According to the annual weather rule, May and June are the time when the Northern region enters the peak of summer, starting to have many prolonged heat waves, causing electricity consumption to skyrocket.
In order for the people to reduce their electricity bills, the Northern Electricity Corporation (EVNNPC) has suggested how to use electrical equipment properly to increase the life of the equipment as well as to save electricity at an optimal level.

Workers of Ha Tinh Electricity Company advise on how to save electricity to customers. When the weather is hot, most families use continuously cooling devices such as electric fans and air conditioners. According to director of EVNNPC Customer Care Center Nguyen Trong Phung, air conditioning is the main factor that makes electricity bills soar. Research shows that, during hot weather, due to the continuous use of air conditioners, electricity consumption will increase by 50% -60% on average. Through studies and experiments have shown, when the outdoor temperature increases by 1oC, the electricity consumption of air conditioners increases by 2-3%. The habit of the hotter it is, the more families let the lower room temperature inadvertently make the air conditioner work continuously, leading to increased electricity consumption. To help reduce costs and contribute to stable operation of the power grid, EVNNPC recommends that customers who use electricity need to have the best temperature between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius. In case of not cool enough, users can turn on add a combined blower, which will save about 2-3% energy compared to turning the air conditioner on at a lower heat level. In addition, not regularly cleaning the air conditioner is also a cause of wasted electricity. In addition to the proper use of electrical equipment, EVNNPC recommends that people not simultaneously use large capacity electrical equipment (electric stove, washing machine, heater …) during peak hours (including including the time frame from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm daily). EVNNPC will be responsible for checking, handling and satisfactorily responding to all comments and problems of electricity customers in 27 Northern provinces.
