A trend that has been questioned in the past, Bermuda shorts are still making a comeback, from the Spring/Summer 2021 runway to streetwear. The Bermuda shorts were originally chosen as a uniform to match the heat of the North Atlantic island of Bermuda in the early 20th century, a style that became associated with its country of origin. Initially popular among men, this style quickly transitioned into women’s fashion as the henline hemline increased in the 1950s.
Like the hands of a clock, Bermuda shorts made their way back to the 1970s, then the ’90s and again in the mid-2000s. Shorts are often associated with children’s wardrobes and used much by the scouts, but the designers also gradually come up with a youthful style, suitable for more mature youth.
