The project was designed by Trinhvieta-Architects in a densely populated urban area in Ho Chi Minh City with the desire to create as much space as possible, providing an interesting living atmosphere. The architect’s idea was to rearrange the allowable space by taking two internal spaces from the main block, dividing them into several smaller blocks and attaching them back to make a balcony. In this way, they created an empty space that allows wind and natural light to flow to every nook and cranny of the house while keeping the required space. The house is 5 floors high and consists of 7 rooms, including 2 atrium rooms with private courtyards.

The journey of 500 km of elephants in Yunnan province, China is attracting the attention of the whole country. It is not clear why the herd of elephants moved so far from their original range.
After gaining popularity in the country, the herd of wandering elephants in China is now becoming a star on a global scale.

The world’s major media outlets are simultaneously reporting on the elephants’ more than 500km journey from their habitat in the southwestern mountains of Yunnan to the outskirts of Kunming city. The elephants were filmed on the outskirts of Kunming city. Photo: AP. Rising star Over the past few days, elephants have become famous on China’s Weibo social network. Pictures of sleeping elephants attracted 25,000 posts and 200 million views on the evening of June 7. On Twitter and YouTube, users share cute videos of the elephants, especially the image of two young in the herd slipping into an irrigation ditch and needing the help of two adult elephants. AP . “We should be like these elephants, more family-oriented, take families on vacation, help, care for and protect each other,” said a YouTube comment by the account MrDeterministicchaos. The elephants were monitored via street security cameras as well as dozens of aerial recording drones. The elephants’ journey went unnoticed until May 24, when they entered Ngashan County, Yunnan Province, and caused a stir in the densely populated district. Elephants enter people’s houses, eat corn and other crops. One baby elephant even got drunk after entering the winery. The elephants have scoured some houses and fields. Photo: AP. Herds of elephants scour many farms for food and water. The elephants also went into a car dealership, even “visiting” a nursing home. They poked their trunks in through the window, causing a man to hide under the bed to avoid scaring the elephants. To date, the elephant herd has not caused any damage to people or livestock. However, crop damage is said to be more than $1 million. When they left their home in the mountains of southwestern Yunnan province, the herd numbered 16. However, authorities said the two children had returned. During the migration, a mother elephant gave birth to a young. The elephant herd now consists of 6 males and 3 adult females, 3 young individuals and 3 newborns. It is not clear why the elephants roam The reason the elephants travel such long distances is still a mystery. However, the elephants seem to be particularly attracted to maize, fruit and tropical crops. Some say that the herd of elephants is lost from the leader of the herd. According to Nilanga Jayasinghe, director of the Asian animal conservation program at the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Asian elephants are attached to their habitat. Elephants only leave when there are major disturbances, loss of resources, or a sharp increase in the number of individuals. “In this case, we really don’t know why they left their range. But we do know their habitat has been severely damaged by agriculture, which converts forests into arable land. in that area for the past few decades,” Ms. Jayasinghe said. The WWF expert said that it is likely that the elephants are looking for a new habitat, now they are lost and just keep moving. The reason why the elephants moved away from their original range is still a mystery. Photo: AP. Chinese authorities have actively taken action to avoid negative interactions, but they must soon determine “what to do next, as well as avoid creating conflicts between elephants and people”, Ms. Jayasinghe said. Elephants are one of the most heavily protected species in China, which has helped the country’s elephant population continue to grow steadily despite the continuous shrinking of its natural habitat. Chinese authorities ask people to exercise maximum restraint when encountering elephants. At the place where the elephants pass, people are asked to stay indoors, not to stare at the elephant, not to use fire or any other measures to scare the elephant away. To date, authorities have adopted a variety of passive measures to keep the elephants away from urban areas, such as parking trucks and construction equipment in roadblocks, as well as using food to lure the elephants. By June 8, the elephants were on the outskirts of Kunming city. One of the adult males is separating himself from the herd, which creates both excitement and concern for those who want to continue monitoring the herd. In a statement on June 7, the command center monitoring the elephants said the elephants appeared to be resting. Chinese authorities have mobilized 410 rapid response personnel, police, many motor vehicles, and 14 drones to monitor the elephant herd. People living in the area near where the elephants passed have been evacuated. Temporary traffic control measures have been implemented. Authorities also prepared 2 tons of food for the elephants. One of the goals now is “to keep quiet to create conditions to lead the elephants to migrate west and south,” the command center said. The Asian elephant is the largest land animal in Eurasia. The number of Asian elephant species living in the wild is generally declining, currently only about 50,000 individuals. Habitat destruction, illegal hunting, and anthropogenic impact are the biggest threats to elephant survival. Herd of elephants ‘march’ in the city in China A herd of elephants travels from a tropical forest in Yunnan province (China) into downtown Kunming. They went into a car store and broke into people’s houses to eat 200 kg of corn.

In tropical countries like Vietnam, heat protection for construction works is extremely important.
Along with urban development, the density of construction works and population density is increasing; The heat protection for houses in particular and construction works in general is necessary and urgent. In tropical countries like Vietnam, heat protection for construction works is extremely important.

Solutions against heat Planning solution In the past, our ancestors had a saying: “Get a gentle wife to make a house facing south”. It is a very natural and simple way of planning to avoid the direction that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. The south direction is the direction to catch the cool wind, avoiding the radiation of the sun. Of course it is a folk house in the village-rural structure. Modern urban areas depend on many other factors, so it is not possible to completely choose the direction for the project. This is not to say that the direction is dependent. Where possible, the orientation of the building should be optimized. The Vietnamese standard on heat protection for houses clearly states: “For houses, try to arrange so that the west-east side of the house has the smallest surface area to limit solar radiation”. As with clusters of works or complexes of works, it is necessary to design a reasonable total ground, giving priority to good orientation for mainstream works, works with higher heat resistance requirements such as living and working places. Environmental and ecological solutions This solution is associated with the planning solution. This is also a solution that our ancestors have applied very thoroughly in traditional architecture. Trees, water surface are always indispensable elements, accompanying the architecture. Trees create shade, prevent and cover architectural surfaces from solar radiation. The water surface (pond, lake, aquarium …) and green trees regulate the climate, making the environment cooler and cleaner. Under conditions of unsaturated air humidity, the water surface always has the phenomenon of evaporation. Water evaporation is an endothermic process, so it causes the ambient temperature to drop. Trees and water surface are attached to natural land; All have low emissivity, which are effective factors for overall heat resistance, with a large range of influence. Currently, in many urban areas, the ratio of trees, water surface to construction works is at an alarming rate, plus other areas are concretized at a high level (yard, summer, parking lot). …). The surfaces of these materials have high emissivity, causing the air environment to heat up significantly. Architectural solutions This is considered the broadest and most flexible solution. The architectural solution is the combination of the ground and the building block, the design of a reasonable cover structure to limit the surface exposed to the sun – avoid radiation, or reduce the heat conduction in the material, enhance thermal convection. The basic architectural solutions are as follows: Reasonable ground layout, prioritizing main spaces to avoid contact with sun-catching surfaces; push the extra spaces such as stairs, storage, toilet to that side. Create setbacks, negative spaces such as halls, loggias, technical slots, etc. to avoid solar radiation entering the main space surface. Use side shading structures installed outside the enclosure (walls) to reduce radiation and heat conduction. In traditional folk architecture, many places have a bamboo mat on the veranda. This element has been applied a lot in modern architecture with different forms and different materials. Facade complex with “rigid structures” to block the sun; attached to the bearing structure and cover. Usually it is an umbrella, vertical and horizontal sunshades. In the 70-80s, this type of architecture was very developed – especially in the category of administrative and office buildings. Those designs are carefully studied in terms of architectural physics according to the climate and solar chart of each locality. Build thick walls, box walls (hollow), use insulation materials (hollow bricks, insulation panels, 3D panels, aerated aggregate concrete…) for the covering structure. The door design is reasonable in terms of location and materials. These solutions are all based on the principle of reducing radiation and conduction of heat from the outside. Use heat-resistant materials for roofs such as woven panels, brick holes, corrugated iron roofs (for flat and concrete roofs), use heat-insulated false ceilings (for sloping, tiled roofs). This solution must pay special attention to the problem of ventilation for the air mass between the two roof layers. Reduce the emissivity of the building surface with plants, such as growing vines on the wall, garden design – water surface on the roof. This is a pretty good aesthetic solution, but there are certain changes over time. Organize the premises, design the location and structure the door reasonably; design courtyard, skylight to enhance air convection. The goal is for the hot air to escape up and out, making room for the lower heat mass. Technical solution Air conditioners (Air conditioners): Considered modern, and easy to deploy applications. However, air conditioners also reveal certain disadvantages. First of all, this solution consumes significant energy resources, and affects the environment. According to the principle of thermal balance, to reduce the temperature in the room, it increases the outside temperature by the same amount of heat. Besides, air conditioners are difficult to meet for open spaces, too large spaces. Ventilation: In addition to natural convection, forced ventilation is considered an effective solution to combat heat when natural convection is not effective. Properly designed ventilation systems will contribute to heat resistance, and should be taken advantage of – combined with architectural solutions such as skylights. Spraying water, misting: Misting systems have recently been deployed to many applications, in public spaces such as restaurants, and even houses. Spraying water and mist creates the phenomenon of evaporating water and collecting heat, while enhancing air convection. In addition, the pressure of water spray, mist creates cool air movement (will be discussed in the next section). In addition, homeowners can also use specialized heat-resistant paint for the surface of the building, which is also an effective anti-heat solution.

The company is interested in planting large timber trees. The tropical monsoon climate is a favorable condition for Vietnam to exploit the largest natural wind source in Southeast Asia. With the potential for average wind speeds of more than 10m/s, Vietnam’s territorial waters are in the top 10% of windiest places on the planet. Some wind power plants are rushing to be completed, in parallel with that is promoting afforestation, greening bare hills, bringing more sustainable growth to localities. Energy source to protect the environment Currently, energy generated from fossil fuels accounts for about 67% of the energy supplied to the world, but is polluting the environment with carbon dioxide emissions. Producing wind power with a 20-year-old turbine generates renewable energy (RE), with no carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. According to calculations by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), the potential for wind power installed in Europe by the end of 2007 with a total capacity of 56.5 GW, will avoid the emission of 90 million tons of CO2 to the environment per year. year. This is equivalent to 45 million cars on the road. In addition to being able to cut CO2, wind power also avoids toxic chemical waste such as mercury and other chemicals that pollute the environment. Using wind power will not deplete or destroy natural resources, but also ensure good use of resources from wind potential. According to the United Nations (UN’s Emissions Gap Report 2020), success in managing the transition to green energy will help developing countries take the leap beyond high-emission technologies. CO2, which underpins richer nations. Vietnam with about 97 million people and 6.5-7% GDP growth has seen energy consumption more than double since 2010. Access to reliable, cost-effective energy sources will be a factor. important for sustainable economic growth. Wind Turbine No. 1. Working together for the program “one billion trees” In the orientation and planning of renewable energy development, Nhon Hoi 1 Wind Power Plant and Nhon Hoi 2 Wind Power Plant invested by FICO Binh Dinh Energy Joint Stock Company as an investor are being built at Phuong Mai mountain, area. Nhon Hoi economy, Binh Dinh province. This is one of the areas assessed to have the largest wind power potential in the country. Nhon Hoi 1 Wind Power Plant has a capacity of 30 MW, surveyed, researched and invested on an area of about 175 hectares, with a total investment of more than VND 1,321 billion. Nhon Hoi 2 Wind Power Plant Project has a capacity of 30 MW, surveyed and researched on an area of about 201 hectares, with a total investment of more than 1,249 billion VND. As of May 2021, the factory has basically completed the infrastructure and safe transportation of super-heavy equipment. Compared with other renewable energy sources such as solar power, after installing wind turbines, the area where the wind turbines are located is still used for farming or other agricultural and forestry activities. Mr. Huynh Van Luan, Deputy General Director of FICO Binh Dinh Energy Joint Stock Company, said that the Nhon Hoi Wind Power Plant site is refurbishing the infrastructure and landscape, accelerating the speed of afforestation. The whole project is expected to be completed by the end of August. Due to the steep rocky and windy terrain, Phuong Mai mountain has no large trees, mainly naturally growing low shrubs. The afforestation project of FICO Company invests in afforestation of large timber trees on the entire Phuong Mai mountain, phase 1 of the project to plant 40 hectares of forests will be implemented from April 2021 by Anh Vu Seed Company Limited. Due to the hot season, priority should be given to afforestation in favorable locations first. Plant breeding work and planting site are also actively preparing for mass planting starting from August this year. The selection of plant species must also take into account factors that are suitable for the rocky terrain and harsh sea breezes at Phuong Mai mountain, therefore, the company will research plants suitable for natural conditions, soil, Abundant native trees create lush green forests. Also according to Mr. Huynh Van Luan, afforestation is difficult, care and protection of forests is even more difficult. “In order to implement the project effectively, we have taken into account detailed plans, such as care procedures, pest control, and weed clearance. Particularly for the Phuong Mai mountain afforestation project, the company will prioritize using local workers right from the stage of planting to tending, managing and protecting forests … “, Mr. Luan affirmed.

Following in the footsteps of Miss Nguyen Tran Khanh Van, at the end of this year, Runner-up Kim Duyen going to Costa Rica to participate in the competition Miss Universe 2021. Therefore, recently, the beauty of Can Tho origin has continuously changed her body in a positive direction. After overcoming the pressure of gaining up to 10kg during her stay at home during social distancing last year, runner-up Kim Duyen is gradually regaining her form, redirecting her seductive and sexy image. In order to have the current beautiful body, Kim Duyen had to be active and persistent in going to the gym GYM , every day for 1-2 hours continuously for nearly a year. Kim Duyen said that she mainly practiced exercises on tightening muscles and increasing body flexibility. Currently, the beauty’s body measurements are 88-66-95. Kim Duyen aims to tighten her waist about 64-65cm. Basically, Kim Duyen practices for a firmer and thicker body. Currently, the beauty’s body measurements are 88-66-95. (Photo: CTV/Vietnam+) Many viewers jokingly called Kim Duyen “the big girl.” That is also her goal to get fit for the Miss Universe contest. Kim Duyen shared: “At first it was a bit difficult because Duyen’s body was very difficult to tighten, but fortunately PT came up with a reasonable exercise plan with Duyen’s body. Duyen will tighten the body to reduce the percentage of fat, not reduce the current body shape, along with training to increase muscle groups.” “In every meal, Duyen always focuses on the nutritional composition because this will more or less affect the effectiveness of the exercises,” Kim Duyen said. After becoming the runner-up, Kim Duyen had time to gain 10kg. (Photo: CTV/Vietnam+) The runner-up minimizes the amount of starch in the menu and provides the body with more protein (beef, chicken breast, salmon,…), vitamins, fruits, green vegetables, water and minerals. Essential substances to maintain enough energy for the whole day. According to the beauty, if you practice GYM to lose weight, you should limit eating fatty foods, sweets and carbonated water. She is following nutrition specially designed by PT. Not long ago, Kim Duyen made the audience worried because she lost control over weight gain. However, with the newly released image with a standard “hourglass” figure, the audience can rest assured to represent Vietnam at the 70th Miss Universe coming here. Currently, runner-up Kim Duyen is actively training herself to prepare for new plans and projects, firstly accompanying the Miss Universe Vietnam 2021 contest. /.

If ‘Indochinese architecture’ appeared in many urban areas across the country, tropical architecture in the period 1954-1975 mainly appeared in Saigon. As the only city that has access to foreign economics, science and technology, the architecture here has had the conditions to develop and leave values that need to be affirmed.
There was a time on par with the region

From 1954-1975, Saigon, under the management of the national government at the time, with the social situation had a temporary period of peace, the economy was developed, the urban attraction increased, leading to the urbanization rate. rapidly developing. Since the 1960s, the economy has depended on massive aid from allied capitalist countries, especially the United States. Saigon urban area has the opportunity to develop further. The networks of roads and main roads were expanded and newly built. The population of Saigon at that time was more than three million people and had become a huge metropolis, a population center, a center of employment and a refugee camp. The Library of General Science, designed by architect Nguyen Huu Thien and architect Bui Quang Hanh, completed in 1972, is highly appreciated for its architectural solutions to adapt to hot, humid tropical climates and heavy rains. In the early 1970s, due to the economic investment policy to attract foreign capital, the city’s industry developed strongly, and a series of large-scale enterprises appeared. In parallel with the development of technical infrastructure, traffic, electricity, water; social infrastructure, public works, commerce, services, large residences, buildings, hospitals, universities are invested and developed with higher quality than before. In addition, a large number of highly qualified and numerous scientific and technical workers, technical workers and craftsmen were born. In which, a team of Vietnamese architects trained from many domestic and foreign sources such as France and the US have met the design and construction needs of Saigon. Based on the contemporary socio-economic foundation, construction activities developed together with close exchanges with Western capitalist countries have created conditions for art movements in the world to be imported into Vietnam. freely. In which, the popular international modern architectural style has contributed to changing the appearance of Saigon architecture. This architectural style has begun to gradually replace the cumbersome and restrictive Western classical and neoclassical architectural forms before, making Saigon architecture bring many elements of a modern urban architecture. compared to other countries in Asia at this time. Notably, most of these architectural works are designed and constructed by a team of Vietnamese architects who meet international modern standards. The stylized stilt house standing on the lake and the flower wall on the reading room façade is a reasonable solution. Columns, beams, cantilevered roofs, roofs reaching out from the walls are familiar traditional images . The trend of modern architecture when entering our country has been applied by the architects to suit the local climatic conditions and has formed the style of “tropical modern architecture”. In fact, this style appears almost widely in countries with tropical climates such as Brazil of South America, some South African countries, South Asian countries such as India, Sri Lanka or from Southeast Asian countries. They have the common characteristics of simple shapes, high-rise buildings, reinforced concrete construction materials, aluminum and glass, high functional value, use of detailed structure of couches, sunshades and corridors in accordance with the requirements of the project. humid tropical climate. However, a special feature is that “tropical modern architecture” in Saigon has been skillfully combined by Vietnamese architects between Western modern technical elements and Eastern culture, exploiting the traditional architectural features in the building. The harmony between architecture, people and nature has made these buildings truly worthy contemporary works to be treasured. Tropical features and Saigon nuances Referring to the typical architectural works of this period, it is impossible not to mention the Independence Palace by the architect. Ngo Viet Thu and his associates designed. My colleagues also have an analysis of this work in the same issue, however, I still want to emphasize, this is a work that shows a harmonious combination of Western and Eastern cultural elements. , creating a project with a “tropical modern” style as a monumental highlight at the end of Le Duan street. Independence Palace seen from above. Photo: Zing The facade architecture of the building is divided into three solid – hollow – and solid pieces, which partly repeats the layout of the previous Norodom Palace, however, can also recall the silhouette of the traditional three-room, two-gable house, similar correspond to the functional areas inside. The ground floor is designed with large glass doors to bring trees and water surface into the building as much as possible. The prominent image on the façade is the unique “stone flower curtain”, the author’s name for his work. Because the facade of the building faces East – North, in order to have a lot of natural light and still limit solar radiation, the author has cleverly combined Western technical materials with traditional aesthetic concepts. The tradition creates the image of the curtain, making people think of the images of the shuttle or the bamboo structures, which are symbols of the gentleman in the concept of the Eastern people. They bring a very familiar feeling to Vietnamese people. Inside the flower curtain is a wide and long porch filled with light, reminiscent of a porch in folk architecture. The indoor spaces are created by the author according to the principle of natural ventilation and open space to exploit the surrounding landscape and also to suit the climate here. Even the roof insulation solution is taken care of. The roof has a two-layer floor structure, the bottom is a bearing concrete layer, the top is a heat-resistant knitting sheet placed on a brick pillow 40cm from the floor, it is thanks to the convection air cushion in the middle that should keep the indoor temperature at all times. cool either. At the same time, in the work, some specific materials are used such as washing stone, grinding stone to paint the walls, but there are people who put the Independence Palace in the category of “tropical architecture that creates Saigon’s nuances in the overall design of the city.” Vietnamese contemporary architecture”. In 1972, the construction of the General Science Library designed by architects Nguyen Huu Thien and Bui Quang Hanh was completed. The work is located in a quite favorable position in the city center, opposite the old Gia Long Palace – now the City Revolution Museum – at the corner of Nam Ky Khoi Nghia and Ly Tu Trong streets today. The authors have combined the building block in functionalism by creating two blocks with a clear geometric shape but cleverly arranging them to contrast each other. The horizontal block is the reading room and the vertical block is the bookstore, along with the solid and hollow façade solution to bring unexpected and impressive visual effects. Although this is a tactic that we often encounter in some modern Western works, here the authors have shown the consistency from content to form an architectural solution adapted to the situation. The climate is tropical with lots of sunshine and lots of rain. At the same time, the authors also know how to skillfully combine Western aesthetic elements and traditional Vietnamese elements to create a work with unique nuances. General Science Library Architecture. Photo: Flickr That is the architectural treatment of the facade of the bookstore with solid walls running in the horizontal direction, symbolizing books stacked on top of each other and leaving only small window slots just enough to get light, to Avoid direct sunlight to yellow the documents inside. Or like the image of a stylized stilt house standing on a lake in a cubic layout of the building’s facade, the ground floor floor is raised from the ground to bring a sense of closeness and enjoyment but without losing the grandeur of House. Because the work is facing northwest – southeast, the use of a flower wall on the facade of the reading room block is quite reasonable, both against solar radiation and creating ventilation for the corridors and rooms inside. . Especially here the authors have modernized traditional architectural elements to create decorative motifs that are extremely expressive, bringing great success. The work that makes a strong and unforgettable impression is thanks to this flower wall. The building is no longer a homogeneous box-shaped block, but has used many elements of traditional wooden architecture such as columns, beams, cantilever, roof raced out from the wall, even the familiar bare surfaces of the building. The large wall panels in modern architectural style are also treated with stone materials and decorated with dragon and phoenix reliefs. The shapes and details show that the Vietnameseization as well as the tropicalization of modern architecture at the Library of General Science has reached its peak. University of Medicine and Pharmacy project. Photo: MINH@K It is possible to point out another project, which is the University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Located in a large campus, with a distributed layout but the blocks are linked together by rows of covered corridors on all three floors, so the circulation between functional blocks is quite convenient. It is also thanks to this layout that the building organically connects with the gardens, trees, water surface, weaving in the campus to create a fresh atmosphere, softening the harsh sun of the climate. It also demonstrates the application of the principles of the school of organic architecture that such masters as Frank Lloyd Wright, Alvar Aalto, Richards Neutra have proposed. Although there is a limitation of square shapes, but due to the way of creating a liberal floor plan, due to the flexible solution of space, it has been quite closely combined between the indoor and outdoor spaces. between architectural works and nature in a harmonious and lively manner. The project of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy is a very successful example of a solution against solar radiation. For the east and west facing facades, a vertical and thick slat system combined with the corridor was used. As for the south and north facing sides, the corridor solution is combined with the mixed roof system. The blocks are linked together thanks to the corridors covered with all three floors, so the circulation between the functional blocks is quite convenient and organically connected with the gardens, trees, and the sun. country. This is also a successful work on solutions against solar radiation. For the facades facing east and west, a thick and vertical slat system in combination with the corridor was used. As for the south and north facing sides, the corridor solution is combined with the mixed roof system. Photo: MINH@K In general, the architecture of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy has a high consistency thanks to the use of a wide corridor system solution combined with blue forms, herringbone stairs, whitewashed stone walls that stand out on the green background of trees. All of them create a very typical style of “Saigon tropical architecture”. Although there are only a few typical examples in the overall picture of Saigon urban architecture in the period 1954-1975, it also gives us an idea that Saigon architecture in this period has taken a step forward. outstanding, both adapting to the tropical climate and meeting the needs of the new urban lifestyle of the people here. Whenever mentioning this period, everyone is proud of an architecture with the common name “tropical modernization”, a title favored by many international researchers. With a fairly smooth combination between modernity and ethnicity in architecture, between architectural, climatic and human factors, the works in this period really laid a solid foundation for the the next step of contemporary Vietnamese architecture.

Although the Taiwan Strait possesses more than 90 varieties of pineapples, only a handful of these valuable and popular tropical fruits are favored by farmers.
Pineapple is a sweet and sour fruit native to South American countries such as Brazil and Paraguay and was introduced to the Taiwanese island through mainland China from the Qing Dynasty. In addition, later there are some other varieties of pineapples that were introduced from Hawaii and Southeast Asia during the Japanese occupation of the island.

According to the famous pineapple researcher Kuan Ching-Shan up to now, Taiwan has developed and bred many varieties of pineapple that have both high yield and economic value like the Tainung variety, which has dominated many international markets. Here are some pineapple varieties that are popular in Taiwan. Pineapple yellow diamond Officially named Tainung 17, the golden diamond pineapple is the most grown and exported variety in Taiwan, with “the majority of products being used for both direct consumption and processing”. The factors contributing to the popularity of the yellow diamond pineapple varieties are its delicious quality, high sweetness, less acidity, thin fibers and no burning sensation when eaten directly, Kuan said. In addition, the very thin shell of the yellow diamond pineapple makes it easy to peel. Unlike most pineapple varieties grown in the summer, yellow diamond pineapples are planted in the spring, with an optimal production time from March to June. Pineapple honey curd Officially known as Tainung 13, pineapples are grown in winter, which is said to be very rare because tropical fruits normally require high temperatures to increase sweetness and pineapples are mainly grown in summer to reduce Less sour. Pineapple honey stands out with less pulp, so it is usually less labor intensive to grow and care. Pineapple milk Unlike most pineapples that are yellow in color, the milky pineapple is named Tainung 20 because its flesh has a unique milky white color. The milk pineapple variety is also different from most varieties in that it has smooth leaves and no thorns. The optimal production time of pineapple milk is after May and during the summer. Pineapple sugar apple According to Kuan, the Tainung 4 pineapple variety, also known as the sugar apple pineapple, was once called the “pineapple king export” of Taiwan. The reason it got its name is because the pulp inside of it, after peeling, can be eaten without cutting the eyes, just like eating an apple. However, this pineapple has many thorns on the leaves, so this may be the reason why it is no longer widely grown. Pineapple Cayenne smooth This pineapple variety was first introduced in Taiwan and became the most cultivated variety during Japan’s colonial period, mainly used in processed, canned foods. According to Mr. Kuan, this is a pineapple variety that does not originate from Taiwan. Pineapple fragrant Named Tainung 11, also known as pineapple fragrant because of its strong smell when ripe. With optimal yields from May to June, pineapple varieties do not have thorns, making it easier to grow than other varieties.

MSc Ha Son Tung – Deputy Head of the Department of Tropical Diseases, Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital in Phu Tho province warns, chickenpox is considered a benign disease, but if it is not diagnosed and treated in time and properly, it can so the complications are very serious.
The period of seasonal weather, changing from spring to summer, increases infectious diseases, including chickenpox.

Although the disease is benign, with no severe symptoms other than widespread blister, chickenpox can progress very quickly and cause serious complications if not treated promptly. Little Phan Nhu Q. (3 years old, living in Thanh Son district, Phu Tho) was taken to the Phu Tho Obstetrics Hospital in Phu Tho province with a high fever of 40 degrees C accompanied by chills and crying a lot. Inflammatory burns. Through examination, the child was diagnosed with superinfection with chickenpox and indicated for monitoring sepsis. At the Phu Tho Provincial Obstetric Hospital, children are given 2 antibiotics for systemic injection combined with antiviral drugs. After 6 days of treatment, the child is progressing well, has no fever, plays well, although there are still some burning pus on the skin, but the condition is much more stable. Child Q. is regularly examined and closely monitored at the Phu Tho Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. MSc Ha Son Tung – Deputy Head of the Department of Tropical Diseases, Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital in Phu Tho province, said: Chickenpox is a very contagious disease caused by a virus called Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV). The disease occurs mostly in children, but also many adults suffer from this disease. The onset of the disease is usually sudden, with blisters on the head, face, limbs and trunk. These blisters appear very quickly, within 12 – 24 hours they can appear all over the body, especially when infected with bacteria they will turn cloudy due to pus. In young children, in addition to symptoms of blisters also accompanied by high fever, refusal to eat, fussy or vomiting. Chickenpox is considered a benign disease, but if it is not diagnosed and treated in time and properly, it can cause very serious complications. Not only does it infect the skin at the site of the blister, from where the bacteria can enter the bloodstream, causing sepsis. More seriously, the disease can lead to serious complications such as pneumonia, encephalitis, cerebellum … causing danger to life or leaving sequelae later. The image of infected blisters is cloudy due to pus. The vaccination helps the body make antibodies against the chickenpox virus BS. Tung also said, if pregnant women get chickenpox will be very dangerous. When pregnant women get chickenpox in the first 3 months of pregnancy, the virus will cause miscarriage, or at birth, babies will be congenital chickenpox with many defects such as small head, limb constriction, cerebral palsy, scarring. natural… In case of getting chickenpox in the days of giving birth or after giving birth, the infected child will be very sick with very prominent blisters and easy pneumonia complications. Therefore, Dr. Tung recommends: The vaccination against chickenpox is an effective, highly effective and long-term measure, helping the body to create antibodies against the chickenpox virus. All children 12-18 months of age get one injection; children from 19 months to 13 years old who have never had chickenpox each time will get one injection; Children over 13 years old and adults who have never had chickenpox should be injected 2 times, repeated 4-8 weeks apart. For the cases of chickenpox, absolutely not self-treatment at home, especially not being treated with traditional medicine, traditional medicine, to avoid the unfortunate consequences. >> People can contact for advice, examination and vaccination at Phu Tho Obstetrics Hospital. Address: Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, Nong Trang Ward, City. Viet Tri, Phu Tho Province.
Phone: 0210.655.9999 To proactively prevent chickenpox, the Department of Preventive Medicine, the Ministry of Health recommends people to take some of the following measures:
1. Limit contact with sick people to prevent spreading.
2. Cases of Chickenpox need to be absent from school or work for 7 to 10 days from the time the disease was first discovered to avoid spreading to those around them.
3. Wash your hands often with soap, use separate living utensils, and clean your nose and throat every day with saline water.
4. Regularly clean homes, schools, living objects with common antiseptics.
5. Chickenpox vaccination against children 12 months old.

Cleio Junior, a firefighter at the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Natural Resources, discovered a dead anteater while he was on a fire control mission near the Amazonas state. Photo: Reuters. The above data is based on the research results of MAAP when conducting the analysis of very high resolution satellite images and data, recorded in the territories of all countries in the Amazon Delta, including Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Guyana and Surinam. Accordingly, the Amazon’s primary forest area lost in the past year alone is equivalent to that of the Central American nation of El Salvador. The countries with the most loss of Amazon primary forests in 2020 are Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador, respectively. Still according to the MAAP, more than 65% of deforestation of the entire Amazon region in 2020 was recorded in Brazil. South America’s largest country by acreage has lost a total of 1.5 million hectares of forest in the past year, up more than 13% from the year before. The area of deforestation in Brazil is nearly twice the size of Puerto Rico and is mainly concentrated in the south of the country. Meanwhile, the deforestation area in Bolivia in 2020 amounted to a record 240,000 hectares, mainly due to the fires occurring in the Southeast of the country that destroyed the forests in the ecosystems. Chiquitano and Chaco slices. In the case of Peru, the country lost 190,000 hectares of primary forest last year, up 18% from 2019 and also a record number. The main cause of deforestation in Peru is attributed to the burning of forests for arable land. Since mid-2019, data from the early warning satellite system showed that the deforestation rate in the Amazon rainforest in Brazil tended to increase, to the fastest in a decade. According to the Brazilian Institute of Aerospace Research (INPE), the alarm system recorded forest deforestation in May up to 739 km2. This is higher than the 550 square kilometers recorded in May 2018, and twice as high as the area of forest that was destroyed two years ago. According to the head of INPE, Claudio Almeida, 2019 is a “bad year” for the Amazon. As the country with the most area of Amazon, but Brazil is also the country with the most forest loss in 2018 with nearly 16,187 km2. The main reason is due to deforestation for livestock, soybean cultivation and mining. According to the data of Mapbiomas – a research project on the disappearance of protective forest areas in the Amazon forest, in the last 30 years there has been 953,000 hectares of lost forest including protected areas, lands indigenous and inland lands. It is recognized that this figure is equivalent to 6 times the size of the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil’s largest city and South America. The results of Mapbiomas add that, excluding protection forests, the Amazon forest area destroyed in the past 30 years has reached 39.8 million hectares, equivalent to 19% of the total natural forest area ever existed. in 1985. Satellite imagery also shows that 84% of the lost area of the world’s largest rainforest has become agricultural land, including pastures and pastures. farmyard. In early December 2020, the European Union (EU) envoy to Brazil, Ambassador Ignacio Ybanez said, until Brazil has not committed to preventing deforestation of the Amazon, the Free Trade Agreement between the EU and the South American Common Market (Mercosur) will not be approved by the parliament of the EU member states to come into force. This happens when the world is concerned about the “green lung of the Earth” that is Amazon being burned more and more. The EU Embassy in Brazil mentioned the deforestation of the Amazon and participation in the Paris Agreement on climate change. In fact, the Amazon wildfire is already at an alarming rate. It not only affects a few countries but is also global because it is the largest forest in the world with immeasurable value.

The new coffee variety Coffea Stenophylla has been forgotten for decades and has just been rediscovered. Photo: Reuters. In the dense rainforests of Sierra Leone, scientists have rediscovered a new species of coffee that has not been seen in the wild for decades – a species they think could help secure the future. of valuable items but are being affected by climate change. On April 19, researchers announced that the new coffee species, Coffea stenophylla, was more resistant to temperatures than Arabica (56% of global production) and Robusta (43%). ). Stenophylla has been shown to taste superb, they added, to be similar to Arabica. Botanist Aaron Davis, who led the study, was published in the journal Nature Plants According to the report, the new species of coffee Stenophylla was grown in parts of West Africa and exported to Europe until the early 20th century, and then abandoned after Robusta coffee was popularized. Many farmers around the world coffee belt are experiencing the negative effects of climate change – a pressing concern for a multibillion-dollar industry. The taste of Arabica coffee is considered excellent and offers a higher price than Robusta, which is mainly used for the production of instant and blended coffee. But Arabica coffee is less resistant to climate change. Research has shown that its global output could decline by at least 50% by the middle of this century. Stenophylla grows at an average annual temperature of 24.9 degrees C – 1.9 degrees C higher than Robusta and up to 6.8 degrees C higher than Arabica, the researchers said. . The rediscovery of Stenophylla coffee could help in the “future proof” of the coffee industry that supports the economies of some tropical countries and provides livelihoods for more than 100 million farmers, Mr. Davis – coffee research team leader at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew – said. “The idea is that Stenophylla can be used with minimal domestication, as a high value coffee for farmers in warmer climates,” he said. Stenophylla coffee provided us with an important resource for breeding a new generation of climate-resistant coffee trees, as it has excellent taste and high heat resistance. “If historical reports on the coffee’s resistance to rust (a fungus that ravaged coffee trees in Central and South America – PV) and the coffee plant’s drought tolerance is correct, then it is.” This means that it becomes even more useful to propagate the coffee plant, “Davis added. The study included taste assessments with 18 coffee tasters. Stenophylla has been found to have a complex flavor, with a natural sweetness, a medium high acidity, and a fruity taste when felt in the mouth. In December 2018, Davis and study co-author Jeremy Haggar of the University of Greenwich and coffee developer Daniel Sarmu looked for Stenophylla in nature. Initially, they discovered a single tree in central Sierra Leone. About 140 km (87 miles) southeast of Sierra Leone, they found a healthy population of Stenophylla. “Both sites are rainforest, but Stenophylla tends to appear on drier, more open areas: ridges, steep slopes and rocky areas,” Davis claims. Stenophylla has not been seen in the wild in Sierra Leone since 1954 and anywhere since the 1980s in Ivory Coast, he added. Stenophylla is threatened with extinction amid massive deforestation in three countries where it is known to grow wild: Sierra Leone, Guinea and Ivory Coast, the study’s new study author wrote. Unlike the red and sometimes yellow fruit of Arabica and Robusta, the fruit of the Stenophylla tree is dark black. The coffee beans are inside the fruit. Jeremy Torz, co-founder of Union Hand-Ro Rang Coffee special coffee business in East London, where part of the flavor test took place, said: “I think we are extremely optimistic about the future Stenophylla can bring “.

Forest conservation training in Spain. Photo GEUTREE The shrinking forest area seriously threatens the living environment, when the “green lung” is being destroyed every day. The destruction of nearly 70% of the world’s primary tropical forests has exacerbated climate change and biodiversity loss. Primeval rainforests, which are considered “natural buffers” to prevent climate change, are rapidly disappearing because of devastating human activities. According to the Rainforest Foundation Norway nonprofit, between 2002 and 2019, total forest loss was estimated to be greater than that of France. While another study by the World Resources Institute, on average, every six seconds, the area of forest the equivalent of a football field disappears. The Secretary General of the United Nations, Australia, stressed that every year, the world loses 4.7 million hectares of forests, larger than the area of Denmark. The International Organization for the Conservation of Nature (WWF) data shows that only 29 “hotspots” in South America, Africa and Southeast Asia account for 50% of the total deforestation area. bridge. Unsustainable agriculture is one of the main reasons for the disappearance of green forests. A huge area of forest continues to be destroyed every year, mainly for large-scale agriculture. The biodiversity areas have been cleared for farming and livestock. In addition to the degradation of 30% of the forest, logging and land conversion, mainly for agriculture, have wiped out up to 34% of the world’s primary rainforests, leaving the rest of the forest standing. before the danger of further destruction in the future. Brazil’s Ammon forest has been a region of great pressure in the past decades as agricultural development has exploded. According to research by the Ammonia Geographical Reference Social Information Network (RAISG), about 8% of the world’s largest rainforest was destroyed between 2000 and 2018. Annual deforestation tripled between 2015 and 2018. With about 60% of Ammonia forest located in Brazil, the National Institute of Space Research Brazil (INPE The number of wildfires in this South American country increased by 12.7% in 2020, the highest level in the past decade. After Amonon in South America, the East-South Asian islands, largely in Indonesia, ranked second in deforestation since 2002, with most of the area The forest was cut down for palm oil plantations. Central Africa ranks third, with much of the destruction concentrated around the Congo River basin, due to logging and livestock. Scientists have warned about the implications of deforestation on the habitats of wild fauna and flora. Forests cover one third of the Earth’s land area and are home to 80% of all terrestrial wildlife and fauna. Meanwhile, about 90% of the world’s poorest depend on forest resources. The Secretary General of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) affirmed that forests play an important environmental role and provide essential services to millions of people. Many communities rely on forests for their livelihoods, as well as to ensure vast food security, climate regulation and stabilize the global economy. The dense tropical vegetation acts as the largest carbon reservoir, so the lost forest area is the main factor causing the increase in greenhouse gas emissions, causing the global temperature to heat up. The green forest has called out “cry for help” in the face of being destroyed by human activities. The United Nations and natural environment protection agencies call on the world to have a plan to help harmonize forest protection and wildlife habitat conservation with socio-economic benefits for people. people. Promoting human-appropriate wildlife and forest management models and measures, conservation of forest ecosystems and biodiversity is necessary and urgent.

With the rate of tropical deforestation on Earth accelerating despite slowing global economic growth, a study released on March 30 shows that the area of primary forest is burned or cleared in 2020. area of the Netherlands.

The Amazon forest was cut down in Brazil. Documentary photo: AFP / VNA According to a report based on satellite data by the Global Forest Monitoring Organization, Brazil was the most severely damaged, the area of destroyed forest in the country was 3 times higher than that of the second ranked country, the DRC. . In 2020, up to 4.2 million hectares of primary forest in the tropics will be destroyed, 12% higher than the previous year. Altogether in 2020, the tropical regions will lose 12.2 million hectares of greenery, including forests and tree plantations, mainly due to agricultural activities. Researchers also pointed out that extreme heat and drought have also caused wildfires, burning vast forests in Australia, Siberia and deep in the Amazon region. The author of the report, Ms. Frances Seymour of the World Resources Institute said that these losses reflect a state of emergency in climate. This is not only an ecosystem crisis, but also a humanitarian disaster, loss of economic potential. The study has provided some evidence that the restrictions imposed by countries to prevent the COVID-19 epidemic are also impacting this trend worldwide, as it increases the rate of illegal exploitation due to the forests are no longer protected, or more people have returned to the countryside. The researchers warn that the worst consequences will happen if countries stop protecting forests for economic purposes. However, according to Ms Seymour, the “worst sign” of last year was that forests became victims of climate change, according to which wetlands are still burning. According to research, trees and soils absorb up to 30% more carbon produced by human pollution each year, so the rapid disappearance of tropical forests will result. Uncompensable damage to the Earth’s ecosystem. The researchers emphasize that destroying tropical primeval forests in 2020 will emit 2.64 tons of CO2, the equivalent of India’s annual emissions, or 570 million cars, or twice as much. the emissions of all vehicles circulating in the US. Ms. Seymour warned that the more the world is delaying preventing deforestation, or slowly pushing towards the goal of neutralizing emissions, the more likely it is that natural forests that absorb CO2 on Earth will disappear completely. In Brazil, the government has cut budgets for environmental programs, leaving many Amazon lands to be exploited for resources and agribusiness, resulting in 1.7 million hectares of primary forest being destroyed in 2020. , up 25% from 2019. Meanwhile, the Pantanal tropical wetlands, the paradise of ecosystems stretching from Brazil to Bolivia, also suffered many fires. Bolivia is the country with the third highest deforestation rate in the world in 2020. Indonesia is a bright spot when reducing deforestation rate by 17% compared to 2019 and for the first time in 20 years, it escapes the group of three countries with the highest deforestation rate in the world. Deforestation rate in Indonesia has decreased for 4 consecutive years. Last year wet weather, combined with government policies, had had a long-term positive impact on the destruction of primary forests, researchers say. Forests cover more than 30% of the Earth’s area, while tropical forests are home to 50-90% of all terrestrial creatures. Earlier this week, research published in the journal Nature Ecology & Evolution estimated that growing commodity demand in rich countries is accelerating deforestation in tropical regions. Recent studies have warned that to a certain point, deforestation in the Amazon threatens to change the climate of the entire region, turning tropical forests into savannas.
