While Duchess Kate Middleton wore two pieces of pearls, Queen Elizabeth II opted for a brooch that carries a lot of meaning.
At Prince Philip’s funeral at Windsor Castle, 30 members arrived, all dressed in black.

This item was also lent to Princess Diana for a party in November 1982. The highlight is the earrings with Bahrain pearls. When she married Prince Philip in 1947, the queen was given seven large pearls by the Hakim people of Bahrain as a wedding gift. Two of them were designed by her as earrings. The jewel called Richmond Brooch was a wedding present given to the queen’s grandmother – Queen Mary – in 1893. It has a large pearl in the center, with a removable pear-shaped one. She wore it with and without the pearl drop. For Prince Philip’s funeral, she wore it but without the removable pear-shaped pearl.
