That day, when I received a call from the Chairman of the SOS blood donation club in Cao Bang province, it was already 10:00 at night. It was a woman with bleeding that the blood store of the provincial general hospital ran out of blood type. “By natural reflex, I got up and drove 45 km from my home to the provincial hospital to donate blood for the sick. I myself did not think about what I would encounter on the way,” – Ms. Hoang Thi Hang recounts his story. Also in another time, when Hang was on a business trip in Thach An district, Cao Bang, on the way back, she received information that there was a patient in need of emergency blood and the blood group coincided with her blood group B. Forgetting the fatigue of the business trip, Hang drove down to the hospital to donate blood. Working at the Medical Center, when a patient needs blood, she is ready to respond. I don’t think it’s a big job, but in a situation where people can save lives, everyone will do the same! Ms. Hoang Thi Hang in a blood donation session Right from 2004 when she entered Cao Bang Medical School, Ms. Hoang Thi Hang was taught by teachers about voluntary blood donation. When she went to clinical practice at the Provincial Hospital and witnessed with her own eyes many acute blood loss patients being saved from those volunteer blood drops, she was even more eager to participate in this noble work. Not only is she a blood donation volunteer, she is also a recipient of such emergency blood units. “I myself used to be a patient who donated blood due to hemorrhage during childbirth. As a person who was saved by blood drops of volunteers, I understand more than anything the meaning of this act. As an officer Working in the medical industry, interacting with many patients standing on the border of life and death, I understand the importance of every drop of blood given,” Hang shared. Build a mobile blood store For Ms. Hang, voluntary blood donation is a noble gesture, not only saving the lives of patients but also giving blood donors a joy and happiness because they have done a very noble thing. : “A drop of blood gives, a life stays”. On average, she donates blood 2-3 times a year. As a volunteer, Ms. Hang has participated in many voluntary blood donation activities in Cao Bang province such as the Pink Spring Festival, Red Sunday; Red Journey Army Association and support blood donation points in 11 districts and cities. Besides voluntary blood donation, Hang and her Voluntary Blood Donor Club participate in blood donation campaigns, especially many times of emergency blood donation. The number of volunteers’ blood donations reached over 500 registrations and about 400 blood units were collected. Among the volunteers who were mobilized by her to donate blood were relatives, relatives, friends, colleagues, neighbors… Now, they themselves have become mobile “blood warehouses” that are always ready. response” whenever the patient needs it. They are not only volunteers but also propagandists, spreading good deeds to the community, so that every day the number of blood donors increases, the number of anemic patients decreases… Volunteering to become a “living blood bank” for patients, midwife Hang has shown a noble gesture, expressing the dedication, conscience and responsibility of medical staff. In 2021, Hoang Thi Hang is in the list of 100 typical blood donors honored nationwide.
