That is the affirmation of Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha – Deputy Minister of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs (Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs) at the Ceremony Responding to the Vietnam Day of Disability, held this morning (April 16) in China. Rehabilitation and Support for Children with Disabilities (38 Tu Xuong, District 3, HCMC).
The program also included Mr. Pham Anh Thang, Head of Representative office of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs in Ho Chi Minh City and representatives of sponsors from Vietnam Rubber Industry Group, SamSung Vietnam; Eshuhai Company and representatives of the Labor Confederation of District 3, Ho Chi Minh City. In particular, the program has the presence of 260 disabled children being nurtured and cared for by the Center.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha said that Vietnam is one of the countries that ratified the UN Convention on Persons with Disabilities very early. At the same time, Vietnam has issued many documents and policies to support care for people with disabilities. Up to now, 100% of provinces and cities directly under the Central Government have had facilities and centers operating services to care for the disabled. In particular, in Ho Chi Minh City, there is the Center for Rehabilitation and Support for Children with Disabilities at 38 Tu Xuong, which is also one of the units performing well supportive care services for people with disabilities.

At the show, after seeing the handicrafts of the disabled children on display at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha affirmed that people with disabilities can be completely healthy, can do the what normal healthy people are doing. At the same time, it is suggested that the local authorities and the business community continue to have many resources to support their children in career guidance, vocational training and education to help them reintegrate into the community and their friends. . When they grow up, they will create for themselves a job and stabilize their life.

The Deputy Minister expressed his thanks to the units and businesses that accompany the program

According to data, Vietnam currently has about 6.2 million people with disabilities, accounting for more than 7.06% of the population aged 2 and over, of which people with severe and extremely severe disabilities account for about 28.9%, about 10% of people with disabilities belong to poor households. The above data shows that Vietnam is one of the countries with a high proportion of people with disabilities compared to the total population in the Asia-Pacific region.

Children are being nurtured and cared for by the Center

In recent years, policies and activities to help people with disabilities have also changed fundamentally, moving from charitable assistance to support from a developmental perspective, creating dynamism for people with disabilities. rise. People with disabilities are supported with housing, education, health care, access to traffic and construction works, vocational training, employment, preferential loans to do business and to support livelihoods. .. help people with disabilities take care of themselves as well as make contributions to the community and society.

All these things have brought people with disabilities confidence and self-reliance, and there have been many successful examples of disabled people in the fields of economics, science, politics and social culture.
