In June, up to 2 out of 5 undersea cable routes in Vietnam had problems, affecting the speed of accessing foreign websites in Vietnam. One of the two lines completed repairs on June 11, while the other line will not be completed until at least next month.

Due to the complex structure and passage of the seabed, repair of fiber optic cables can take weeks. Illustration. Specifically, the APG fiber optic cable had a problem since May 11 near Hong Kong. The cause of the fault was determined to be a shun fault. The repair process of this cable route lasted 5 days, during which the entire service to and from Hong Kong, China of APG project member partners was interrupted. On the morning of June 11, a representative of an Internet service provider (ISP) confirmed that the error of the APG fiber optic cable had been fixed. For the AAE-1 route, the incident on May 25 was determined to be a broken cable. The incident partially disrupted the carrier’s service to Hong Kong. According to the announcement of the company in charge of the AAE-1 cable route to Vietnamese ISPs, it is expected that the repair time for this cable line will last from June 22 to July 13. The two cable lines mentioned above are the ones with large capacity. The APG route, with the investment of four Vietnamese carriers, VNPT, Viettel, FPT and CMC, has been in operation since December 2016. With a maximum bandwidth of 54 Tbps and a length of 10,400 km, the APG route passes through many Asian landing points such as China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Meanwhile, the AAE-1 line has been in operation since July 2017, with a length of 25,000 km and a total capacity of 40Tb/s. This cable route has the role of improving quality towards Europe and the Middle East as well as providing additional capacity and redundancy towards the connection direction to Hong Kong and Singapore. According to representatives of ISPs, when an undersea cable problem occurs, the network operators must navigate through other fiber optic routes or other directions of the route that is having trouble. Specifically, Viettel has routed and supplemented traffic for TGN-IA, APG routes to Singapore and AAE-1 to France. Meanwhile, CMC Telecom increased capacity via cable direction across Southeast Asia (A-Grid), connecting Internet from Vietnam through Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. VNPT navigates and loads other cable directions that are operating stably such as CSC, AAG, IA, SMW3.

Both are anti-epidemic models thanks to the ‘steel’ defense fence erected against COVID-19, but both Singapore and Taiwan are having a headache with a new wave of epidemics.
Thanks to strict immigration and quarantine measures, Singapore controlling the COVID-19 epidemic quite well and starting to consider the development of a tourist bubble with neighboring countries.

However, since the case was recorded at Changi Airport at the end of April, the COVID-19 wave broke out again in the lion island nation. Since April 26, the country has recorded more than 200 community infections. This number in March was only 9 cases. From the initial infection, Changi Airport is now the largest outbreak in Singapore with more than 70 cases. Singapore recorded more than 200 community COVID-19 cases since April 26. After detecting the cluster of infections, Singapore immediately blocked Changi Airport. But medical experts in this country believe that the virus has spread to the community before the blockade order. Facing the complicated epidemic situation, Singapore decided to further tighten social distancing measures from May 16 to June 13. According to the new regulations, the number of people allowed to gather will be reduced from 5 people to 2 people, each family can only receive 2 guests a day. Employees are forced to work from home, restaurants and public food centers will temporarily suspend on-site dining, serving only take-out food. Shopping centers further reduce the number of people entering and leaving. Attractions, exhibitions, museums and libraries will reduce their capacity to 25% from the current 50%. Similar to Singapore, another anti-epidemic model is Taiwan are also struggling to cope with the second wave of COVID-19. The island has gone 253 days without recording any domestic infections, but now the number of COVID-19 cases is increasing sharply. In 2020, Taiwan, although bordering China, recorded less than 1,000 cases. Guardian call this an extraordinary number. However, on May 14, Taiwan’s health authorities reported 29 “domestic” cases. This number increased to 180 on May 15, 206 on May 16, 333 on May 17 and 240 today. In just one week, the number of COVID-19 cases in Taiwan increased by more than 40%. Medical staff prepare to test a person suspected of having COVID-19 in Taiwan. (Photo: Reuters) Cracks began to appear in the anti-epidemic wall of Taiwan at the end of April when 2 pilots of China Airlines were confirmed with COVID-19. The pilots flew together on a cargo flight to the US and were quarantined at another Novotel upon their return to Taiwan. By early May, dozens of China Airlines pilots, flight attendants, their relatives and hotel staff were confirmed to have COVID-19. However, before these cases were discovered, some went to restaurants, bars and clubs. These cases led Taiwanese to criticize the government’s decision to reduce the quarantine period for crew members from 5 to 3 days in mid-April. After an investigation, the Novotel hotel was discovered to let a number of quarantined pilots share the same building with regular tourists. During the time when Taiwan stops welcoming foreign guests, Novotel Hotel opens incentive programs to welcome visitors on the island. Dr Chiou Shu-ti, a former health commissioner of Taipei, said authorities were “playing with fire” by easing quarantine requirements. After recording the number of cases skyrocketed, the COVID-19 warning in Taipei and New Taipei was raised to level 3 in a 4-level scale, People must wear masks outside, not to gather outdoors for more than 10 people. Cinemas, sports centres, libraries and entertainment venues were also forced to close. It is not clear how the new drastic measures will help Taiwan and Singapore overcome the new wave of the epidemic. But experts believe it will take weeks or even months for these two places to once again defeat COVID-19.

When Singaporean travel blogger Aaron Wong booked a flight to Hong Kong this month, he was prepared to be disappointed because he did not have much faith in the “tourist balloon”.
According to the Wall Street Journal , the flight was part of a much-anticipated “travel bubble” between the two cities. According to the old plan, the Singapore and Hong Kong governments will open their doors to tourists in the two cities on May 26.

While the rest of the world struggled to find a way to relax travel restrictions, the two Asian financial centers have been trying for months to open up to tourism. In November 2020, the number of Covid-19 infections in Hong Kong skyrocketed, forcing Singapore and Hong Kong to postpone the “travel bubble”. And now, a new outbreak in Singapore has extinguished hopes of a “travel bubble” once again. “Next time, they should announce the enforcement 24 hours in advance so that Covid-19 does not have time to react,” Wong, 33, joked. The “travel bubble” connecting Singapore and Hong Kong was postponed twice because of the Covid-19 epidemic. Photo: Getty Images. Travel thirst The two city governments carefully drafted detailed criteria and announced new safety regulations to open the border. Many people who want to travel rush to book tickets to secure seats on two scheduled return flights each day. They plan to go to specific places, meet friends. Now again they are disappointed. “Singapore is only a 3.5 hour flight from Hong Kong, but now it feels like the other side of the world.” WSJ quoted Emma Herblot – 42-year-old French expert working for an online payment company in Singapore – lamented. Singapore and Hong Kong have been relatively successful in containing the Covid-19 epidemic and are still applying strict isolation regulations. People returning from anywhere still have to be isolated in concentrated for 2-3 weeks. So many Singaporeans and Hong Kongers have not traveled for more than a year now. Travel blogger Aaron Wong at Changi Airport in February 2020. This is his last trip before the Covid-19 epidemic. Photo: WSJ. Unlike the US or Europe, people stuck in Singapore and Hong Kong don’t have much choice when it comes to commuting. The area of Singapore is only 728 square kilometers, Hong Kong is only slightly larger. Andrew Scott – a 41-year-old editor who works at a Hong Kong media company – said he planned to visit friends in Singapore. “It was fine until around January, I really wanted to go somewhere,” he lamented. I was so excited about the travel bubble plan and then it was all a disappointment.” Last year, Asian tourism experts and officials asserted that the “tourist bubble” was the key to opening the border. They say that two-dimensional “bubbles” will appear first, followed by regional “bubbles”. Some experts envision a giant Asian “travel bubble” consisting of countries that have succeeded in containing the Covid-19 epidemic. The Hong Kong government has used a “travel bubble” to encourage people to get vaccinated in recent weeks. “Great but dull Singapore” Since the beginning of the pandemic, Singapore has recorded more than 61,600 cases of Covid-19 per 5.8 million people and 31 deaths. Meanwhile, Hong Kong recorded 11,800 cases per 7.5 million people and 210 deaths. As the number of infections in Singapore increased, Chitra Karamchandani (30 years old, in Hong Kong) was extremely worried. She has not seen her fiancé for the past 1.5 years because of restrictions on entry to non-citizens. According to the plan, he was supposed to fly to Hong Kong at the end of this month and they will hold a wedding in June. Karamchandani had detailed plans to welcome her fiance, including walking around the city and learning to cook Japanese noodles. The “bubble” burst made her extremely disappointed. “When will the border reopen? We just want to see each other again,” she lamented. Dennison Wee – 26 years old, working in finance in Singapore – hopes his trip to Hong Kong will become an inspiration for him to continue blogging. He has written about journeys through nearly 100 cities around the world. Without a “tourist bubble”, Singaporeans and Hong Kongers are trapped in the city’s small size. Photo: Getty Images. But since March 2020, he has only written a few reviews about hotels within a radius of about 20 km around his apartment. Mr Wee, 26, said: “Singapore is great but it’s dull. We must have only one hill to walk on, a few islands.” To keep himself busy, travel blogger Wong participates in projects to stimulate local tourism. He continued to wait for another 2 weeks until the authorities had a new notice. “All we can do is hope,” Wong said.

I have known about Spanish food for a long time, but first time in Singapore. At that time, I had the opportunity to go to Lion Island quite often. Singapore consists of a large island and more than sixty small islands clustered in the middle of the ocean, possessing no natural resources, but rich in the will and intellect to turn the stopover of British traders in the early 19th century into one of the most prosperous developed countries in Asia today. Singapore is also known as a culinary paradise, with the presence of countless unique dishes from around the world. The me of those years was young and fresh, looking at everything was sparkling with hope, every day joyfully welcomed a beginning leading to many new things, all joys and sorrows could become poetic and unexpected. Singapore is one of the places where my adventurous, amazing, and beautiful life is kept. On special occasions, we often have dinner at Clarke Quay or Boat Quay, where there are many attractive restaurants located on both sides of the bustling Singapore River. Before dinner that night, he suggested playing lots to decide where to eat. When I was busy getting ready, it was the turn of the dress, he wrote on the back of five small business cards, folded in half. He said: “There are five surprises! You choose!”. After hesitating for a while, picking it up and putting it down, I opened the lot and shouted: “Ahhh! Spanish food!!!”. I had never tasted Spanish food before, so I was very excited. He chuckles: “That’s great! I know you like it!”. We took the MRT from Orchard Road straight to Boat Quay, then walked along the river. I wear a soft silk dress, a deep peach color. He wore a smoky shirt, gray tie with tiny silver stars, and black trousers, quite formal. After a hot, dry day, the cool evening breezes bring moisture to my skin, crept over my lashes, in my hair, into me through the delicate silk. He joked, saying: “Look at you, like a small sail! Be careful, the wind blows it away!”. But that “small sail” just touched the river, overflowing, eagerly ready to sail to the great sea, not having anticipated all the storms and storms, even though they had known storms. We went to Tapas Tree, a Spanish restaurant near the foot of Elgin Bridge, on Clarke Quay, chose a table on a floating raft close to the river embankment to see the city at night. A Spanish singer with wavy brown hair, dreamily holding a guitar sings melodious Espanol love songs, while diners sip a dinner prepared by a Spanish chef. The restaurant’s menu is full of attractive Tapas dishes. Tapas is originally an appetizer, made from vegetables, meat or seafood, with a lot of hot and spicy spices such as turmeric, pepper, garlic, dried chili, paprika and olive oil. In my opinion, if the main flavor of Thai cuisine is lemongrass and coconut milk, French cuisine is cheese, Chinese cuisine is soy sauce…, then Spanish cuisine is garlic and olive oil. It makes most of the dishes, like the fish sauce of Vietnamese cuisine. A meal of Tapas, of course, cannot be without Sangria, a cool cocktail, made from red wine with a little brandy, sugar or honey and fresh fruits such as oranges, lemons, chopped apples. The first sip of Sangria was wonderful, fresh and joyful rushing into my senses, brimming with vibrant Mediterranean colors, pangolin on the tip of my tongue. It stimulates, stimulates the taste buds, makes us crave for all the Tapas dishes that have just been served, a little of each, delicately presented in rustic red-brown terracotta plates. First, we started with Gazpacho, a cold tomato soup that is very popular during summer days. Tomato peeled, seeded, ground with bread cores soaked in cold water, added garlic, vinegar, sugar, bell peppers and olive oil, into a smooth paste, chilled before enjoying. Then comes Patatas bravas, a potato dish that is sliced square in the style of chess pieces, deep fried in oil, then drenched in tomato sauce, sweet peppers, red peppers, olive oil and some other condiments, served while still hot. The potato pieces are still crispy but covered with tomato sauce, sweet and sour, and even greasy with olive oil. And Champinones al ajillo, sautéed mushrooms with olive oil, garlic, and hot peppers. I used to love shrimp, so I can’t miss Gambas al ajillo, garlic shrimp with olive oil sauce, served with crispy bread. We talked endlessly, laughed together, welcomed the river breeze, leisurely sipped Tapas with Sangria wine, sipping every precious moment. I want to anchor the night at this riverbank forever, afraid that time will take it away. The brown-haired singer plays the piano, the melody of “Lo Mucho Que Te Quiero”, a passionate Spanish love song: “Trust me when I say how much I love you. Believe me when I say how much I care about you. Forgive me, give me peace of mind. All I need is time, to prove my love for you…” . He sang, as he walked towards us, and then stood right next to him, as if he were singing for us alone. He holds my hand, looks deep into my eyes, so tender. The waiter suddenly brought a tray, in a small gift wrapping tray wrapped in ash pink paper, tied with a silver ribbon, very beautiful. He thanked him, took the gift, gave it to me. He smiled, said softly like the breeze: “This gift belongs to the lady, senora! Wish you all the best, little sail!”. I was swept from surprise to surprise, just sitting there, speechless. The river wind blew fiercely, as if to lift me up. The city lights cast shadows on the river at night with seven sparkling rainbow colors. The invisible anchor I dropped somewhere in the stream of light… The gift I received that night was a thick, beautifully printed book, “A Little Taste of Spain” – “A Little Taste of Spain”. A detailed guide on how to cook Tapas dishes with vivid illustrations. The first page had the line he dedicated, the handwriting circling like tiny crabs crawling across the paper: “To remember the Spanish dinners by the river, and many more in a lifetime” . I’ve tasted Spanish from restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City, in Manila, in Kuala Lumpur, in Penang, in Jakarta, in Bangkok, in Hong Kong, in London, in Paris, in Berlin, in Copenhagen, even right between Madrid and Barcelona, but never having the same taste of dinner on the banks of the Singapore River again. Sometimes I still make Spanish at home. I like Gambas al ajillo best, because it’s quite simple, but delicious. All you need is really fresh peeled shrimp, some big garlic, a few dried chili peppers, some parsley, scallions, a little pepper, a little salt, butter and of course quite a bit of olive oil, and you’re done. One part minced garlic, the rest thinly sliced; chopped dried chili or leave it whole, depending on who likes it more or less spicy; finely chopped parsley and scallions. Marinate the shrimp with minced garlic, pepper, and salt, let it infuse. Put the pan on a low heat, add olive oil, butter, garlic, chili, shrimp shells, and stir until fragrant, then turn off the heat, filter the oil and discard the residue. Thus, the olive sauce will be dense with shrimp flavor and rich. Return the oil to the pan, heat it to medium heat, add the sliced garlic and chili, fry until fragrant, then the shrimp. Quickly flip up and down to cook shrimp evenly on both sides. Placing shrimp on a Spanish-style deep red-brown ceramic plate is not only beautiful, but the ceramic will help keep the dish hot. Squeeze a few drops of lemon juice on top, then drizzle with oil sauce, sprinkle some pepper, scallions, parsley on top, serve hot with crusty bread. Hai passionately. Freshly cooked shrimp, pink red; firm and sweet shrimp meat; Garlic olive sauce is ecstatic, hot spicy. And Sangria, how can there not be a glass of Sangria on the table with Tapas when summer comes! The book “A Little Taste of Spain” I still keep, even though it has long been no need to open it when cooking Tapas. Years after my first Tapas, for Christmas, I received a package from across the ocean, with no name from the sender. In it was a cookbook: “Spain – Mediterranian Cuisine” (“Spanish – Mediterranean Cuisine”). I saw the familiar little crabs crawling cautiously across the front page: “Merry Chrismast! Enjoy your New Harbor!” – (“Merry Christmas! Let’s have fun in the New Harbor!”) . Which new pier? I was suddenly bewildered. Where did my anchor go in the riverbed that sparkled with color that night? Time has pushed the windy little sail out to sea, encountering many unpredictable storms. New and old wharf. To my surprise, I found five faded business cards, with a faint crease in the middle, smoothed out, sandwiched between the pages of a book. The backs of all five cards are written the same, just two words: “Spanish food” . I laughed, but my eyes were suddenly wet. The old river wind blows back.

Users only take 10 seconds to breathe into the machine and less than 2 minutes later have COVID-19 results. Photo: Straits Times According to the Singapore Straits Times, the device will ensure the safety of movement and inspection at large-scale events. Previously, local health technology company Silver Factory worked with the National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID), Changi Airport and security company Certis to develop the device. Silver Factory’s ventilator, called TracieX, is proven to give results nearly as accurate as a PCR test, which takes only about 2 minutes. Compared with PCR test, the sensitivity rate of TracieX ventilator is above 95% and its specificity is above 99%. Device sensitivity is the ability to confirm which test samples are positive, while specificity is used to confirm a negative. The price for a test with this device is only 20 USD (about 460,000 VND). The device has been tested at NCID, Changi and Certis airport terminals with over 400 participants. During a test at Changi Airport last month, passengers were randomly selected and asked to voluntarily provide breathing samples. “Testing with a ventilator will be less invasive, effective and quick to give results. From there, creating favorable conditions for passengers to fly,” said Mr. Abert Lim – Vice President in charge of passenger experience of Changi Airport Group – said. Silver Factory Technology’s TracieX ventilator uses a sensor chip to identify molecular traces in the breath of patients with COVID-19. Medical staff take a breath sample and put it into the processing device to read the results. Photo: Straits Times Disposable breathing tubes with control features keep infectious material sealed, thus preventing direct contact of these materials with others, such as healthcare workers. The user will breathe into the device for 10 seconds. The device is then inserted into a portable reader for analysis and results. The process is completed in less than 2 minutes. Silver Factory is currently working with Enterprise Singapore under the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry with the ambition to bring this technology overseas.

Google has partnered with Western Union and Wise to enable this feature. According to Josh Woodward, Director of Product Management at Google, the company is starting to launch cross-border payments with Singapore and India, with the goal of expanding globally by the end of the year. “As we’ve done with some Google products, we’ll test, learn, iterate, and scale,” he said. Under the agreement, Western Union handles cross-border payments on Google in more than 200 countries, while Wise supports more than 80 countries. When Google Pay users in the US want to send money to someone in India and Singapore, they’ll be notified of the exact amount the recipient received. Inside the app, users can choose a provider – Wise or Western Union – and the time it takes for the money to reach the recipient. Currently, the Google Pay money transfer feature only allows US users to send money to users in India and Singapore, but not vice versa. In addition, the feature is also new to individual money transfers. Mr. Woodward shared that they chose India and Singapore first because of their importance in the remittance market. According to the World Bank, India was the largest recipient of money in the world in 2019 with more than 80 billion USD. Meanwhile, the US is the largest depositor. Du Lam (According to TechCrunch)

Singapore currently revolves around projects to turn the Lion Island into a city in the midst of nature.
Although it is already one of the greenest cities in the world, Singapore does not accept resting on its laurels. With challenges such as climate change, more extreme weather conditions and increasing urbanization, the island government is determined to build a nation where the next generation can enjoy a quality living environment. quality than the previous generation.

Singapore Green Plan 2030 is the latest plan with the cooperation and efforts of 05 ministries (Ministry of Education, Ministry of National Development, Ministry of Natural Resources and Sustainability, Ministry of Industry and Trade and Ministry of Transport) to advance to a greener and more sustainable Singapore, while offering more business opportunities and creating more jobs. A City Between Nature, Sustainable Living, Renewable Energy, A Green Economy and a Resilient Future By 2026, Singapore will build 200 hectares of new parks, which are about 8 times the total area of My Dinh Stadium. By 2035, Singapore will have an additional 1,000 hectares of green space. At the same time, Quoc Dao will plant 1 million more trees with the ability to filter an additional 78,000 tons of CO2 for a clean air and plenty of shade. These are some of the key goals of the Singapore Green Plan 2030. Singaporeans and future visitors can expect more nature-based recreational activities, such as hiking, bird watching at the upcoming Nature Parks: Rifle Range, Mandai Mangrove, Khatib Bongsu … Natural parks offer visitors an immersive experience in nature, and also act as green buffers to reduce visitor pressure on nature reserves. Roads in the industrial park will be dense with native trees and plants in multi-layered structures, mimicking those in tropical rainforest. This will make the shady routes wider, cooler and more comfortable for pedestrians. By 2030, the bicycle routes in Singapore will be widened from 460km to 1,329 km. At the same time, the Park Connector Network will be expanded from the current 340km to 500km by 2030 so that tourists and Singaporeans have maximum access to nature.

No one wants to be trapped in a foreign country in the midst of a global pandemic. However, American software engineer Jon Lu, 25 years old, chose to stay in Singapore to accumulate a unique culinary experience for himself …
“I went to Singapore for the first time in August 2019, most of my time was spent working abroad,” the New York native shared. “I only really started living in Singapore since March 2020”.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) alumni at that time had to consider choosing a stopover in their year-long project in Asia. With proficiency in both English and Mandarin, Jon finally decided to choose Singapore. Lion Island has many unique and interesting experience activities, but Jon has chosen for himself a very own way to explore the country and its people. And the cuisine is the answer to Jon’s unforgettable experiences in this island nation. The young man “collapses Singapore” Jon Lu and the chef of Odette restaurant. (Source: CNN) Up to now, the American has visited a total of 255 restaurants, including cafes and street vendors. Including 37 Michelin-starred restaurants. These figures are considered an impressive feat, especially in the period when the city’s restaurants have been closed for live dining for more than two months. Not to mention that Jon had to take a temporary break for a while because his health declined. When the city started to partially close the country – also known as Circuit Breaker – from April 7 to June 1, 2020, restaurants were forced to switch to a take-away form. ). But that didn’t stop Jon, who continued to extend his culinary experience by ordering takeout. Not once, but twice a day, during the first half of this difficult period. And most of all, these are not ordinary meals. Jon Lu has chosen to focus on the city’s many famous culinary landmarks, including the Michelin-starred honor restaurants – which usually take weeks, even months, to book a table. “It’s been a tough time for the F&B (food service) industry – I want to do as much as I can to help support local businesses,” Jon said. This special culinary journey is detailed by Jon Lu on his personal page [email protected] (Source: CNN) With endless opportunities to experience at Singapore’s top restaurants – a feat that even the culinary critics take a year or two to achieve, Jon becomes the expert at hand. tips on the best food destinations in Singapore. In his favorite Michelin star restaurant lineup is Odette with 3 Michelin stars by chef Julien Royer. Jon has experienced the meal here 4 times and are extremely satisfied. He highly appreciates contemporary French restaurants for “extremely delicate and technically excellent” dishes. In the Japanese restaurant category, Jon Lu chooses Sushi Kimura. Although this place only received 1 Michelin star, he still fondly visited twice. He shared that chef and owner Tomo-o Kimura gives diners “thicker” and “more exotic” fish pieces. These include sujiko (salmon roe), oki aji (white-tongue jackfish) and usubu hagi (unicorn fish). Not to mention Kimura’s shari (sushi rice), “sure but still surprisingly light,” and served at “perfect temperature”. When it comes to Singaporean cuisine, chef Han Li Guang’s Labyrinth restaurant caught Jon’s attention. It is famous for displaying enhanced versions of local dishes – like Signature Chilli Crab – that originated from Lion Island with mostly locally sourced ingredients. Jon Lu has a passion for culinary experience since he was an intern in Chicago, USA. (Source: CNN) Jon Lu’s most-visited site in Singapore is, surprisingly, a new two-year-old restaurant named Preludio that has yet to receive a Michelin star. Run by Colombian chef Fernando Arevalo, Preludio serves “writer’s cuisine” around an annual theme called “chapter”. Jon Lu himself “is an ordinary person who does not like to repeat dishes at high-end restaurants”, so the fact that he dine at Preludio nine times (in 2020) is “a testament to their creativity”. . Jon Lu shared that food and exploring places have been a hobby of him since 2015. At that time, he was just a student intern in downtown Chicago and in a multitude of culinary landmarks just a few steps from your office … Since then, Jon Lu has been to at least 300 different restaurants each year, starting with popular cafes and boutiques. This journey continues until he graduates in 2019 and there is no sign of stopping in the future. (According to CNN)

Many Vietnamese brides who marry Singaporean husbands often remain silent when suffering from domestic violence. They do not dare to leave their husbands because their husbands threaten to cancel their long-term relative visas, take them home and separate them from their children if they get divorced.

Get married through the brokerage center Many foreign brides are “invisible people”. After many years of suffering from an abusive husband, not allowed to leave the house and often starved, Lyly (character has been renamed) – the 30-year-old Vietnamese bride has decided to leave her bad husband. Lyly said her ex-husband, a driver about 60 years old, often beat her when he was angry, drunk or losing money. “I don’t know where the market is, where the bus station is. I have no money and no friends. I ask him for money to spend in the house, but he always asks” What do you need money for? For another guy? “, She shared about her difficulties. Once, he didn’t buy anything for her and their son for a week. Lyly said she took her son away at least 3 times but returned because her husband promised to change. However, Lily continued to suffer violence. He even starved her mother and daughter. Desperate, Lyly turned to the police. Thanks to her shelter, she was referred to lawyer June Lim, who represented her to carry out free divorce proceedings. Lyly has sole custody of his son – who is a Singaporean, 6 years old this year. After the divorce, Lyly’s ex-husband canceled her long-term relative visit visa. However, she was fortunate enough to be sponsored by a friend to be able to stay. “If no one helps, I don’t know what to do,” she said. Not only Lyly, many foreign women married to Singapore face a wide range of issues from domestic violence to poverty and uncertain futures in Singapore. These women seem “invisible and have no voice” because of their immigration status, limited rights, lack of protection by law and difficult access to social welfare. Many people lack understanding of the rights and benefits they enjoy, feel helpless in need of help because they do not know where to go for help. This is partly due to their limited social network in Singapore. They are often financially dependent on their husbands. Some people suffer from marriage violence or conflict for fear of leaving their children if their husbands cancel their long-term relative’s visas upon divorce. Member of a matchmaking company in Singapore. Photo: The Straits Times The government gave “fulcrum” A spokesman for the Lawyers Association Pro Bono said that it is very important that the Singapore Government publicizes its stance on the immigration status of foreigners after divorce. This is a “thoughtful and tolerant” approach by the government of this country, she said. In addition, a spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior (MHA) told The Straits Times that widows, spouses or divorced Singapore citizens have the right to custody of children under the age of 21. They are allowed to live in Singapore on a long-term visitor visa until the child reaches 21 years of age. Although the former Singaporean spouse cancels the visa extension, they can still be sponsored by another Singapore citizen or permanent resident over the age of 21. At the age of 21, children can sponsor foreign parents to stay. Since December 2018, the Pro Bono Lawyers Association and Ms. June Lim – CEO of Eden Law Firm – have started the LEAF Project (Empowerment and Legal Support for Foreign Spouses). . The LEAF project is now part of a Family Justice Assistance program that helps noncitizens or Singapore permanent residents with marriage matters. The project aims to provide free assistance to a spouse who is a foreigner who meets a number of conditions, for example with a per capita monthly income of S $ 950 or less. They decided to start this pilot scheme because foreign spouses with children in Singapore are a “particularly vulnerable” group. They often depend on their partner for all aspects of their life. They may not have anyone to help them in the face of home violence or a broken marriage. In many cases, they also do not have any other friends or relatives in Singapore, they just have to look to charities like LEAF to stay. To avoid unfortunate things from happening, the Singapore Department of Family and Social Development has introduced a marriage support program for couples of different nationalities to help them have a strong marriage foundation. The program offers classes that teach English or Mandarin for the brides, give instructions on how to communicate, deal with conflicts in a multicultural setting, as well as tips on living in Singapore.
Health experts say India was caught off guard when the pandemic appeared to be under control this winter – Photo: Reuters On April 22, India recorded 314,835 new Covid-19 infections, the highest number in a day in the world since the outbreak of the pandemic. Days after this information, Canada and Singapore simultaneously decided to stop flights and people entering from the South Asian country. According to Reuters, the Singapore Ministry of Health on April 22 said it would stop accepting admissions – with both short and long-term visas – with a history of moving to India in recent times. Singapore is investigating Covid-19 infections and reinfection cases at a migrant workers’ dormitory and is quarantining more than 1,100 people at the facility. To date, 17 workers here have re-positive for the virus. The Singapore government said the measures to restrict travel with India will help it prevent the risk of infection in migrant labor hostels because there are many people from India. Indian workers at Singapore Changi Airport prepare to board a plane home on June 12, 2002 – Photo: Reuters Also on April 22, Canada announced a ban on direct flights from India and Pakistan for 30 days from 23:30 on the same day to prevent the spread of new Covid-19 variants. Several Canadian provinces have reported cases of new Covid-19 variant from India. Health Canada Minister Patty Hajdu said India currently accounts for 20% of recent air traffic to Canada, but more than 50% of positive tests are detected upon entry. This creates a great risk of infection. Earlier this week, the UK also put India on the “red list”, effective April 23, which banned all flights from the South Asian country, after it recorded 103 cases of infection with a new variant. first discovered in India. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) then advised Americans to “avoid all travel to India”. On Sunday, Hong Kong (China) announced a 14-day ban on passenger flights from India starting April 20. New Zealand also suspended entry for tourists from India earlier this month out of concern about new Covid-19 variants in the billion-pop country. Since the beginning of the pandemic up to now, the total number of Covid infections in India is 15.93 million. The number of deaths recorded on April 22 was 2,104, bringing the total number of deaths from the beginning of the epidemic to 184,657, according to official statistics. India has been caught off guard as the pandemic seems to be under control this winter, health experts say. At that time, the number of new infections a day was only about 10,000 cases and authorities began to relax restrictions, allowing large crowds. According to experts, some new strains of corona virus, especially the double mutation originating from India, are the main cause of the number of new infections in the country soaring.

After many years of suffering from an abusive husband, not being allowed to leave the house and often starving, Lyly, a 30-year-old Vietnamese bride, decided to leave her bad husband.
Lyly (the character has been renamed) said her ex-husband – a driver about 60 years old, often beat her when he was angry, drunk and losing money.

She shared in English: “I asked him for money to spend in the house, but he always asked:” What do you need money for? Let another guy? “.

Once, he didn’t buy anything for her and their son for a week.

Desperate when there was nothing to eat in the house, she called the police for help. She talked about the violence she had endured. “I don’t know where the market is or where the bus station is. I have no money, no friends ”.

She had taken her son away three times but then returned because her husband promised to change each time. However, he continued to beat her. In the end, Lyly decided “that’s more than enough”.

Currently, she is working as a kitchen assistant. “My son is too afraid of him. All times of violence affect the boy “.

Many foreign brides do not dare to speak up when being abused by their husbands.

Thanks to her shelter, she was referred to lawyer June Lim, who represented her to carry out free divorce proceedings. Lyly has sole custody of his son – who is a Singaporean, 6 years old this year.

A spokesman for the Lawyers Association Pro Bono said that it is very important for the Singapore Government to publicize its stance on the immigration status of foreigners after divorce. This is a “thoughtful and tolerant” approach by the government of this country, she said.

After the divorce, Lyly’s ex-husband canceled her long-term visit visa, but a friend at the church helped her to sponsor her to continue living in Singapore.

“If I don’t have people to help me, I don’t know what to do,” said the woman.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior (MHA) told The Straits Times that those who are widowed or divorced from a Singapore citizen and have custody of children under the age of 21 are “essentially” allowed to live. stay in Singapore on a long-term visit visa until the child reaches 21 years of age.

“This allows them to take care of the Singaporean here,” said a MHA spokesperson.

These foreigners can also be sponsored for living in Singapore by another Singaporean or another permanent resident who is 21 years of age or older. That means when the child turns 21 years old, he / she can further sponsor his / her parent for a long-term visitor visa.

Foreign wives often keep quiet when they are abused by their husbands, the spokesman said, because husbands often threaten to cancel their wives’ visas and deny them custody if they divorce.

In addition, whether or not a foreigner has permanent residency in Singapore will be one of the main judicial considerations when deciding who the child will live with after divorce.

In December 2018, the Pro Bono Lawyers Association and Ms. June Lim, CEO of Eden Law Firm, started the Leaf Project (Empowerment and Legal Support for Foreign Spouses). .

This pilot project aims to provide free assistance to a spouse who is a foreigner who meets certain conditions, for example with a monthly per capita income of S $ 950 or less.

Lawyers Association spokesman Pro Bono said the association decided to start a pilot plan with foreigners with Singaporean children because it is a “vulnerable” group.

They often depend on their partner for all aspects of their life. They may not have anyone to help them in the face of home violence or a broken marriage.

“They face the risk of being repatriated if the partner cancels the visa extension.”

“This problem is especially frustrating when they have Singaporeans, the children will have to leave the country or separate from the mother – often the main caregiver.”

She also said that many foreign wives cannot afford to hire a lawyer. They are also ineligible for legal aid programs because they are not a Singapore citizen or permanent resident.

In addition to divorce and related issues, these wives face the risk of domestic violence, she added.

In many cases, there are many foreign wives who do not have Singaporean friends. So they turn to charities and religious groups to find a native to sponsor their long-term visa.

At the age of 33, Ng Yu Zhi owns a 3-storey villa in a high-end residential area in Singapore and spent more than $ 5 million to buy a supercar Pagani Huayra.

According to the Bloomberg, Singapore prosecutors accuse Ng Yu Zhi of defrauding at least S $ 1 billion ($ 740 million) from many investors through a series of short commodity transactions. Singapore police describe this as one of the biggest investment fraud scandals ever.

The Singapore authorities have yet to disclose sufficient information about Ng and his fraudulent tricks. However, Bloomberg research court records, interview investors, and determine that the 33-year-old trader has raised huge amounts of investment with a pledge of up to 15% quarterly average interest rates.

This interest rate is equivalent to the achievements of the top hedge fund managers in the world.

Invest in many areas

As a Singapore citizen, Ng is allowed to bail after paying S $ 1.5 million ($ 1.1 million) in bail. This teller must wear an electronic surveillance device. Ng’s trial will continue in the coming weeks.

Ng’s past remains a secret. However, this teller has become well known in Singapore’s philanthropic community, supercar players and entrepreneur club in recent years. In August 2020, Ng was honored by Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at National University of Singapore for his contributions in fundraising activities.

Transaction officer Ng Yu Zhi. Photo: PR Newswire.

According to the Straits Times, Singapore authorities confiscated assets worth S $ 100 million ($ 74 million) – including super car Pagani Huayra – of Ng to serve the investigation. A source from the police said the Pagani Huayra is priced at about $ 5.2-5.9 million.

Ng invests in many industries, from commodities, technology startups to Japanese restaurants and veterinary clinics. The fraud allegations against Ng revolved around his transactions at Envy Asset Management and Envy Global Trading. Ng controlled and served as director of these two companies.

Of the more than S $ 1 billion ($ 747 million) poured into these two companies, about S $ 300 million ($ 224 million) was transferred to Ng’s private account, prosecutors alleged. About S $ 200 million ($ 150 million) disappeared without a trace.

To date, Ng’s customers have only received payments totaling S $ 700 million ($ 523 million). However, Ng owed investors S $ 1 billion (US $ 747 million) to investors.

Deceive by short transaction

According to the indictment, Ng raised money from investors to buy nickel from an Australian company called Poseidon Nickel Ltd. However, Ng has never made this transaction. Poseidon CEO Peter Harold asserted that the company has no relationship with Ng or related companies.

In addition, Ng also told investors that he signed multiple contracts with French bank BNP Paribas SA. However, these contracts do not exist at all. BNP does not have an account or transaction history with Ng, Envy Asset Management or Envy Global Trading.

Reply BloombergAn investor of Ng said that he started investing with Ng in 2018. Since then, this investor has never withdraw money because he believes in Ng’s ability to generate profits.

Ng’s list of investors includes fund management company Envysion Wealth Management and Ms. Shim Wai Han – founder of Envysion. The indictment said Ng persuaded Envysion and Ms. Shim to invest $ 35.8 million in virtual nickel investment transactions. “Our goal now is only one, which is to get money back to investors and to ourselves,” Shim said.

Singapore is the center of financial transactions in Asia. Photo: AP.

Neither Ng’s Envy Asset nor Envy Global is licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) because the law does not require that companies investing in physical assets have a license. After Ng’s scandal, MAS put Envy Asset on the warning list. Currently, Envy Asset is no longer active. Ng was removed from his position as chief executive officer of Envy Global last month for a fraud scandal.

Before Ng’s scandal, Singapore was shaken by the financial fraud of the oil business group Hin Leong Trading Ltd. last year.

However, expert Lawrence Loh – director of the Center for Management and Sustainability at the National University of Singapore Business School – said that Singapore government needs to ensure a balance between tightening financial regulations and controls. create favorable conditions to attract investors.

According to the latest list by residence and citizenship consultancy Henley Partners (based in the UK), Japan continues to be the most powerful passporting country in the world. The people of cherry blossom country can go to 193 countries without applying for a visa.

The second place belongs to another Asian country, Singapore. The number of visa-free countries for Singapore passport owners is up to 192. The remaining positions in the top 5 went to Germany, South Korea (same 191) and Finland, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain (190). Ranked 5th are Austria and Denmark with 189 visa-free destinations

Afghanistan ranks bottom of the list of power passports with 26 destinations, followed by Iraq (28) and Syria (29).

Japan tops the list of powerful passports. Photo: Nikkei Asia.

“The disparity in freedom of travel is at its largest level since the arrival of the power passport index in 2006. Japanese passport users can reach more than 167 countries and territories than Afghan citizens,” said Henley Partners representative.

In addition, the company also pointed to China and the UAE as the two countries with the biggest spikes in the rankings. Over the past 10 years, China has risen 22 places, from 90th to 68th. The number of visa-exempt countries for Chinese citizens increased from 40 to 77.

The UAE does even better than that. The country’s passport jumped from 65th to 15th place in the latest rankings. A total of 174 countries exempt visa for people who own UAE passports.

According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the ban on international visitors by a third of the world has made passports no longer as useful as they were before the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Christian H. Kaelin, President of Henley Partners and creator of the passport index, said: “The latest rankings show that economic recovery and development depend on global mobility, including individual freedom of movement.

No one expected the move to return to pre-pandemic times soon. However, we can expect more than we did a few months ago.”
