Located adjacent to the Vietnam – Laos border area, Sao La Nature Reserve in Thua Thien – Hue province is the common roof of many rare and precious species of flora and fauna, especially the survival space of saola – one of the most important species in the world. The rarest animal species in the world, living in the mountains and forests of Vietnam.
At Sao La Nature Reserve, Thua Thien – Hue province, the forest protection work in recent years has always been strictly implemented, contributing to minimizing the invasive impacts of humans on nature.

Forest patrols With an area of more than 15,000 hectares, Sao La Nature Reserve in Thua Thien-Hue province has a rich flora and fauna, containing a diverse genetic resource of more than 1,200 species of animals and plants. Up to now, the reserve still retains a large area of tropical evergreen closed forest, which is home to many rare species of birds and animals. From the center of the mountainous district of A Luoi, drive on the Ho Chi Minh route to the south about more than 30 km, when going through the tunnel through A Roang mountain, it is a majestic and unspoiled scene of primeval forests. Sao La Conservation Area, Thua Thien – Hue Province. The reserve covers an area of more than 15,000 hectares of natural forest, stretching across the two districts of Nam Dong and A Luoi, directly connected with Sao La Conservation Area in Quang Nam Province and Xe Sap National Reserve in Laos. Sao La Nature Reserve in Thua Thien – Hue province currently has three patrol teams and five forest protection stations, which are regularly mobile to perform forest protection tasks. Following in the footsteps of a five-man patrol team led by Mr. Pham Viet Nuoc, we walked along the slopes, crossing streams under the canopy of old forests straight into the core area of the reserve. This patrol is expected to take about six days to travel, so the backpacks of team members are full of essential equipment and items such as navigators, camera traps, binoculars. , personal items, medicine, pots and pans, food… Sticking with Sao La Nature Reserve in Thua Thien – Hue province from the very beginning, 11 years ago, Mr. Pham Viet Nuoc, a Ta Oi ethnic, set foot in most of the sub-areas in the reserve. this vast expanse. For Mr. Nuoc, the reserve is like his second home, he has the ability to read the names of each big tree in the forest; even a glimpse of a bird singing, he could tell what kind of bird it was. After finding a convenient location by a small stream, the patrol team assigned each other to set up a tent to rest and cook. Pham Viet Nuoc confided that this patrol job requires not only good health, but also forest skills and above all a love of nature to stick with the job. On average, a patrol team will work 22 days a month in the forest, of which 16 days are camping in sub-areas in the reserve. “The mountainous terrain in the reserve is very dangerous, with many dangers lurking for forest protection teams, especially in the rainy season. There are many cases of brothers and sisters with serious and life-threatening injuries due to sudden broken branches on them, biting by poisonous snakes, or in the process of crossing streams, when suddenly the water from upstream suddenly surged. Pham Viet Nuoc shared. Giant Truong Son at Sao La Nature Reserve, Thua Thien-Hue province. Recently, Sao La Conservation Area in Thua Thien – Hue province has contracted with A Luoi District Medical Center (Thua Thien – Hue) and Tay Giang District Medical Center (Quang Nam) to identify 4 rescue locations. fixed along the Ho Chi Minh route through the nature reserve, so that when an injured person comes out from the forest, ambulances will go straight to these locations to give first aid and take people to the hospital for treatment. timely treatment. On the patrol journey, Mr. Pham Viet Nuoc and members of the team stopped at many areas to observe and detect the traps of wild animals of the people to remove and collect. According to Mr. Nuoc, in the past, the number of animal traps that people put in the forest was as much as a “matrix”. Especially near the New Year holidays, people still have the custom of trapping wild animals to eat, that is also the time when patrol teams have to strengthen their duty force. According to the Management Board of Sao La Nature Reserve, Thua Thien – Hue province, from 2014 to 2017, the situation of trapping wild animals in the reserve was really a problem. In some years, the forest patrol force has dismantled more than 21,000 traps of all kinds. In recent years, thanks to the promotion of propaganda combined with the detection of strict handling of violations, the number of animal traps has decreased significantly. Since the beginning of 2021, patrol teams have driven 11 people out of the forest, dismantled 14 illegally built camps and collected more than 1,740 animal traps. After being dismantled, the animal traps will be returned to the stations for destruction according to regulations. Preserving the “treasure” of the green forest Sao La Nature Reserve in Thua Thien – Hue province is one of the places with the highest biodiversity in the region and in the world. This place owns the remaining natural primeval forest area of the Central Truong Son area and is home to rare and endemic animals such as saola, Truong Son muntjac, large muntjac, striped rabbit and many more. other animals and plants. According to the Management Board of Sao La Conservation Area in Thua Thien – Hue province, recent research results show that the reserve currently has 1,035 species of plants, 42 species of mammals, 139 species of birds, 54 species of fish, 84 species of reptiles, frogs, frogs and 284 species of butterflies. In which, many species are listed in the Red Book of Vietnam and the Red Book of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). According to Mr. Pham Viet Nuoc, in recent years, during the patrol process, the number of animals has increased significantly such as chamois, wild boar, deer, zebra rabbit, Truong Son large gill and some species of wild animals. growth such as monkeys, douc langurs… This is a great joy for the tireless efforts of those who are directly involved in forest maintenance and biodiversity conservation here. Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoa, an officer of the Forest Management and Protection Department (the Management Board of Sao La Nature Reserve, Thua Thien – Hue province), said that with the support of technology, especially the application of the camera trap system in the forest is being developed. promote efficiency, effectively support the management and scientific research on the development and distribution of animals in the conservation area. In the past time, the camera traps have provided many valuable documentary images to record the presence of animals and the most important goal of these camera traps is to record the saola in the area. conserve. The saola, whose scientific name is Pseudoryx khetinhensis, also known as the “Asian Unicorn”, is one of the rarest mammals in the world. Monkeys at Sao La Nature Reserve, Thua Thien-Hue province. Director of Sao La Conservation Area Management Board in Thua Thien-Hue Province Nguyen Thanh said: The unit has cooperated with many wildlife protection organizations to research and search for traces of saola species in the reserve. such as placing photo traps at locations where mondo grass grows and develops, because this is a “favorite” dish of saola; collect samples of strange animal feces or take samples of species squeezed in the forest for scientists to conduct tests and find clues… According to Director of the Management Board of Sao La Conservation Area in Thua Thien – Hue Province Nguyen Thanh, located in the same habitat area, in 2013, Sao La Conservation Area in Quang Nam Province recorded a saola by photographing a single individual. shock the scientific research and nature conservation circles at home and abroad. Therefore, officers and staff of Sao La Nature Reserve in Thua Thien – Hue province hope to also discover saola in the reserve in the future. In recent years, Sao La Nature Reserve in Thua Thien – Hue province has invested and equipped many modern machines to help patrol teams improve operational efficiency. Currently, forest protection officers only need to use smartphones to record patrol positions, locations with signs of forest encroachment, encountering animal traps, camps, encountering people entering the forest, etc. When there is a phone signal, this information and image will automatically be updated into the system, serving as the basis for the process of analyzing and processing information at the specialized department of the Management Board. Director of Sao La Conservation Area Management Board in Thua Thien – Hue province shared that the protection of primeval forests in the reserve still faces many difficulties and challenges. For example, the cutting of forest trees still occurs sporadically at some point in time, or the animal traps set up by people in the forest, although significantly reduced in number, have not been completely stopped… Therefore, the Maintaining forest protection patrols is important to minimize the negative impacts of humans on the forest’s ecosystem. The patrol team led by Mr. Pham Viet Nuoc as captain after many days of climbing passes, wading streams, “eating shacks, sleeping in the forest” has completed the task. According to Mr. Pham Viet Nuoc, after each trip, there is one more animal trap removed, by chance encountering wild animals, or simply seeing that the forest has not been violated, which is a joy and motivation for the members of the community. Team members overcome difficulties and dangers to stick with their work, contributing to preserving the “treasure” of the green forest for future generations.

The short voice of Y Moan is forever a mystery, like a primeval forest, like a bright wood fire, like wine that needs to be brewed well.

The late People’s Artist Y Moan. Musician Tran Khanh Nam explains that Y Moan’s voice is created by the basalt red soil nature of the Central Highlands with wild boisterous winds, warmed in the depths of the sacred old forests, not by horror. through academia. In Y Moan’s voice, many elements converge: a tenor, not only soaring but also powerful and dramatic, including low notes; a burning folk vocal (pop – rock); and a clear, gentle voice with a long, soft, and gentle flight with lyrical notes. “Y Moan subconsciously knew the difference. No matter what kind of song a musician writes, Y Moan will sing in his own way. Even Y Moan’s folk song still sings in his own way. Therefore, not every musical work Y Moan can handle successfully, in terms of vocal technique, only when touching the cultural source of the Central Highlands, Y Moan’s voice is truly ecstatic and delicate. and fullness in handling each level of musical work”, musician Tran Khanh Nam shared. Y Moan sings the most adventurous and magical song, that is when Y Moan sings his own fire, sings among the mountains and grasslands spreading, sings between the faces smeared with sunlight and in the smell of sweat and moisture. moldy, singing in the midst of the wild winds of the sky. Only then will Y Moan live fully for himself. Freedom to run and fly around. Y Moan has conquered listeners by its subtlety in depicting the deep, wild nature, longing, and beauty of the highlands. It was strange, wandering between heaven and earth in the Central Highlands, listening to Y Moan sing: “Walking on this earth alone/ Following in the footsteps of his father every day/ Alone across rivers, through mountains/ Looking for the sun and looking for lullabies For thousands of years”, I still miss the forest, I still remember the feeling: “I am like a lost bird flying on a high hill / I am like a wild animal wandering in the deep forest / Like a river longing for words / I am like a raindrop longing for words”, and then fell into another dreamland: “Here in the steppe, every herd of cows racing to the sun, / Melting the Dinh Nam trumpet, far away from Chu Prong mountain, far away from the wide sea / I was born , was born here, my father was also born here / Oh M’Drak, M’Drak”. Not stopping there, through his high but warm voice, loud but deep, wild but civilized, fierce but deep voice, Y Moan also brings the whole primeval forest covering the stage in urban cities, when singing. : “I want to forget the month and day/ Father goes to collect sweet berries/ Gives me relief from hunger overnight/ I want to forget my bare feet/ Father goes to collect every grain of rice/ Give me a dinner/ Oh day, thin shoulders / Trembling leaning against the trees. Oh time, forget it / Dad’s bulky legs walking in the wilderness…”. Unconsciously, listeners feel like they are seeing their hands, feet and whole body suddenly grow roots, dark green trees, to suddenly realize that humanity has the same starting point, that is from the forest. “Y Moan’s voice has an extraordinary inner strength, sings tirelessly, sings without the gap of time and space (sometimes on stage, sometimes around the fire), passionately singing this song through the song. all night,” said musician Tran Khanh Nam. Poet Vuong Tung Cuong said that every time he heard Y Moan sing, he saw a forest civilization. “In that voice, the forest is not only culture, the forest is also civilization. Brilliant but mysterious, like Y Moan’s own voice”, poet Vuong Tung Cuong commented. “From the years when Y Moan was famous (the 90s of the last century) until now, the Central Highlands has had many talented singers next to him, even his children followed in the footsteps of their father, but could not have a good voice and strange as Y Moan”, said musician Tran Khanh Nam admiringly. That’s how Y Moan is, a Yang ban vocalist, a wild nomad who spends his life spreading and praising the beauty of the Central Highlands mountains and forests. Old as fire, and new as fire, Y Moan is not easy to decipher.

Right next to Chu Mom Ray National Park are Cambodia’s Virachey National Park and Laos’ Southeast Ghong Reserve. This is one of 94 special-use forests of Vietnam, has the largest area of primary forest and contains rare genetic resources. In 2004, Chu Mom Ray National Park was recognized as an ASEAN heritage by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. The flora of Chu Mom Ray national forest is rich and diverse in number of species and status. This place has about 1534 species of plants, including 113 rare species of orchids, gymnosperms, oilseeds, conifers, needles, pine, bamboo, rosemary… This place once marked many fierce battles in the period of “cutting along Truong Son to save the country”. This fairy-tale scene made me imagine the magnificent primeval times. Sometimes thoughtful, sometimes vivid, with warmth, dreaminess, and incredible mystery.

About 200 km from Saigon, Bu Gia Map National Park is located at the end of the South Truong Son range. This place has a rather special geographical position, which is a transitional place from the Central Highlands to the Southern Delta. To the east of Bu Gia Map is Dak Nong province, to the northwest, it borders Cambodia. I have been to many forests and climbing mountains in Europe and America, but the tropical forests of Southeast Asia (including Vietnam) always have their own charm that is hard to resist. Nature at Bu Gia Map attracts visitors by the rusticity, of the wildest things such as fresh, cool air and clear streams. In particular, this place is also characterized by the primeval forest when there are many rare species of trees such as rosewood, red oak, and cedarwood. Visitors coming here are easily caught up in the rolling, fanciful foliage of ancient trees up to 40-50 m high. Visitors coming here are easily caught up in the rolling, fanciful foliage of the 40-50 m tall old trees. I silently watched the clouds fly alternately in the forest foliage, in the high blue sky. Stepping into the wilderness always gives you a feeling of being nourished, peaceful and elated at the same time. Here, I also learn how to exploit my senses more, feel the natural world more and more attractive. Going through the primeval forests, breathe in the fresh air created by the trees. The air given by nature will make your soul light and relaxed. Nature also always heals our troubles, doesn’t it? The habitat of the humid tropical forest is diverse. There are plants that are used by indigenous people as medicinal herbs, or used in daily life such as giant umbrella tree, mausoleum. The forest also has cool, clear streams that are filtered completely naturally through layers, layers of forest trees and rocks. With low mountainous terrain, the trails here have a moderate slope, quite easy to go. The plants intertwine with the stream create a diversity of landscapes, as well as the habitat of many animals. The biodiversity makes the forest scenery more pure and fresh. I could smell the damp vegetation and the rotten leaves slowly blending into the forest soil, giving off a pungent odor. The deeper you go into the forest, the more strange and curious you will feel. The most interesting thing is probably when being immersed in the rapids and natural lakes in the middle of the forest with the flow originating from Dak Nong province. The clear sound of the stream, the murmuring water helps your soul to be strangely peaceful. This is the time when I let myself float on the pure, blue water. Lakes and streams intertwine with the forest canopy, blending in and out, creating a feeling of friendliness and immersion as if returning to the primitive period. Not only watching the majestic scenery, I also learned about the culinary culture and traditional dishes of the S’tieng and M’nong people such as lam rice, Thuc soup, grilled chicken, stream fish, wild vegetables… Going to pick wild vegetables, collect firewood, catch fish from streams… then set up a kitchen, boil water for tree roots with a mausoleum and cook in the middle of the forest with bamboo tubes. Traditional Thuc Soup (Trau Pung) of the S’tieng includes rattan buds, bitter eggplant, spinach, wild mushrooms and stream fish. Com lam, a traditional dish typical of the cultural identity of the S’tieng people. In the S’tieng language, lam rice is called “Bien man don ka”, which means that sticky rice is cooked into rice in a bamboo tube. This is also an indispensable dish in their holidays and Tet. The S’tieng and M’nong people have a long tradition of association with the mountains and forests. Since ancient times, these ethnic groups have lived along primeval forests and depended on hunting, gathering, and shifting cultivation. Coming here, I also had the opportunity to travel on the beautiful border route. There are 2 main roads to go through Bu Gia Map, DT 741 road and Binh Phuoc province border. The difference is that these two roads can connect to form a circle embracing the forest. Bu Gia Map National Park – the green lung of the Southeast region, is definitely a great experience for anyone who loves nature. There is no phone signal or internet, where you are completely immersed in nature, listening and enjoying the sounds of the mountains. You will feel the breeze on your skin, hear the harmonious singing of birds, smell the fragrance of plants, taste the sweetness of the air… Note before the journey You must contact the managers of Bu Gia Map in advance. They will assign a guide to lead you to the desired location. Without a guide, rangers and border guards will not allow you to enter the forest. In addition, you need to prepare all the basic items when entering the forest: – Shoes with good adhesion, climbing ability, bring slippers (when not going to the forest), long socks that can be draped over pants to avoid squeezing, insects – Comfortable jungle clothes, good elasticity, swimwear for bathing – Snacks and drinks – Common medical drugs, insect repellents, extractors

If you can go on the road with the steps prepared, if you just need to get on a bus to get to that waterfall, then you will not meet Ta Gu waterfall.
So far, there has never been a tour that takes you here. However, it is the true backpacking trip: backpack on the shoulder, carry food and drink, bring a vehicle to the forest is on the way. Because when you arrive, you will see the strange charm of this waterfall. And when the legs have to crawl up each cliff, clinging to each tree root to touch, they see the value of discovering a primeval forest, a waterfall that has never had human footprints. Of course, now many people have come.

Ta Gu waterfall is located in Son Hiep commune, Khanh Son mountainous district (Khanh Hoa). From Cam Ranh city, turn along Provincial Road 9, go on the romantic Khanh Son pass about 40km to To Hap town. There is no signpost indicating where Ta Gu waterfall is, other than asking locals. Sometimes seeing you lost your way, people stop and say: “Are you going to Ta Gu waterfall? Let’s go this way.” I have met such enthusiastic people, so that once I can leave my footprints on this mysterious waterfall. From Hung Vuong street go forever, turn many times, go on a small dirt road, go up high, down low … finally to the waterfall. On holidays, there is only one person to keep the car, but normally, you just lock the car there and start conquering. On the way, you can stop at Apa Buoi bridge to see the unique stream flowing backwards to the West, feeling like water flowing from low to high. Ta Gu Waterfall was formerly known as Ivory Waterfall, later named Ta Gu because its water flows into the stream of the same name. The story associated with the waterfall is told by the old people here, then handed down. It was from the time when heaven and earth were in harmony, there was a stream with flowers blooming in four seasons and blue water. The fairies in the sky fly down to bathe in the stream, then go to the top of the mountain to dry their long hair. In it, there is the Ut fairy, because she was busy playing, the door of heaven was closed, and she turned into a waterfall on earth. The high mountain that the waterfall flows down like an ivory has a beautiful name: Mount Chalo. In fact, Ta Gu waterfall has been known for only a few years now, when many young people keep riding motorbikes and go out to explore. From then on, the discoveries to the waterfall kept increasing. It is undeniable that going to Ta Gu waterfall is a real adventure. The way down below is a dangerous one. The cliff collapsed, the tree roots protruded, the adventurer kept clinging to the tree’s roots, looking for the protruding mounds of earth to climb down to the waterfall. In fact, when I got there, I only saw rocks covered, and the water was flowing downhill. But you have to go to the end, so you jump on the cliffs to cross to the other side of the stream. The rocks here are very slippery, so many people in the front have deliberately dropped large bamboo branches for the following people to cling to. The simpler way is to just roll up your pants and wade through the water, because the highest place the water level is about 0.8m. After crossing the bank, go along the forest path opened by the previous person. The road is small, about 0.4m wide, very difficult to go, sometimes going up, sometimes going down, sometimes you have to cling to the roots of trees to climb. Finally to the cliff. The most difficult thing is to climb down the cliff at a height of 5m to conquer Ta Gu waterfall. There are many people who give up, just sitting on the rocks from afar and watching. Touching Ta Gu waterfall will feel different from any waterfall you have been to. The clear white water flows without noise, pouring into a lake about 200m2 wide. Next to the lake is a cliff about 6m high. There are many primeval forest trees here, many flat rocks to rest, sit there and watch the waterfall. In particular, there are many holly trees on the side of large trees. Currently, Ta Gu waterfall still has no services, but the attraction of the unspoiled waterfall has made more and more footsteps come. https://dulich.petrotimes.vn/

Although I have traveled to many places and conquered many mountain peaks with beautiful landscapes in the world, the journey to Nhiu Co San, Lung Cung and Lao Than is a trip that really leaves many memories with difficult impressions. forget. The trip is like reading a special book that each person usually only reads once. Photographer Hung Lekima and his friends have just had a trip to conquer the unique peaks in Lao Cai, where few people know about. He shares this journey with travel followers of Zing . Photographer Viet Hung Lekima atop Nhiu Co San. Cloud hunting season is usually from about October this year to April next year. We have three journeys to three different peaks in Lao Cai and Yen Bai from September to November 2020. Each time our group has from 15 to 20 members. The most memorable memory is the trip under the rain and mud, it took 8 hours to get to the shack at an altitude of 2,100 m, the rain showed no sign of stopping. The next day, we had to wait, watch, really wanted everyone to have more time to rest, so we started later than expected. When I finished climbing to the top, back to the shack, many of my companions left early, but there were also people who returned when it was already dark. Walking in the dark forest, slippery roads, raining… a heart-pounding experience… Lao Than – roof of Y Ty’s house It is said that it takes two stones to make fire, and it takes teamwork and cooperation to achieve great things. In times of fatigue when conquering the mountain peaks, I still see people around me sharing each other’s cakes, bottles of water, medicine and other drugs. Even unfortunately, someone got injured, walked slowly, someone stayed with the porter to help them… There was no shortage of words of encouragement to overcome difficulties together, especially when our group traveled a lot when it was raining, cold and muddy. When you face many difficulties while climbing, it is also a fertile ground to show the other world inside you, the world of compassion, helping people around, which are priceless things. Located at an altitude of 2,860 m, Lao Than peak is considered as the roof of Y Ty, in the territory of Phin Ho village, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province. This mountain is one of the unspoiled places with primeval forests and rich vegetation offering a variety of landscapes. This place has a very beautiful waterfall like a silk ribbon dropped from the sky. People are easily bewildered with the wooly path in the dense forest with mossy rock layers at the foot, wide view with majestic mountains. Nhiu Co San deserves to be one of the mountains in the north to conquer. Nhiu Co San is also known as Horn Trau mountain, because it also has another nearly equal mountain next to it. We were surprised: “This is the paradise of the heavens”. The sun is warm and welcoming. A whole river of white clouds played at my feet, like I didn’t know and thought a bit about how cold and wet the ground was… My heart seemed to burst. Even so, this is a relatively easy mountain to conquer. We climbed straight to the top in the day with 7 km and took 6 hours, to watch the sunset and then back to the shack. Early the next morning from the shack we continued climbing for about 1 hour to reach the top to watch the sunrise in the sea of clouds. Nature has many miracles After countless hikes and flashbacks of the trips. I remember the early morning, the dark night, climbing the mountain in the cold mist, clouds and unknown winds… The hard work of “marching” just to watch the mountains coincide with thousands of mighty soldiers. “Mountains walk in the cold mist, mountains go in clouds, mountains go in the wind, mountains quietly watch themselves in the deep valleys, mountains are mysteriously herds of horses, mountains coincide with thousands of mighty soldiers.” Remembering the feeling of the night in the cold forest, it was hard to sleep. Remember the feeling of helplessness when your legs hurt too much, your back is tired but you still don’t know when you can get down the mountain. Remember the hikes in the pouring rain, cold, slippery roads and muddy feet. Remember the temporary lunches on the road that could not be lit because the wind was too strong. Even many people think that it is simply another name for “phèo”. In fact, climbing is a form of adventure tourism, an outdoor sport where participants do not have any means of transportation other than their own feet. You climb mountains not so the world can see you, but so you can see the magical world of yourself. When we crossed the hills, mountains, plateaus and strange countryside by ourselves, we had to accept much more difficulties and hardships. And surely there will be no shortage of times when bored and tired, it seems that you can give up. But the feeling of approaching the magical world inside you, touching the very beautiful, wild and pure pieces of the forest and nature is truly worth a thousand times the hardship that we have experienced. by.

As a trail connecting the two districts of Phong Tho, Lai Chau province and Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province, the ancient stone road Pavi is a new discovery and has charm for visitors who love trekking.
With trekking enthusiasts, the ancient stone road Pavi has now become a point to conquer every time you come to the Northwest. Up to now, this road is 100 years old since the commencement date.

Pavi stone road was started construction in 1920 and inaugurated in 1927 with pebbles and large rocks lined up from the hands of the villagers at the foot of Nhìu Co San mountain. The construction of this road is done entirely by hand by indigenous peoples. The total length of the road is about 80 km, which is a road connecting the two provinces of Lai Chau and Lao Cai to transport cardamom, minerals and other goods. The path through primeval forests, cardamom forest and soaring mountains in the Northwest, the road is beautiful and not too steep, wagons can walk. The French also built an airport on a large plateau near Nhiu Co San village to gather and transport goods. Pavi ancient stone road. The ancient stone road has been likened to the lifeline of traffic and is named after the French Congregation Pavie. This is a road crossing the magnificent Nhìu Co San mountain (Horn Trau mountain) to connect Sang Ma Sao commune, Bat Xat district (Lao Cai) with Sin Suoi Ho commune of Phong Tho district (Lai Chau). To form this road, nearly 50,000 Hmong and Dao people sweated and their lives for 5 years to complete 80km of stone trails. With the development of modern roads connecting the two provinces of Lao Cai – Lai Chau through O Quy Ho pass, the road is gradually forgotten and left in the middle of the deep forest, but about 30 km of rocky roads still exist until today. now on. However, only about 17km remains almost intact after 100 years. The stone path is like sleeping in the middle of a great forest, with many historical and cultural sediments. On the way to explore, we catch a village of the people, passing through primeval forests or poetic bamboo forests or waterfalls like fairyland … The ancient stone road Pavi always has a special attraction for adventurous tourists. Exploring this trail is usually those who love climbing, trekking and jogging. To conquer the ancient stone road Pavi, visitors will begin trekking from the village of Sàng Ma Pho, through the relatively unspoiled forest where the road is most preserved. There are still traces of the graves of those who participated in the road construction on the roadside. The moss-covered rocky path, zigzagging through the forest will eventually bring the trekker foot to the old French airport at the foot of Nhiu Co San mountain, which is also the end of this heritage journey. Conquering Pavi Road is quite leisurely, but there are many beautiful experiences with views from above to the terraced fields of ethnic minorities, feeling the power of people on the mossy stone road in the enigmatic forest. and watch the family of Nhìu Co San mountain standing in the clouds. Previously, in 2019, the People’s Committee of Bat Xat district (Lao Cai) and the People’s Committee of Phong Tho district (Lai Chau) conducted surveys to connect and develop tourism for this route. After this field survey, the ancient stone road Pavi has really promoted the tourism potential of two communes and two districts, as well as preserved the cultural and historical values of the ancient stone road Pavi. In particular, connectivity in tourism development promotes socio-economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction for local people. The exploitation of tourism on this road has contributed to creating an attractive new tourist destination, diversifying tourism products, attracting more capital to invest in tourism, and at the same time being an opportunity for the units. Tourism business to meet, exchange, expand cooperation, create quality tourism products to serve tourists. Surely this place will be an impossible place for those who love nature, love to explore. If you want to try the feeling once in your life going back to the past, you can choose a 2 day 3 night itinerary to go with the ancient stone road Pavi.

From mid-April to mid-June, the peak of the holidays April 30 to May 1 every year is the time when Cuc Phuong – primeval old forest really turns into a magical space. Visitors coming here will be immersed in the festive season of the wonderful mother nature.
  “Carnaval” by Butterfly

There is no adjective that can fully describe your moods and feelings when you get lost in Cuc Phuong butterfly season. Along the tour, on sunny days, colorful butterflies with millions of individuals will flow from the jungle to welcome you. Butterflies like a bandage of the goddess of the Muong are adorned naturally, gently, and fluttering around you. Festival of the jungle – Photo Manh Quyen “The good weather since the end of last year is the perfect condition for butterfly larvae to reproduce. About last March, all over the deep forest bloomed. This sign allows us to assess that this year Cuc Phuong will “have a butterfly season”. Since mid-April, many butterfly streams have appeared along the itinerary. For sure about the forest this year, visitors will get lost in Mother Nature’s amazing dance “. Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Head of Science and International Cooperation Department (Cuc Phuong National Park) excitedly shared. As noted, at this time, around noon to near the end of the afternoon on sunny days, many colorful butterflies gather throughout Cuc Phuong forest. There have been thousands of visitors coming to this place, witnessing, experiencing and saving this wonderful moment. “Milky Way” night primeval forest Not only giving visitors that priceless gift during the day, but at night, the mother of nature in this famous forest also generously gives us a special thing of a very familiar insect. lovely. Although you have experienced firefly viewing anywhere, but if you have not experienced a night of Cuc Phuong firefly season, it will definitely be the thing you most regret. Starting with tiny spots of light, flickering in the night forest canopy. Stop and focus your eyes on that darkness. Just a moment later, before your eyes is a miracle. Thousands, tens of thousands, and then millions of millions of bright spots racing against each other on the night forest floor with sparkling colors. You will unleash your mind to float along the imaginations and associations. Each shining line is as beautiful as a galaxy. Magic forest night – Photo Manh Quyen Gentleness and frequency of burning algae offer a fairytale scene, but from a scientific perspective, this is also an important stage in the life of the fireflies. It is these bright spots that will activate their breeding mechanisms, making an important contribution to keeping the ecological balance and biodiversity of a forest. On the fanciful and mesmerizing path from the Botanical Garden to Mac Lake, you will be given a lot of useful information by Cuc Phuong’s enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides. They and this forest, we will arouse clear feelings about the nature of the country. Preserve heritage – Spread love With such rich ecological potential and landscape, Cuc Phuong National Park has been transformed in a new context. Not only fireflies and butterflies, natural gifts are being researched and developed by the park’s staff into unique ecotourism products. Observe rare primate, watch the dawn of the jungle and hear the early morning bird song in the Semi-Wild Area; Journey to discover the magnificent Cat-silk cave system; Cross primary forest and learn Muong culture; The nights of “sleeping with grass and flowers” in the middle of the forest with “three-no specialties” in the morning see the peacocks spreading their wings to welcome the morning; See the deer and deer looming under the forest canopy at the reserve of precious genetic resources; admire the collection of precious natural specimens at Cuc Phuong Museum; “Add green to the old forest” with visitors participating in planting trees in the national park, responding to the program “Planting a billion trees” of the Government … And especially a unique experience tour entitled “About House ”- where visitors themselves will be involved in the post-rescue wildlife re-release process to the natural environment. All of these ecotourism products are a meaningful and sustainable direction for environmental education that the first national park in Vietnam is trying to implement. Tourists carry out hand washing before visiting. “The year 2021 is the National Tourism Year in Ninh Binh. And the year 2022 will mark the 60-year journey of building and developing Cuc Phuong National Park. We are drastically implementing synchronous solutions on all heavy functions and tasks of the Park. Forest protection is the core, as a premise for ecotourism research and development. Hopefully, with our determination to innovate and efforts, along with the support of tourists and society, Cuc Phuong is a peaceful place to return and carry a stronger message of conservation ”. Mr. Do Van Lap, Deputy Director of the Garden shared.

  Vale do Javari, Brazil

Illustration. One of the most isolated places in the world is the Vale do Javari region in the Amazon forest area. It is home to 14 Amazon tribes and they do not have any contact with the outside world. The area covers an area of 86,000 square kilometers, which is about the size of Austria. According to The Guardian, in March 2019, an expedition was organized by the agency for indigenous Brazilians, with the aim of easing tensions between two rival indigenous groups in the Vale do Javari region. The slums Looking at a map of a city, you will see clearly indicated streets, parks, highways, and buildings. However, in some cities, there are areas that do not appear on the map. According to BBC Future, in cities like Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and Lagos in Nigeria, the slums are not depicted on the map because these areas are not the top priority here. In fact, many of the largest cities in the world have large communities with impoverished populations that live there and never appear on maps. Cenotes Yucatán Cenotes, Mexico According to photographer Klaus Thymann, this underwater cave system is located in the Yucatán peninsula of Mexico. This cave system is thousands of kilometers long and has not been explored since the Mayan period; and it doesn’t exist on any map. Klaus Thymann begins the exploration of the Yucatán Cenotes cave system and takes pictures of it, with a desire to raise awareness about this unique cave preservation. Rivers flow through caves and form the aquifer of Yucatán and support about 11 different ecosystems. Gangkhar Puensum Mountain, Bhutan This is probably the tallest mountain in the world that has not been conquered yet, it is estimated its height is about 3,000 meters. This mountain has not been mapped and unlike others, it has yet to be explored for spiritual reasons. For the locals, some areas on the mountain have been refugees for Buddhist saints for centuries and the mountains themselves have been home to gods and goddesses. Patagonia, Argentina and Chile regions According to Geospatial World, Patagonia region stretches almost as far as Antarctica. It is littered with tropical forests, glaciers, so remote and inhospitable that it is almost impossible to map. Mapping this area is a difficult and dangerous task, as the ice fields here are comparable to those of the polar ice. Northern mountain forest complex, Myanmar The US economic sanctions against Myanmar for many years have helped the country successfully protect most of its primary forests from the effects of economic development. But this seems to be changing, the area of primary forest is disappearing and with it many vulnerable species. However, it is very difficult to assess the damage because there are almost no roads in the forest and very few people can come in to assess the situation. This means primeval forests are likely to disappear before it has been fully mapped. Cape Melville Cape, Australia Cape Melville is a cape off the coast of Queensland. And a surrounding wall made of granite has separated this headland from human exploration. Although the habitat inside the rainforest in the headland is effectively protected, it also means that the area is virtually unmapped. North Sentinel Island, India North Sentinel Island is part of the Andaman Islands between India and Myanmar. Due to the local population’s hostility towards outsiders (who are not Sentinel residents), this place has not been explored and mapped. In 2006, a boat carrying two fishermen drifted into the farmland of North Sentinel Island and they were killed there. Since then, there have been other reports of tribes firing arrows at passing helicopters. Ocean bottom The vast ocean floor and the bottom of the five oceans cover up to 71% of the earth’s surface. Even though we have mapped the ocean floor, according to The Conversation of Australia, the map is clearly low resolution. In fact, our map of the ocean floor is less detailed than our map of Mars, Moon and Venus. That is because the water flow has blocked the mapping tools. But oceanographers are still researching and conducting more perfect, detailed ocean floor mapping. Sandy Island, South Pacific Some locations that actually exist are not mapped, while areas that do not exist are shown on the map. One example is Sandy Island located in the south of the Pacific Ocean. This island appears on marine maps, world maps as well as on Google Earth and Google Maps. But when the scientists began to study this supposedly located halfway between Australia and New Caledonia, they discovered it didn’t exist there and probably never existed. Even so, the island has been on the map for many years and it is thought that it was just a mistake.

Ho Lak, a tourist destination that is like a jewel in the middle of the Central Highlands, possesses a charming, poetic beauty that attracts anyone from the first time arriving.
Lak lake is the largest natural freshwater lake in Dak Lak province and the second largest in Vietnam (just after Ba Be Lake), peacefully located in Lien Son town, Lak district. Covering an area of about 6.2 km2, located at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level, with the main water supply coming from the Krong Ana river.

From the city center of Buon Ma Thuot, drive 56 kilometers south for more than 1 hour, you will be present at this beautiful natural place. As the largest freshwater lake in the Central Highlands, the lake is surrounded by a vast primitive forest with rich flora and fauna, the surface of the lake is flat, green, reflecting the silhouette of mountains and forests. The course is beautiful, peaceful and very poetic. Living around the lake are mostly M’Nong people from villages such as Jun village, M’Lieng village, Le village … which still retain many unique traditional cultural values. Therefore, when traveling to Lak lake, tourists not only can feel the natural beauty but also have the opportunity to discover cultural beauty. In it, you should not miss the opportunity to experience elephant riding in Ho Lak. Surely this is a very wonderful experience for those who love the Central Highlands elephants. Accordingly, in Jun village, there are about 20 elephants living and participating in tourism activities, visitors can visit to play with elephants, feed the elephants, and especially ride elephants to visit Lak Lake, interesting wonder. Below is a series of photos by Dr. Mai Kieu Phuong capturing the elephant moments in Lake Lak at dawn and dusk.

Cleio Junior, a firefighter at the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Natural Resources, discovered a dead anteater while he was on a fire control mission near the Amazonas state. Photo: Reuters. The above data is based on the research results of MAAP when conducting the analysis of very high resolution satellite images and data, recorded in the territories of all countries in the Amazon Delta, including Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Guyana and Surinam. Accordingly, the Amazon’s primary forest area lost in the past year alone is equivalent to that of the Central American nation of El Salvador. The countries with the most loss of Amazon primary forests in 2020 are Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador, respectively. Still according to the MAAP, more than 65% of deforestation of the entire Amazon region in 2020 was recorded in Brazil. South America’s largest country by acreage has lost a total of 1.5 million hectares of forest in the past year, up more than 13% from the year before. The area of deforestation in Brazil is nearly twice the size of Puerto Rico and is mainly concentrated in the south of the country. Meanwhile, the deforestation area in Bolivia in 2020 amounted to a record 240,000 hectares, mainly due to the fires occurring in the Southeast of the country that destroyed the forests in the ecosystems. Chiquitano and Chaco slices. In the case of Peru, the country lost 190,000 hectares of primary forest last year, up 18% from 2019 and also a record number. The main cause of deforestation in Peru is attributed to the burning of forests for arable land. Since mid-2019, data from the early warning satellite system showed that the deforestation rate in the Amazon rainforest in Brazil tended to increase, to the fastest in a decade. According to the Brazilian Institute of Aerospace Research (INPE), the alarm system recorded forest deforestation in May up to 739 km2. This is higher than the 550 square kilometers recorded in May 2018, and twice as high as the area of forest that was destroyed two years ago. According to the head of INPE, Claudio Almeida, 2019 is a “bad year” for the Amazon. As the country with the most area of Amazon, but Brazil is also the country with the most forest loss in 2018 with nearly 16,187 km2. The main reason is due to deforestation for livestock, soybean cultivation and mining. According to the data of Mapbiomas – a research project on the disappearance of protective forest areas in the Amazon forest, in the last 30 years there has been 953,000 hectares of lost forest including protected areas, lands indigenous and inland lands. It is recognized that this figure is equivalent to 6 times the size of the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil’s largest city and South America. The results of Mapbiomas add that, excluding protection forests, the Amazon forest area destroyed in the past 30 years has reached 39.8 million hectares, equivalent to 19% of the total natural forest area ever existed. in 1985. Satellite imagery also shows that 84% of the lost area of the world’s largest rainforest has become agricultural land, including pastures and pastures. farmyard. In early December 2020, the European Union (EU) envoy to Brazil, Ambassador Ignacio Ybanez said, until Brazil has not committed to preventing deforestation of the Amazon, the Free Trade Agreement between the EU and the South American Common Market (Mercosur) will not be approved by the parliament of the EU member states to come into force. This happens when the world is concerned about the “green lung of the Earth” that is Amazon being burned more and more. The EU Embassy in Brazil mentioned the deforestation of the Amazon and participation in the Paris Agreement on climate change. In fact, the Amazon wildfire is already at an alarming rate. It not only affects a few countries but is also global because it is the largest forest in the world with immeasurable value.

With the rate of tropical deforestation on Earth accelerating despite slowing global economic growth, a study released on March 30 shows that the area of primary forest is burned or cleared in 2020. area of the Netherlands.

The Amazon forest was cut down in Brazil. Documentary photo: AFP / VNA According to a report based on satellite data by the Global Forest Monitoring Organization, Brazil was the most severely damaged, the area of destroyed forest in the country was 3 times higher than that of the second ranked country, the DRC. . In 2020, up to 4.2 million hectares of primary forest in the tropics will be destroyed, 12% higher than the previous year. Altogether in 2020, the tropical regions will lose 12.2 million hectares of greenery, including forests and tree plantations, mainly due to agricultural activities. Researchers also pointed out that extreme heat and drought have also caused wildfires, burning vast forests in Australia, Siberia and deep in the Amazon region. The author of the report, Ms. Frances Seymour of the World Resources Institute said that these losses reflect a state of emergency in climate. This is not only an ecosystem crisis, but also a humanitarian disaster, loss of economic potential. The study has provided some evidence that the restrictions imposed by countries to prevent the COVID-19 epidemic are also impacting this trend worldwide, as it increases the rate of illegal exploitation due to the forests are no longer protected, or more people have returned to the countryside. The researchers warn that the worst consequences will happen if countries stop protecting forests for economic purposes. However, according to Ms Seymour, the “worst sign” of last year was that forests became victims of climate change, according to which wetlands are still burning. According to research, trees and soils absorb up to 30% more carbon produced by human pollution each year, so the rapid disappearance of tropical forests will result. Uncompensable damage to the Earth’s ecosystem. The researchers emphasize that destroying tropical primeval forests in 2020 will emit 2.64 tons of CO2, the equivalent of India’s annual emissions, or 570 million cars, or twice as much. the emissions of all vehicles circulating in the US. Ms. Seymour warned that the more the world is delaying preventing deforestation, or slowly pushing towards the goal of neutralizing emissions, the more likely it is that natural forests that absorb CO2 on Earth will disappear completely. In Brazil, the government has cut budgets for environmental programs, leaving many Amazon lands to be exploited for resources and agribusiness, resulting in 1.7 million hectares of primary forest being destroyed in 2020. , up 25% from 2019. Meanwhile, the Pantanal tropical wetlands, the paradise of ecosystems stretching from Brazil to Bolivia, also suffered many fires. Bolivia is the country with the third highest deforestation rate in the world in 2020. Indonesia is a bright spot when reducing deforestation rate by 17% compared to 2019 and for the first time in 20 years, it escapes the group of three countries with the highest deforestation rate in the world. Deforestation rate in Indonesia has decreased for 4 consecutive years. Last year wet weather, combined with government policies, had had a long-term positive impact on the destruction of primary forests, researchers say. Forests cover more than 30% of the Earth’s area, while tropical forests are home to 50-90% of all terrestrial creatures. Earlier this week, research published in the journal Nature Ecology & Evolution estimated that growing commodity demand in rich countries is accelerating deforestation in tropical regions. Recent studies have warned that to a certain point, deforestation in the Amazon threatens to change the climate of the entire region, turning tropical forests into savannas.
