These mulberry roots have been planted since 1980, each crop gives an income of tens of millions of dong. Each root averages from 1.5-2 quintals of fruit. The current selling price is from 25 to 30 thousand VND/kg, bought by small traders in the garden. As Mr. Ky shared, when the harvest is complete, he will weed, dig the soil and dig a deep hole near the base of the mulberry tree to fertilize. The characteristic of this plant is that it loves water, so this area is flooded every year, it is alluvial, so the tree grows well. No need for sophisticated care, on this occasion Mr. Ky’s family has harvested from 3 million VND or more each. The fruiting stem starts from the root to the tip. As Mr. Ky shared, there were many guests who came to pay more than tens of millions of dollars for a mulberry tree that is over 40 years old, but he still did not sell it. The mulberry tree stumps are decades old, not only economic in fruit collection, but also sought after by many people to buy. The berries are plump, ripe, waiting to be harvested. On this occasion, people come to buy a lot, they will climb up to pick, then come down at the yard to weigh and charge. Like this original, someone came to pay tens of millions and did not sell. Because I want to keep it for my children and grandchildren, I have a few million silver coins here every year,” said Mrs. Hoa. On this occasion, Ms. Tran Thi Ha (resident of Huong Khe district) often goes to houses with skins to buy and sell. She said, usually traders will choose the sweetest, most delicious root to buy, the price is offered by the grower. “The strawberry skin is harvested in about 20 days, and customers buy a lot. Some people buy a whole weight and take it to Hanoi and Saigon to give it,” said Ms. Ha. The berries are picked and put on the street for sale.
