Farming and Ranching. That ecosystem includes 14 member units operating throughout the country, to both Cambodia and Laos, 8 microbiological organic fertilizer factories, and thousands of models linked with farmers in provinces. and especially the 4F complex in Thua Thien – Hue province, the first 4F complex in Vietnam. It is important that with the persistence and steadfastness on the journey of organic farming, the Que Lam Group has contributed to changing the perception and thinking of farmers, scientists, and managers in this field. . If in 2018 there were only 32 provinces accompanying Que Lam on an area of nearly 60,000 hectares of crops, by 2020, 51 provinces and cities will join in on an area of more than 100,000 hectares. These are very encouraging results, showing that awareness of an organic agriculture has changed the landscape of agricultural production in Vietnam.

Leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development visited the forestry seed models applying scientific and technological advances of the Vietnam Forest Science Institute. Photo: Iftib. Achievements in the field of forest seed The Forest Seed and Biotechnology Research Institute under the Vietnam Forest Science Institute is a leading research unit in the forestry sector on the application of biotechnology in forest seed improvement. Researches on biotechnology of the Institute are oriented in three main directions: Research to complete the propagation procedures for newly selected varieties to serve the transfer of propagation techniques for the same original breeds. seed research and production units; Using molecular indicators in research on selecting high yield, high quality and breeding new varieties using mutation and genetic engineering, and has achieved many outstanding achievements. The Institute has successfully researched and built propagation procedures for nearly 30 hybrid acacia, acacia, cajeput, eucalyptus and eucalyptus hybrids and transferred them to many production facilities. Several propagation processes on an industrial scale have been completed by the Institute through the implementation of pilot production projects and projects, of which 2 propagation processes have been recognized as technical progress. . The Institute has transferred the process of industrial-scale micro-propagation to more than 30 production facilities across the country and these facilities have mastered the technology, some units have been able to produce 10 million seedlings / year, partially meeting the need of planting clones. With clonal propagation, the original seed used as a material source for multiplication through many times will have the phenomenon of aging. The seed degradation will reduce the propagation efficiency and degradation of forest quality. As a supplier of original breeds for production, the Institute has conducted research to build and complete the process of restoring and rejuvenating the original seed source, ensuring the quality of the original seed for production. Therefore, after 20 years, the hybrid acacia hybrids selected for creation and recognition in the previous period are still effective in production, with high productivity and quality and are trusted by the production units. The forestry seed sector has achieved a great deal of success through the application of biotechnology advances. Photo: Iftib. Application of molecular indicators and mutagenic polyploids The application of molecular indicators in breeding has been promoted by the Institute to shorten the breeding time as well as improve the efficiency of breeding programs. Through applied research, the Institute has selected 21 SSR indicators related to fast growth in hybrid acacia, 20 SSR indicators related to growth traits in hybrid eucalyptus. With the use of these indicators, 7 lines of acacia hybrid (BB055, BV350, BV376, BV434, BV523, BV584 and BV586) achieved yield from 26 to 35m3 / ha / year, 10 lines of hybrid eucalyptus grow rapidly (UC16 , UC51, CU113, CU123, UC52, CU182, UE72, UC55, CU98, CU82) yield from 30.7 to 45m3 / ha / year were selected. In which, 7 lines of hybrid acacia BB055, BV350, BV376, BV434, BV523, BV584 and BV584 and 2 lines of hybrid eucalyptus CU98 and CU82 have been recognized as a new forest plant variety allowing for production. In recent years, transgenic studies increase the length of wood fibers ( EcHb1 ) for uro eucalyptus and hybrid eucalyptus has also been implemented by the Institute. Scientific staff of the Institute developed the vector structure GWB2 / 35S / EcHB1 / NOS carrying the target gene. EcHB1 . Thereby building the gene transfer process EcHB1 increased wood fiber length with transgenic efficiency of 1.06%, from which 19 lines of UU hybrid eucalyptus (of which 4 lines were identified with wood fiber length exceeded 14% or more compared to the control). ) and 40 transgenic UP hybrid eucalyptus lines carrying the target gene EcHB1 . These lines have normal morphology and grow equal or faster than the control plants. These transgenic varieties are currently being continuously tested before being put into production practice. In addition to the research on breeding by molecular indicator and gene transfer, the research on polyploid breeding by the method of causing mutation in combination with crossbreeding has been deployed by the Institute for Acacia species. The Institute has successfully created varieties of Acacia and tetraploid acacia from improved seed sources and crossbreed with diploid varieties to create triploid hybrid acacia. Biotechnology plays an increasingly important role in agriculture in general and forestry in particular. Photo: Vafs. Dr. Nguyen Duc Kien, Director of the Forest Research and Biotechnology Institute said. In order to achieve these successes, apart from the collective efforts of the Forest Research Institute and Forest Biotechnology, it is impossible not to mention the help of ministries, branches, especially the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as well as other scientists at home and abroad. However, these are only initial results, so they do not fully reflect the potential of biotechnology in research and selection of forest plants. In the coming time, in addition to the implementation of traditional breeding methods based on natural variables, the research and application of biotechnology including the use of molecular indicators and techniques. Genetic transformation and gene editing will be one of the breakthrough research directions and be focused on developing in order to improve the role and contribution rate of biotechnology in forest plant breeding programs. Thanks to a strategic and methodical implementation of the seed improvement program, the research of polyploid breeding has achieved certain results, in which the Institute for Forest Breeding and Biotechnology has achieved certain results. selected, created and recognized 4 triploid hybrid acacia lines X101, X102, X201 and X205 as new forest plant varieties according to the Decision No. 1458 / QD-BNN-TCLN, dated 20/4/2020 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with Yields range from yield from 26 to 35 m3 / ha / year. The wood properties of the triploid acacia varieties at the age of 4 years are equivalent to that of the diploid hybrid acacia at the age of 5-7, meeting the basic requirements of raw wood for the production of paper, MDF, board peeled boards.

Ants egg cakes, a specialty of the Cao Bang region, are ‘attracting’ Ha Thanh customers. Along the dried mosquito net becomes a specialty, sold at expensive prices.
Ants eggs cake is very popular

On the net market, in addition to the wormwood cakes, tapioca cakes, … some small traders in the highlands of Cao Bang, Bac Kan are also selling strange and fancy cakes, attracting many housewives to order. That is the ant egg cake. The main ingredient of the cake is ant eggs. This typical ethnic cake in Bac Kan and Cao Bang is sold for 60,000 VND / 5 cakes, 120,000 VND / 10 cakes. Along the drying net to make specialties, 300,000 VND / kg Along the mosquito net is a tree that grows in abundance on the banks of ponds and swamps in the countryside. Going to the city, along the mosquito net, it becomes a specialty that many people fall in love with. Along the mosquito net can be cooked with sour soup, vermicelli. Along the drying net, the price is from 300,000 VND / kg. (Photo: Dan Tri) In particular, the trees along the mosquito net are also dried to eat gradually. The Dan Tri newspaper said that compared with the fresh type, the dried type along the mosquito net is quite expensive, up to 300,000 VND / kg. According to the advertisement of the seller, the drying mosquito does not get itchy. When processing, just soak to hatch, squeeze and wash with water to cook immediately. Plums, tomatoes, chili, onions dropped on the carpet Being in the main harvest season, but plums have dropped the price of the carpet, some are still 1,000-2,000 VND / kg, only 1/8 of the previous years. At this price point, selling 1kg of plum is not enough to buy a cup of iced tea. According to the gardeners, although the price is as cheap as vegetables, plums are still dull. Traders come to buy a little, ripe red plums on the tree, but people do not bother to harvest. Meanwhile, in Hanoi, some fruit shops, street vendors are selling plums at the beginning of season 1 for 120,000-150,000 VND / kg, grade 2 plums are priced from 90,000-110,000 VND / kg, cheap. equal to 1/2 of last year. Tomatoes are in a similar situation. According to VOV, in the fields in Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province, tomatoes are in the red ripe crop, but farmers are not interested in harvesting. They even let the ripe, withered, spoiled tomatoes be picked up as feed for pigs. According to local people, this year, tomatoes are in good season, high yield, but the price is only 1/3 of the previous year, traders also do not buy. Farmers in Quang Nam are struggling when chili peppers are ripe in the garden, but there are no buyers. Chili price is only 3,500-4,000 VND / kg for domestic consumption. Due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, exporting chili peppers faced many difficulties. Onion – a specialty of Nghe. (Photo: Chau Giang) Likewise, the price of onion is also unprecedentedly cheap. As a specialty of Nghe origin, onions in Hanoi are currently priced from 30,000-50,000 VND / kg. In previous years, scallions cost 150,000-200,000 VND / kg. Nghe An is cheap in part due to the good season and the output pumpkins, so the price in the field is very cheap, only 13,000 VND / kg. Pepper prices have risen sharply After a period of sinking at the bottom, pepper – a commodity that is known as “black gold” of Vietnam – suddenly went into a price fever. Within a month, the price of this item has increased more than 4 times. In Ba Ria – Vung Tau, pepper prices increased from 17,500 VND soared to 73,000 VND / kg. Pepper prices in the provinces of Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai, Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc are all at 72,000 VND / kg, 71,000 VND / kg, 70,000 VND / kg, 74,000 VND / kg and 73,000 VND / kg, respectively. According to the Department of Agro-Processing and Market Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), the cause of pepper price fever is due to reduced supply while demand is flourishing. Fruits are reduced in price, cheaper than vegetables According to the report of the Department of Processing and Market Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), in the first March of the year, although the fruit and vegetable export has increased again, the prices of fruit at home gardeners all plummeted. there are record reductions, cheaper than vegetables. Green skin grapefruit has a record price reduction (illustration) Accordingly, the price of Taiwan mango purchased at the garden in Vinh Long is only 5,000-6,000 VND / kg; The price of mango mango also decreased to 8,000-10,000 VND / kg, while in the same period last year, the price of mango in the Mekong Delta was the lowest at 17,000 VND / kg.

On April 16, in Dak Lak, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held a conference to summarize and implement the tasks for the year 2021 of Cooperative Economy and Rural Development.
Attending the meeting were Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam, Mr. Y Giang Gry Knong, Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Le Duc Thinh, Director of Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development.

The number of cooperatives operating exceeded the set target

According to the report, by the end of March 2021, the country had nearly 17,600 agricultural cooperatives and 68 cooperative unions operating in the agricultural sector. Basically completing the target of 15,000 effective agricultural cooperatives assigned by the National Assembly and the Government.

Currently, 56/63 provinces and cities have issued a Resolution of the Provincial People’s Council on policies to encourage production and consumption of agricultural products; 48/63 provinces issued a list of key key products and commodities that need to be encouraged for development; 16/63 provinces have approved projects and joint projects of the province with 359 projects approved. In which there are 271 scientific organizations, 586,585 farmer households, 4,028 agricultural cooperatives participating in association with 1,867 enterprises. Out of more than 4,500 OCOP products, nearly 40% are owned by cooperatives and agricultural cooperatives.

According to statistics, there are 30,026 agricultural production and business farms nationwide, using 35,904 ha of land, 3.1 ha / farm on average; 3.7 employees / farm on average. The farm’s investment capital for production is VND 1,042 billion; average revenue reached 1,478 billion.

By the end of 2020, the country has 165 traditional occupations and 1,951 craft villages and traditional craft villages which have been recognized. The total number of establishments engaged in production and business in the rural industry is over 817,000, creating jobs for over 2.3 million workers, the total revenue from rural activities is over 236,000. billion VND, average income is 4 to 4.5 million VND / person / month.

In recent years, the level of mechanization of agricultural production in some stages has increased, especially for rice production. Targets for agricultural mechanization in some stages by 2020 will increase by 2-8% compared to 2019.

From 2017 to now, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has advised the Government to issue two important documents, namely Decree No. 40/2017 / ND-CP on management of salt production, processing and trading and Decision No. 1325 / QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on August 31, 2020 approving the salt industry development project for the period of 2021-2030. Salt production reaches about 1,350,000 tons, basically meeting the demand for salt in the country. To initially form industrial salt production zones in three provinces of Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan.

However, despite strong changes in both quantity and quality, the scale of revenue and the size of members of the agricultural cooperative remains small. Leadership capacity of cooperatives is still limited.

The implementation of agricultural mechanization still lacks strategy and is not synchronous. Important policies such as investment in supporting infrastructure, especially infrastructure for production and business, land policy and especially credit are still the bottlenecks.

Therefore, at the conference, many opinions said that the key point for cooperative development is human, so it is necessary to pay attention to support and improve the cooperative management capacity for the board of directors and the president of the society. board.

Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam and leaders of Dak Lak province chair the conference.

In addition, delegates also said that relevant ministries should continue to review and complete the legal system, mechanisms and policies on collective economic development, agricultural cooperatives (land, tax, credit). use …), promptly remove difficulties and problems, create conditions for the collective economy and agricultural cooperatives to develop stably.

Especially when the Free Trade Agreements take effect, the issue of product safety, quality and food security; Commodity competition will take place very fierce. With its advantages and potential, economic cooperation through cooperatives and cooperative groups will contribute to increase product value.

Main mission

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam asked localities to continue developing cooperative economies in the direction of mechanization of production, cooperation in investment in processing technology. to develop agricultural products in the direction of multidisciplinary and multi-occupations, adapting to the market economy, renewing production and business modes, in order to step by step improve the competitiveness of goods.

Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam emphasized that the task in 2021 is to continue perfecting the system of legal documents in violation of the industry law, promoting synchronous mechanization in agricultural production. Develop a rural career development strategy to 2030; Project to develop agricultural cooperatives to respond to climate change; Development of collective economy and cooperatives.

Conference scene. Photo: Quang Yen.

According to Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam, MARD is preparing to issue a circular guiding the functions, powers and tasks of the agricultural sector. Therefore, the organization of the local apparatus, depending on the situation of each locality, is structured and arranged properly, and at the same time, the local Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development advise to develop key programs and plans to help support and develop agricultural cooperatives.

“Currently, the cooperative infrastructure is very weak. Therefore, industries need to have mechanisms to support the development of cooperatives. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has tried to develop cooperative infrastructure for the past time, but it has not been as expected. We will try our best in the New Rural Program and make points in a number of projects ”, emphasized Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam.

At the end of the conference, Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam launched the 2021 Typical Handicraft Products Contest. Accordingly, the contest will receive works from September to October and summarize the awards at the Craft Village Fair. later.

“Now we must have a new mindset, that is to develop agriculture in the direction of combining multiple professions and associated with rural services. The second trend is that the OCOP Program is very effective, the rural industries are also attached to it, so we have to do research to promote this program. This is the task of the Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development to coordinate with localities in building long-term strategies ”, Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam.
