According to the Bloomberg , statistics of Trip.com show that Chinese consumers book flights, hotel rooms and rent cars 2-3 weeks before the holiday of May 1. The number of transactions increased by 23%, 43% and 126% respectively over the same period in 2019.
The Chinese will make a total of 200 million trips during this period. This is the record number of the holiday season 1/5. Tickets to the Palace Museum in Beijing during the 5-day holiday season have been sold out. Disneyland Shanghai also sold out. The booming demand for travel has made many people unable to buy plane or train tickets to change their plans. Entrepreneur Victor Li, 32, decided to drive from Beijing to Taiyuan (in Shanxi province) to visit his family. A car ride will take 7 hours, while a train ride will only take 3 hours.
