Due to the family of many young children, Van Anh’s family (Hanoi) chose a minimalist style in their 210m2 apartment, creating a spacious space for their children to run and jump.
Van Anh’s family – a doctor in Hanoi has 3 children, 1 girl and 2 boys. Previously they lived in a 110 square meter apartment. However, the couple is very concerned about the living environment and children’s development, so at the end of 2020 they bought a 210m2 apartment as a new home for the family.

The living room is full of light, where the whole family gathers after a long day. When receiving the handover, the apartment has completed basic furniture, but due to unreasonable layout, it has to be dismantled and completely renovated. After 2 epidemics and Tet holiday, the finishing process was also interrupted more or less. Finally, Van Anh’s family was able to bring their belongings to their new home after nearly 5 months of construction. The completion of this house was designed and built by her. The apartment has 4 bedrooms, 1 worship room, 1 living room, 1 kitchen, 1 dining room and 3 bathrooms. The main style of the apartment is modern and minimalist style. With such a layout and design, the children will have a place to run and jump. Van Anh’s dining chair is very satisfied, because the children can sit comfortably without leaning back or falling behind. She shared, in the past, the old kitchen table used to be ceramic coated. After a few times, her son knocked on the bowl, on the spoon it cracked a few lines on the table. This time, learning from experience, she made stone countertops, ensuring durability and easy cleaning. The main color tone is gray and white combined with yellow lights to create a bright and tidy space, a feeling of gentle relaxation but still luxurious enough. Van Anh’s husband is a technology ‘addict’, so from the beginning he calculated and installed a smarthome system. “When he proposed to make a smarthome, I thought it was a waste, but after using it, I found it convenient and very reasonable,” said Ms. Van Anh. According to her, the water heater is set to the on/off time frame according to the needs of the family to help save electricity. At 6:30 a.m., the curtains will automatically open to illuminate the room, or set the “guests to the house” mode, just one button to open the curtains, the lights will turn on, and the air conditioner will be cool to invite guests in. Or simply at night, hide under the blanket and turn off all the lights on the phone, “without having to push each other to push the switch”, she said. The dining area is connected to the living room, but the two spaces are still separated by the ceiling. Around the house, there are many cabinets and drawers arranged. Van Anh believes that if you want to be neat, you have to hide everything in the drawer. In the kitchen, she made glass sliding doors to separate. When folding the door, it will fit behind the wooden wall. The kitchen is divided into two parts, a washing area on one side and a separate cooking area on the other. Under the drawers, she arranges various types of baking machines, dough mixers, pressure cookers, slow juicers, blenders, air fryers… Especially, when planning the design, Ms. Van Anh does the work. including 220v and 110v power lines. Any 110v drive is attached with a ticked symbol. In addition, she does not make an overhead bowl rack, attaching a glass door. Because from the outside looking at the big and small mess. She put bowls, chopsticks, spoons in the drawer below, the purpose is also for the children to help the mother prepare the table. Pink bedroom for the eldest daughter. The large table is both a study place and a place for children to look in the mirror and groom themselves. Bedroom 2 boys. A unique feature in this house is the pair of revolving doors, separating the living room from the bedroom but still creating a connection with the outside space, allowing parents to easily observe their children. The room also has a mezzanine floor for reading and playing. In the room there is 1 toilet, install two small sized wash basins, for 2 of you to take care of yourself. The balcony is simply glazed over the entire lower half (the upper half still has cables), both safe for the children, not worrying about the children throwing toys down and watering the plants and not getting the neighbor’s house wet downstairs. Balcony in the evening with light from the floor, add a little shadow of leaves, plus the breeze of the 25th floor is a corner to drink tea and take photos. Master bedroom of the couple. In the master bedroom there is a dressing room and a toilet. Changing room, 2 sides are 2 cabinets, comfortable storage from winter to summer, leading directly to the toilet. Homeowners use frosted glass, not sealed like wooden wings, but still translucent enough for outsiders not to see the mess inside. The details in the house are required to be “negative” as much as possible. From the door hinges to the air conditioning vents, they are also flat with the wall.
