With fresh and unspoiled nature, Phu Quy Island (Binh Thuan) is a picnic destination that attracts young people to check-in this summer.
Camping is a keyword that has attracted the attention of the traveling community recently. Camping sites possessing a quiet space, pristine scenery, less affected by tourism services, are more popular than ever.

Phu Quy island or Thu and Khoai Xu islands are attractive rendezvous for you to temporarily put aside the hustle and bustle of urban life and immerse yourself in the nature of the sunny and windy sea. The clear blue bay with a view to the bottom, the island without tourist fees, cheap seafood, and gentle locals are the factors that attract visitors to the “green pearl” of Binh Thuan. Reader Tien Ti Ton shared a memorable camping trip with a group of 7 friends on Phu Quy island for 3 days and 2 nights. Phu Quy has a different beauty compared to the islands of Vietnam. Move Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet: You can take a bus to the coastal city of Phan Thiet, the travel time is about 4 hours. Because we want to be proactive about the time as well as enjoy the scenery along the way, our group chose motorbikes as a means of transportation. Phan Thiet to Phu Quy Island: There are many shipping lines for you to choose to move to the island such as Phu Quy Express, Superdong, Phu Quy Island… We choose the Superdong train, take VIP seats and return to normal seats to have a variety of experiences. However, I think it’s better to take the VIP seat because the cabin is quite quiet, served with filtered water, cold towels and a recliner. Meanwhile, the normal class is the seat, which is quite hot. Those who go to the island on the weekend should book tickets from 2 weeks to 1 month in advance because the train often runs out of seats early. After more than 2 hours floating on the immense sea, the group arrived on Phu Quy island. Visitors can easily record beautiful frames on Phu Quy island. Stay There are many motels and hotels on Phu Quy island. However, the quality of tourist services is not equal to those of high-class accommodation in big cities. The plus point is that the rooms are clean and the prices are quite reasonable, ranging from 300,000 to 400,000 VND/night. We stopped at My Nhat guesthouse. The owner is quite enthusiastic, friendly, the room is newly built and clean. Price for double room is 400,000 VND and single room is 300,000 VND. We also rent motorbikes here for 100,000 VND/day. The accommodation has a seafood barn and sells milk tea, so it is very convenient for eating and drinking. Play schedule Because we want to have more time to rest, our group departs from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet at 19:00 on Friday evening. Guests can rent overnight accommodation near the pier, convenient to Phu Quy island the next morning. If going on a weekend, you need to make a reservation in advance to secure your spot. Our group chose Hanh Huong motel, rented a dormitory room for 600,000 VND/night for 7 people. The host is enthusiastic and cares about us throughout our dining journey in Phu Quy. Day 1 The group had a light breakfast, then at 6:30 a.m. depart for the pier. Because we had completed medical declaration procedures and bought train tickets in advance, after sending our motorbikes, we were able to get on the train right away, starting the journey to discover Phu Quy. The group arrived at the island at 9:15. Someone picked up their group at the wharf and took motorbikes to move on the island. After that, the group moved to the motel near the shipping dock. Since we intend to camp on the island, we went to the Residency Committee. Phu Quy is a military island, visitors who want to camp should ask the motel for a permit first. Visitors need to keep the common hygiene, should not make campfires, bustling activities, noisy on the island. After that, we went to Hoa Thuong hot beef restaurant for lunch. The space is airy, even though the restaurant is crowded, the food is also quite good. After lunch, we went to Sea Wind coffee. The shop is located near the 7-color stone beach, cool sea view, suitable for escaping the summer afternoon heat. The group visited the Phu Quy rafting village to buy seafood. Phu Quy is famous for delicious, nutritious and cheap seafood. We bought nearly 2 kg of squid leaves, oysters, crabs, sea urchins, all for only 1.3 million VND. Cao Cat Mountain is the next stop in the entertainment journey in Phu Quy. Admiring the stacked cliffs or checking-in to the ancient Linh Son pagoda on the top of the mountain are unforgettable experiences here. Cao Cat Mountain possesses steep cliffs with strange shapes. Sunset fell, the group decided to watch the sun set at Long Vi. After that, we moved to the accommodation, processed seafood and washed to go to the campsite. Trieu Duong Bay and Phut slope have registered campers. Therefore, we planted it at Small Beach. The view here is quite chill, we can see the sunrise right in front of our eyes in the morning, especially there is no phone signal, so we feel separate from the noisy city. However, the way to Bai Nho has to walk quite hard. We were fortunate to have a local friend guide us, so the schedule was quite convenient. After setting up camp, we grilled seafood, enjoyed homemade dinner together. Eat, drink, talk until about 10 pm, the whole association cleans up, looks at the stars and goes to the tent to rest. Friends camping on Phu Quy island. Day 2 We got up early to catch the sunrise but that day there were quite a lot of clouds, we couldn’t hunt the sunrise. Around 6 o’clock, the group cleaned up the tent and garbage, then went back to the motel to put things and take a shower. After that, we have breakfast and coffee at the property. Trieu Duong Bay is the first check-in point of the new day. It has a wide beach, white sand, stretches to the top with clear blue sea, suitable for swimming, camping or picnicking. However, the scenery was not too special, so we only visited for a short time. The group continued to check-in the Phu Quy flagpole. The flagpole on Phu Quy island represents Vietnam’s territorial sovereignty. From here, you can take in the view of the emerald green bay, fine sand and undulating cliffs. Next, we stopped at Ganh Hang, Infinity Lake and Sung Sung slot. The check-in cluster is favored by paparazzi and backpackers because of its many magical image angles. The road here is a bit difficult to go, but the picturesque scenery will not let you down. Phu Quy Island has many check-in points for visitors to experience. At noon, we went back to the motel, helped by the owner to cook. After that, the group took a lunch break to refuel for the afternoon exploration of Hon Tranh. 14:00, Hon Tranh tour guide arrives at the guesthouse to pick up the group. Hon Tranh is about 3 km from Phu Quy island, so the group only takes about 15 minutes to move. This is a military base to protect the important sovereignty of the sea and islands of Binh Thuan waters. In recent years, tourism in Phu Quy has grown more and more, attracting tourists to explore this beautiful island. The wild beauty of Hon Tranh attracts tourists. On the canoe, visitors will be able to fish with a line according to the instructions. However, there was a member who was seasick and that day the sea was rough, so the fishing time was not much. The weather was hot and sunny, the group only checked-in a few beautiful places in Hon Tranh. Swimming, boating, diving to see corals, and going out with fishermen to catch and process seafood on boats are popular activities on the island. We decided to paddle SUP, watch the sunset, enjoy the fresh air here. After a long day with many interesting experiences, the group went home, took a cool bath, rested, then bought a seafood hot pot at Mesh Sea Food and went home to eat. After eating and drinking, all packed their luggage to return to the mainland the next day. Day 3 The ship had a tidal problem, so it departed at 11am. So, on the last morning on Phu Quy island, we decided to go to Phiet slope and rock beach to watch the sunrise. Sunrise at Phot slope. After that, everyone went to eat meat vermicelli, fried vermicelli, and banh chung, even at the crossroads entering the port. The noodles at the restaurant are quite delicious. Spinach jelly is a strange dish not to be missed here. After that, we moved to Teacher’s Tomb. There are artificial lakes on the sea with unique architecture, which are the background in the frames taken by young people. Teacher’s grave is a favorite check-in point for young people. Phong Dien is the next check-in point. The fans here are built to generate electricity to serve the people on the island. The road to visit is quite impressive, the two sides are the sea and the poplar trees casting shadows on the path. Next, the group stopped at the wall to check-in Phu Quy island and the 7-color embankment. The vibrant colors spread along the embankment are ideal suggestions for creating virtual live images. At the same time, visitors can come here for a walk, enjoy the wind or catch the sunset. The embankment attracts visitors to check-in in Phu Quy. Khe Sung Sung in Ganh Hang is the last stop in the journey to discover Phu Quy island. The group came here to swim, relax, then return to the motel, pack up the pier. Arriving at Phan Thiet pier, the group took a motorbike, then stopped at Hoa Giay cafe to rest. Near 3pm, we went to Banh Canh Gai shop on Tran Hung Dao street to satisfy our hungry stomach. After eating and drinking, we returned to Ho Chi Minh City, ending this interesting trip.
