What is the experience of flying in Pyongyang, North Korea? There are not many flights, there is only one hamburger on the plane meal

Recently, I published several articles about my travel in North Korea in 18 years, and they have been loved by a large number of netizens. Everyone expressed great interest in our country’s neighboring country-North Korea. Many friends sent me private messages indicating that they visited North Korea. However, it is estimated that you cannot travel to North Korea during the current epidemic. After the epidemic is over, there are two ways to travel to North Korea. One is to fly from Shenyang to North Korea, and the other is to take a train from Dandong. What I know at the moment is These two lines.

I arrived in Pyongyang on a non-stop flight from Shenyang to and from North Korea.

On the tarmac, the North Korean civil aviation airliner is on standby. The external letter mark of the aircraft is Air Koryo, the foreign name of Koryo Airlines. In North Korea, there is only one airline, and that is Korea International Airlines. The company was founded in 1955 and is headquartered in Pyongyang. At the beginning of its establishment, the airliners used were all civil aviation airliners manufactured by the former Soviet Union. In the 1970s, the Tu154-B jet airliner was introduced.

At 2:23 pm on October 24, 2018, I was on a North Korean Airlines plane (the flight time is about 1 hour, and the time difference is 1 hour).

Pyongyang Sunan International Airport

Pyongyang’s first airport is located east of the Datong River. After World War II, in view of the demand for the new airport, the Pyongyang Airport was built. During the Korean War, in the late 1950s, the airport was occupied by United Nations forces for about seven weeks. During this period, the United Nations Air Force sent a large amount of supplies to it, and on May 13, 1953, when the United States Air Force bombed the Toksan Dam, the airport was flooded. Two months after the armistice was signed, the North Korean government began to repair and expand the airport. That is today’s Pyongyang Shun’an Airport.

According to online information, the construction of Terminal 2 of Pyongyang International Airport started in 2012, which was designed by Pyongyang University of Architecture. The inauguration ceremony of the new terminal of Pyongyang International Airport was held on July 1, 2015. The picture shows the decoration style of the Pyongyang airport terminal is very modern. The interior design style, including color, function, facilities and many other elements are the same as that of the domestic capital international airport.

The tour guide said: With the earth decoration in the middle of the departure hall, Koryo Airlines also has a heart to fly to the world.

A huge landscape oil painting hangs above the waiting hall.

Many tourists from China waited quietly for the flight.

The neatly-dressed North Korean Airline flight attendants, each holding a uniform black suitcase, lined up into the airport lobby, very eye-catching.

Board the plane

The picture shows the interior of the cabin. The passenger seats are all covered with red seat covers, and there is a small monitor every some distance, showing some programs. Compared with the airliner flights we usually take, they are similar to each other. It’s not bad in terms of comfort and speed.

For the safety of passengers, the flight attendants on the flight will solemnly demonstrate the use of seat belts. It can be seen that the stewardess under the camera is very serious and responsible. In addition to live demonstrations, there will also be drawings of various safety precautions in the cabin that are marked in both Korean and English.

Although the facilities on the plane are outdated, the cleanliness of the cabin of the plane is very high. The Korean habit of loving cleanliness is indeed reflected in all aspects.

After seated on the flight, a flight attendant pushed a van to sell goods. The clothes were generous and capable, and she did not lose to the international flight attendants. All the drinks and mineral water on the trolley looked like a train ride in life.

I thought that international flights would provide a richer in-flight meal, but it did not. Each customer only sent a hamburger and a bottle of mineral water. It was a pity to see only this.

When the plane took off slowly, I quickly took pictures of the city landscape of Pyongyang. The buildings were neatly arranged, there were many blue-roofed factories, and from the plane, there were many mountains and flat areas in North Korea. Over 80% of the country was mountainous. Some are above 2000 meters above sea level, with an average elevation of 440 meters.

The most wonderful flying experience in my life is the flight to Pyongyang from Shenyang, which is a bit of excitement and mystery.
