Raw material for batteries Is nickel still in short supply?

Status: 15.06.2021 3:55 p.m.

First a lack of chips, then a lack of wood, soon a lack of nickel? E-mobility also devours resources. Due to the increasing demand for batteries, the demand for nickel is likely to increase strongly. The sufficient supply of the metal nickel could become critical in the next few years. The German Raw Materials Agency (DERA) warns of this in a current analysis. The background to this is the increasing demand generated by the turnaround towards electromobility. “We assume that, depending on the scenario, global nickel demand will increase from around 2.4 million tons today to around 3.4 million tons in 2025,” explains Dr. Michael Szurlies, nickel expert at the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR). “Overall, the nickel market is facing a turning point in terms of demand in the coming years, which will lead to a significant shift in market shares within the areas of application.” As a special department of the BGR, DERA advises the federal government, business and NGOs on raw material issues, for example on security of supply and the ecological consequences.

State of battery research The concentrated load The battery does a good job in everyday life.

Nickel is used for batteries

So far, nickel has mainly been used in steel production: around 85 percent is currently used in the manufacture of stainless steel and alloys, as DERA writes. The use in batteries currently accounts for around five percent. That will change in the near future. Because nickel is now a “key raw material” for the transport and energy transition, according to the study. Due to the strong demand generated by the global expansion of electromobility, the experts expect that by 2025, depending on the scenario, the share could be up to 21 percent. This would make batteries the second largest area of application.

    07.03.2021

New procedure under test Battery raw material from mine water Many elements are dissolved in mine water from old mining tunnels, including lithium.

Most of the nickel comes from Indonesia

Indonesia is the world’s largest supplier of nickel. The experts write that the vast majority of the new global production and refining capacities for the metal are expected there by 2025. This leads to a significant increase in the market concentration for nickel – and also has the consequence that the power of the main suppliers increases. Whether prices can also be expected to rise in the future due to rising demand depends on whether supply also increases. It is not excluded. In order to reduce the dependency on international suppliers, consideration is being given to extracting important raw materials – including nickel – in Europe. Experts emphasize that a European supply chain could make economic sense. In January, Peter Buchholz, head of DERA, said it would be good if Europe also built up its own capacities. The projects just have to be cost-competitive.

   background 10/27/2010

Debate about resource crunch Why rare earths are so important Efficient energy-saving lamps, wear-resistant car tires, powerful electric motors – just three examples from our everyday lives.

Recycling is becoming more important

The automotive industry in particular, but also machine builders with a focus on solar or wind power, steel manufacturers or the IT and medical technology industries are dependent on a continuous supply of basic materials such as nickel. This also applies to so-called rare earths – elements such as cobalt or lithium, which is usually the central raw material for batteries in pure electric drives. The authors of the study also have the issue of sustainability in mind: “In view of the goal of reducing emissions of climate-damaging carbon dioxide through electromobility, in future, apart from questions of availability, the most environmentally friendly and sustainable extraction and processing of nickel will be more important.” One has to ask how more nickel and nickel compounds can be recovered at the end of the life cycle of the products and how less environmentally harmful and at the same time more socially fair promotion can be achieved. On the one hand, there are technological developments towards greater efficiency and fewer emissions. On the other hand, the increasing mining in tropical regions is a problem due to the large amount of land required.

Progress on many construction sites in Germany is sluggish these days. There is a lack of wood, steel, insulation material – and in the near future there may even be a lack of screws.

The growing shortage of building materials has worsened over the past month. According to a survey by the Ifo Institute, 43.9 percent of the companies in building construction reported that they had problems procuring building materials on time. That was twice as many as in April, when only 23.9 of the companies complained of such problems. Civil engineering was slightly less affected, with 33.5 percent in May. In April only 11.5 percent of the companies reported bottlenecks there. “Capacity utilization in the industry is still high,” said Ifo expert Felix Leiss. But more and more companies are worried about the delivery bottlenecks. ” In addition, there are rapidly rising raw material prices. “The prices for sawn timber have almost exploded in the last few months, the sawmills cannot keep up,” said Leiss. Steel has also become considerably more expensive. Insulation materials and various plastics are also in short supply.

Warning of “unprecedented chaos”

Screw manufacturers also fear bottlenecks. The high capacity utilization, raw material bottlenecks and logistics problems have already plunged the international supply chains into “unprecedented chaos”, said Volker Lederer, chairman of the Association of Screws Wholesale (FDS) to the “Handelsblatt”. If the European Union now also levied additional tariffs on the import of iron and steel fasteners from China, it would “conjure up the perfect storm,” warned Lederer. The EU Commission is currently examining whether to impose anti-dumping duties on suppliers from the People’s Republic. The authorities want to announce by June 22nd whether they will impose temporary punitive tariffs. Lederer warns against making it more difficult for Chinese producers to deliver to Europe: “In order to avoid production line failures in Europe, the domestic economy needs the capacities of the entire Asian procurement market – including China.”

The order situation is still stable

The construction industry is following developments critically, but has not yet suffered any losses in orders. “We have a stable order situation,” said Stephan Rabe from the Main Association of the German Construction Industry (HDB) to the Reuters news agency. In March, the companies reported a record order backlog of 62 billion euros. “The pipeline is full, the companies are working very well.” So far, the association expects sales to stagnate this year. “If the impairments persist beyond the middle of the year, the shortage of materials increases, entire construction sites have to be closed and the prices asked continue to rise, then this will have a negative impact,” said Rabe. Then the sales forecast could not be kept. The problems caused by supply bottlenecks have also widened in German industry as a whole. “Almost four out of five manufacturers now report longer lead times for their raw materials,” said IHS Markit economist Phil Smith, which surveys hundreds of managers every month. A growing number of companies complained about negative consequences for production and new business as a result of the forced downtimes.

The 300 billion dong gold-plated castle of the “rubbish giant” in Hanoi

Referring to the famous gilded castles in Vietnam, it is impossible not to mention the golden chicken castle of the “iron” giant Thanh. The castle is located on the banks of To Lich River near Hoang Quoc Viet Street (Cau Giay District) with an area of about 400m2, built 5 floors high, designed like ancient castles abroad. The walls of the building are decorated with elaborate motifs. In particular, on the roof of the castle are 6 large gold-plated chickens worth about 20 billion VND. The interior of the golden chicken castle is in classic European style, with two main tones of brown and yellow with many details inlaid with gold. The “unique” house inlaid with gold in the heart of Tay Do A few months ago, a house in Ninh Kieu district (Can Tho) caused a stir when it was inlaid with gold from the outside to the inside, even the entire house was inlaid with gold by the owner. All items in the house are gilded by the owner. The owner of this unique house is Mr. Nguyen Van Trung, a famous tycoon in the field of real estate in Can Tho. Mr. Trung said that he was very impressed with the house decoration style, the interior is in gold-plated tones, so he has cherished building a house inlaid with gold for a long time. It was not until 6 years ago that he started to build this house and it took 3 years to complete. The house is designed on a ground floor and two floors, with lavishly decorated and overwhelming interiors. The golden villa of the giants of Vung Tau In December 2020, Ba Ria – Vung Tau police arrested Mr. Le Thai Thien (55 years old, living in Phu My town) to clarify the behavior of high interest loans and money laundering. The incident caused a stir in public opinion about this giant’s magnificent gold-plated villa on an area of more than 3,000 m2, located prominently in front of National Highway 51, passing through Phu My town. From the outside, the villa is as bright as gold, but according to Mr. Thien’s explanation to the previous press, the outside of the villa is only painted in yellow, only the interior details are covered with 24k gold. , including ceilings, walls and some other details. The castle inlaid with 1,500 billion gold of the giants of Ninh Binh The castle named Thanh Thang is owned by Mr. Do Van Tien (52 years old) – a businessman in Ninh Binh – business in the field of cement production. The building is located on National Highway 1A, passing through Gia Vien district (Ninh Binh). The project was built with a total cost of up to 1,500 billion VND. The castle was built in the European Royal style with a total area of more than 14,000m2. The work is inspired by St. Peter’s Church and works in the Vatican (Italy) combined with some pure Vietnamese details and the owner’s preferences. The interior of the castle is designed in a classical European style, with dark arched domes, high ceilings, and spaciously divided rooms. In the center of the building, the embossed details on the ceiling are all gilded. The garden house inlaid with 24k gold of the giant Hai Duong The house of giant Nguyen Van Thanh (Hai Duong) stands out with European neoclassical design style, especially, the interior of the house is plated with luxurious 24k gold. According to the disclosure of the owner, the total area of the entire project, including the house, the warehouse area, the garage and the garden is 675 m2. In which, the residential part is 160 m2 with 2.5 floors for the whole family to live. To have the present appearance, the house had to go through 2 phases of construction, repair and completion with a total cost of 26.6 billion VND, equivalent to 1.1 million USD. From the outside, the house looks like a garden villa, but entering the house, any guest must be overwhelmed by the decorative motifs inlaid with 24k gold. In the corners of the walls, or on the ceiling are gilded from pure gold leaves. The owner of the house revealed that, in order to synchronize with the design of the house, all furniture and decorations were ordered from abroad or designed in accordance with European style. There are furniture items worth nearly a billion dong, such as a 24k gold-plated chandelier set at 930 million dong, or a set of tables and chairs in the living room that also costs nearly 1 billion dong.

Due to the negative effects from the Covid-19 epidemic, the difficult transportation caused the price of raw materials for production of the wood industry to skyrocket. Before this fact, consumers are gradually changing their psychology to use cheaper products, simple interior wood designs, in order to reduce construction and installation costs. Therefore, many businesses are reluctant to reduce the price of finished products.

Trends in furniture design favor simplicity and versatility in order to reduce costs during the epidemic period. Changing shopping needs
Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, residing at lane 133 Thinh Liet (Hoang Mai, Hanoi) said that his family had just bought an apartment in Tan Mai street (Hoang Mai) and was installing it. furniture. However, due to the decrease in income during the Covid-19 epidemic, his family prioritizes moderate-priced wood materials, from 700,000 to 800,000 VND/m2 to build beds, tables and chairs, and floors. For other furniture, such as TV shelves, wardrobes, and kitchen cabinets, preference is given to industrial wood with prices ranging from 400,000 to 500,000 VND/m2. “Wood is still the most popular product when it comes to interior finishing, but with the current epidemic situation, my income has decreased, so I have to use affordable products. In fact, cheaper products do not mean that they will break quickly during use. If the elements are not moldy, waterproof, etc., it will still prolong the life of the furniture. In addition, using affordable products when you want to change the design is also less expensive, “- Mr. Nguyen Van Binh shared.
Currently, most people do not want or cannot afford to install high-class wood products, instead switching to industrial wood product lines, such as MDF, Veneer, and MFC. .., has a lower price, but not much inferior in terms of design, usability, even somewhat superior in form. According to General Director of Tam Phat Fine Art Wood Company, Pham Quoc Truong, the affordable industrial wood product line is the preferred choice by consumers, not only at the “softer” price compared to natural wood. , but also in line with the tastes of today’s youth. “Industrial wood is simple but still brings sophistication in design, easy to use, easy to clean. This is the advantage that helps industrial wood furniture to compete fairly with natural wood” – Mr. Pham Quoc Truong acknowledged.
Simple design choices
Mr. Hoang Van Thuy, owner of Thuy Ha furniture factory, Lien Ha commune (Dong Anh, Hanoi) said that currently, wooden products used for interior decoration on the market have a variety of designs. price. Wood material not only brings elegance and aesthetics, but when designed, it is easy to combine with items in many different spaces. Therefore, wood materials are always preferred by people.
Accordingly, sophisticated patterns and motifs are replaced with less cumbersome, monochromatic shapes, suitable for young families, townhouses or apartments. In addition to meeting the requirement of simplicity, due to limited living space in urban areas, consumers want to use multi-functional, integrated furniture, for example, kitchen cabinets with many drawers, rotating cabinets. or slide to hold multiple items. In addition to simplicity and versatility, smart furniture also plays an increasingly important role in living space in urban areas to optimize the area of the house. For example, combining the use of a wooden table with a bed with many drawers, the foot of the stairs combined with a shelf… The arrangement of utilities near each other helps the house space to add more space, people can more opportunities to enjoy the benefits of 4.0 technology. With the change in tastes, along with the tight spending mentality during the current epidemic period, consumers are tending to use wood products with simple designs and multi-purpose furniture.

Because of his strong love for wood, the owner decided to renovate, making every corner of the house have the appearance of this material. The owner of the house. “ The first thing we did was tear down all the windows and doors. What causes whiteheads to grow?

Illustration. Whiteheads are whiteheads, often located deep under the pores, and when they get old, they will harden. Whiteheads are painless on the surface of the skin but cause the skin to become rough, losing its aesthetics. If not treated properly, whiteheads can become inflamed and spread more widely. The cause of whiteheads is due to the accumulation of sebum, dirt and dead cells on the skin that clog pores. This allows pimples to develop, be it pustules, blackheads or whiteheads. In addition, whiteheads also appear due to hormonal changes during menstruation, pregnancy, menopause or genetic factors or poor skin hygiene. Lemonade Lemon juice not only helps lighten dark circles around the eyes and fades blemishes caused by acne, but it is also very effective in removing whiteheads. The ingredients in lemon juice help to limit the natural oils produced by the skin to moisturize the skin, making pores less clogged and inflamed. Just use a cotton ball dipped in fresh lemon juice and then absorb evenly on the whiteheads affected area, the acne will be loosened and pushed out easily, and at the same time help to alkaline the skin, make the face. smooth, not glossy, always clean. Raw potatoes One of the ways to soften skin and treat whiteheads effectively is to use thin slices of potatoes to gently exfoliate dead cells. Refrigerate these potato slices, helping to enhance the skin’s softening ability, repel whiteheads without irritating the skin. Potatoes also have the ability to even out skin color. If used regularly, you will have smooth, flawless skin, and confidently show off your bare face.

The wood stove in a 5-storey house in the middle of Hoan Kiem district (Hanoi) recalls the childhood memories of many people. However, some people are concerned about the safety level when placing the kitchen in a house in the middle of the street.
Sharing on a Facebook group, Mai Vuong said that she was born and raised in the countryside, so the image of a wood stove is very familiar to her. The dishes are cooked with wood stoves, “extraordinarily delicious” to her. If many people are afraid of the smell of smoke coming into their clothes, she likes that special scent.

The wood stove in the corner of the 5th floor of Ms. Mai Vuong’s family. In the photo, Ms. Vuong’s mother is wrapping banh chung for Tet. At first, the idea of building a wood stove on the 5th floor of Ms. Vuong was opposed by her husband for fear of fire and explosion, causing heat to pour downstairs … But after hearing her persuasion, Ms. Vuong’s husband – an architect, Find out reasonable solutions for the wood stove on the 5th floor of the house. The kitchen was built with refractory bricks by the family, built away from the wall, creating an open slot to reduce the heat of the oven. Kitchen smoke is led up to the roof through a chimney 1m away from the roof. The stove is in a fixed area, the firewood is kept in a separate area to avoid the ashes scattered on flammable items. At the same time, the whole house is equipped with a smoke alarm system, each floor is equipped with a fire extinguisher. The 5th floor area of Ms. Vuong’s family is also a space with an open side, instead of being enclosed in 4 walls. Here, in addition to the wood stove, she also sets a dining table, grows flowers for family and friends to eat, drink tea, and chat with. On the Facebook group, the AHN account said: “My family is okay, but it’s too dangerous for the surrounding houses if anything happens. My house cooks from itself, the electric system switches itself off and cooks at night. After that, you have to unplug all the wires from the socket “. “The front of the house is empty space, there is no house behind the house with 5 floors”, Ms. Vuong explained before the ideas that the kitchen could endanger the surrounding community. The wood stove is located on the 5th floor with open space. After building a kitchen, she returned to her hometown to buy galangal, rice husks, peanut shells, and collect longan firewood from her garden for fuel. The old cast iron pots in the past were also “spared” to Hanoi to cook rice. “I really like the kitchen up here, so every time I have time I go to the 5th floor to cook for family and friends to come and play. I make all the dishes every day from the kitchen, from cooking rice to fish storage, boiling meat, baking dishes … There are rustic dishes that only wood cookers can do, also my friends come to play at home. For example, burnt rice from a cast iron pot, ”shared Ms. Vuong. Thanks to the wood stove, last Tet, her family was able to cook 4 pots of banh chung. From fried beef … … until fried beans are cooked on a wood stove. The kitchen is built of flame retardant material. The wood stove of Ms. Vuong after sharing on Facebook received many compliments and expressed her excitement. There are also many opinions that the wood stove only satisfies the taste of the country for a moment, but it entails many other inconveniences in cleaning the pots, smoke in the eyes, hot when cooking in the summer, especially. especially the risk of fire and explosion. However, for someone who likes country feeling like Vuong, those shortcomings can be completely overcome. “To me, cooking with wood stove is very relaxing and enjoyable” – Ms. Vuong said.

Huangshan Mountain in Anhui has beautiful scenery and rich cultural history. It has always been a popular tourist destination. Tourists who come to Yixian County, of course, must go to Xidi Hongcun, a world cultural heritage site. There is Lu Village near Hongcun, which is not inferior but very low-key. When rape blossoms are in full bloom in March in Yangchun, this ancient Anhui village in a sea of flowers is unspeakably beautiful, and what is even more attractive is the village’s wooden carved buildings and the story of the richest man Lu Wanwan and his wife Liufang.

Anhui villages in a sea of rapeseed flowers When you come to Lu Village, you have to go to the observation deck on the hillside. It is high and far-sighted and has a wide view. It is the best viewpoint overlooking the panoramic view of Lu Village. Lu Village in spring is surrounded by patches of golden rapeseed flowers, scattered houses, scattered trees and distant mountains together form a harmonious and wonderful picture. From the viewing platform, a straight avenue leads directly to Lu Village. The green tea gardens and golden rape blossoms on both sides of the road enrich the color of the picture and show an idyllic painting in front of us. Before entering the village, the scenery at the entrance of the village has been let out. We are drunk. Quiet mountain village with a long history and many talents Lu Village is also known as Pheasant Mountain Village, and most of the village is the Lu family. The Lu family originally lived in the north and moved here during the Southern Tang Dynasty. It has a history of more than 1,300 years. The ancestor of the Lu family, “Lu Xuan”, is a descendant of “Lu Wan”, the founding hero in the early Han Dynasty. According to the “Genealogy of Lu’s Family in Pheasant Mountain, Yixian County”, Lu’s family is homologous to Jiang’s family. Lu’s family was first named to Qi by the Taigong, and his descendant Jiang Gao had eaten at Lu due to the war. As the last name. The villagers of Lu were simple and honest, respected culture and education, and celebrities emerged in large numbers. During the Northern Song Dynasty, Lu was reserved as an official book in the Ministry of Etiquette. For his excellent writing style, Emperor Taizong praised him: “modification and polish, consecration and thought, extremely glorious for a while.” After passing the avenue at the entrance of the village and crossing the small bridge, we walked into Lu Village. The stone bridge at the entrance of the village is called Siche Bridge and was built in the Song Dynasty. At that time, Lu Cun came out of a figure named Lu Chenzhong, and Song Gaozong gave him a special gift to advise the doctor. He compared him with Qu Yuan, saying that he was “not a group of clean, quiet and defensive, self-reliable, and good at hearing.” . In order to show the nobility of the Lu family, the bridge was named after a carriage that is not allowed to ride by non-nobles, hence the name Siche Bridge. Unlike Hongcun, which is full of tourists nearby, Lucun has no hustle and bustle and business atmosphere, which makes it more peaceful and peaceful. Tourism development does not seem to have much impact on this place. Except for a little more inn and restaurants, it is not much different from other villages. The people in the village are still living their lives as before, and the ancient village appears to be more life-like. There are two streams passing by in Lu Village. The stream in the west of the village is called Xiamen River, and the stream in the east of the village is called Qianjie River. It flows to the south of the village and forms the Fengzhan River. There is an artificially built water canal in the village, which traverses the village from the Xiamen River, winding and flowing. Along the stream, there are Hui-style dwellings built by the water, and on the water side, there are many open open spaces. The corridor provides a space for sunshade and rain. Lu Wanwan Mansion, the first floor of Chinese wood carving Speaking of Lu Village, I have to mention another important person in Lu Village. This is the fourth-ranked courtroom doctor Lu Bangxie who was called “Lu Wanwan” during the Daoguang Period of the Qing Dynasty. In his early years of business, Lu Bangxie accumulated a lot of wealth due to his extensive contacts and good management. He laid a solid foundation for his later career as an official. After turning into official career, his journey went smoothly. After gaining both fame and fortune, he bought houses and properties in his hometown, and the homes of Zhichengtang, Siqitang, and Sichengtang are still intact. Lu Wanwan not only has great experience in being an official and business person, but also has a great pursuit of elegant art and culture. He invited famous woodcarving, brick carving and stone carving masters at that time to decorate the house. Among them, wood carving art ranks first among Huizhou’s three carvings (wood carving, brick carving, stone carving), surpassing brick carving and stone carving in terms of the maturity of the craftsmanship and the quality. There are many types of wood carving techniques here, such as shallow carving, deep carving, and hollow carving, with as many as six or seven levels of deep carving. Its exquisite craftsmanship, superb standards, vivid image, and profound meaning are breathtaking. It can be called a museum of carving art and is known as “the first floor of Chinese woodcarving.” Jinwu Cangjiao, which wife Liufang is your favorite? It is said that Lu Wanwan married a total of six wives and concubines, and gave birth to 8 sons, 16 daughters, and 24 children in total. One important reason he built Zhicheng Hall, Siji Hall, Sicheng Hall and Shuangcha Hall was Jinwu Cangjiao. So which of the six wives and concubines is Lu Wanwan’s favorite? With questions, we searched for answers among the woodcarving buildings. The most typical Lu Cun Wood Carving Building is Zhicheng Hall, which is the place where Lu Wanwan’s big room and the second room shared. Entering the main hall of Zhicheng Hall, the walls of the hall, around the patio, beams, pillars, doors and windows are all exquisite wood carvings, and each pattern is a classic story. Twenty-four filial piety, Buddhism and Taoism allusions, myths and legends, and even novels of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms are vividly displayed through vivid pictures, with meticulous depictions of characters, animals, and plants, and the images are vivid and vivid. In addition to historical figures and historical stories, scenes reflecting folk customs such as lantern festivals and lion dances can be seen in wood carving works, which vividly reproduce the folk life and society at that time. There are also auspicious pictures of children’s trouble in the spring, happiness, wealth, and longevity, seven sages in the bamboo forest depicting stories of historical figures, as well as Su Shi’s appreciation of chrysanthemums, Guan Zhongye reading, Su Wu shepherd the sheep, Li Bai drunk, Han Yu recruiting relatives, Tao Yuanming’s return, Wang Xizhi’s play with geese and so on. There is also a set of battle maps, including water battles, mountain battles, and positional battles. The carvings are very detailed. It is rare to carve battlefield scenes into wood carvings, probably because Lu Bangxie experienced the Opium War and the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement. These exquisite wood carvings are not only works of art for appreciation, but also teaching materials for instructing and educating family and children in subtle ways. Entering the back hall, it is the place where the master’s parents live, also known as “Gaotang”. Different from the front hall, the woodcarving style here is simple and lively, and the two couplets are full of indoctrination to future generations. In the house, there is also a private school, which is a place for the descendants of Lu family to study and study. The wooden sculpture “Ice Plum Window” means “the fragrance of plum blossoms comes from the bitter cold”, telling the children to bear the pain of ten years of cold windows. . Passing through the dim aisle is Si Ji Tang, where the fifth concubine Zhang Shuangfeng lived. Because of the Lu family’s eldest son and eldest grandson, the mother is expensive for her son, and the residence looks magnificent. Sijitang is also called Guanting, and it was the place where guests met. The middle door in the front of the living room is also called “Yimen”, which is only opened when receiving guests. Sijitang was built in an earlier age, and its architectural style is very similar to that of Chengzhitang in Hongcun. There is a saying that Chengzhitang in Hongcun is an imitation of the official hall. Out of the gate, through the deep alley, is the residence of Lu Wanwan’s three- and four-bedroom aunts, named “Sichengtang”. From the perspective of the house size, it is obviously smaller. The vents are deliberately made into a gourd shape, and persimmon trees are planted in the yard, which means “persimmon and persimmon wishful thinking”. The most distinctive feature is this glass hall, which was once the place where Lu Wanwan’s youngest concubine lived. At that time, glass was a rare thing. Because Lu Wanwan went to Germany when he was in business, he imported glass from Germany and installed it in the house. The ground was also covered with wooden floors. The combination of Chinese and Western styles was unique at the time. Now it seems that these glasses are only two or three millimeters thick, and the workmanship is also exquisite. Time has passed, and the story of the old house continues In the woodcarving building lived an old grandmother, who is the eighth-generation heir of Lu Wanwan, who has been guarding the old house passed down by the ancestors, telling the stories of the old house to the tourists passing by in dialect and local dialect, beside him The big cat seems to have heard it many times, lying on one side and closing his eyes to rest. Time has passed for nearly two centuries, the scenery of the past is not there, the honor and disgrace have been passed away, the owner of the house has changed generation after generation, the old house is still there, witnessed the rise and fall of the ancient village, witnessed the vicissitudes of the years, and listened to what is still going on. story. Leaving the woodcarving building and walking in the streets of Lu Village, it seems to have traveled through time and returned to reality. The quaint villages are full of life and history, and have become the location of many movies and TV series. The once popular Huangmei drama “Huizhou Woman” is set in the woodcarving building in Lu Village. The TV series “Out of the Blue River” was filmed in Lu Village, and the starring Siqin Gaowa was also selected as an “honorary villager” by Lu Villagers. Lu Village in the sea of rapeseed flowers hurriedly passed by once, but it was the most beautiful encounter. The story of Lu Wanwan and his wife Liufang in the wood carving building, have you found the answer?

Mai Vuong’s family in Hanoi has built a firewood stove in a house in the middle of the city to help alleviate the nostalgia for a childhood image.
Today, there are many lines of stoves on the market such as gas stoves, induction cookers, electric cookers … Manufacturers often change their designs, designs and functions to meet the convenience of customers. Therefore, not many families still use firewood stoves for cooking. For families in the city to have a wood stove at home is not easy. However, a family in Hanoi built a wood stove at home to help dispel nostalgia about childhood memories.

Ms. Mai Vuong said that at first, she only decided to build a stainless steel grill and then decided to build a wood stove. Talking with us, Ms. Mai Vuong (living in Hanoi) said that making firewood in the house is an idea derived from her hobby of baking and cooking dishes with home flavors. On the occasion of fixing the house, she and her husband decided to make the kitchen that they both cherished for a long time. “My childhood is associated with a simple wood stove. But I never thought of building a kitchen in the city like this”, Ms. Mai Vuong said. According to Ms. Mai Vuong, who was born in the countryside, the memories of dishes from the wood stove are always in mind … Wherever you go, you can remember the smell of kitchen smoke in your hands, hair, and food. how to eat so dear In Ms. Mai’s feeling, the food cooked with the wood stove is more delicious than the other kitchen. Building a wood stove in the middle of the city is not easy because the house area is not as large as in the countryside. Initially, Mai Vuong and her husband only intended to make stainless steel portable BBQ stoves. However, after the couple discussed, it was decided to build a stove to cook firewood. “The bricks that we use to build the kitchen are all refractory, the price is 70,000 VND / piece, the mortar is also refractory. The material that makes this stove is different from ordinary building materials” Ms. Mai Vuong expressed. The kitchen is placed at the corner of the wall, built about 3cm from the wall of the house, the oven has a brick outer shell, the inner layer in direct contact with cooking is used with fireproof bricks, above there is a chimney about 1m high with the roof . Before embarking on construction, Ms. Mai Vuong and her husband consulted many samples of fireplaces abroad. Fortunately, my husband is an architect, so it does not take too long to design. After building the kitchen, Ms. Mai Vuong bought galangal, rice husks, peanut shells and picked up firewood from the countryside garden and brought it up. She even brought a set of cast-iron and aluminum cookware from the countryside so that the kitchen in the middle of the street had a picture of the old wood stove. Since the kitchen, Ms. Mai Vuong often cooks dishes for both family and friends. Everyone who enjoys this dish cooked from the wood stove also compliments the delicious kumquat, especially the scorched rice dish cooked in a cast iron pot is loved by friends of Ms. Mai Vuong’s family. Although she has a new kitchen, Mai Vuong’s family still uses two parallel kitchens, the rooftop stove is used when practicing friends on weekends because it is suitable for baking dishes.

Recently, the fanpage of Miss International Queen Vietnam – The Perfect Ambassador posted designs for Tran Dai’s national costume selection contest at Miss International Queen 2021 – Miss International Transgender 2021. In there, Design “Recessed Bridge” caused the most controversy.

“Bridge of the Sun” is the product of Ly Thi Ut Lanh (born in 2004). The author describes the design: “The upper part of the costume is made of wood and when performing, the door can be opened to reveal the splendid outfit inside, the blue flap splendidly recreates the image of Dong. by the Mekong River ”. Ly Thi Ut Lanh’s ideas were immediately disgraced. Most netizens believe that the design of “Bridge is” somewhat objectionable, not suitable to become national costume . “Rude – have you read carefully the title of national costume design? I do not understand the idea, agree is bold and outstanding, but please within the framework “, a member commented. Other netizens expressed: “Really rude.
When the construction was completed, Mai returned to her hometown to buy galangal, pineapple, peanut shell and pick up longan firewood from her garden and find some cast-iron pots to cook rice as well.

Ms. Mai shared her idea of the wood stove: “I am a rural girl, so memories of dishes from the wood stove. I miss very much … the smell of kitchen smoke enters her hands, in, hair, into food. The food is so dear, the food is also amazingly delicious. ”

Rooms are stuffy, the doors have to avoid each other, the hallway is just enough for one adult to pass through, these ‘honeycomb’ rooms are home to many students and low-income workers in Ha. Cabinet.

The aisle between the 3m2 rooms is very narrow, dark and humid.

Costs 1 million VND per month, just go to the room to shower and sleep

Currently, the “super small” area of only about 3m2 is the choice of many young people because of low cost, regardless of the inconvenience of living space and living.

In Hanoi, this type of accommodation has just appeared in the past few years, tends to flourish in the districts of Cau Giay, Dong Da, Hai Ba Trung, … where many universities (University ), colleges (colleges), large students and low-income workers.

As noted by PV, a 6-storey house with an area of 45 square meters on Mai Dich Street (Cau Giay) initially had only 8 bedrooms but was redesigned to have a “super” number of rooms for rent – nearly 80 rooms private. The first floor of the house is a shared kitchen and parking space, starting from the second floor onwards is a private room, including two large rooms with an area of about 18-20m2.

What makes viewers surprised when coming here is the design and arrangement of the rooms that do not seem much different from the “honeycomb”. Inside the large room is divided into 8 independent small cells by laminate boards. Each room is 3-5m2 wide, just enough for one person to live in; most are very tight, without windows. In the room, the owner has installed clothes rack, storage bar, electric socket, light bulb and ventilation system. Corridors less than 1m wide are common paths for the whole room. Outside is the shared toilet. These houses are also equipped with a number of other basic amenities for tenants such as wifi, shared air conditioning.

The room is too small, just enough to hang a few clothes and some personal belongings.

LHA (23 years old, a student at Hanoi Electromechanical College) – the tenant here said: “I’ve been here for nearly half a year, the room has 2 people, the rent is 1.3 million dong / month, more living expenses, each person only costs about 1 million. For students, this price is also quite reasonable ”.

However, according to LHA, living in such “honeycomb” apartments is also quite inconvenient. With the number of people on each floor is relatively large, the living space is narrow, noisy, a large room. There is only one door, not to mention the sharing of the kitchen, toilets, laundry drying area that have to wait a long time for each other’s turn.

“Most of the tenants here are students and employees because the rental is low. Because the room is tight, tight and stuffy, people often eat out and only come here in the evening to shower and rest, ”added LHA.

Most of the tenants here choose to eat out, as the whole building has only one shared kitchen.

There is supply there must be demand, but there are potential risks

Currently, the demand for low-cost single-room rentals of students and low-income workers in Hanoi is increasing.

Ms. Nguyen Tra My, owner of a motel in Xuan La Street (Tay Ho) said: “The entire 6-storey house is single room for rent with prices ranging from 1.3 to 1.6 million VND / month. . Most of my tenants have simple needs, they go all day and at night to rest, so rooms like this are easy to rent, not often empty.

According to real estate expert Phan The Phuong, many rental housing companies have quickly grasped the market, designing super-small apartments with relatively full utilities, both to meet the needs of guests, and at the same time. increase revenue for the company.

With a normal bedroom, when divided into 6-7 small bedrooms, the profit will increase by 60-70% of the input rent in the case of a full room lease. However, according to Mr. Phuong, with the profit, the level of risk of this form is quite high.

“This model violates the human safety zone. When living in such a dense environment, they will not be able to feel safe and comfortable. In addition, the facilities in the living space are very few, only temporary, so the tenants will not stay for a long time, so the room vacancy rate is also very high. This business model is not sustainable ”, Mr. Phuong added.

A room is only about 3m2, when no one is in, it still feels urgent.

Are “honeycomb” apartments really economical?

According to LHA, when he first lived here, he often got sick due to living in a secret space, lack of light and air. The noises from the adjacent rooms also made him lose sleep because of the plastic or laminate partitions between mini apartments containing dozens of people who could not be soundproofed.

These 3m2 honeycomb apartments not only cause inconvenience for users but also can affect the house they are in. The rooms, which are inherently only for 2-3 people, are suddenly “transformed” into countless independent rooms, with the number of people many times over, and the space is seriously “overloaded”.

Talking with PV, architect Nguyen Trung Kien said: “The honeycomb model is quite popular in countries such as Japan, Korea, because the climate of those countries is dry all year round, not humid or hot or humid. like our country’s climate. Therefore, we do not support the widespread development of this model in Vietnam ”.

According to Mr. Kien, when renovating the original room into “honeycomb” rooms, to be safe and not affect the scope of construction, companies and design units should use lightweight materials such as : Plaster, plank wood, composite “… Besides, it is necessary to have a reasonable calculation and division of the number of rooms to avoid overloading, limiting the impact on the house structure.
