“Every time I see a patient facing life and death, I am ready to donate blood,” midwife Hoang Thi Hang confided. “In that situation everyone would do the same” In the many times of blood donation to save lives, the time she rode a motorbike 45km 6 years ago to give emergency care to a bleeding pregnant woman with Ms. Hoang Thi Hang (Medical Center of Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province) she still remembers it clearly. That day, when I received a call from the Chairman of the SOS blood donation club in Cao Bang province, it was already 10:00 at night. It was a woman with bleeding that the blood store of the provincial general hospital ran out of blood type. “By natural reflex, I got up and drove 45 km from my home to the provincial hospital to donate blood for the sick. I myself did not think about what I would encounter on the way,” – Ms. Hoang Thi Hang recounts his story. Also in another time, when Hang was on a business trip in Thach An district, Cao Bang, on the way back, she received information that there was a patient in need of emergency blood and the blood group coincided with her blood group B. Forgetting the fatigue of the business trip, Hang drove down to the hospital to donate blood. At that time, she only thought about how to walk as quickly as possible so that the patient could hope to be saved. “Every time I see a patient facing life and death, I am ready to donate blood, just hoping that my blood will help them through the crisis,” midwife Hoang Thi Hang shared.
