Sharing about her new summer collection, designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam said: For generations, the lotus flower has always been associated with the lives of Vietnamese people with an ethereal and beautiful image. Nearly mud that does not stink of mud”. Lotus flowers have many colors, each color symbolizes good and noble meanings. Besides, the lotus is also considered the national flower, symbolizing the strong and undying vitality of the Vietnamese nation. Therefore, the lotus flower has become the “muse” of many artists in the works of poetry, music, and painting and is strongly applied to the fashion industry. However, to raise the level of lotus, giving the lotus a distinct color in fashion is an easy but extremely harsh requirement for designers. Ao Dai collection Lotus Vietnamese beauty fragrance of designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam has created ao dai and lotus in harmony but the personality is not mixed. The “Lien Hoa” collection was inspired by the early summer lotus seasons. As one of the two muses of the “Lien Hoa” collection, model Bao Ngoc shares that she is very proud every time she wears ao dai designs with folk colors that combine tradition and modernity. The collection of Lien Hoa Ao Dai by Do Trinh Hoai Nam is inspired by a unique and special lotus flower, bearing the message and meaning of honoring the traditional and noble beauty of Vietnamese women. At the same time, there is a combination of typical and typical elements of the traditional culture with the ao dai, helping the ao dai to develop and elevate to new heights. Thanks to the skillful hands of designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam, lotus flower designs not only honor the beauty of women but also contain many traditional cultural beauties of our nation for generations. Resonating with the delicate sewing technique is the soft material from the Do Trinh Hoai Nam brand.

For some people, sewing is an endless source of inspiration and a way for them to unleash their creativity. Dr. Christine Na-Eun Millar is one such person.
On Christine’s personal Instagram page, everyone was in awe and felt lost in the fairy world with the characters of the queen, the princess, and the noble and beautiful lady.

In addition to her job as an anesthetist, Christine Na-Eun Millar has a passion for stylish 1700s clothes. Christine’s husband and children take pictures of the family in ancient fancy outfits Modern royal family “Working full-time as a doctor in the hospital, so after stressful work, I needed something to focus on my creativity and energy,” Christine said. I find out of all the methods that sewing makes me the most comfortable. The meticulousness of the needle line and the patiently arranging of things slowly helps me to remove the stresses of work. Glad to see that something you did on the computer was silk stitched. ” Christine with her son From childhood to adulthood, Christine fell in love with the classic gowns, princess dresses and pretty dresses. So she started trying again. Although she loved sewing, but unlike the others, Christine did not like hand-embroidery. So she began machine embroidery by drawing or “digitizing” the embroidery pattern on a computer, precisely specifying the location of each stitch, and in what order. The sewing-loving female doctor said she learned sewing from afterschool programs, local classrooms, and female homework classes. She made doll dresses since she was a little girl, read books, watched videos, read blogs and tried to learn how to sew herself in college. Talking about the creative process, Christine said: “I always have a list of about 50 dresses in my head that I want to make. At some point, a whim or a thought came to me that it was time to make that dress. For example, just last night, I woke up in the middle of the night and I knew I had to do something good. “I love fashion from the 1740s to the 1780s and the 1880s to the 1900s. I think there is a certain silhouette that I like, and I love the uniqueness of the outfit during these times. . Christine dresses are very sophisticated, beautiful and of course take a long time to complete. The strawberry-colored dress can take about 100 hours to make and the Sleepy Hollow black and white striped dress can take 80-100 hours. A simple dress, maybe about 40 hours. The decoration part takes the longest time. A fully embroidered royal suit usually takes about 350-450 hours to embroider, digitize, and design takes a long time. I love every little detail and try to find the best and because I see it as a hobby, very enjoyable and a great way to relax at the end of the day. ” We asked Christine what she did with the clothes she made and whether she would sell them: “I have a big attic and now I keep each outfit in a box, with all of them. I used to wear them to local events, dance in Europe and take pictures, and hopefully, once the COVID-19 translation is under control, I can start to do more than that. But for now, they are kept in storage. I sell my older outfits when they no longer fit, and I also donate some to local clubs for the beginners to sew. Patches without adequate clothing can be used. ” “I am making a women’s suit in the 1880s, disguised as Lady Victoria’s doctor.” I love the history of medicine and I really want to be able to talk about the history of medicine in makeup. As a doctor since the Victorian era. Whenever someone is injured, or has seizures or chest pain, I would be more than happy to run to and help. ” I think working as a full-time doctor and sewing during my break is a great way for me to encapsulate everything I love, both science and art. ” Let’s take a look at the beautiful dress designs of the skillful female doctor Christine Na-Eun Millar:

Some major US banks were able to multiply their profits at the beginning of the year. The German financial institutions, on the other hand, are still struggling with weak returns. What are the reasons?

Deutsche Bank boss Christian Sewing takes over the post of chief lobbyist of the private financial institutions in July. The board of directors of the banking association BdB today elected Sewing as the successor to the chairman of the board of directors of the private bank Berenberg, Hans-Walter Peters. Sewing is considered a “doer” who has managed to get Germany’s largest financial institution out of the red in the middle of the corona pandemic. Nevertheless, Deutsche Bank is also lagging behind its foreign competition, especially the large Wall Street houses. A look at the latest quarterly figures shows how big the gap is. According to this, the American industry leader JPMorgan alone earned in the first three months of this year with 14.3 billion dollars, almost five times the value of the previous year. Goldman Sachs increased profits sixfold to $ 6.7 billion. Deutsche Bank will not publish its new quarterly figures until next week, but a look at the fourth quarter of 2020 reveals how far behind the group is. The German industry leader earned just 189 million euros during this period, compared to 624 million euros for the year as a whole.

Only one percent return

Even beyond the absolute figures, the US banks outshine the domestic institutions by far. JPMorgan’s return on equity for the first quarter of this year is 23 percent. The Deutsche Bank managed eight percent last year, the entire German financial sector together, i.e. the private banks, the savings banks and the cooperative banks, came to just one percent. There are many reasons for such a huge difference. The fact that the US banks were able to increase their profits so strongly in the first quarter is mainly due to the good economic situation in the country. The financial institutions were able to cancel a large part of their risk provisioning for bad loans because they have to fear fewer loan defaults due to the recovery of the economy – US GDP is likely to rise by 6.5 percent this year. At JPMorgan alone, profits soared by $ 5.2 billion.

Big profits from the investment business.

At the same time, the large US companies benefited from their strong position on the capital markets and the companies’ high need for advice. JPMorgan took in investment banking, $ 2.9 billion, more than ever. Goldman Sachs even increased revenues in the division by three quarters. Deutsche Bank is likely to benefit from this boom too, as it is one of the largest foreign exchange and bond traders in the world. But the rest of the German banking industry is just sitting on the bench. Commerzbank has been saying goodbye to trading on the capital markets for years. Savings banks and Volksbanks were never really there. Of course, this is an extremely volatile business, but in times of zero interest rates it is an even more abundant source of income. Investment banking is also the greatest source of income at Deutsche Bank. Without the income from this division, the bank would not have managed to get out of the red.

Fragmented banking market

In other areas, too, German banks and savings banks are finding it difficult to increase their income from fees and commissions. Industry observers point to the still fragmented banking market in this country, which prevents adequate pricing of services. In fact, the division of the market into private banks, public savings banks and Landesbanken as well as cooperative houses remains a German peculiarity. This is an advantage for price-sensitive private customers. However, it was precisely this division that politicians wanted, that Germany, as the leading economic nation in Europe, has only one internationally positioned bank, experts have been complaining for years. However, the banks themselves are to blame for their misery. The German financial institutions are not able to reduce their dependence on the interest business and, in return, to increase their income from fees and commissions. Quite different in the US: JPMorgan increased noninterest income by 39 percent in the first quarter, but interest income by only eleven percent.

Comparatively high costs

According to management consultants at McKinsey, Germany’s banks are not offensive enough. In terms of their deposits, they lend significantly less than their European and US competitors. They are also lagging behind when it comes to selling systems. Overall, German providers are more dependent on recurring fees than their foreign competitors, according to a study published last summer. The sluggish income leads to a relatively high expense ratio for the institutes. The cost / income ratio has risen from 66 percent in 2007 to 83 percent. That is well above the international average of 70 percent. In order to achieve this standard, the banks have to further automate and digitize their business – with the result that Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank in particular have to cut many thousands of jobs.

Due to the increasing number of cases, Bangladesh has imposed a strict one-week corona lockdown. Everything has to close – except for the textile industry.

By Peter Hornung and Shehab Sumon, ARD studio South Asia Bangladesh has imposed strict restrictions due to the increasing number of new corona infections. There is a strict lockdown with an all-day curfew – but there are exceptions. While most shops and markets are closed and local public transport is just as paralyzed as air traffic, Bangladesh’s textile factories are allowed to continue producing. “We have appealed to the government to keep the factories open,” said Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, vice president of the national association of textile manufacturers BGMEA ARD studio South Asia . The textile companies currently have so many orders: “It is our responsibility to deliver the work on time.”

Fear of another break-in – and of the virus

Bangladesh’s textile industry fears a similar slump as it did a year ago, when orders worth billions were canceled. At that time the government had also closed the textile factories. In addition, the international fashion companies wanted to lose significantly less weight because of the pandemic – a disaster for the country’s most important industrial sector, which is responsible for 80 percent of Bangladesh’s exports. Although the major customers came back later, they would have asked for large discounts in some cases, according to BGMEA. So one damage remained. But now it’s different – the sewing machines keep running. Also that of Shoheda Akhter, who has been working for “Solar Garments” for 16 years, one of the numerous textile factories in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka. Nevertheless, the 30-year-old is very worried. On the one hand, because she is afraid of losing her income again, as she did last year, her factory should still have to close. On the other hand, because she is afraid of the disease. Even with a low fever, she is afraid of being infected, says Shoheda. After all, with so many factory workers, it is not an easy task for companies to ensure safety.

Jharna Begum hopes not to get infected with the corona virus in the textile factory. But she is dependent on her work. Image: Shehab Sumon / ARD-Studio South Asia She goes to work on foot in the morning and does not drive an overcrowded company bus like many other workers. But the danger is real. Nevertheless, someone like her cannot actually afford to be afraid of corona, says Shoheda: “We get money when we work. If we don’t work, we don’t get anything. So we don’t have much leeway to think about the corona virus.” The equivalent of about $ 250 a month, Shoheda’s family of four lives on. Your own income is even more important since her husband lost a better-paying job in the textile factory because of Corona and can only work as a doorman. Shoheda’s colleague Jharna Begum feels the same way – the fear of loss of income is greater than that of illness. The security in the factory is not far off, says the 26-year-old. “Because this is a textile production, we have to work very closely with one another. We cannot keep the required distance at all. That is due to the nature of our work.”

Open textile mills less dangerous than closures?

In view of the corona risk, it is better to leave the factories open than to close them, says BGMEA Vice President Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, who is a factory owner himself. “During the lockdown last year, we found that the virus is more likely to spread when the bus stations are full and the streets are because workers are moving home.” At that time, the workers had fled the cities by the hundreds of thousands in pure need so as not to starve to death. But isn’t there a risk that the textile factories will become hotspots because of the working conditions? No, says the textile entrepreneur, all hygiene regulations must be observed. In addition, there are company-owned hospitals and isolation centers for the workers. The workers ‘organization “Bangladesh Center for Workers’ Solidarity” does not require the factories to be closed for safety reasons. Her most important demand: the workers’ wages must under no circumstances be cut or completely canceled – like last year, when many were suddenly left with nothing. Aika Fischbeck from the German women’s rights organization Femnet says that the international fashion companies should not be indifferent to what is going on in Bangladesh: “We not only see the factory owners in Bangladesh as having an obligation, but also the fashion companies commissioned should and must take responsibility also ensure that the factories can observe distance rules and hygiene measures in order to protect the workers from infection. ” The only hope left for the worker Jharna Begum is to get through the pandemic in good health despite the working conditions in the textile factory and to be able to continue to feed her family. Because her husband is unemployed because of the effects of the corona pandemic, so the couple cannot repay loans at the moment. But the 26-year-old is confident: “With the grace of the Almighty, he will get a job again as soon as the coronavirus is over.”
