Mazda CX-3 and CX-30 new from VND 550 million coming to Vietnam?

Mazda dealerships are receiving a deposit of two Mazda CX-3 and Mazda CX-30 models imported from Thailand.

Noticing that the small CUV segment is “heating up” in the Vietnamese market in recent years, Mazda Vietnam (Thaco) has decided to add 2 brand new CUV models in the Vietnamese market, positioned under the Mazda CX-5 series. Instead of assembly, the Mazda CX-30 and CX-3 will be imported directly from Thailand similar to the BT-50 and Mazda2 pickups.

In terms of positioning, the new generation Mazda CX-3 will position lower than the CX-5, while the CX-30 is located between these two models. Mazda CX-30 “born later” than the CX-3, the new Mazda CX-30 uses the same chassis platform SkyActiv-Vehicle Architecture shared with the new generation Mazda3 “brother”.

Mazda CX-30 is a member of the CX-Series family, the car uses the Kodo design language with many similarities to the CX-3/5/8. The front of the car features a large grille cluster and a strong chrome bar underneath connecting the LED headlight cluster. The arrival of the all-new Mazda CX-30 has opened up more options for customers back home in Japan. With that said, the Mazda CX-30 is the product that fills the gap between the CX-3 and CX-5 when it carries dimensions: Length x Width x Height: 4,395 x 1,795 x 1,540 mm, and base length: 2,655 mm.

Mazda said it has arranged interior space and CX-30 seats, in order to provide a comfortable sitting position for customers. The front row has large armchairs, the rear seats have a longer distance from the front seats, the height of the seat position and the floor height are adjusted to ensure a spacious space. The capacity of the rear luggage compartment reaches 430 liters, the open width of 1,020mm may not contain large baby strollers and travel bags at the same time.

In Thailand, the CX-30 uses a 2.0L SkyActiv-G 4cyl engine for a maximum power of 162 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 213 Nm at 4,000 rpm combined with a 6-speed automatic gearbox (6 AT) and front-field drive (FWD). Similar to the Mazda3, the CX-30 uses a McPherson-style suspension in the front and a torsion beam rear suspension.

Because of the development of the same chassis, the CX-30 shares quite a lot with the new generation Mazda3 “brother”. Therefore, the CX-30 interior has a similar design to the Mazda3 hatchback. Brown leather seats + 10-way electric driver’s seats while the customer seats adjust their hands. The Mazda CX-30 is equipped with an 8.8-inch info entertainment screen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Mazda CX-3 is undoubtedly a familiar model with many doctors interested in Mazda cars, in 2017 there were CX-3 models brought home, but used for personnel at the company and not sold to the market. Until now, after 5 years, Mazda CX-3 has plans to sell in Vietnam market.

In Thailand, the Mazda CX-3 uses a 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G (I4) in-line 4-cylinder engine but has been refined to give a maximum power of 148 horsepower and a maximum torque of 201Nm. Higher than the 146 horsepower and maximum torque of 198 Nm in the 2017 version. Power is transmitted down the front bridge (FWD), via a 6-level automatic transmission (6AT).

Mazda said the engine has been tweaked to make the torque higher and more fuel efficient. Equipped with G-Vectoring Control (GVC) technology that helps control G-force by interfering and changing the torque from the engine to each wheel to help the car more stable when entering the corner. Besides, the suspension is also improved.

In Thailand, Mazda CX-30 has a starting price of VND 1,099,000 – 1,199,000Bath (about VND 805 – 877 million). While cx-3 is priced from 769,000,000 – 959,000,000 (about 563 – 703 million DONG). As expected, the Mazda CX-3 will cost no less than VND 550 million, while the CX-30 will cost no less than VND 700 million in the Vietnamese market.

Currently, the CUV segment of Grade B and Grade C is increasingly popular in the Vietnamese market because of its versatile. The small CUV segment quickly became a trend of buying cars of many customers, which caused automakers to focus on these product lines.

Regarding Mazda, currently its smallest CUV is the CX-5 and Mazda Vietnam is missing a model located in the lower segment of the CX-5 to meet the demand from the market.

Once sold, the Mazda CX-30 will compete with the Toyota Corolla Cross, while the CX-3 competes with the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Kona or Ford EcoSport. Even in the near future, Mazda Vietnam can assemble CX-3 and CX-30 models in the country if these two models attract customers.
