China’s passenger jet C919 is lagging behind schedule

China’s domestic C919 passenger aircraft is set to compete with Airbus and Boeing. But the approval is still missing – and there is still no date for the first delivery.

From Steffen Wurzel, ARD studio Shanghai

China’s government has invested billions in developing and building its own passenger aircraft in recent years. There are great hopes for the C919. This medium-haul aircraft from the state manufacturer Comac should be able to carry up to 190 passengers in the future. In terms of size and equipment, the C919 is comparable to the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737. “Technically, the C919 is actually an international aircraft,” says David Yu, aviation analyst and economics professor at Shanghai’s New York University. Many individual parts of the machine come from the USA and Europe. “It will be assembled in Shanghai. Yes, the C919 is a Chinese aircraft, but with a significant proportion of foreign components,” says Yu.

New Jet C919 China is now doing middle distance

The first Chinese medium-haul aircraft has successfully completed its maiden flight.

Approval in China possible this year

Their Maiden flight had the C919 four years ago. It is still unclear when the machine will be delivered. The project is several years behind schedule, which is normal for all manufacturers around the world when they develop new aircraft models.

So far, the C919 does not even have official approval from the Chinese Civil Aviation Authority (CAAC). If this approval is granted – and that could happen this year – the machine will probably only fly in China for the time being. It is still unclear whether the responsible aviation authorities in Europe (EASA) and the USA (FAA) will also approve the machine.

In 2017 the C919 took off on its maiden flight – the start of delivery is currently still open. Image: picture alliance / Andy Wong / AP / dpa

For the time being, probably only in Germany

Nevertheless: Even if the Chinese medium-haul jet is initially only allowed to fly on domestic routes in the People’s Republic, Airbus and Boeing will not be left without a trace, says aviation analyst Yu. “Asia and especially China are the largest growth markets for the aircraft industry. If you also look at who ordered the aircraft – especially Chinese airlines and leasing companies – it becomes clear that the C919 will take Airbus and Boeing’s market share in China reduce, “said Yu. In China, all airlines and even leasing companies belong to the state – or they are subject to the instructions of the communist leadership. Ultimately, this can decide which aircraft type is bought by whom. This is also a clear advantage for the state-owned Chinese manufacturer Comac

Missing computer chips Short-time work at VW and Daimler

Status: 16.06.2021 10:23 a.m.

Time and again, the production lines in car plants stand still – the manufacturers refer to the industry-wide shortage of chips. Now it hits Volkswagen and Daimler again. When will the situation improve? From Angela Göpfert, tagesschau.de There will be stoppages in the coming week at the VW main plant. In the Tiguan, Touran and Tarraco production as well as in the Golf production in the late and night shifts, the Wolfsburg switch to short-time work. In the Daimler plants in Bremen and Rastatt, short-time work is already the order of the day. The reason is once again the industry-wide shortage of chips.

    06/08/2021

Production drops slightly A lack of material slows down industry The scarcity of intermediate products is leaving its mark on German industrial production.

Interruptions cost billions

It is nowhere near the first time that the shortage of semiconductors has slowed automakers’ production. It was not until the end of May that the VW luxury subsidiary Audi at the Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm locations suffered production interruptions. BMW had been hit a few weeks earlier. The Ford plant in Cologne is also affected. The German auto industry is not alone with its problems: The US auto giant Ford calculates charges of around 2.5 billion dollars this year due to the lack of chips. The problems in the automotive industry have consequences for the entire economy. Just today, the researchers at the Munich Ifo Institute lowered their forecast for the growth of the German gross domestic product this year from 3.7 to 3.3 percent. To justify this, they also referred to bottlenecks in the delivery of intermediate products such as semiconductors.

Improvement in the third quarter?

It could take a few more weeks for a change for the better. According to experts, the automotive industry is heading for the lowest point. “We are facing the toughest six weeks,” said Murat Aksel, VW Board Member for Purchasing, recently in an interview with the “Handelsblatt”. The situation should improve again in the third quarter. Competitor Daimler also expects an improvement in the second half of the year. The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) also estimates that the situation should ease from July.

Around four million cars less

Because of the lack of chips, automakers worldwide produced 1.4 million fewer cars in the first quarter and 1.6 million in the second quarter, the BCG experts calculate. For the entire year 2021, the failures are likely to amount to four to six million vehicles.

    05/04/2021

Semiconductor alliance planned How the EU intends to fix the chip shortage Missing semiconductor components are slowing down car production worldwide.

The consulting firm Alix Partners in Munich estimates 3.9 million cars. This corresponds to a value of non-produced cars of around 91 billion euros.

Lessons from the shortage of chips

The car manufacturers have long since learned their lessons from the shortage of chips: They are carefully reviewing their supply chains and are not only expanding their warehousing for chips. After all, the supply chains have thinned out after a pandemic for more than a year, even for important intermediate products, for example in the chemical industry.

    06/07/2021

Persistent lack of chips Bosch opens chip factory in Dresden The automotive supplier Bosch will be prepared for the next chip crisis.

Security of supply is suddenly a priority again after years of just-in-time delivery. Chip manufacturers are also taking strong countermeasures and are pushing ahead with expanding their capacities at full speed. In Germany, the new high-tech chip factory from Bosch ensure regional supplies.

Misjudgments as the cause

But how did it come to that? Where does this lack of chips come from, which is currently keeping the auto industry and its employees in suspense? With the outbreak of the corona pandemic, demand for cars collapsed and chip manufacturers cut their production plans.

    05/31/2021

Current study Auto industry over again Pre-crisis level More sales and higher operating results than before the crisis: The global auto industry has left the corona pandemic behind.

When the demand for new vehicles suddenly increased surprisingly in the summer of 2020, chip manufacturers such as Infineon or NXP were overwhelmed by the demand. The current chip shortage is therefore based on a whole series of misjudgments – on the part of car manufacturers and suppliers, but also on the part of chip manufacturers. The lack of chips also shows that the auto industry did not come through the Corona crisis as badly as feared.

‘Two days ago, I informed my parents that I would cancel the marriage despite their scolding, I decided not to change…’, the boy shared.
Closer to the wedding day, the groom left for a new love with a dream of changing his life is the content of the story that is attracting the attention of many members in a closed group on the social network below.

The story is as follows: “After nearly 3 years of love, V. and I decided to get married in April 2019. However, in February of that year, I met T., one of the partners appointed by the company, I was in charge of cooperation, then everything started. head turns in the other direction. T. not only looks better than my lover, but also has a very rich family. Working together on a couple of projects, I realized that I and T. not only understand each other at work but also get along very well in conversation. With a lot of contact, we gradually developed feelings. More and more I see that T. is really the girl I want to spend the rest of my life with. Most importantly, if I take T., my future will be much brighter. The post of a young man After careful consideration, I secretly hid V. dating T. Many times I tried to turn the cards upside down with V. but I could not speak. Moreover, my parents liked her very much, always telling their sons to treat their future daughter-in-law well, so I was even more awkward. Really talking about feelings, I still love V. but as a man, I need to think further, know how to put money first. Therefore, after thinking carefully, I decided to help V. to perform my calculation, even though I knew for sure that I would have to endure a lot of pressure and scandal. Two days ago, I informed my parents that I would annul the marriage despite their scolding, I decided not to change. At the same time, I also met V. made it clear that I had found another half that was more perfect for me. V. helplessly accepted to break up with me without a word of complaint. After finishing with V., I always ran to my new love with many hopes for a bright tomorrow. At that time to me, T. was like a lever, only marrying her in the future, my career can go far. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned after that. Dating with a new lover for a few months, I discovered that she caught fish with two hands. Even more sad, although I accepted to be patient to ‘grow up’, T. still flatly refused. She said, her feelings for me are just play, never intended to marry a poor guy like me. The previous promises made to me were simply pleasant to say. Failure in love, my career after that time also encountered many difficulties. 2 years went by in a flash, last weekend I was fortunate to be recruited into a very good position in a large company. The sales director of that company was very young, only 2 years older than me, but talented and liberal. I’ve only been working for a few days and I have heard the company’s staff praise a lot about the boss, he is not only good at his profession but also loves his wife very much, which makes me quite curious. After dinner last night, I sat down and went to my boss’s personal page to take a look at his private life. When I saw the wedding photo my boss shared on his timeline, I was stunned, frozen. Unbelievably, the young wife who was loved and pampered by her boss so much that everyone in the company admired her was V., my girlfriend who used to cheat right next to the date of the engagement 2 years ago. Now she is the boss’s wife, living a rich and happy life, few compare. Illustration Along with looking at my boss’s facebook, I clicked on V’s personal page, so that my heart went numb before each photo, each status line she shared about the happy home with her husband. Looking at her facebook, the feeling of shame about the past once again rose up in me. The new job position I was enthusiastically working on suddenly lost interest. Not because I don’t want to, but because I don’t know how to face the boss – husband of my ex. Every time I look at my boss, I seem to look back at my wrong past, which makes me miserable and ashamed. Maybe I’ll resign before my boss knows who I am.” The mistake of the guy above is not too rare or unique. In fact, there are many people who have made such a serious mistake, by the time they realize the mistake, it is too late, there is no chance to do it again. The above story can be seen as a common lesson for young people, never let mistakes in the past affect your future, especially in love affairs.

In 1968, a Spanish fishing boat (El Fausto) named Faust left the port of Tazacorte and set sail, its destination was El Hierro, 80km to the south. This fishing boat was cursed by the devil as its name suggests, and to this day it remains one of the most difficult cases to solve in Spanish history.
On July 22, just a day after the Faust went missing, the local waters began to broadcast intermittent news about the search for the ship. A CASA 2,111 medium bomber took off from Gran Canaria and began flying in the air to conduct the search. Although the weather was fine that day and visibility was wide, there was no cloud, but search and rescue teams at sea and in the air still found no clues. At first, their search and rescue was only carried out in the waters near La Palma and El Hierro, as time passed, the scope of rescue began to gradually expand.

Considering that there was not much fresh water and food left on the Faust, the people on the shore had no hope of saving the poor sailors on this ship. The rescue team has changed the search and rescue objective to finding the wreckage of the ship – because given the current situation, there is a high probability that the ship has sunk. Three days after the disappearance, the situation suddenly changed. It was also what happened that day that made the mystery surrounding Faust even more difficult to explain. At midnight on July 25, Spanish maritime authorities received an urgent radio message that a British ship Duquesa had just returned from South America found a small fishing boat in the middle of the ocean. sea. Sailors on board were waving flashlights and begging for help. The sailors on board the Duquesa determined that at that time the ship that sent out the help signal was located at 28º15´ North latitude, 19 kinh45 West longitude, 190km west of La Palma’s position. Duquesa. The rescue team immediately contacted Duquesa via radio and confirmed that the four people they rescued were Ramón, Eliberto Hernández, Miguel and Julio aboard the Faust. According to the captain of the Duquesa, when the Faust was discovered, the people on board were dehydrated, hungry, red in the face and full of anxiety. After drinking soft drinks, food and cigars provided by the Duquesa, the crew almost regained their energy and strength. The captain of Duquesa offered to tow them back to La Palma, but the crew refused. They said that their ship is in good working order, there are no mechanical failures, power problems, as long as they provide enough fuel, food and water, they can continue to return. The place where Faust was found after the first disappearance, about 190 km from the original destination. Hearing what the crew of the Faust said, the captain of the Duquesa felt a little strange, but he did not investigate carefully, because the four crew members in front of him no longer seemed to have any health problems. healthy and they are very alert. After discussing with the crew of his ship, the captain of Duquesa agreed to the request of the other party. They had been in similar distress before and in their experience, with sufficient water and food supplies, these experienced sailors were often able to save themselves and return. Faust was then refueled for the 18-hour voyage, as well as enough food and fresh water for their return journey. Crew members on board the Duquesa observed them heading east and were expected to arrive at La Palma at 19 o’clock that evening. At this time, the people on the island felt very happy because of that, so they rushed to celebrate, preparing a grand banquet for the returning crew members, the wives and children of four members on the ship. is no exception. Crowds wait at the pier. But when the clock reached 19 o’clock, the people on the island still did not see any trace of the ship, but they still encouraged and comforted each other, believing that the Faust ship would soon return to port in this time. Until midnight, many people were still standing on the pier to wait, all that night, the family members of the members on the ship did not sleep but still tried to wait, intense anxiety and fear began to take over. everyone’s heart. The Faust was saved, but never returned, so where did they go? The name Faust is also a very popular story in Europe. The story goes that Faust was a scholar, an astronomer, a doctor, and an alchemist. He was so hungry for knowledge, that he began to study magic to satisfy his curiosity about all things. Realizing this, one day, Mephistopheles – the demon of hell – appeared before Faust and made a deal: Mephistopheles would serve Faust on earth for a while, doing everything Faust asked. Until Faust comes to a moment where he wants to live forever in that moment, he will die, and Faust’s soul will have to serve Mephistopheles in hell. Mephistopheles’ first job with Faust was to impress Gretchen, the neighbor Faust loved. With the help of Mephistopheles, Faust used his treasures and possessions to win the hearts of the whole Gretchen family. Later, Mephistopheles also caused the deaths of members of Gretchen’s family, to bring Gretchen closer to Faust. Eventually Gretchen became pregnant with Faust. Gretchen’s brother knew about it, and challenged Faust to a duel. With Mephisto’s aid, Faust kills Gretchen’s brother. Knowing this, Gretchen threw the infant into the river. She was later sent to prison for murder. When Faust arrives at the prison and uses Mephisto’s powers to save Gretchen, she refuses. When Faust left the prison, a voice came down from heaven, that the girl’s soul would be saved. Faust continued to use Mephisto’s service to travel the world, possessing all the riches, knowledge, and power of the world. However, the ending of the story is very unclear. There are several versions, Faust is saved by God, the soul goes to Heaven. There are also places where it is said that Faust must obey the agreement and go to hell to serve Mephistopheles

Crisis in the training market Where the trainees are most absent

Status: 08.06.2021 2:09 p.m.

Much fewer apprenticeships, far fewer applicants – Corona has massively thinned the training market. What alarms experts: Professions in which there is already a shortage of skilled workers are severely affected. From Philipp Reichert, SWR Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, significantly fewer training positions have been offered than before. This is shown by figures from the Federal Employment Agency SWR has evaluated. According to this, companies across Germany reported only around 430,000 apprenticeship positions from October 2020 to the end of April, i.e. after more than half of the current application year. That is around 60,000 fewer than in the same period of 2018/2019, i.e. before the pandemic. This means that by the end of April, around every eighth training position in the country was no longer offered. The number of applicants also fell significantly in the same period: from around 418,000 to 345,000 – a decrease of around 18 percent.

The healthcare and hospitality industries are particularly hard hit

Accordingly, there were particularly strong slumps in the tourism industry and in the hotel and restaurant sector. By the end of April, an average of every third apprenticeship position was no longer offered compared to 2019. But also in large occupational groups in the craft, for example in food production, the metal industry and in some technical professions, thousands fewer training positions were reported. The SWR -Data analysis shows that all federal states are affected by the development – albeit to different degrees.

Young people feel insecure

The Federal Employment Agency attributes the decline in training places and applicants primarily to the Corona crisis. “This mainly reflects the pandemic restrictions and the associated economic uncertainties,” it says SWR -Inquiry. Young people are also unsettled because personal consultations were more difficult in the pandemic and, for example, training fairs were canceled. “We also suspect that some of the young people are withdrawing from the dual training market in the current situation and switching from the outset to alternatives such as further schooling or possibly studying,” says the Federal Employment Agency. In addition to the corona crisis, changes in the labor market, for example in the automotive and supplier industry, as well as demographic change have contributed to the development.

Can the gap still be closed?

For labor market experts like Stefan Sell from the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences, the development is alarming. “These are extremely strong slumps, they are extraordinarily high.” Sell therefore fears long-term consequences if fewer young people start an apprenticeship in the fall of the new training year. “Losses of this magnitude could never be made up again.” Past crises would have shown that. “Unfortunately, we have to expect that the level of apprenticeships will remain significantly lower overall than before the Corona crisis,” said Sell. From the labor market expert Sell’s point of view, it is particularly problematic that such occupational groups are also affected in which companies already need an above-average long time to fill vacancies. According to calculations by the Institute for Employment Research, for example, companies in the field of mechatronics and in some technical and health professions are looking for skilled workers for a particularly long time. “Even before Corona, we did not train enough in these professions,” says Sell.

Criticism of “small funding programs” by the government

The SWR data analysis shows: It is precisely in these occupational groups that there are now also significant drops in the number of applicants. At least one in ten applicants broke away there compared to the time before Corona. Labor market expert Sell sees the significant drop in applicants in the professions with a shortage of skilled workers extremely critical. “In some of these areas, such as the health professions, we will run into significant shortages,” said Sell. The responsible Federal Ministry of Education divided up SWR request with, you take the decline in the training market very seriously. That is why a program to secure training positions was decided last summer, which for example provides training and employment bonuses as well as grants for training and trainer remuneration. 700 million euros are earmarked for this and the coming year. Sell, however, criticizes that the program is insufficient to cushion the decline in the training market. “This is a small funding program, one should have set clearer signals.” The program was also too late and too complicated for companies.

The mystery of the Faust ship in 1968 – Part 1: Background of the disappearance.

The mystery of the Faust ship in 1968 – Part 2: Disappearing for the second time despite being seen by the ship and providing food for the Faust to find its way back. The mystery of the Faust ship in 1968 – Part 3: the sailor lay down on the deck and the voyage was not intact. As the only ship in the world to disappear three times in a row, the story of Faust can be described as eerie and terrifying. Countless experts and scholars have delved into this case, but no one has been able to come up with convincing hypotheses. As an ordinary person, after reading the whole process of the case, there are probably a few questions in everyone’s mind as follows: Why would a seasoned sailor go astray on his first voyage in calm waters? When they were first rescued, why did all four turn down an invitation to escort them from the British ship? After getting enough items, why did the ship and its crew disappear for the second time? Whose body was found on the ship? Where did the other three go, are they alive or dead? What does the missing 28 pages of the diary contain? What does the so-called “God-ordained destiny” in Julio’s last words mean? Why did this ship that has been floating at sea for more than two months suddenly sank while being towed back to port, leaving the secret of Faust never solved? Are the statements of the two ocean-going ships that contacted Faust true and reliable? Before attempting to answer these questions, we should consider the existing explanations and the possibilities involved: 1. Illegal Migration Spain remained under the Franco dictatorship in 1968. Franco won the Spanish Civil War and took power in 1939. Because of his ideological closeness to the Axis Empire, Spain provided a great deal of private assistance to Nazi Germany during the Second World War, and it was because of these acts that Spain was subsequently isolated from the European countries. Therefore, the development of Spain in the 1940s and 1950s lagged behind, the economy declined, the people lived in extreme poverty. Along with Franco’s rule with an “iron fist” in the country and the strong suppression of all opposition, many Spaniards felt despair and had to leave their homeland, emigrating abroad. Especially for islands like the Canary Islands, the economic situation is worse. At that time, South America was in a period of relatively rapid development because it had not been affected too much by the Second World War. With the same language, it became the first choice of many immigrants. Spain. Julio, a member of the ship, has a brother who has moved to Venezuela – was the only variable on this voyage, was he the culprit instigating the crew to attempt the transatlantic? The answer is definitely not. First of all, the Spanish economy was on the rise since the 1960s. This was an emerging economy in the world at that time and was second only to Japan in speed. Tourism in the Canary Islands was very prosperous at that time. The family economy of the four members on board, in general, is not so bad, at least there is no reason for them to flee their homeland in this extreme way. Second, even if they had a reason to leave, it would be completely stupid to cross the vast Atlantic with a few dozen kilograms of fruit and a few liters of soft drink because they would die of starvation before reaching their destination . Even after they were first rescued, the British ship had provided them with sufficient supplies, it was completely impossible to support their boat to South America. However, there are still strong advocates of illegal migration – none other than the victims’ families, who would rather believe that their loved ones met another ship and were saved in the process. and went to South America, living in anonymity rather than thinking that these crews perished at sea. 2. Pirates This conjecture is very bold. That is when the British ship encountered the Faust for the first time, the four people on board were not the original crew, but pirates disguised as them. The crew members were actually captured or killed by them. This conjecture may explain why the crew were reluctant to decline the large ship’s offer after being rescued for the first time, insisting instead on resupply to return on their own. Not long after setting sail for the first time, Faust encountered a pirate ship, which easily robbed the fishing boat in a short period of time, but when the pirates found there was no cargo or treasure. On board the ship, the crew was dragged out to sea to be executed and the ship set out to sea to create false evidence of a shipwreck. When the British ship appeared, to cover up their crimes, the pirates chose to pose as the crew for help, and continued to carry out their evil plan after receiving the help. After all, the British ship only contacted Spanish authorities by radio, no one could determine if the rescued person was the real crew. And this also explains the mystery of Julio’s diary. When Julio was held captive by the pirates, he knew he didn’t have much time left, so he wrote in a note. The pirates kept his suicide note, but tore up the rest of the content. This conjecture also has many contradictions, first of all, there were no pirates in the waters of West Africa at the time, as there were no merchant ships worth plundering, the mainland was essentially desert and land. barren. The Spanish islands, with the exception of fishing, have essentially no other wealth from small crates of agricultural produce. And considering the size of the ship, it was unlikely that pirates would target such a small fishing boat as a target for robbery. As noted by Luciano Ascione, who discovered the Faust for the second time, there was no visible damage or traces of fighting on board the Faust – this indirectly negates the pirates’ plunder. And if the pirates hijacked ships and were discovered by the British ship, what about their original pirate ship? It is worth mentioning that the captain and crew of the British ship were questioned by the Spanish army in Rotterdam, and by the Dutch army after the second disappearance of the Faust, and they also released photos. of the victims to investigate whether they lied about Faust’s rescue. Facts have proven that the testimony of the captain and crew is completely reliable, and their rescue activities on board the Faust are also worthy of recognition. 3. Illegal transportation This argument stems from the fact that the income of seafarers at that time was very meager. But life for the crew of the Faust at that time was also not very rich. Therefore, some people suspect that when transporting goods and fishing, they also transport some illegal exhibits such as guns, drugs or other prohibited goods. When their crime was discovered by Julio, they sailed out to sea to kill him, but as a result, they lost their way back, and eventually died of thirst at sea. To prove this statement, the crew of the ship Anna Di Maio discovered the Faust for the second time, officer Luciano Ascione discovered the goods and belongings on board when they boarded the ship for the first time, and at the same time they discovered the truth recorded in Julio’s notes. In order to embezzle the goods, they purposely sank the Faust, falsely claimed that it had accidentally sunk during towing, and deleted the contents of the smuggling log. Except for Julio, the bodies of others were also thrown into the sea. Compared to encountering pirates, this conjecture was even more impossible. Not to mention these sailors are smuggling drugs and guns, who will they sell to, because the island where they live is a rather poor island, if their trip that day is really for a some illegal activities, why would they let strangers like Julio board the train? Doesn’t this greatly increase their chances of being exposed? And how many valuable smuggled items hidden on a small fishing boat could cause all the crew on a large merchant ship like Anna Di Maio to take risks and make up such stories. ? 4. Nazi Germany The 1960s were the height of the Mossad’s revenge campaign – Israel against the remnants of Nazi Germany, and the remaining Nazis in Europe sought refuge in South America via Spain. . It is said that a Nazi officer on the island of Hierro was discovered by the famous Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal. To avoid being hunted, he quietly hid in the Faust while it was docked and threatened the crew with his gun to head for the Atlantic. Regarding this conjecture, perhaps the people of the island are really imaginative, this plot if true, would probably be made into a blockbuster crime movie, after all, only in the movie can it be. That possibility can happen, because the average person cannot rely on a small fishing boat and meager amounts of water and food to cross thousands of kilometers of ocean. 5. Cold War Mossad and Nazis alone were not enough, another conspiracy theory even suggested that at that time American and Soviet submarines were fighting in the Atlantic Ocean, in order to avoid disaster, the Faust was forced to deviate and in the end they were still killed. And the question is why did these brave sailors not clarify the situation after they were first saved, and did not want to go home on the British ship? 6. Poisoning It is speculated that they were poisoned by gas leaks, food poisons or other things that disturbed the minds of these crew members, making it impossible for them to find their way home. But in fact, the toxin that can manipulate the mind to make people unable to find their way back but still awake in front of others has not been found on Earth.

The iOS 14.5.1 update was released by Apple on May 4 to fix two dangerous vulnerabilities that, according to Apple, have been exploited by hackers. Specifically, it fixes a pair of zero-day vulnerabilities in WebKit that could allow maliciously generated web content to result in arbitrary code execution. The first vulnerability is caused by a memory corruption issue, while the second is caused by an integer overflow.

However, this update is causing many iPhone users to face more serious problems. Apple’s iOS 14.5.1 update received a bad response. According to users’ feedback, the iPhone after updating to iOS 14.5.1 often exits the application suddenly while in use, the applications also load longer, the response of the device is also slower. The iOS 14.5.1 update is also said to be the cause of the iPhone 12’s performance loss of up to 60% through a series of tests on the Geekbench measuring tool, the iPhone 12 (iOS 14.5) reached 1,583 single-core points and 3,967 multi-core points. kernel, while the corresponding scores of iPhone 12 (iOS 14.5.1) are 1,478 and 2,339. Similarly, the scores on the iPhone 11 (iOS 14.5) are 1,318 and 3,019, while the iPhone 11 (iOS 14.5.1) is 794 and 1,271. The performance scores of the iPhone XR (iOS 14.5.1) are 1,105 and 2,085, while the iPhone 7 (iOS 14.5.1) is 728 and 1,291. Performance is even worse than the “old” elder brother iPhone XR born in 2018.

The Western press made headlines over the weekend when it was reported that three doctors who had treated Russian opposition Alexei Navalny were either dead or missing.
The Russian newspaper RT recently published a commentary mocking the Western media that have launched conspiracy theories about the incident involving Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny, who once accused himself of winning the lottery. Novichok poison and was initially treated by Russian doctors at Omsk Emergency Hospital.

Dr. Alexander Murakhovsky is the chief physician of Omsk Hospital, promoted after Navalny was initially treated there. Photo: RT Accordingly, Dr. Alexander Murakhovsky, one of the three doctors who directly treated Mr. Navalny, is said to have disappeared “mysteriously” after hunting. British media Reuters, The Guardian, the US BBC all simultaneously reported that the last of the three doctors who had treated Mr. Navalny was now missing. On May 9, as Russia was celebrating Victory Day, the Internal Affairs Service in Omsk made an announcement about a man in his fifties who had been separated from his friends. He is said to have not been seen since going into the woods in an off-road vehicle. To make matters worse, local residents say they have spotted bears in the area. Western media outlets at the time raised a series of theories about the possibility that this person might have been assassinated in a “speak-up” plot related to possible issues in the Navalny case. The Russian opposition figure was believed to have been poisoned by Novichok but the doctors treating it in Omsk at the time, including Dr. Alexander Murakhovsky, confirmed to the press that they did not identify it as a nerve agent like what described about Novichok. The Western media has been so sensitive to information about Novichok that it has linked the failure to find Dr. Alexander Murakhovsky with the deaths of the doctors associated with Navalny: The disappearance of Dr. Sergey Maksimishin and a female Another doctor died of a stroke. The Sun, the UK’s most widely read newspaper, asserts that Sergey Maksimishin “was poisoned to prevent him from disclosing a Kremlin attack on Novichok”. The unnamed source cited by reporters said that “the reason he was liquidated was because he was willing to share information about the treatment he had access to.” A second doctor at the clinic later died of a stroke, adding to the conviction of a conspiracy theory involving Novichok. Bill Browder, a hedge fund manager who led accusations of anti-Russian sanctions, said the news was “incredible”. “After the two doctors who treated and saved Alexei Navalny at the hospital in Omsk died, one of the three has now disappeared on a hunting trip,” he added. Andreas Umland, a research fellow at Stockholm’s Center for Eastern European Studies, thinks even further, suggesting that Dr. Murakhovsky went into the woods with employees of Moscow’s top domestic security agency during the day. a plot to “destroy the word”. “The FSB’s signal to Russian society seems clear. Not to interfere in our affairs or other things that are not the doctor’s duty,” he reasoned. According to Reuters, the wife of Dr. Alexander Murakhovsky confirmed that he went into the forest and did not return after more than a day had passed. Alexander Murakhovsky in an interview with the press about Navalny’s treatment. German doctors confirm that the initial treatment of Russian doctors saved the life of the Russian opposition. But two days later Dr. Murakhovsky was back, healthy, and he didn’t even know there had been a search for him. Silence for 2 days, the Russian newspaper RT then commented that, a man can chase the animal he wants to hunt for 1 or 2 days is probably not a problem, but for Dr. Murakhovsky is completely different. Perhaps he couldn’t think of what was said about him during the past two days. The newspaper also said that regarding the deaths of two doctors at Omsk Hospital, both were speculated by the Western media. Doctors at Omsk hospital confirmed, within days [Navalny] receiving treatment at the hospital, doctor Sergei Maksimishin was on sick leave and was “not involved in Navalny’s care”. As for the female doctor at the clinic who died of a stroke, the evidence shows that the death was natural, convincingly, unlike the Western media alleging without correction of misinformation. truth in Russia.

If the Bermuda Triangle is known for the “swallowing” of ships, the Bennington Triangle is like a place to “attract” missing people.
The Bennington Triangle is an area in southwestern Vermont (northeastern America) surrounded by Mount Glastenbury. This land possesses a long history of mysterious disappearances, numerous reports of supernatural phenomena, anecdotes about “Bigfoot” and stories of serial killers … This place is labeled with the name “Triangular Devil on the Land”.

The Bennington Triangle’s biggest and longest-running mystery is the disappearances that raged in the area from 1945 to 1950. A newspaper reported the disappearance of the Bennington Triangle. (Photo: Internet) First up is a 75-year-old man named Middie Rivers, a tour guide. Rivers led a group of climbers back to their camp in November 1945. In a moment Rivers overtook the group, just enough to get out of sight, he disappeared completely with the winds of Glastenbury. Paula Welden, an 18-year-old college student, decided to explore Glastenbury on his own in 1946. Welden’s journey began with warnings from the locals, that with only a thin red coat, Beware of this mountain’s unusual weather. Welden 1 day later was reported missing. Although Paula’s red coat was easily identifiable, every attempt to find the whereabouts of the freshman girl was fruitless. 18-year-old schoolgirl Paula Welden – one of the missing victims. (Photo: Internet) In October 1946, 8-year-old Paul Jepson disappeared from a farm. Paul’s mother let the boy play near a pigpen while she was taking care of the animals. When she returned later, she was unable to find her baby. A great search took place, but the boy was still silent. In 1949, three hunters went missing in the mountains. That same year, veteran James Tetford is believed to have disappeared from a crowded bus on Albans Road. Fourteen passengers testified that Tetford was falling asleep and then suddenly disappeared when the bus reached the terminal. A lengthy investigation has been organized, but the whereabouts of the man remains a mystery. The bus where Tedford had mysteriously disappeared. (Photo: Coolinterestingstuff) The year 1950 was the case with Frieda Lander. Lander’s clothes got wet during the hike with her friends and she decided to go back to the camp alone to change. Since then, no one has seen Lander anymore. Police, firefighters, the army and hundreds of volunteers, all rummaged through Glastenbury but it was not until May 1951 that Lander’s body was found. The above events are just six widely known unexplained disappearances among the other mysteries in the Bennington Triangle. (Photo: Internet) The unexplained facts associated with the Bennington Triangle have led many to speculate crazy. The story becomes even more thrilling with rumors of UFOs and giant Bigfoot in the area. The pattern of the disappearances led some to assume that there was a serial killer at Glastenbury. However, the lack of evidence and the diversity of the age and sex of the victim (excluding the common types of serial killers) reject this hypothesis. (Photo: Internet) Without a solid basis for the existence of a serial killer, the next interesting theories regarding a supernatural phenomenon such as a cursed rock that swallows strangers come close into the ravine. . These disappearances coupled with strange lights, sounds and odors led to conspiracy theories about the UFO’s arrival. People try to chain the disappearances together in hopes of finding explanations for the mysteries. The only similarity between these cases is that it happens in the Bennington Triangle. The time of day the victim was last seen is between 3 and 4 pm and is mostly in the last three months of the year. (Photo: Internet) Of all the research that has been done to uncover the mystery of the Bennington Triangle, a number of scientifically based answers have been provided. They still have some meaning, even if not completely satisfactory. One explanation is hypothermia. Temperatures in the mountains can drop very low, especially in winter – a time when the majority of mysterious disappearances occur. With hypothermia, humans tend to dig holes on their own – this is a survival behavior that causes one to find somewhere small and stay away from the crowd. It keeps the wind out and can keep the body warm enough, slowing the frostbite process, but often ends up dying and making the person harder to find. Another interpretation concerns the history of the area – a mining town. The mountain slopes are dotted with unmarked mines that can put hikers at risk. Both of these ways can explain why missing people are never found. (Photo: Internet) However, many people still believe that the above argument is not strong. Perhaps the most practical answer is that not all of the disappearances are the same way. Some may have met the killer, while others dug holes or fell. But if so, why did the disappearances last for only five years and stop so suddenly? To this day, the Bennington Triangle is still the topic of discussion for those who love mysterious stories. And the answer to the events surrounding this land remains a mystery.

Indonesian officials said that the crew of the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine had just enough oxygen until early the morning of April 24. But according to a naval expert, the 53 sailors on board also face another ‘hidden killer’: carbon dioxide (CO2).

Submarine KRI Nanggala-402. Choking because of CO2 CNA quoted Mr. Clark – a naval expert – who used to be a submarine sailor – as CO2 accumulating in the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine can suffocate the crew even if they have not exhausted oxygen. “CO2 needs to be filtered out of the atmosphere with a chemical. But this chemical will soon run out. Oxygen can be produced by chemical candles. But CO2 will suffocate the crew before running out of oxygen. ” The power outage also affects the crew’s lifetime, Clark said. Electricity is needed to operate the CO2 absorber and the fan transfers air through the oxygen candle. The Indonesian lifeboat joins the search for the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine. Photo: AP Why the submarine lost power? Underwater submarines often depend on battery power, Clark said. And a breakdown in the battery compartment such as fire, explosion, flooding, etc. can cause a power failure. Meanwhile, Mr. Ben Ho – naval analyst said that a torpedo explosion could also cause the submarine to lose power. “Historically, major submarine accidents have often occurred due to technical problems or weapon explosions. Indonesian submarines went missing while torpedo shooting exercises. Maybe a torpedo exploded, ”said Mr. Ben Ho. Oil spills at the location where the submarine went down on the morning of April 21. Photo: AP Submarine locator If the submarine is intact, it can be “relatively easy” to be located using sensors, Clark said. Magnetic sensors, similar to mine detection systems, can detect the steel hull of a submarine. Sound sensors can show the sound from submarines. “But the area they need to look for is relatively large. The sensors can only be effective in a small area. Searching can take a long time. ” Mr. Ben Ho, meanwhile, said that even modern sonar equipment can hardly detect the wreck of a submarine if the seabed is rough. “The submarine’s nature is inherently difficult to detect. Submarine fleets are often referred to as silent soldiers, ”said Ho. If the submarine is truly trapped at a depth of 600 meters or less, the crew has a “near zero chance of survival,” said Ho. “The grim reality is that once the submarine exceeds its maximum depth, it will explode due to the enormous water pressure.” If this happens, the explosion will be picked up by a sensor in a nearby area, he added. Rescue process Once the submarine is found, Singapore’s MV Swift Rescue can begin its mission. MV Swift Rescue is the first ship in Southeast Asia capable of rescuing submarines. Singapore’s MV Swift Rescue train. Photo: Facebook The ship can operate at sea for four weeks before needing refueling. On board is a rescue cabin named Deep Search and Rescue Six (DSAR 6). Cabin is used to evacuate crew from submarines. However, Mr. Clark warned that the biggest challenge is the lying direction of the submarine in distress. “For example, if the submarine is on its side, the DSAR 6 will be difficult to reach.” Cabin DSAR 6. Photo: Facebook According to the naval news site Naval Technology DSAR 6 is 9.6m long and can reach a depth of 500m. It is operated by two crew members and can accommodate up to 17 people. When the DSAR 6 floats to the surface and is recovered by MV Swift Rescue, the submarine crew will be transferred to a recovery chamber for treatment. The cabin can accommodate up to 40 people. Singapore and Indonesia signed a cooperation agreement to assist with submarine rescue in 2012. The agreement allows the two countries to send resources and help each other if their submarines crash. The KRI Nanggala-402 submarine went missing on the morning of April 21 while participating in a torpedo drill near Bali. On board there are 53 people, including 49 sailors, a commander and three weapons specialists. The 1,395-ton KRI Nanggala-402 was built in Germany in 1977, and joined the Indonesian fleet in 1981. About 40 countries in the world have submarines, but only a few countries have the ability to rescue submarines.

Priz AS-28 was successfully rescued New chapter in rescue history In the military history of the United States, the rescue of the Sargo-class USS Squalus submarine of the US Navy has become a major event and also a lesson in operational deployment of submarines. The incident took place on the morning of May 23, 1939, the Sargo-class submarine USS Squalus with 59 crew members began their usual test dives off Portsmouth, New Hampshine, without knowing they were about to experience a disaster. USS Squalus was the new and best submarine of the US Navy at the time. The ship was launched in September 1937 and has undergone 18 successful trials. No one thought it would fail on the 19th test, because all the systems on board were still working fine. However, due to a technical error, the technician wrongly announced the coordinates of the submerged vessel up to 8km down. Squalus dives while the main air intake valve remains open, causing tons of seawater to enter the engine bay at the rear of the ship. The sailors on board were shocked to hear the news and rushed to find a way for the ship to float. They built flooded compartments and tried to close the air intake valves but failed, before putting compressed air into the ballast tanks to allow the ship to float. The Squalus is stable with the bow pointing upwards. However, when the sailor tried to prevent seawater from entering through the vent pipe, there was a tremendous increase in pressure. The sea water suddenly flooded the front compartments and the ship began to sink to the ocean floor due to the large amount of seawater. The incident caused 26 sailors at the back of the ship to be immediately killed by water, 33 men in front of the ship survived. The Squalus sank to the bottom with the bow pointing upward at an angle of about 11 degrees, lost power completely, was unable to communicate and was in waters with temperatures just above freezing. The Sculpin was then dispatched to the Squalus’ coordinates on the last contact, but did not detect any signs of disaster such as debris or oil spills. No one aboard the Sculpin knew that they were 8km away from where the submarine was sunk. Meanwhile, the surviving sailors aboard the Squalus try to send out a call for help. Captain Naquin quickly ordered the release of a floating buoy attached to the cable and left a phone inside with the words “submarine sinks here, there is a telephone inside”. The crew constantly fired smoke bullets out, as well as pumped oil through the toilet so that the rescue team could detect smoke and oil spills in the sea. A sailor aboard Sculpin detected a streak of smoke rising into the sky and reported to the captain. The Sclupine arrives, finds the beacon and cell phone and communicates with the Squalus ship. That night, the US Navy deployed several ships anchored around the search area and turned on the headlights on the sea surface, while the crew on the Sclupine submarine tried to get close to the Squalus. The Squalus submarine salvage was rejected because it was too dangerous and risky. The rescuers had only two options: to transfer diving equipment to sailors to float to the surface, or to use a rescue cocoon from above, but this equipment had not been verified. The first option was canceled because when the sailors exited the submarine, it was very susceptible to cold and high pressure under the sea. The next day, the divers used the rescue cocoon. They performed four rescues with the last man on the surface at midnight May 25. This rescue campaign opened up a new chapter in the history of underwater rescue. Difficult to save because of “invisibility” Military submarines are originally designed to travel undetected under the ocean. Except when there is a need to contact headquarters, the ship will not transmit any signal. Meanwhile, the submarine detector is only really effective when finding a ship that is “in the middle of the sea or floating on the surface”. In fact, the submarine’s submarine stealth is a double-edged sword. With each passing hour, the hopes of saving the ship became less and less. Sailors will have to reduce their activity and move to reduce their oxygen consumption while they wait to be rescued. Although they have been trained in emergency self-rescue, their chances of survival depend on the depth of the ship. On August 5, 2005, the Russian submarine Priz AS-28 and its crew of seven were trapped at a depth of 190 meters below sea level after the propeller was caught on an undersea cable. The sailors were trapped in darkness on the cold ship and the oxygen supply dropped. This accident has attracted much attention because it happened just five years after the sinking of the nuclear submarine Kursk (in 2000), killing all 118 sailors. The Russian government immediately requested US and UK assistance; at the same time to plan to rescue the ship. The first was the scheme to detonate the anchor system of the Russian surveillance antenna system installed under the sea (weighing 60 tons), but was rejected because it was not feasible. By the end of August 6, the command decided to hook the cable to the ship, tow the ship up close to the water surface so that the crew could rescue the sailors. But this plan also failed. On the night of August 6, the race against time reached its peak because the oxygen in the train was only able to endure until August 7. The British Super Scorpio 45 unmanned submersible has entered the game. According to commander Jonty Powis, an expert on British submarine rescue and rescue, the campaign went smoothly. The ship has successfully severed the cables that are clutching the Priz submarine. Commander Powis praised the Russian government’s openness to allow rescue parties to intervene in the area that was once one of the most secretive parts of the Soviet Union before. After just 3 days of being stranded under the sea, the ship finally emerged. All 7 crew members are healthy. Although suffering from the cold and the oxygen in the ship was gradually running out, when rescued, sailors were able to open the submarine’s cover and move to the lifeboat without assistance. According to the examination results at the hospital, the health of all 7 people was still normal and did not need any special treatment. This shows that the crew responded very professionally to the extremely strict situation in the ship stranded at a depth of 190 meters under the sea. They wore insulation to keep their bodies warm, maximized energy savings by only intermittent contact with the mainland and tried to stay calm so as not to lose the meager oxygen on board.

The Indonesian navy KRI Nanggala-402 went missing on Wednesday. Alex Widojo / Anadolu Agency / Getty Images The search for a missing Indonesian Navy submarine has been going on for days, and time is running out, hopes seem to have faded. “The submarines are designed to be hard to detect, this is a problem that can happen when one sinks,” said Bryan Clark, a former US Navy submarine officer. Submarines are built to penetrate enemy waters, engage and engage enemy navies, shoot at ground targets with cruise and ballistic missiles, and even deliver force. amount secretly entering enemy territory / territorial waters. Not all submarines can perform every task, but regardless of the mission and the ship’s capabilities, stealth is considered to be of primary importance. The KRI Nanggala-402 is a German-made diesel-electric attack submarine that is more than 40 years old. Due to the age of the submarine, it may lack the coating and stealth features of newer ships, even after being refurbished in 2012, giving search and rescue teams a bit of an edge. as they try to look for it, but other challenges will overwhelm any potential advantage. In the event of an emergency, the submarine can either trigger a “ping” device on the ship or send a buoy to monitor (if the Indonesian submarine has these systems and the systems are in operation as well. the submarine crew knew how to use them and did not lose their ability to act). A “ping” signaling device is extremely valuable because it allows search and rescue teams to use passive sonar to scan a larger ocean area with other tools. There is no indication that KRI Nanggala-402 is making a sound that would aid with the search. Mr. Clark, a defense expert at the US Hudson Institute, speculates that if the ship makes a sound, it may have been located. “If it makes a sound no matter what form it is, it will be much easier to find,” he said. Without a ping or other type of noise, search and rescue teams are limited to using active sonar, narrowing the scanning range and prolonging the time it takes to search for a site. field. While passive sonar involves listening to sounds coming from objects in the ocean, sonar actively emit pings and then listens for echoes from objects in the ocean. The Indonesian navy identified the submarine disappeared in the waters north of Bali island. Search teams soon noticed oil slicks in their search area, narrowing the scope of interest. In this common area, search units found an object with “strong magnetic resonance” that could be emitted from the missing submarine. While these developments have significantly reduced the overall size of the search area, there is still a lot to consider. Indonesia has dozens of ships and aircraft, supported by international forces participating in the search. The Indonesian navy said the ship may have sunk at a depth of more than 600 meters, which would certainly complicate the search. Not only does that depth exceed the maximum depth of the ship, potentially putting the hull in danger of rupture, but it could also leave it out of the reach of existing recovery options. Finding things on the ocean floor is also quite difficult, Mr. Clark said. “Like we’ve seen with so many airline crashes, it’s hard to find something, even big, when it falls to the sea floor, because it’s mixed up in the mess down there,” he said. The ARA San Juan submarine of the Argentine navy went missing in 2017. It wasn’t until a year later that search teams found the ship, 44 crew members killed, on the ocean floor at a depth of about 1,000m. “If a diesel submarine as small as an Indonesian submarine sinks more than 600 meters, it is unlikely to survive,” Clark said.

Source: Sina. It is known that at about 3 am on April 21 (local time), the Nanggala submarine disappeared in waters about 95 km north of Bali. According to the Indonesian Navy, the submarine may have fallen into a sea trench up to 700 meters deep, while the maximum diving capacity of this old submarine was only about 300 meters. Indonesia has formally requested international assistance, and Singapore, India, Australia, as well as all countries with submarine rescue capabilities and equipment have responded. According to a report on the Indonesian media Indopolitika page on April 22, the Indonesian Navy announced a list of 53 members on the Nanggala submarine, and said there were at least 53 crew members or joint staff on board. concerned. The Indonesian navy has sent several rescue teams to search for the submarine. The Nanggala submarine of the Indonesian navy is a 209/1300 class conventional submarine purchased from Germany in the end of 1980. It is forecasted that the search and salvage of this ship will be very difficult. The incident with the Indonesian submarine Nanggala was the second sinking of the submarine of this class. Earlier, in November 2017, the ARA San Juan submarine of the Argentine Navy also had an accident underwater and sank to a depth of 800 meters, all 44 people on board were killed. The ARA San Juan is also a Class 209 submarine. ARA San Juan submarine of Argentina. Source: Sina. It is known that on November 15, 2017, while returning to the base in the coastal city of Mar del Plata, the ARA San Juan submarine suddenly lost contact with the mainland. The Argentine Navy said earlier that the captain of the ARA San Juan had reported water spilling into the ventilation pipe, causing one of the ship’s batteries to short circuit. Hours later, “an explosion” is believed to have occurred near the ARA San Juan submarine site that was last identified. The Argentine Navy suspected that the cause of the explosion could be the “condensed hydrogen phenomenon”. The ARA San Juan is a German diesel-powered class 209 submarine that entered service in the mid-80s of the last century and is most recently refurbished in 2008-2014. With a refurbishment cost of up to 12 million USD, the ship can replace the engine and the energy generation system. During the repair process, experts warn of difficulties because innovation involves integrating systems produced by different manufacturers, even the slightest mistake in the repair phase. could put the safety of the ship and the life of the sailor in danger. After the incident, it was not until a year later that Argentina found the wreck of this ship with its crew. On November 17, 2018, the Ministry of Defense and the Argentine Navy announced that the US Ocean Infinity Company had discovered an object about 600 meters long on the ocean floor, confirming that this was the missing ARA San Juan submarine. The ARA San Juan submarine was found at a depth of more than 900 meters off the Valdes peninsula in the Patagonia region of the Atlantic Ocean, about 600 kilometers from the Argentine port city of Comodoro Rivadavia, the Argentine navy said. Since the ARA San Juan submarine went missing, Argentina has relied on 14 countries such as Russia, the US, the UK, Norway … to participate in the search campaign, in which Russia and the US are the two most experienced countries. in the search and rescue field. Russia has sent ocean research ships and transport aircraft Antonov carrying a searchable robot at a depth of 1,000 meters under the ocean to search. Meanwhile, the US also deployed P-8A Poseidon patrol aircraft, mini submarines, and released buoys attached to sensors for detection.

On April 25, CNN quoted Mr. Hadi Tjahjanto – Commander of the Indonesian army, said he found the wreck of the Navy submarine missing during the week. All 53 crew members are confirmed dead.

The news comes a day after debris believed to be from submarine KRI Nanggala-402 was found floating away from the submarine’s last communication capture location in the Bali Sea. Tjahjanto said during a press conference that the Indonesian warship Rigel scanned the area with sound waves, using sound waves to locate objects and magnetometers. Then the MV Swift Rescue from Singapore sent a remote control vehicle (ROV) to get a clearer underwater visualization of the wreck, he said. The wreck of the submarine was found – Photo: Indonesian Navy According to Mr. Tjahjanto: “We have found and photographed parts of the Nanggala submarine such as the transverse steering, the anchor, the outer hull, the vertical steering and other parts of the submarine such as the safety clothing for the crew. Based on that evidence, I declare that the Nanggala submarine sank and the entire crew is dead. ” Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff Yudo Margono said the submarine was found at a depth of 850 meters and broke into three parts. He said the Indonesian government will work with the International Submarine Rescue and Escape Liaison Office “because salvage of the Nanggala submarine will require international cooperation”. The KRI Nanggala 402 is one of two Cakra attack submarines, the German-made Type 209 submarine and exported, and was commissioned by Indonesia in 1981. This submarine is 59.5 m long, 6.2 m widest, with a diving displacement of 1,390 tons. The ship operates by diesel-electric engine, cruise speed when diving is 21.5 knots (nearly 40 km / h), range of 15,200 km. Previously, The Guardian reported on April 21 from the Indonesian navy that power outages occurred while the KRI Nanggala 402 was diving, causing the ship to lose control and unable to conduct emergency procedures to allow the ship. rise.

Indonesian submarine KRI Nanggala 402 and a crew of 53 people last contacted the headquarters at 3 am on April 21 to ask for permission to dive into the sea during torpedo drills off the coast of Bali and then lost contact completely. Full from 4:30. The Indonesian navy said it had a power failure while diving, causing the ship to lose control. Indonesian KRI Nanggala 402 train. Photo: Getty Images In recent days, Indonesian officials have deployed 3 submarines, 5 aircraft and 21 military ships to search for the KRI Nanggala 402. Sonar sonar systems have also been deployed to search for motion and sound below. country but not yet have satisfactory results. Indonesian officials confirmed the amount of oxygen stored on board only enough for 3 days after the power failure. This morning (April 24), that deadline has passed, making the prospect of finding surviving sailors nearly dissipated. Indonesia is expected to turn the rescue of sailors into submarine salvage missions. The Indonesian Navy said the submarine was most likely to sink at a depth of 600-700m, but the KRI Nanggala 402 usually only operated at a depth of about 250-500m. Anything greater depth is dangerous because the water pressure on the hull can crush the hull. Tragedy of ARA San Juan, 44 Argentine soldiers were killed In November 2017, Argentina’s ARA San Juan diesel-powered submarine went missing about 430km off the Argentine coast with 44 sailors traveling from Ushuaia base to the city of Mar del Plata. ARA San Juan Front Section. Photo: AP During the last communication, the ARA San Juan reported a problem with the machine due to water overflowing through the vent pipe, causing a short circuit of a battery. Three hours after this announcement, a sound like a loud explosion appeared about 50 km away from where ARA San Juan last informed. Argentina started its ARA San Juan search campaign with support from 15 countries, including Russia and the US, but stopped it a few weeks later because there was no significant clue. By 2018, the ship’s wreck was found at a depth of 900m. The Navy said it found debris 11, 13 and 30 meters long, the hull was crushed inside. Argentina admits it does not have modern technology to bring submarines back to land and has not decided how to handle the wreck. The Kursk submarine sank in the Barents Sea with 118 sailors Around 11:30 a.m. on August 12, 2000, while doing exercises to fire fake ammunition in the Barents Sea, two major explosions in a row suddenly occurred inside the nuclear submarine K-141 “Kursk” of the Russian Navy. A few minutes later, Kursk slowly sank to the bottom of the Barents Sea. Unlike the disappearances, the Kursk was located shortly after it crashed. But despite a series of quick relief measures, the Russians could do nothing more, all 118 sailors and officers died. The Kursk submarine broke in two after the tragedy. Photo: TASS The last time the ship was seen surfacing in port was around 5:00 a.m. on August 12, 2000. In the Severomosk area, the Northern Fleet, the ship slowly advanced from the port of Murmansk to the Barents Sea during a mock torpedo shooting exercise. Joining the K-141 Kursk was another ship of the Typhoon class and the K-114 “Tula” (Delta IV class). Over the past 20 years, many different theories about the accident of the state-of-the-art nuclear submarine Kursk have been issued, many believe that the disaster was caused by a fault in the design or Russia violated the rules. weapon maintenance. Kursk submarine in the photo taken in April 2000. Photo: S. Volkov One theory is that the Kursk submarine was mistakenly shot by an American submarine operating in the Barents Sea and the two sides negotiated to “close down” the incident to avoid a military conflict that could push the whole world. world into the dark scene. Meanwhile, according to the final conclusion of the Investigation Committee of the Russian Government, the cause of the sinking was an explosion that occurred while the ship was preparing to launch a torpedo on a simulated target during the exercise. . Submarine K-8 sank due to fire At the time of launch, the Project 627A Kit (November class) K-8 attack submarine was considered the pride of the Soviet Navy. But the ship also authored a tragedy that took the lives of 52 sailors in 1970. According to RBTH, a fire broke out in the compartment when it set sail on April 8, 1970. The captain ordered the nuclear reactor to be shut down and left the ship. K-8 submarine of the Soviet Union. When a tugboat arrived at the scene, 75 sailors returned to the ship in an attempt to bring the K-8 back to base. However, the ship was anchored off and lost control in rough sea conditions. 52 sailors who returned to the ship died from CO2 poisoning before rescuers could reach them, 23 were saved. The K-8 then sank to the sea floor with four nuclear torpedoes at a depth of 4,680 m and 490 km northwest of Spain. The depths were so great that it was nearly impossible to salvage the ship. Experts believe that the torpedoes carrying nuclear warheads on the sea floor could lead to radioactive leakage catastrophic damage to the environment. The first nuclear submarine crashed The world entered the race to develop nuclear submarines since the outbreak of the Cold War. In 1963, the nuclear attack submarine USS Thresher became the first nuclear submarine to crash, when it crashed during a test operating at a depth of 400 meters. USS Thresher set sail in 1963. Photo: Getty Images The accident killed all 129 crew members on board. To this day, this is still the submarine crash with the highest death toll in history, more than the tragedy of Russia’s Kursk submarine. According to the US Navy, a malfunction in the electric motor supplying to power the main cooling pump caused the nuclear reactor to stop working, so there was no electricity to pump water out of the empty chamber for the ship to float. Thresher sank under inertia and exploded at a depth of about 730 m due to the water pressure exceeding the hull’s stamina. After the USS Thresher disaster, the US Navy adopted the SUBSAFE program to ensure the quality of the submarine from design to fabrication. US submarine mysteriously disappeared In May 1968, the nuclear attack submarine USS Scorpion, the Skipjack class of the US Navy, went missing with 99 sailors 643 km southwest of Portugal’s Azores island. The ship was scheduled to return to the port on May 27, 1968, but it did not appear. The year 1968 also marked the disappearance of four other submarines, including the Israeli INS Dakar, the French Minerve and the Soviet K-129, arousing much speculation. Submarine USS Scorpion. Photo: ITN According to sources, on May 16, 1968, the USS Scorpion left the US naval base at Rota (Spain) with 99 sailors, along with the USS John C. Calhoun. Scorpion was sent to observe Soviet naval activities in the Atlantic in the vicinity of the Azores. Around midnight on May 21, Scorpion sent a message to a US Navy communications station in Nea Makri (Greece) reporting that the ship was near a Soviet submarine and the team “began monitoring. Soviet Union “, and is running at a steady speed of 28 km / h at a depth of 110 meters. That was Scorpion’s last contact. To date, it is not known exactly what happened to the ship, only to be told that the US Navy launched a search operation, but there was no clue. By the end of 1969, an ocean surveying vessel of the US Navy discovered submarine SSN-589 sinking at a depth of 3,048 m. The US Navy did not provide detailed information on the accident, but some sources said that the accidental explosion of the Mark 37 torpedo caused water to flood the ship and the USS Scorpion quickly sank, before being pressured. crushed water.

Fragments appeared showing that Indonesian submarine KRI Nanggala-402 sank into the sea, while the period of depletion of oxygen had long passed.
Rarely was there any more intimate relationship than the one between the submarine soldiers. Each sailor had to play an essential role in the ship’s intricate network of machinery so that it could dive deep into the seabed for weeks, New York Times describe.

“We are lifelong friends,” said Frans Wuwung. Wuwung is a retired sailor who trained soldiers on the KRI Nanggala-402 – one of the five submarines of the Indonesian Navy. Before dawn on April 21, Sergeant Guntur Ari Prasetyo and 52 comrades took turn to get off the Nanggala-402 to start torpedo shooting exercises in the waters of the South Pacific. On the ship was also Colonel Harry Setyawan, commander of the Indonesian submarine fleet. Captain Harry’s sailor career began primarily on the Nanggala-402, after he graduated first class from the naval academy. Around 3 o’clock, the Nanggala-402 was allowed to begin a torpedo drill in the waters north of Bali Island. As the dark hull had just descended into the dark water, silence filled the sea surface. Outgoing communication received no response. The Nanggala-402 has been lost. Immediately, ships and aircraft from many countries gathered in Bali sea in hopes of searching for the Nanggala-402. In everyone’s mind, there is a constant fear that the submarine will run out of oxygen at 3 a.m. on April 24, 72 hours after contact was lost. There was evidence that the submarine was sinking On the afternoon of April 24, Chief of Staff Yudo Margono of the Indonesian Navy announced that the debris had been found just a few miles from where the ship was missing three days ago. These fragments confirmed the submarine had sunk to the bottom of the sea and cracked. The ship was declared “sunk” instead of “missing”. Several floating objects identified at sea were dropped from the Nanggala-402, including several prayer mats, special foam used to wipe condensed water, and periscope grease bottles. The bodies of the sailors have not been found, the Chief of Staff said. Meanwhile, follow Jakarta Globe Admiral Yudo Margono also said that the search team is still waiting for a miracle and will continue to search. Indonesian military observer Susaningtyas NH Kertopati said the sailors could breathe slowly to prolong the amount of time they had left with oxygen. “They are trained to do it,” she said. Fragments and objects found were displayed in front of the reporter during the April 24 afternoon press conference. Photo: Reuters. According to Mr. Yudo, the multi-beam sonar technology shows that the Nanggala-402 has sunk to a depth of 850 m, which exceeds the safe depth. The safe over-water pressure is so great that a steel-hulled submarine can be crushed. Although the Nanggala-402 fell into an undersea valley and a compartment in the vessel was not submerged, the ability to survive at such a depth with finite oxygen was very low, according to Susaningtyas Nefo Handayani Kertopati, a love analyst. newspaper and the Indonesian army. “They will fall into a state of panic. Just being locked up in our room would panic. While this is a depth of 850 m. We’re just human after all, ”said Susaningtyas. What caused the ship to crash? The reason why the ship was powered by a deep-sinking electric diesel engine is unknown. But naval experts believe that the Nanggala-402 dive is more likely to happen quickly and suddenly because the ship does not send an emergency call. Norman Polmar, the American historian of submarines, said that the Nanggala-402 was likely to sink due to internal damage. It could be that the piping was damaged causing water overflow or the battery could explode. Shortly before her disappearance, the Nanggala-402 took part in another torpedo drill but had “imperfect” results because of the missed target, according to Rear Adm. Julius Widjojono, spokesman for the Navy. Indonesia. After that, the ship was asked to rehearse again. This is the operation that the ship was about to perform at the time of its disappearance, Rear Admiral Widjojono said. Susaningtyas expert questioned whether the continued short-term deployment of the Nanggala-402 would give the ship enough maintenance time. “The ship has been forced to do this activity in the Bali Sea, very forcefully. Chief of Staff must accept responsibility, “Susaningtyas said. The Nanggala-402 was built in 1977 and completely rebuilt in South Korea in 2012. The Indonesian navy said the ship’s papers were fine. But according to an unnamed defense expert, the submarine may not have been fully maintained since May 2018. The Indonesian naval expert hypothesizes that seawater overflows the ship as it sinks, be it through pipes or torpedoes. Under perfect conditions, the crew may have a way of plugging the gap, but emergencies rarely do so. When a torrent of water flooded in, the pressure could cause the ship to sink immediately. “The ship will sink very quickly, like a rock,” said Soleman Ponta, a military analyst. The Indonesian naval ship participated in the search for the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine. Photo: Reuters. “Pray for me” The day Sergeant Guntur Ari Prasetyo, a diesel technician on the Nanggala-402, left his home in Surabaya, he once told his wife to pray for him. This is what he does every time he is mobilized. Berda Asmara, the wife of sergeant Guntur, followed her husband’s words but this time something was wrong. “Perhaps he had a hunch before he left. He looks different from usual, ”Berda said on April 24. At the same time, in the city of Sidoarjo, an hour’s drive from Sergeant Guntur’s house, Colonel Harry’s family was also praying. Waiting for the good news here is Sheeva Naufal Zidane, the 18-year-old son of Colonel Harry. “From a young age, I wanted to be in the submarine because my dad was cool,” Sheeva said. When the TV reported that the submarine debris was found, everyone in the house got close together. Sheeva applied canola oil to her mother’s legs while the woman cried. The atmosphere rang out prayers. Winny Widayanti, wife of Colonel Harry, said her husband has never lost his temper at work, even in the worst traffic jams. She said she was haunted by debris in the Bali Sea but that would not make her lose faith. “There is still hope. I won’t stop hoping. They will survive. It’s not over yet, ”said Mrs. Winny.

Search helicopters and many other ships left Bali and a naval base in Java headed for the area out of contact with the KRI Nanggala-402 on April 21 as she prepared to conduct a torpedo exercise. . If the submarine was still intact, officials said it would only have enough air for the crew members to survive until around dawn April 24. “So far we have not found it … but with existing equipment we can find the location,” – Achmad Riad, a spokesman for the Indonesian army, said during a press conference. An Indonesian air force pilot said six tons of equipment had been moved to a base to help with the search, including an underwater hot air balloon to help lift the ship. One of the Indonesian military ships involved in the search for the submarine – Photo: Reuters The Indonesian navy said it was investigating whether the submarine lost power when submerged and could not perform emergency procedures when it sank to a depth of 600-700 meters, exceeding the allowable limit. The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy – Yudo Margono said an object with “high magnetic force” was found “floating” at a depth of 50-100 meters and an earlier aerial search had detected a trace. The oil spills near the location where the submarine last caught the signal. Navy spokesperson Julius Widjojono said the diesel-electric submarines can withstand depths of up to 500 meters but surpassing this threshold can kill people inside. The Bali Sea can reach a depth of more than 1,500 meters. One of the men on board was the commander of the Indonesian submarine fleet, Harry Setiawan. The submarine was commissioned into the Indonesian fleet in 1981 and underwent refitting in Korea, completed in 2012. It was said to be in good condition before meeting, the Defense Ministry said. accident. Australia, India, Malaysia, Singapore and the US have sent special ships or aircraft to respond to Indonesia’s request for assistance. The US military is sending a P-8 Poseidon to assist with the submarine search. The Pentagon said US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin spoke with his Indonesian counterpart and offered additional assistance, which may include navigating underwater search equipment. Two Australian Navy ships are also heading to the search area including a frigate with special sonar scanning capabilities. Indonesia operates five submarines – 2 German-made Type 209s and three newer Korean ones.

The pandemic initially made Netflix boom. Now comes the hard landing of the streaming provider: Recently, far fewer new users have been enthusiastic about its series and films.

From Angela Göpfert, tagesschau.de In the Netflix series “Bridgerton”, the protagonist Daphne impressed her Queen Charlotte so much that she gave her that important gracious nod of approval. As much as Netflix seemed to be swimming on a wave of success with “Bridgerton” – users and investors have recently shown far less support for Netflix.

Worst quarter in company history expected

This is impressively reflected in the figures for the first quarter that Netflix presented on Tuesday evening after the US market closed: According to this, the number of subscribers rose by four million to almost 208 million at the beginning of the year – two million less than expected. According to the calculations of the streaming service, the current second quarter is likely to develop into the worst quarter in the company’s history: Netflix expects only one million new users worldwide for the months of April to June – more than ever. Wall Street had expected 4.4 million new subscribers so far.

Disney + on the rise

For comparison: In the first quarter of 2020, Netflix was able to score with 15.8 million new users, in the second quarter it was 10.1 million. That was practically at the height of the corona boom, when worldwide lockdowns forced citizens into their own four walls and many mutated into “couch potatoes” for lack of alternatives. But the attractiveness of the series marathon on Netflix has noticeably decreased in the wake of the corona pandemic. This is due on the one hand to pandemic-related production problems and on the other hand to growing competition, especially in the form of Disney +. The Subscription service from entertainment giant Walt Disney has gained more than 100 million subscribers since its launch – and thus already has half as many users as Netflix.

There are again alternatives to the couch

In addition: In some places in the important Netflix home country USA, more leisure activities, even going to the cinema and thus alternatives to being a “couch potato”, are possible again. Against this background, the market for streaming offers appears to be increasingly saturated. Netflix subscriber numbers are a reflection of all of this: starting from the peak in the number of new users in the first quarter of 2020 (15.8 million), things went noticeably downhill: in the second quarter it was 10.1 million, in the third 2.2 million. In the fourth quarter, Netflix made a small interim high of 8.5 million, but without being able to surpass the top value from the first quarter.

Disappointment in the stock market

The new figures for the first quarter and the gloomy forecast for the second quarter should now prove to all those critics who believe that growth has passed its zenith. The figures for sales and profit in the first quarter – 7.2 and 1.7 billion dollars respectively – with which Netflix was able to exceed Wall Street’s expectations, are unlikely to change anything. In any case, investors reacted with disappointment to the numbers: In after-hours US trading, the share fell ten percent to $ 491.50. The stock exchange had already anticipated the disappointing business development in parts: Since July 2020, not much has happened in the Netflix share. For the current year it shows only a meager increase of 1.6 percent, while the market-wide S&P 500 was able to increase ten percent in the same period.

Hope for the Oscar boom

One factor of hope for the streaming giant from Silicon Valley is now the Oscars at the weekend. Netflix is represented there with “Mank”; David Fincher’s homage to classic Hollywood has garnered ten nominations.

The actors Amanda Seyfried and Gary Oldman in the Netflix movie “Mank”. In addition to “Mank”, other promising films are currently available to stream on Netflix, including “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” with Chadwick Boseman on his last appearance and “The Trial of the Chicago 7”, which tells the true story of a group of demonstrators who had to face a scandalous court case in the USA in 1969 after a war protest that got out of hand. Paramount had sold the court thriller, which was originally scheduled to hit cinemas in autumn 2020, to Netflix because of the pandemic, giving the streaming company six more Oscar hopes. In total, Netflix productions received 35 Oscar nominations this year – more than ever before.

P-8 Poseidon hunting plane. Photo: The Drive According to the CNN In addition to the US P-8 submarine hunting aircraft, a frigate with sonar scanners and an Australian helicopter are also participating in the search for the Indonesian KRI Nanggala-402 submarine. Meanwhile, deep-sea lifeboats are en route to Indonesia from India and Singapore. Indonesian officials said on Friday that if the submarine was intact and working properly, the sailors would only have enough oxygen to survive until dawn Saturday. “So far, we haven’t found it yet. But with existing equipment, we may be able to locate the submarine, ”Achmad Riad, a spokesman for the Indonesian military, said at a press conference. Submarine KRI Nanggala-402. Experts like Koh said Indonesia will have to expand the search area again if the highly magnetic object proves not to be a ship. Koh also warned that if the submarine falls to “extreme depth”, it will be almost impossible to find. The Bali Sea can reach a depth of more than 1,500 meters. At the time of his disappearance, there were 53 people on board. Including commander of Indonesian submarine fleet – Mr. Harry Setiawan. KRI Nanggala-402 submarine went missing on the morning of April 21 while participating in a torpedo drill near Bali island. On the morning of April 22, oil spills were discovered at the submarine’s diving location. On the morning of April 23, a metal object with a high magnetism was found. But since then, there have been no more clues. On the morning of April 24, the reserved oxygen on the ship was exhausted.

Hope to rescue the crew aboard the KRI Nanggala 402 was dashed, after the ship’s oxygen reserves were thought to have been depleted this morning.
The Channel News Asia newspaper said that while hundreds of soldiers were urgently participating in the search for the submarine, Indonesian officials said that the amount of oxygen stored in the KRI Nanggala 402 was only 72 hours after the power failure. But that deadline has passed at dawn (April 24), but the rescue agencies have not been able to find the whereabouts of the ship and 53 sailors.

Previously, the Chief of the Indonesian Navy Yudo Margono said on April 23 that the country’s rescue team discovered an object with “high magnetism” floating at a depth of 50 to 100 meters off the north coast. Bali island, near where submarine KRI Nanggala 402 was identified lost contact. They are preparing to deploy naval ships equipped with hydroacoustic systems to the area, to confirm whether this is an object from this submarine or not. After the KRI Nanggala 402 went missing, the navy of Singapore and Malaysia sent warships to join the search, while a series of other countries such as the US, Australia, Germany, France, Russia, India, Turkey Ky and South Korea also offered assistance. Information from the TNI military website said that the missing KRI Nanggala 402 submarine was built in Germany and put into service with the Indonesian navy since 1981. This ship has undergone a two-year refurbishment process. Korea and completed in 2012.

On April 23, Yahoo! News reported that a mysterious object with ‘high magnetic force’ was discovered floating in the waters near the missing Indonesian submarine with 53 people on board.
The 44-year-old Indonesian submarine, KRI Nanggala-402, was conducting a torpedo drill 95km north of Bali on April 21 when it disappeared.

Yudo Margono, the naval chief of staff, told reporters that authorities had found an object with “high magnetic force” floating at a depth of 50 to 100 meters. Authorities hope the object could be the missing submarine and are currently waiting for a naval ship with underwater detection facilities to help them investigate the object further. The Indonesian military has so far declined to comment on whether the decades-old submarine, carrying 53 crew, is overpowered. Submarine KRI Nanggala-402 – Photo: Reuters However, they said the submarine may have sank to great depths after a power outage left the crew unable to control the ship. If the object is found to be part of the submarine, the navy suspects the crew may have discharged its fuel load after a power outage to allow the submarine to float. Navy officials feared the submarine might explode. Collin Koh, a naval expert and research fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies in Singapore, said damage to the fuel tank could cause “big trouble”. Naval spokesperson Julius Widjojono previously told KompasTV that a battery-powered submarine when submerged could only maintain a depth of 250 to 500 meters. “Anything that makes it go deeper than that can be fatal and dangerous,” he said. The waters in the region are shallower than in other parts of the archipelago but can still reach depths of more than 1,500 meters.

The second ship, Sirius, operating in the area off the coast of Brunei will arrive on April 27. In particular, according to the Australian Department of Defense, Sirius can provide fuel, drinking water and many essentials for ships participating in the search. Australia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced earlier that it would do whatever it could to assist Indonesia in finding the submarine in distress. Meanwhile, the country’s Defense Ministry confirmed that it would keep close contact with Indonesia in case it could provide additional assistance to the search. Submarine KRI Nanggala-402 of the Indonesian Navy, along with its crew of 53, went missing on April 21 while participating in a torpedo launch exercise. The Indonesian army, along with the help of the navy, of some countries are working all out to find the ship in distress in the context that the amount of oxygen used on the ship is only enough until the morning of April 24.

Indonesian submarine KRI Alugoro searched for the KRI Nanggala submarine that was missing while participating in a drill off the coast of Bali on April 21. Photo: AP Indonesian submarine KRI Nanggala 402 lost contact after diving on April 21 off the coast of Bali, and concerns are growing that the submarine may have sunk too deep, difficult to reach and recover. President Joko Widodo has called on all Indonesians to pray for the return of the crew, and ordered every effort to be made to locate the ship in distress. Two ships left a port in a nearby area on the morning of April 23 to engage in search activity. More than 20 naval ships, 2 submarines and 5 aircraft were mobilized for search on April 22, and more large-scale search operations are expected on April 23. Lifeboats from Singapore and Malaysia are expected to be in the area from Saturday to Monday next week, and other countries have also requested assistance. In his televised speech on April 22, Mr. Widodo said: “Our main priority is the safety of the 53 crew members. To the families of the crew members, I can understand their feelings at the moment and we are doing our best to save the lives of all crew members on board. The country’s Navy Admiral Yudo Margono said the missing submarine is expected to run out of oxygen at about 3 a.m. on April 24. The search has been centered around the oil slick discovered near the submarine’s last dive site. But there is no convincing evidence that this oil streak belonged to the missing submarine. Admiral Margono said that the oil could be spilled from a crack in the submarine’s fuel tank or it could also be that the crew drained the oil and the fluids to reduce weight, allowing the ship to float. There was an unidentified object with high magnetism at a depth of 50 to 100 meters, and officials hope it was the submarine they were looking for, Margono said. The Indonesian Navy also believes that the submarine has sunk to a depth of 600-700 meters, much deeper than the landmark where the hull can withstand water pressure. According to estimates by a Korean company that repaired this submarine in the period 2009-2012, the ship could explode when it sank to a depth of 200 meters. Currently, people are still not sure about the reason why the submarine suddenly disappeared. The Indonesian navy said it was possible that an electrical incident could have prevented the submarine from performing emergency procedures to emerge. In addition to the lifeboats sent by Singapore and Malaysia, other offers of assistance have also come from Australia, the US, Germany, France, Russia, India, Turkey and South Korea. The hospital ship KRI Dr. Soeharso of the Indonesian Navy participates in the search for the missing submarine. In 2000, the Russian nuclear submarine Kursk exploded from the inside and sank during exercises in the Barents Sea. Most of the 118 crew members died immediately, while 23, although they managed to reach the rear compartment, were suffocated. In November 2017, an Argentine submarine went missing and 44 waterways in the South Atlantic, until nearly a year later, it was discovered that the wreck was 800 meters deep. But in 2005, seven members on a Russian mini submarine were rescued three days after their ship was caught in fishing nets and cables in the Pacific, at a time when the ship had only enough oxygen for six hours. if the lake cannot float to the surface of the water. It is known that the KRI Nanggala 402 submarine is currently missing, produced by Germany, has been used by Indonesia since 1981 and at the time of the accident carrying 49 sailors and 3 gunners and commanders. Hoang Bach According to AP

KRI Nanggala 402 carried 53 people who lost contact at dawn on April 21 in the waters north of Bali while participating in torpedo drills.

Indonesian officials fear the ship may sink deeply, making it difficult to access rescue equipment. In a statement released on April 22, President Joko Widodo called on the people of Indonesia to pray that the crew can return safely. He also ordered all-out use to locate the submarine in distress. More than 20 naval ships, two submarines, five aircraft were mobilized to participate in the search campaign. Lifeboats from Singapore and Malaysia have also arrived on the scene to provide assistance. “Our main priority is the safety of the 53 crew members” Mr. Widodo stressed. Indonesia races against time to rescue the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine. (Photo: Anadolu) Naval Chief of Staff Adm Yudo Margono said, KRI Nanggala 402 is expected to run out of oxygen at 3 am on April 24. Searches are currently concentrated around the oil slick found next to the last dive site of KRI Nanggala 402. But there is currently no evidence that the oil stain was left by a submarine. Margono said the oil could spill from a crack in the fuel tank or the crew could discharge fuel to reduce the weight to help the vessel float. The Indonesian rescue team also found an unidentified highly magnetic object located at a depth of 50-100 m. Officials of this country hope it is the lost ship. However, the Indonesian navy did not rule out the possibility that KRI Nanggala 402 had sunk at a depth of 600-700 m. This depth could crush the ship due to the water pressure. The cause of the disappearance is still unknown. Indonesian officials said the power outage may have prevented the submarine from going through the emergency procedures to float again. In addition to the lifeboats sent to Singapore and Malaysia, Australia, the US, Germany, France, Russia, India, Turkey and South Korea are offering to help Indonesia. Submarine accidents are often catastrophic. In 2000, the Russian nuclear submarine Kursk exploded and sank during a maneuver in the Barents Sea. Most of the 118 crewmembers died immediately, but 23 escaped into the rear compartment before dying because the Russian navy could not find them in time. In November 2017, an Argentine submarine carrying 44 crew members went missing in the South Atlantic. Nearly a year later, the ship’s wreck was found at a depth of 800 meters. But in 2005, a group of seven sailors aboard a small Russian submarine were rescued almost three days after their ship was hooked to a cable at a depth of 190 meters. By the time the cable was cut and surfaced, the amount of oxygen on board was only about six hours. The Indonesian Ministry of Defense said that the German-made diesel-powered KRI Nanggala 402 entered naval service in 1981. The ship carried 49 sailors, one commander and three gunners when it went missing.

NW 2501 before the disaster and Captain Lind.

The story begins on Friday night, June 23, 1950 at La Guardia Airport, New York, USA. The weather was warm when 55 passengers, including 27 women, 22 men and 6 children, boarded a DC-4 4-turboprop aircraft, number 2501 of Northwest Airlines, from New York to Seattle (state Washington). Estimated flight time is 6 hours at 660km / h.

At 19:30, the 2501 took off. The captain of this flight is Robert C. Lind, the first co-pilot is Verne F. Wolfe, both 35 years old, and the third and last person in the crew is flight attendant Bonnie Ann Feldman, 25 years old. .

Passing Cleveland, Ohio, the 2501 continues to fly to Minneapolis, Minnesota at 3,000 meters. As she prepared to approach the city airspace of Battle Creek, Michigan at 22:41, the Chicago Air Traffic Control Center ordered Captain Lind to lower the altitude to 2,500m to avoid another plane flying in the direction. opposite.

At 11:36, the 2501 reached Lake Michigan. Upon receiving news from the Chicago Air Traffic Control Center that a storm was forming on the lake, Captain Lind asked to lower the altitude to 1,500 meters but was rejected because at such a height, the plane could will not stand the gust of wind.

At 11:51 p.m., the 2501 entered the fringes of a storm that was growing stronger. Captain Lind reported via radio that the plane would arrive in Milwaukee before 0:30 a.m. on June 24. About 10 minutes later, Lind once again asked to lower the altitude to 1,000m but did not give specific reason. The Chicago Air Traffic Control Center’s answer was still: “No way!”

That was Captain Lind’s last contact with the ground. On the other side of Lake Michigan, the Milwaukee Air Traffic Control Station, after waiting until 1 in the morning, still did not see the 2501 radio signal to New York, Minneapolis and Chicago. Immediately, the Civil Aviation Administration’s radio stations attempted to communicate with 2501 on all frequencies but to no avail. Flight 2501 is missing!

2.5:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, the US Civil Aviation Administration officially announced the complete loss of contact with the 2501. They also said that the amount of fuel on the plane was completely exhausted by that time so it could no longer fly, and issued an emergency search order to the navy, the coast guard and the state police from Illinois to Michigan, Wisconsin and Indiana. Thirteen hours later, at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Coast Guard ship commanded by Captain Woodbine saw an oil slick and some debris allegedly from a 2501, floating on the surface of Lake Michigan. At 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 25, the sonar machine of the US Navy ship led by Captain Daniel Joy was near the oil spill, and found some objects that reflected very strong sonar waves. However, scuba diving conducted by a naval clone showed that it was not the wreck of the plane, but that of a shipwreck.

Also on Sunday, the Coast Guard fleet consisting of four ships led by Woodbine, Mackinaw, Hollyhock and Frederick Lee recovered many floating debris, including fuel tank fragments, seat pads, clothing pieces. , blankets, luggage and some parts of the corpse but not a single piece of debris was large enough to confirm it fell from the 2501. Investigators speculate that the 2501 exploded in the sky because of their followers. The aircraft twisted when it fell into a gust of wind, causing a spark to burn the fuel tank. Prosecutor Berrien Louis Kerlikowski and US Coast Guard officials said: “It must be a terrible explosion to tear the passenger body in an unimaginable way.” However, residents of Lake Michigan said that on the night of June 23 and 24, they heard no explosions except for the testimony of a retired naval lieutenant, RT Helm.

According to Mr. Helm, he saw an airplane passing through his house at 12:20 a.m. and then a flash of light accompanied by a terrifying explosion. However, compared to Captain Lind’s last contact at 0:01 when he requested to lower the altitude to 1,000 meters and the speed of the plane, by 0: 20 minutes, the 2501 had passed out of Lake Michigan and is in Milwaukee airspace. The divers’ search during the following days was also fruitless, partly because the bottom of Lake Michogan was muddy, and the visibility was limited. In addition, many of the large objects detected by the sonar are not those of the 2501.

In July, a local fisherman, Wallace Chambers, pulled the net onto a small, distorted piece of metal. Analysis of the US Civil Aviation Commission led to suspicion that this piece of metal belonged to the 2501, but during World War II, the US military used more than 3,000 DC-4s and by the end of the war, nearly 600 the aircraft became a civil aircraft with identical construction, so the wreckage recovered by Wallace Chambers said nothing.

Six months after the disappearance of Flight 2501, after thoroughly analyzing all the collected specimens, the US Civil Aviation Commission officially concluded this was a “catastrophe without any cause”.

From there, over time, the incident sank into oblivion until science invented advanced detectors, which could restore the model of the seabed, river, lake, with all the details in on the bottom the search for the 2501 begins to restart.

DRAW HIGH

Vermont’s Bennington Triangle is not a familiar name to many people like the Bermuda Triangle, but it is also the place to witness a series of mysterious disappearances.

The Bennington Triangle is a relatively large area in the US state of Vermont, the most prominent of which is the “ghost town” of Glastenbury, which used to be a small logging community concentrated on the mountain of the same name in southwestern Vermont. Abandoned in the late 19th century after the logging boom was over, the Glastenbury area is now relatively secluded and unspoiled.

Starting with a series of mysterious disappearances more than 70 years ago, this abandoned town has become the bizarre scene of countless unexplained disappearances as well as unsolved murders.

Paula Welden before going missing. Photo: The Lineup.

In 1945, a series of strange mysterious disappearances began to appear in the Bennington Triangle. Middle Rivers, a 74-year-old local hunting guide, led a group of four hunters scouting around the Hell Hollow area in the forest southwest of Glastenbury before suddenly disappearing.

After the initial unsuccessful search, many still believe that with adept experience, the hunter will survive and soon reappear in town. However, he was still “unsubstantiated”. Soon, more than 300 locals and military soldiers were dispatched from Massachusetts Fort Devens to the area in search of Rivers for eight days. But they did not find any traces.

The following year, the town witnessed the most famous mysterious disappearance in Vermont history as Paula Welden. Welden is an 18-year-old student from Bennington University who decided to give it a try on the Long Trail trek during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Welden was last seen on December 1, 1946, wearing a striking red shirt and walking down the trail near Mount Glastenbury. Welden was later absent from the school, prompting a large-scale search with more than 1,000 participants and the reward for the information that helped find her amounted to $ 5,000. However, officials still do not have any clues about Welden’s fate. The case is still open to this day.

Exactly three years after Welden “evaporated”, the Bennington Triangle saw a more supernatural disappearance.

On December 1, 1949, a 68-year-old man named James E. Tedford took a bus to Bennington after visiting relatives in St. Petersburg. Albans, Vermont. Many witnesses, including the driver, said that Tedford was still in the seat before the last stop at Bennington. However, when the bus arrived, they could not see him.

The bus where Tedford had mysteriously disappeared. Photo: Coolinterestingstuff.com.

Passengers were even more surprised to discover that the luggage and the bus timetable were still open where Tedford sat. If the witness’s testimony was correct, Tedford would have disappeared from her seat while the vehicle was moving along Route 7 through the Bennington Triangle.

Nearly a year later, around mid-October 1950. Paul Jepson, 8 years old, continues to be missing. When he was last seen, Jepson was happily playing with his mother in the family pickup truck. After the mother left to feed the pigs, by the time he returned, the boy was gone.

In addition to hundreds of people involved in the search, a police chief from New Hampshire also brought a sniffing dog. The dog could recognize the boy’s scent but suddenly lost sight at a nearby intersection.

Jepson’s father told local Albany Times Union newspaper that the boy had “said nothing” days before his disappearance.

Just about two weeks later, Frieda Langer, 53, an experienced hiker and survivalist, went missing in the Somerset area, near the Long Trail, bordered east of Glastenbury.

After walking nearly a kilometer with nephew Herbert Eisner, Langer fell into a stream and had to return to the camp to change clothes, where her husband was resting with his injured knee. However, neither my husband nor I could see Langer again.

Helicopters from the Connecticut Coast Guard and the US Army in Massachusetts and local planes and the Vermont Aviation Commission helped with the search. About 400 people participated in tracing Langer’s tracks in nearby areas but the result was still 0.

Six months after Langer’s disappearance, Langer’s body was found near Somerset Reservoir, where numerous searches have been conducted before. The body was decomposed so badly that the authorities could not determine the cause of the death. The case went to a standstill.

The unexplained disappearances have aroused many speculations about the mystery of the Bennington Triangle. It is widely believed that some “paranormal force” took action and this theory is further reinforced by UFOs and strange Bigfoot creatures in the area.

Others believe that the disappearances could have been caused by a serial killer. But the age and sex diversity of the victims contradicts this theory because serial killers tend to focus on a certain group of people.

Some have speculated that the victims died under the claws of a lynx or wildcat. However, lynx and lynx do not tend to be aggressive towards humans, and they have barely been around since before 1940.

To this day, the Bennington Triangle is still an attractive destination for those who love mysterious stories.

In 1971, a man who claimed to be Dan Cooper stole a passenger plane from Oregon to Seattle, USA. In Seattle, he agreed to release 36 passengers in exchange for a cash amount of $ 200,000. After receiving the money, he asked the crew for the plane to take off south and then suddenly parachute with all the ransom money. Since then, no one has seen this man again, according New York Times.

After 45 years, in 2016, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) decided not to pursue the search for Cooper anymore. Until now, his whereabouts are still a big question.

Nobody knows who Cooper really is or someone who does, but refuses to speak. The FBI describes Cooper as an “information-free” object. At the time of the daring robbery, he seemed to be over 40 years old. If yes and now Cooper is still alive, then he is over 90 years old. In the media, he is often referred to as “DB Cooper”.

On November 24, 1971, “Dan Cooper” approached the Northwest Orient Airlines ticketing counter in Portland, Oregon, wearing a business suit and carrying a suitcase. The man paid for a one-way ticket on a flight numbered 305 to Seattle and this was the beginning of “one of the biggest unknown disappearances in the history of the FBI.”

Cooper was described by witnesses as a “quiet” man. He ordered a glass of bourbon and soda while he waited for the plane to take off. When the plane was in the air, after three o’clock in the afternoon, from seat 18C, he handed the flight attendant a small piece of paper saying he had a bomb in his suitcase. The hostess takes note of his request, 4 sets of parachutes and $ 200,000 in cash including $ 20 dollars, and then passes it to the captain.

In Seattle, Cooper releases passengers for money and parachutes. When the exchange ended, he made the crew take off again, heading for Mexico City. Cooper also ordered the aircraft not to fly more than 10,000 feet (3,048m).

After 8:00 pm, while the plane was somewhere between Seattle and Reno, he suddenly jumped off the tail of the plane with the ransom in a wooded area and disappeared. All that’s left is just his tie with a clip.

The mission to life of “Dan Cooper” is the subject of lucrative exploitation of American popular culture. It is so dramatic that it has become a source of writing inspiration for many authors, directors and composers. But unanswered questions must be patched up by guesswork.

In 1980, a boy found a rotten $ 20 bank on the Columbia River worth $ 5,800 matching the ransom serial number assigned to Cooper by the authorities. If measured in terms of inflation, the ransom of $ 200,000 in 1971 would be equivalent to about $ 1.2 million today. It is not clear what happened with the remaining money.

The FBI said it interviewed hundreds of people, followed countless leads across the country, and scrutinized the plane for evidence. Five years after the robbery, the FBI examined 800 suspects. Like newspaper New York Times reported in 2011, FBI files on the case to more than 12 meters long, cataloging more than 1,000 suspects.

At one point the FBI believed that the jump killed Cooper. At that time, snow covered the mountains in the area, which was unfavorable for any skydiving, especially at night. It was a cold night, the clothes Cooper wore was not warm enough and since then, no notes of money given to Cooper have been circulated by the authorities.

One of the suspects questioned is Richard Floyd McCoy. He committed a similar robbery and also escaped with even five months after Cooper’s flight. But McCoy was identified as not Cooper for not matching the descriptions provided by the flight attendant and for other undisclosed reasons.

The plane robbery carried out by DB Cooper is a prime example of the beginning of the era of hijacking. By the mid-1970s, at least 150 aircraft had been robbed in the US alone.

The FBI said that even if it no longer pursues the investigation, “countless items” that it has collected over the years will still be preserved for historic purposes at the agency’s headquarters. Residents can still contact the FBI if there are specific leads.
