Using electronic medical records and online consultations is an initiative of military doctors at the Infectious Field Hospital No. 2 – Military Medical Hospital 103/Military Medical Academy in Regiment 831 (Military Command of Northern Province). Giang) used to treat patients in the long-term battle with the Covid-19 epidemic.
The difficulty of the idea

Assoc. Dr. Luong Cong Thuc, Deputy Director of Military Medical Hospital 103, Director of Infectious Field Hospital No. 2. “Fighting the Covid epidemic is considered by us as a task to fight in peacetime,” Assoc. Dr. Luong Cong Thuc, Deputy Director of Military Medical Hospital 103, Director of the No. 2 Infectious Field Hospital confirmed so. His words are like an oath, a declaration of war against the Covid enemy right in the middle of the “fire pan” in Bac Giang right now. At 8:00 am on June 3, the second online consultation of the day by Dr. Thuc and his colleagues. The working atmosphere is urgent and serious, all computers, 4G-enabled smartphones, and the Internet system of 14 doctors and nurses are ready to connect with a stable connection. Every day, the Board of Directors (Board of Directors) of the Hospital (closed in the outer circle) based on the situation of organizing scheduled or ad-hoc online consultations with the staff, medical staff, and doctors who are directly treating patients. (ring in). Thanks to the application of information technology, all images and sounds about the treatment situation for Covid-19 patients from areas at the No. 2 Infectious Field Hospital are transmitted to the operating area. Without any walkie-talkie, the hospital’s doctors and nurses can still fully grasp the information, see the images clearly, and hear each sound in a realistic and multi-dimensional way. This solution has been implemented from May 23 to now. On the television screen connected to the Internet with the Board of Directors’ room, on the other side, Major, specialist I Le Tien Dung, Head of Emergency Department, quickly reported on the condition of patient N.D. .T (86 years old). Using a smartphone, Dr. Dung directed the rotation of machines and equipment so that the Board of Directors understood important indicators. The unit’s doctors participated in online consultations to discuss treatment regimens for Covid-19 patients. X-ray film of patient T in the electronic medical record is enlarged. Both sides of the “front line” can easily exchange information and analyze health conditions, thereby giving treatment plans, drugs to use, and methods of care. All data of a paper medical record is converted into an electronic medical record. Perhaps in the midst of the intense battle with the Covid epidemic, electronic medical records and online consultations are considered the “ultimate weapon” of the doctors here. Doctor Dinh Cong Pho – who writes software, designs and realizes electronic medical records from the idea of Dr. La Quang Ho. The specific characteristics of the hospital treating Covid patients is that it is divided into separate areas: the treatment area for severe patients; treatment area for moderate and mild patients; The stabilization zone is for patients who have tested negative for the first time, preparing for discharge from the hospital, these areas are difficult to connect with each other. Therefore, using traditional paper medical records and face-to-face consultations is not suitable, treating doctors and nurses cannot move freely from one area to another while still having to know the patient’s condition. 24 hours. Major, Master La Quang Ho, Deputy Director of Infectious Field Hospital No. 2 proposed the initiative to implement electronic medical records. He and Lieutenant, Doctor Dinh Cong Pho, Head of Infection Control Department, No. 2 Infectious Field Hospital discussed and designed to bring the application of electronic medical records and online consultation into reality. The electronic medical record is designed on the open source Kobotoolbox. This is an online tool for data collection and management, making scientific research activities easier and more accurate. Doctor Pho shared: “The electronic medical record is designed on the open source Kobotoolbox. We use this medical record along with online consultations and briefings with Zoom software to discuss the patient’s treatment regimen. This solution best conveys information by both headphones and eyes (especially X-ray films of the patient’s lungs), promoting effective treatment of patients in specific conditions.” The battle is still long After many outbreaks in Bac Giang, the Covid-19 epidemic had complicated developments, the Ministry of Defense directed the establishment of the Infectious Field Hospital No. 2 – Military Medical Hospital 103/Military Medical Academy in China. Group 831 (which is stationed in Tan Yen district, Bac Giang province) to promptly collect and treat patients. In just 2 short days, more than 120 officers and doctors of units such as: Military Medical Hospital 103 (Military Medical Academy), Air Force Medical Hospital (Air Defense – Air Force) ), the Military Institute of Traditional Medicine arranged and installed the hospital with the goal of speed and decisive victory. Patient N.Đ.T. is cared for and treated with enthusiasm by the doctors and nurses of the No. 2 Infectious Field Hospital. On the evening of May 21, the hospital completed its facilities, arranged departments, rooms, and the hospital received 42 patients. That number increased rapidly. Up to now, the unit is collecting and treating 324 patients, most of them are female, the youngest patient is 6 months old, the oldest patient is 87 years old. Immediately after admission, all patients were carried out biochemical tests, chest X-rays, investigations, and recorded background disease history. According to Dr. Luong Cong Thuc, the application of information technology in medical examination and data management by electronic medical records and consultation via the Internet is really effective in the battle against the Covid-19 enemy. Through treatment, the majority of patients improved, symptoms decreased, clinical manifestations were closely monitored by doctors and nurses. For patients with more severe symptoms, the unit promptly moved to the treatment area for severe patients at Bac Giang Provincial General Hospital. The first 4 patients were discharged. Thanks to this solution, on June 2, 4 patients were discharged from the hospital. As one of these four patients, Ms. LTN (Luc Ngan) said emotionally: “Today I am very happy to be discharged from the hospital. I would like to sincerely thank the doctors and nurses for taking care of us and treating us.” In addition, many other patients have made good progress like the VMH sisters… Post, photo: Tuyet Mai
