Son La province currently has more than 1,000 hectares of fruit trees of all kinds being applied technical measures to flower and spread fruit, helping to sell 2-3 times higher than the main season.
As in 2020, when harvested, mango fruit has a price of 8,000 – 12,000 VND / kg, while late ripe fruit has a price of 20,000-25,000 VND / kg; longan from 8,000 – 10,000 / kg when the main season, the late season costs from 18,000 – 20,000 VND / kg.
Thanks to his creativity to break flowers to create different flowering phases, the 7-hectare mango garden of Mr. Nguyen Huong Long, Chieng Xuan commune, Van Ho district always produces big and small fruits.
With nearly 80,000 hectares of fruit trees, with an output of more than 336,000 tons / year, when the area of fruit trees expands the harvesting and consumption of the products at the same time, it will lead to “good season, price loss”. Along with enhancing trade promotion, expanding markets, investing in deep processing, the application of technical measures to spread crops, prolong the harvest time of fruit trees is an effective solution.
According to the recommendations of the Plant Protection Department of Son La province, in order to improve efficiency, farmers should rotate fruit tree production in a reasonable manner, not continuously on an area. Localities need to link up to achieve sustainable efficiency, avoiding the situation of concentrating duplicate production at the same time affecting output prices when harvested./.
