On May 11, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands Pham Viet Anh worked at the World Horti Center (WHC) and visited a number of member businesses of the Dutch Commercial Horticultural Cooperation Association. -Vietnam (Netherlands-Vietnam Horti Business Platform – NVHBP).

Receiving the Ambassador and the delegation were Mr. Hans Kleijwegt, General Director; Mr. Mark Zwinkels, Director of the International Relations Department of WHC; Mr. Henk van Eijk, President of NVHBP and Ms. Mirjam Boekestijn, coordinator of NVHBP in the Netherlands. At the meeting, Ambassador Pham Viet Anh expressed his desire to continue to be supported by WHC for farming businesses in Vietnam and especially wanted to have a connection for agricultural students from Vietnamese universities. can participate in annual international student exchange programs at the Center, in order to acquire and update knowledge and modern technologies applied to the development of sustainable crop production in Vietnam. Horticulture-horticulture is one of nine industries in the Dutch economic development strategy. The Dutch horticulture industry develops according to the trend of globalization, supplying agricultural products to the world market. As a leading innovator in greenhouse technology, the Dutch horticulture sector plays a leading role in the international market for flowers, ornamental plants, vegetables, bulbs and renewable materials. The Netherlands is the world’s third largest exporter of nutritional crop products and the second largest exporter of agricultural products (after the United States). WHC is a vivid illustration of the integrated thinking, broad and long-term vision of the Netherlands in general and Dutch businesses in particular. The complex is an example of the connection according to the “golden triangle” formula between the Government – research institutions – enterprises. The Government creates conditions and mechanisms but does not provide financial support (according to regulations on fair competition). The research and manufacturing facilities related to farming send here applied research products, which are both learning and research tools and a production tool for commercial products. The center has 3 continuous zones including Education and Training, Research – Development, and Business Cooperation. This place is also a forum to share technology and innovation in the field of greenhouse cultivation. Every year, WHC welcomes about 25,000 international visitors and experts to visit, learn, share experiences, innovate in the horticulture industry and participate in fairs. WHC has a 4-year horticultural vocational school for about 1,200 students, not to mention international student exchange programs in this industry with courses of 3-4 months/year. This is also the place of convergence, display and regular exchange of 130 leading enterprises in the horticulture industry with modern products from automation machines, ventilation systems, water and humidity management systems. , temperature in the greenhouse to products such as plant protection films / nets, light blocking in greenhouses, plant seeds, biological fertilizers… In addition, the center also has a state-of-the-art research facility with 40 laboratories, where different researchers, entrepreneurs and educational institutions conduct research.
