Elon Reeve Musk FRS (born June 28, 1971), is a South African-American engineer, industrial designer, inventor, technology entrepreneur and philanthropist. Musk is the founder, CEO, and chief engineer/designer of SpaceX; original investor, CEO and product architect of Tesla, founder of The Boring Company, co-founder of Neuralink, co-founder and original co-chairman of OpenAI.

Here, he holds the position of CEO and chief designer. Musk joins Tesla Motors, Inc. (now Tesla, Inc.), an electric vehicle maker in 2004, a year after the company was founded and became its CEO and product architect. In 2006, he helped found SolarCity, a solar energy services company (now a subsidiary of Tesla). In 2015, Musk co-founded OpenAI, a nonprofit research company that aims to promote friendly artificial intelligence. In July 2016, he co-founded Neuralink, a technology company focused on developing intellectual computer interfaces. In December 2016, Musk founded The Boring Company, an infrastructure and tunneling company focused on tunnels optimized for electric vehicles.
