Visitors will be able to visit and spend the night on a replica ship of the Titanic. Everything from the dining room to the luxurious cabins and door handles is in the style of the original Titanic.
Dubbed “unsinkable”, the Titanic sank on its maiden voyage in 1912, after crashing into an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean, killing about 1,500 people.
The legendary Titanic will be reconstructed in China, in the hope of becoming a tourist attraction. The biggest difference with the “original” Titanic is that the replica ship will not set sail. It is located by the river, at an amusement park in Sichuan province and about 1,000 km from the sea.

The song “My Heart Will Go On” performed by Céline Dion will play again during the tour. Everything from the dining room to the luxurious cabins and even the door handles is in the style of the original Titanic. Facilities such as a banquet hall, theater, observatory and a swimming pool will also be restored on board. Inspired by director James Cameron’s 1997 film Titanic, the project owner said he wanted this replica to last another 100 or 200 years, to preserve the memories of the Titanic. He also hopes to welcome about 5 million visitors each year to visit this replica ship. However, the opening date has not yet been set. 
The replica ship will have the same length as the original, with a length of about 269 m. Construction will take about six years, longer than the previous Titanic. This plan is expected to require about 23,000 tons of steel, hundreds of workers and 1 billion yuan (about 153.5 million USD). “The greatest meaning of building this ship is to continue and inherit the great spirit of Titanic. I will invite Jack, Rose and James Cameron to the inauguration ceremony,” the investor said.
