When summer is approaching, the peak heat is the time when the ultraviolet (UV) index is high, which can affect health, especially those who are constantly exposed to sunlight. The use of sunscreen is essential to help limit the risk of skin cancer.
The harmful effects of UV rays

Ultraviolet rays are invisible rays, part of the energy coming from the sun, that can burn skin and cause skin cancer. UV radiation is made up of three types of rays – ultraviolet A (UVA), ultraviolet B (UVB) and ultraviolet C (UVC). UVC is the most dangerous type of ultraviolet rays, but it cannot penetrate the ozone layer of the atmosphere, so it is not harmful to the earth. UVA and UVB rays – are the most harmful substances, of which 95% are UVA rays and 5% are UVB rays. UVB rays often affect the outer layer of the skin, damaging the skin. UVB rays cannot pass through glass windows, but are strongly reflected from snow, water surface, asphalt, causing burns … It can lead to some types of skin cancers such as melanoma, carcinoma. basal and squamous tissue. UVA rays are much less intense than UVB rays but reach the deeper layers of the skin about 50 times and cause more damage than UVB rays. UVA rays penetrate thin materials such as windows, clothes, clouds … so even if it’s shady, or cloaked in sun-protective clothing, our skin is still heavily affected. This ray does not cause immediate blackening of the skin like UVB, but causes skin aging and immunodeficiency, it also affects the basal cell layer of the epidermis, where most skin cancers arise. Although the acute effects of UV are usually short and reversible. But the long-term effects of UV rays are much more serious and dangerous, which can be life-threatening, including aging of the skin, suppression of the immune system, eye damage and skin cancer. For this reason, it is often recommended to use a sunscreen to block both of these types of radiation. How to use sunscreen? When the skin has been severely damaged by UV damage and the skin has lost significant collagen, lax cell connection, treatments, including modern aesthetic methods, have partly improved, but It is very difficult to give back healthy skin because at this time the cell’s DNA is damaged. Therefore, it is essential to do immediately to prevent the skin from getting sunburned. First of all, it should be minimized when going to the street when the sun is heavy and need to take measures to protect the skin when going out in the sun with a hat / hat, jacket and sunscreen. Protect skin by wearing a hat and sunscreen 30 minutes before going out in the sun. For the sunscreen to be effective, apply sunscreen to areas of skin that must be exposed to direct sunlight 20 minutes before going out. For the skin already with clothing support, you just need to apply an appropriate amount to the skin. For areas exposed to direct sunlight, sunscreen should be reapplied every two hours. Going outdoors, sunscreen should be reapplied every 2 hours. The shelf life of conventional sunscreens is 3 years under normal room temperature conditions. If placed in an environment that is too hot or too cold, the product quality will suffer, thereby disabling their functionality.
