Lexus and the ‘car of the future’

The prototype of the Lexus LF-Z Electrified Concept has just been released. The concept car shows the Japanese automaker’s future design language, electric performance and other high-tech technologies. Lexus plans to develop this model into a commercial vehicle by 2025.

Lexus LF-Z Concept length x width x height is 4,880 x 1,960 x 1,600 mm respectively, wheelbase 2,950 mm, weight 2,100 kg. This helps the car have a low center of gravity while reducing vibration and noise in the cabin.

The interior of the Lexus LF-Z Concept is followed “Tazuna” language, which means reins in Japanese, is heavily aimed at the driver. This design is inspired by the relationship between humans and horses, communicating through a reins.

The car has an airy space, the cabin is minimalistic and has artificial intelligence (AI) acting as a virtual assistant of the driver. High-end sound system made by Mark Levinson.

AI technology will learn driver behavior, provide driver assistance through voice communication. Lexus believes it will help the driver control the car more efficiently, such as directions, traffic information …

Clock and touchscreen share one module. Functional controls are located around the steering wheel area for easy operator operation.

Therefore, the car can customize front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive or two-wheel drive depending on traffic situations.

In addition, torque distribution systems, throttle control or steering wheel control can help the car have better steering reflexes, narrower steering angles but for precise cornering.

Powering the Lexus LF-Z Electrified is a Lithium-ion battery, liquid-cooled, with a capacity of 90 Kw / h; produces a maximum capacity of 536 hp and maximum torque of 700 Nm. Acceleration from 0-100 km / h in 3 seconds, maximum speed 200 km / h. The vehicle is equipped with a charger with a charging speed of 150 kW and a travel distance of 600 km.

Lexus aims to introduce 20 new or upgraded models, of which 10 are hybrid, plug-in hybrid or fully electric by 2025.
