From time to time, I come across a strange feeling about Saigon, which is only possible when we are lost in a foreign land. This time when I went to a friend’s newly bought cafe in Gia Dinh park. This is the place where I used to be in the 90s, but now there is almost no familiarity. It was completely strange, so strange that it took me by surprise and immediately reminded me of the feeling I had twenty years ago…

This is the emotion that was engraved in my memory the first time I set foot at Mien Dong bus station. Lost and insecure, precarious as if walking on a bumpy slope. But the emotion in the early 90s of the last century was something full and hot, and this time it was a bit more profound. The only thing that has not changed and has become familiar is the coffee atmosphere that we can easily feel in any coffee shop in Saigon. Although I have settled in Saigon for more than twenty years, half the time in my homeland, there is no Landmark in Saigon that makes me remember much. The things imprinted in my brain are just nameless little things. For example, the General’s shrine is in a certain alley near Saigon station that I can no longer locate. The temple is just an altar in the style of Mr. Dia, located in the most spacious part of the alley. The shrine is modest, but the smoke of incense sticks out all day. Nearby is a toad cafe owned by an alley gang boss. Somehow, I got used to this “brutal” guy. Perhaps the naivety of a teenager from distant Quang Nam touched his heart? No, the reason is from the shrine. He told me that the General was “outside” everywhere. A few years ago, his junior brought back an old bag. It claimed “stealing” from an old man outside the station. Inside were only a few old clothes, a tin box containing a strange black powder. When he was depressed, another kid running from the station said that the old man was rolling around crying near death on the platform, his head was covered with blood. In the end, the senior had to go to the place to witness the incident and understand everything. That tin box contained something very sacred: remains. That old man was a son from Quang Nam who went to collect his father’s bones to bring back to his hometown and then it happened as we know it. The brothers and sisters forced the junior to return the bag and especially the tin box to the old man, but he claimed that it had already been spilled. The little black powder in the tin box was thrown down the alley, right where the General’s shrine is now. The junior thought for a while and then jumped out near the canal. After a while it brought back a pile of black soil… When the old man received his bag back, and especially when he saw that the tin box was still intact, he was as happy as if he had caught gold. As for the brothers and sisters, they found the altar and placed it right where the junior had dropped the bones. Since then, the temple has been taken care of by the whole gang, and smoked fruit incense all day. The General was also tolerant when he didn’t blame the people who pulled vertically, but also occasionally hit a few numbers. And he became famous from there. I once dared to ask “your hand” why did you call the General? “Hands and sisters” explained that to win such a lottery, it must be done by the General. The General’s Shrine and your coffee shop toads are what make me picture Saigon most vividly, in a way that nothing in this land can replace. Then there are so many places I have been, the roads I have walked, until now, I can no longer imagine. But the feeling they give me is still intact. A coffee shop toad disappeared somewhere under the floor of a building. An attractive road leading to Long An in the past, has now been replaced by a luxurious and busy urban area. Then Binh Dong wharf, which contains the development history of this land, now who has the strength to recall? But one thing that never dies is the emotion they sow in our brains. Saigon will forever be there no matter how many conspiracies across this land. For one thing, those who come first or come late, come in a friendly attitude or steal, will sooner or later be tamed by this land. As well as the very familiar coffee atmosphere that I encountered even in a strange place. We will remember the roads we have walked, and we will also remember the roads we have never walked. The emotion that Saigon sows in the souls of predestined people is immortal.

April 2021. Another talented person left the temporary realm, a leaf that had not been dyed all the yellow color fell off the branch when outside the spring still lingering on the cool purple oval flowers, the crocodile fragments sprinkled like chalk on the ground. ..

Poet and screenwriter Hoang Nhuan Cam This time the person who left was him – a person who was both distant and close: the poet – “Hoa Lua doctor” Hoang Nhuan Cam. Speaking Hoang Nhuan Cam is far away because we used to study in the same language class, course 20, Hanoi University (now University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi National University) but since graduating I have never seen you again. Occasionally, through poet Tran Ngoc Tuan, I hear a glimpse of Hoang Nhuan Cam, still talented and still … eccentric, different. Just that, and … over. You are like the star in my blind memory, every day farther and farther … Speaking Hoang Nhuan Cam is close because as soon as I heard the news of his death, so many memories of the poet with unique personality suddenly flooded back, as clear as day, as I could hold … At the end of 1975, class 20 of the Faculty of Literature, we welcomed poet Hoang Nhuan Cam from the battlefield and returned to the school. Soon, for some reason, he switched to another class. A young twenty-five year old boy, a pregnant face with prominent black moles, a cheeky handsome look. He is the author of the book of poems Twenty years old printed with martyr Vu Dinh Van. Literature sessions organized reading poetry, not only students of literature class, but also other classes sitting around the outside of the hall, many people with no seats left, swinging outside the window. With his Hanoi standard voice when melodious, when cooing, when resounding loud and rare expressions of eyes and faces, Hoang Nhuan Cam passionately read poems composed by himself: Army soldier and shouting music, Poems written for the sun, Age of twenties, The first leaf … Up to now, I have not heard anyone read such fascinating poems as Hoang Nhuan Cam. When he read poetry, he almost drained his guts, as if there were only him and poetry in the world. Poem Twenty years old by Hoang Nhuan Cam, there are very strange questions: Blue sky color confession . Her hair flew indifferently … Love the smell of hay. Sleep silently in the ground … Honestly, not all of our brother’s verses understand the profound meaning of it. But after all, poetry is to feel, no need to express, to discern right and wrong. Hoang Nhuan Cam is talented, always appearing with a thin, fragile appearance, clothes, hair and hair … an artist, of course, is admired by many female students. As for him, he always loves her, regardless of her, and for his own reasons … let go. We know some of your “hard-to-get” romances. Still a “virgin” but he fell in love with a dancer from the battlefield, divorced his husband, soon after he fell in love with a beautiful girl, because of her that wrote a poem. Phuong that . He often does not copy songs, because he has to let his soul into poetry. One day when my class came downstairs after school, just in time for his class to go up, Hoang Nhuan Cam shouted: “Get out of the way. Stay away. No, I’ll just… kiss one now, ”making the girls squeal, drifting away. During the exam season, he often ran down to my class, scratched his hair, and begged: “D. Oh, let me borrow a book of Western literature, or else my life will be a hit ”. Unable to borrow the notebook, he ran to another girl: “X. oh Lend me a book of Chinese literature, or else my life will be a waste ”. We nagged, did not lend him, but after that, Hoang Nhuan Cam still passed a good exam without having to go out or squash … Poet, screenwriter Hoang Nhuan Cam and four young actors in the movie The smell of fire Mischievous, daring, sometimes apathetic and difficult to talk about, but it can be said that Hoang Nhuan Cam is a poet from his own eggs, that is due to a genetic gene he inherited from his father: musician Hoang Giac. Students who do not like his beautiful, dreamy “teenage” verses: There is a Snow White girl. Besides, the seven dwarfs are very annoying (The first leaf). His poems have sparked in our hearts a fire yearning for beauty, feeling more in love, loving people and wanting to commit to do something good for life. Later, he tasted many poetic bitter flavors of Hoang Nhuan Cam gradually became deep, thoughtful, even sad, evident in the last book of poems. Fall dice. At this time, life for him is no longer bright, but like a six-sided dice, every side is difficult, thunderstorms: Fall dice in the grass. His eyes look at the six faces of the storm (Fall Dice). Poem The demining man’s words were sacrificed has made many poetic friends shed tears because of touching the compassionate domain that exists in each person: Mom before I say goodbye. I could not see where I was lying. I just remember behind the bang. Still kneeling before her mother, before the moon … End of poetry writing, turning to film script, Hoang Nhuan Cam continued to explode with famous films: Winter 1946, Long Tri Night, The smell of burning grass … Now, Hoang Nhuan Cam’s fall dice have led him to leave the temporary realm. But to me, for those who love Hoang Nhuan Cam poetry and appreciate his talent, the poet seems to have just gone somewhere, and will come back …

Ta Ma stream in Ha Ri village, Vinh Thanh district, Binh Dinh province was suddenly known by everyone because of the blooming forest flowers. According to the local people, this is the one time the flowers bloom in unison, highlighting an area over the past decades. Along with the wild beauty of the mountains and forests, there is a clear stream preserved by the Bana community, so this place still retains its inherent beauty.
From Vinh Thanh town center, we move about 5km to Ha Ri village. From here, take another 15 minutes ride on the inter-communal concrete route to Ta Ma stream.

Ta Ma Stream has warm water, not as cool as other streams, the water flowing under the ancient trees shading colorful flowers. The stream is clear all year round, gurgling through each large and small rock.

The colors of the flowers light up in the sky. Photo: Le Hong Son

Around the beginning of March every year, the forest flowers begin to bloom. However, according to local people, this year is the first time, hundreds of ancient forest sites growing naturally on the Ta Ma stream longer than 1km in length bloom in unison, highlighting the whole area during the past decades .

Photo: Le Hong Son

The old trees in the forest bloomed blocks of yellow, orange, and red flowers, covering the whole stream. The flowers sway in the wind, creating a poetic scene. The large and flat rocks are chosen by many tourists as a place to stop for taking photos and capturing beautiful moments.

The forest pages are in full bloom. Photo: Le Hong Son

According to local people, the trees here are hundreds of years old. Photo: Le Hong Son

The flowers are intertwined. Photo: Le Hong Son

The number of visitors pouring in is very large, especially on weekends, so you can consider coming here on weekdays. This place is completely in harmony with the course so there will be no changing rooms, so you should be proactive about this.

The road must cross the suspension bridge, there is a broken wire so you should pay attention not to stand on the suspension bridge when crowded. Photo: Dinh Hung

The Bana community contributes greatly in preserving the original beauty of this place. Photo: Fanpage Suoi Ta Ma

However, due to the sudden increase in the number of tourists, the landscape here is being affected. Quite a lot of tourists are not conscious, littering indiscriminately, setting fire to roast food near the tree stumps, causing the fire to catch fire, causing fire to stem, branches and flowers.

Beautiful scene, clear water, spoiled for taking pictures. After eating, remember to clean up the trash you brought up! The forest gives us a beautiful view, “take nothing away but photos, leave nothing but footprints”.
