Samsung has been forced to delay the launch of many products in certain markets due to a lack of chips, a recent source said. The two most affected models are the Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72, two of Samsung’s best-selling phones. The company is having trouble buying chips from Qualcomm, namely the Snapdragon 720G and Snapdragon 750G – two 8nm chips that power Samsung’s mid-range phones and are also used by Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo and Motorola.

Previously, Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72 were expected to launch globally at the end of April. However, it has only appeared in Europe and some other markets, fortunately Vietnam. The Galaxy A series, which is Samsung’s flagship product line, brings huge revenue, but a global chip shortage could have a big impact on this model in the coming quarters. It is currently not clear whether other Samsung product lines or smartphones will be affected. Samsung will soon release a bunch of new devices, including the Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy Z Fold 3, which will most likely also be affected by their launch dates or production.
