On May 12, information from the Health Department of Ho Chi Minh City said that the same day Radiation Therapy Center 2 was officially put into operation, starting a roadmap to deal with dozens of overcrowding. this year at Primary 1 Oncology Hospital.

The patient first had a simulated CT scan before receiving head and neck radiation According to Associate Professor-Dr. Tang Chi Thuong, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, right after the State Department of Construction Inspection (the Ministry of Construction) has issued a written approval to allow acceptance and commissioning of the basement. 1 and 2 basement of Oncology Hospital 2, Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Construction Project Management Unit of Ho Chi Minh City has handed over to the Oncology Hospital all the facilities in the basement. 1 and 2 basement, where will deploy the Radiation treatment area of the hospital. The radiotherapy area of the day covers an area of more than 1,000 square meters, is equipped with 2 simulation CT systems, 6 accelerated radiotherapy systems, 2 brachytherapy systems and 9 outpatient clinics. This is an area that integrates simulation, treatment planning, external radiation therapy, brachytherapy and outpatient examination to form a closed day-to-day radiotherapy treatment at Primary Cancer Hospital 2. Accordingly, after the patient has prescribed radiation therapy from the treatment department, the patient is taken to the Radiotherapy Area to perform the simulation. The simulation area is equipped with 2 16-slice CT machines, which can perform 3D, 3D simulation techniques with contrast, comes with RPM breathing synchronous system for high-tech 4D radiotherapy ( modulated radiation therapy according to the patient’s breathing rate). After the simulation, the CT data are transferred to the Radiotherapy Planning Department to perform the positioning of radiotherapy volumes and healthy organs, calculate the irradiation field parameters, dose, shielding, … treatment. to get an optimized personalized radiation treatment plan for each patient. When the radiotherapy plan is approved by the treating doctor and the engineer, the data is transferred to the radiotherapy machine to prepare the patient for radiotherapy. The daily plans will be checked and measured directly on the machine to ensure the quality of treatment (the actual dose delivered on the machine must be the same as the dose set in the software). If all are satisfactory, the patient will be treated on a radiograph. At present, Baseline Oncology Hospital 2 has put into operation 6 image-guided radiotherapy machines (IGRT) that can perform advanced techniques in radiotherapy today: Electron, 3D, IMRT, VMAT. In addition, the radiotherapy machine can perform SRS / SBRT (Hyper Arch) radiotherapy, breathing radiotherapy, control surface movement. It is expected that, when the professional processes and the equipment systems are in stable operation, the 2nd Primary Oncology Hospital will rapidly increase the number of patients coming to the radiotherapy area. With 6 accelerated radiotherapy systems equipped, the service capacity of the radiotherapy area at facility 2 can meet 240-400 times of radiation therapy per day, capable of resolving the overload situation. radiation therapy for Primary 1 Oncology Hospital for decades. According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, on May 19, the Oncology Hospital will continue to bring outpatients of the internal block to the 2 primary Oncology Hospital to continue treatment and chemotherapy during the day. . With a design of 100 chemotherapy beds a day, the 2nd Primary Oncology Hospital’s Day Chemotherapy area is capable of chemotherapy 300 patients per day, which will reduce 70 – 80% of the number of chemotherapy during the day. basis 1. In addition, from this time, the Oncology Hospital will start appointing patients who are monitored after the end of chemotherapy, radiotherapy at facility 1 to be re-examined at the Primary Oncology Hospital. 2. When the inpatient treatment area of the 2nd Primary Oncology Hospital is officially handed over, all the inpatients of the 1st Primary Oncology Hospital will be transferred to the new facility.
