Cement will be “printed” out according to the architect’s design layer after layer until a wall has enough bearing capacity. This nozzle will be replaced after hours of operation like an ink printer. That change also shows up on the walls of the house, like a small error in the cement printing process. Although in its infancy, the method of building houses with 3D printing has been evaluated by many in the construction industry as a solution to reduce costs and harm the environment by reducing the amount of cement used. In the Netherlands, this is also an alternative in the shortage of skilled masons. The cement stains on the walls of the house are caused by changing the nozzle of the cement after a few hours of operation. This 3D house consists of 24 concrete details, printed layer by layer in a factory in Eindhoven before being transported to the construction site by truck. It is based on a foundation made by Dutch construction company Van Wijinen. After that, the roof and window frames were installed and finished. For future homes, it is hoped that the construction will be done entirely on site. Another advantage of the house is that it prints in just 120 hours. “If we only print once and finish it, it will take less than 5 days. Because, the big benefit of the printer is that there is no need to eat, sleep or rest. If we start tomorrow, the next house will be completed in 5 days, ”said Mr. Huysmans.
