Details of the Taj Mahal (India) are painted on the white marble face, the case is hand-engraved with the motif of the Taj Mahal, while the bezel contains the distinctive patterns of the Mughal Empire. According to Watch I Love, the wonders on the watch were selected by Jean-Marie Schaller, CEO Louis Moinet himself after traveling around the world. On this watch, the centerpiece of the Colosseum (Italy) is an onyx quartz, surrounded by a rainbow-aligned sapphire band. The steps of the building are engraved and polished. Sultan Ahmed Mosque (Turkey), also known as the Blue Mosque due to the wall tiles, the interior is blue. The church is represented on a mother-of-pearl inlay dial, meticulously carved to mimic the various details and shades of green of the church and its surroundings. Petra is an ancient city in western Jordan. To simulate the work, Louis Moinet’s artisans combined 3 techniques: carving, grisaille painting and distinctive fresco (painting on fresh plaster, requiring skill, precision and high speed). The white gold case is decorated with relief techniques, motifs symbolizing power and wealth. The version with the pyramid image of Khufu (Egypt) has a dial cut from the Willow Creek Jasper block. On the clock, the pyramid body is made of gold, covered with enamel beads that are fired at the right temperature to maintain its shape. The top of the pyramid is carved in gold, polished to effect. The image of King Khufu is made of black and gold basalt. The watch case is engraved with a distinctive pattern. The version of the Great Wall of China (China) is represented by the image of a golden dragon, surrounding a path made of jade stone. The blue gradient background is studded with 129 sapphires in various shades of blue and 11 diamonds. This arrangement creates a height effect, demonstrating the strength of the dragon. The statue of Christ the Redeemer (Brazil) is hand-carved on a gold background, facing the blue glazed sea. The surrounding row of colorful houses is also painted and glazed. The watch case includes a pattern of coffee leaves and tobacco plants, two images appearing in the national emblem of Brazil. Machu Picchu is an ancient city from the 15th century, now in Peru. Louis Moinet’s artisans take the sun as the center, surrounded by 4 falcons, the national symbol of Peru, meticulously hand-carved and hand-painted. Machu Picchu’s works are carved from Yowah Nut opal, the terraces below are lacquered green. Louis Moinet’s set of 8 Wonders of the World watches are presented in a wooden box with nu motifs. The lid of the box has the emblem in the Fleur de Lys pattern, located between two wine brown leather straps. Inside the box is covered with black leather, with the image of the globe by the mathematician Johann Gabriel Doppelmayr painted in watercolor. The watches have a 47 mm case, inside is a hand-wound, LM35 mechanical movement with a power reserve of approximately 72 hours. The 6 o’clock area on the front and the entire back of the watch is designed to clearly see the mechanical movement inside. The set of 8 watches sold for about $2.7 million.
