After more than a year of “lowering the prize” for restoration, recently the Thanh Toan tile-roofed bridge has completed the process of embellishment and conservation, and was officially handed over to the people and Hue city for use. Bringing the typical beauty of the peaceful picture of Hue countryside, Thanh Toan tile bridge is now located in Thanh Thuy Chanh village, Thuy Thanh commune, Huong Thuy town. This is an ancient bridge of great architectural and cultural value, especially rare because the real art value is ranked among the highest among all ancient bridges in Vietnam. Thanh Toan tile-roofed bridge was built according to the architecture of “upper family, Ha Kieu”, on the house and under the bridge, both acting as a bridge over the river, and as a resting place for pedestrians, a unique form of traffic in Vietnam. world. In Vietnam today, in addition to Thanh Toan tile bridge, there are a few bridges with similar architecture, such as Chua Cau (Hoi An), tile bridge in Hai Anh commune (Hai Hau, Nam Dinh), Phat Diem tile bridge (Hoi An). Thanh Toan tile-roofed bridge was built in 1776, so far it is 245 years old, with the original size of 18.75m in length and 5.82m in width. After four previous restorations and the influence of time, nature and war, the bridge today is only 16.85m long and 4.63m wide. The “superior” architecture of the bridge makes people think of a house with a roof covered with lapis lazuli. Below is divided into seven compartments with the layout like seven compartments in a large house. Each space has two wooden platforms and two railings to sit back, both a chair for people to stop and a counter to rest when needed. In the middle is the worshiping hall of Tran Thi Dao, who made a great contribution to building this bridge. Legend has it that she is a descendant of the Tran family whose husband was a mandarin under King Le Hien Tong. In order to pray, she spent her own money to bless the villagers by building a tiled bridge, helping people in the region and Foreign guests are both convenient to travel and have a place to rest. The countryside market of Thanh Thuy Chanh village, where the roof of the communal house is covered by ancient banyan trees, is located right next to the Thanh Toan tiled bridge, all blending together into a beautiful picture of Hue’s countryside.
