As one of the outstanding Chinese auto brands, BYD’s continuous deep cultivation in the field of new energy in recent years has gradually shown its effect. A series of DM-i models have also been launched recently, and Tang is the flagship of BYD’s current SUV matrix. The product will naturally not fall. On the eve of the Tang DM-i’s launch, we also conducted a test drive experience on it to experience what the DM-i version of Tang can make. BYD Tang DM-i continues the family-style Dragon Face design language. Compared with the other versions of Tang, there is not much change, but there are more logos in the details, which we are more familiar with. The long and narrow headlights have not changed. The matrix LED light source makes it look dazzling. The decorative strips on the upper edge of the headlights continue to stretch out from the middle net, which also makes the entire front face more integrated. The side of the body is still very dynamic, and the waistline of the “Youlong Jumping” is very elegant. In terms of body size, the parameters of the Tang DM-i are 4870/1950/1725mm, and the wheelbase is 2820mm, which is considered a standard medium and large SUV. Wheels up to 20 inches in size are quite uplifting. The double five-frame shape looks full of tension and adopts the popular two-color design. The standard tires are from the Giti brand and the specifications are 245/45 R20. The through-type taillights at the rear of the car are highly recognizable. The license plate frame is placed on the rear bumper, which makes the whole rear more concise without losing the sense of hierarchy. The tail DM-i also emphasizes its identity. . The interior basically follows the style of the previous DM version. As a whole, the luxurious and high-end atmosphere in the car is quite successful. While maintaining the BYD brand family gene, the details can withstand scrutiny. The double-spoke steering wheel size is quite satisfactory. The two-color leather wrap further enhances its luxury. The integrated control functions above are also quite good. At the same time, it also has a good grip, which is quite solid. The UI design of the full LCD instrument with two main modes looks simple and refreshing, rich in information, strong in functionality, and the display effect is quite good, and the background color can be changed according to the switching of the driving mode. The 15.6-inch rotatable central display is equipped with DiLink 3.0 intelligent network connection system, with 70+ smart voice controls, supporting fuzzy semantics, child voice recognition and multi-person interaction. The configuration level of Tang DM-i still maintains the usual richness of BYD. The DIRAC audio from Northern Europe has 12 high-fidelity speakers. The sound performance is worthy of recognition. The speaker cover on the door panel also has a shape similar to strings. The NFC car key function of the mobile phone is a very practical black technology. Through the bound mobile phone, you only need to be close to the exterior mirror of the vehicle to unlock and start without the key. It can also be used without network conditions. In addition, car owners can also use the clairvoyance mode to connect the camera inside and outside the vehicle through the mobile phone to view the real-time images of the inside and outside of the vehicle. In addition to being safer and more convenient, it is also a bit interesting. In addition to the panoramic parking assistance that can realize 3D display, Tang DM-i also has a set of holographic transparent imaging system that can calculate the road surface under the vehicle and display obstacles without blind spots, thereby further ensuring safety. The panoramic sunroof is of course an indispensable configuration for an SUV model. The panoramic sunroof of the Tang DM-i is quite large, with a lighting area of 0.84 square meters, and the front section can be opened to make the car look more transparent. In terms of space, Tang DM-i and other previous versions have not changed in any way. They were also introduced in the previous real shots. We will not describe more here. The practicality of the seven-seater model is still adequately guaranteed. Below we are going to introduce some Tang DM-i’s power system, which is a plug-in hybrid system composed of a 1.5T engine, an electric motor, and a lithium iron phosphate blade battery dedicated to DM-i. This engine is dedicated for Snap Cloud plug-in hybrids. Using Miller cycle, the maximum power is 102kW (139Ps), the peak torque is 231N.m, the maximum power of the front axle motor is 145kW, the maximum torque is 316N.m, and the maximum speed can reach 16000rpm. Lithium iron phosphate blade batteries are better than ordinary ternary lithium-ion batteries in terms of safety and charge and discharge times. Depending on the endurance version, the battery capacity is 8.3 and 21.5kWh respectively, and the corresponding pure electric cruising range is 52 and respectively. 112 kilometers. Moreover, this power battery uses a large battery cell and no module design. The honeycomb-like aluminum plate structure has higher strength and safety, and the structure is more compact, which brings higher energy density. In fact, in this plug-in hybrid system, the engine is no longer the dominant one. It only needs to be responsible for improving the thermal efficiency in the high-efficiency operating conditions, while in the low-efficiency operating conditions of the engine, the electric power will be insufficient. Tang DM-i is divided into four output modes: engine direct drive, HEV parallel, HEV series, and EV pure electric. It has economic, conventional and sports combinations to adapt to the performance of the vehicle in different working conditions and power requirements. Tang DM-i’s dynamic response is still quite direct and smooth, and the start is light. Although the acceleration is not as simple and rough as the DM version, it has a very positive response to the driver’s accelerator pedal regardless of whether it is starting or accelerating midway. Of course, the power performance is also closely related to the amount of power. If the battery power is less than 20%, the engine must also charge the battery pack while providing power, and the acceleration capacity will indeed be compromised. The acceleration time of the two pure electric range models of 52 km and 112 km from 0-100 km is 8.7 and 8.5 seconds respectively. The fuel consumption in the power-deficient state is 5.3 and 5.5 liters respectively, and the comprehensive range is 1010 and 1050 km respectively. The electronic power steering can be adjusted in two levels. The comfort mode is actually more suitable, and the sports mode will look a little heavy. The adjustment of the chassis is very textured and comfortable, but it is not blindly soft. Perhaps to a certain extent, we can regard the Tang DM-i as the performance weakened and economically improved version of the previous DM version. Compared with the Tang DM that broke a hundred in 4.3 seconds, its engine was changed from 2.0T to 1.5T. , No longer provide four-wheel drive system and variable damping suspension, the power is weakened a lot, but both fuel economy and cruising range have been improved, and the price will be much cheaper. It can be said that the product is more powerful Balanced. At the same time, the blade battery can also support fast charging, which can be charged from 30% to 80% in half an hour. Isn’t it delicious? Moreover, the convenience of oil and electricity can make it meet the city commute like an electric car, and will not be unable to travel far because of mileage anxiety, thereby meeting the needs of more scenarios. It can also be used for new energy licenses in most cities. It can be said that it combines the many advantages of fuel vehicles and electric vehicles in one. BYD Tang DM-i will be officially listed at the Shanghai Auto Show soon, and we will wait and see the official price.
