The fact that the iPad is equipped with a chip so powerful makes many people think that maintaining both the Mac and the iPad is unnecessary.
Earlier this week, Apple introduced the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro with not much change in appearance but many upgrades inside. Most notably, they have the Apple 11 chip that was previously only available on the MacBook Pro, Mac mini and MacBook Air released in November last year.

The M1 equipping iPad has sparked speculation that Apple will soon merge the iPad and Mac into one product. However, Mr. Greg Joswiak insists this is not a target for Apple. Meanwhile, Mr. John Ternus said that Apple has no goal of limiting the capabilities of one device just to avoid tampering with another. “We strive to make the Mac the best we can, we strive to make the best iPad possible,” he said. Instead, Mr. Joswiak says that adding more performance will give developers more space to act. “Our developers take advantage of this opportunity very quickly,” he said.
