As the saying goes, relying on the mountains to eat the mountains, relying on the sea to eat the sea.
For thousands of years, people living by the sea have already mastered the laws of fishing at high tide and driving the sea at low tide. They rely on the sea to make a living and obtain various resources from the sea. It is precisely because of their existence that more people can be lucky enough to eat the freshest delicacy from the depths of the ocean.

Throughout the historical evolution, this is the most vivid part of marine culture, and it is also the epitome of the times. In such a village, because it relies on the sea, the villagers make a living by catching fish, shrimp, and snails from the shallow sea. Unfortunately, they have always been poor and backward. It was not until 1985 that the villagers created a new way to develop marine fishing, which turned the entire village into one of the richest fishing villages in the province. This is the place we are going to today—Jip Village. At first glance, do you think the name is weird? In fact, chicken p means village, p is pronounced nǎ, chicken p means hen. The village is called this name, not because there are many hens, but because there is a hen-shaped mountain behind the village. The villagers named Jip Village in order to protect their children and grandchildren from the Xingcun Wang tribe. Jip Village is located in Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, on the south bank of the mouth of the Jianshanzui of the Zhit River, the mother river of Yangxi. I have introduced the city of Yangjiang several times before. Many people have heard of Yangjiang because of the 800-year-old Song Dynasty shipwreck “Nanhai No. 1”. As a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province and a city in the metropolitan area on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary, Yangjiang has a very advantageous geographical location, with mountains and seas, and beautiful scenery. Jip Village is a small fishing village in Yangjiang, 10 kilometers away from Yangxi County. There is a natural haven, so the fisherman’s style is particularly strong. In the early years, Jip Village was only a poor and backward pure fishery natural village. The villagers enjoyed the ordinary life and were accustomed to the ordinary life. The fishery in the village is dominated by artificial sculling boats, sailing boats, and paddle boats. They go to shallow seas and Yangbian rivers to fish, shrimp, and snails. Not to mention hard work, and I can’t make much money. In 1985, the fishery in Jip village ushered in a development. A pair of Lin brothers in the village mobilized the villagers to cooperate in buying boats in the form of a shareholding system, and mobilized other villagers who could not afford a boat to establish a fishery cooperative. They thought that since they need to rely on the sea to eat the sea, they must have strong tools. In the late 1990s, under the leadership of the Lin brothers, villagers eliminated wooden boats, purchased steel-hulled boats, and equipped with advanced fishing equipment. The far sea is their new destination, where there are more abundant sea catches. While developing marine fishing, the villagers also opened many fish processing plants. This makes the economy of the entire village continue to grow, and their lives are getting better and better. Up to now, there are only 104 households in Jip Village with less than 500 people. It has 111 modern fishing boats, with an annual marine catch output of 26,000 tons, an output value of 185 million yuan, and an annual profit of 38.8 million yuan. What an amazing number this is. Can you imagine? Even in first-tier cities, an annual salary of one million is not easy. In this seaside fishing village, the average annual income of the villagers reached 130,000 yuan, of which 12 households had an annual income of more than 1 million yuan. As life becomes more and more prosperous, Jiplang Village is also digging deep into the culture of sea farming, making the village an Internet celebrity village for tourists to check in. Looking around, the straight asphalt road is lined with trees and the distant mountains are towering. Before entering Jiplang Village, I can already feel the vitality of the new countryside and the charm of the fisherman’s family. Walking into the village, I saw that the village road was spacious and clean, and there were scattered houses everywhere. These dwellings are also very special. The upper and lower floors are made of different building materials, which actually mix and match to create a sense of beauty. Several green trees dotted it, adding some vitality and vitality. Many details of the village can reflect the ocean theme, such as the murals on the houses. You see, here is the scene of two ships sailing away. Although these murals do not have high drawing skills, it is rare that they are simple and moving. There are also displays of three generations of dwellings in the village. The dwellings of each era have their own architectural features, from which the imprints of the changes of the times can be found. Passing a long wooden trestle bridge, there are clear water on both sides. The water lilies on the water have not yet opened. If it is summer, it must be another gorgeous scene. You can also meet up with three or two friends, sit on the platform by the water to blow the air, chat, and taste delicious food. This is the comfort and freedom that belongs to Jip Village alone. There are two places in the village, you can visit them specially. One is the Yujia Cultural Center. There is a wooden boat directly in the center of the museum. The wooden boat is placed on the yellow sand, creating a real sense of outdoor indoors. The museum exhibited the process of fishery development in Jip Village, and some tools used by the villagers at that time have also been preserved. It was generations of people who kept groping and heading towards the depths of the sea that brought the prosperity of Jip Village today. The significance of the Yujia Cultural Center is to give people who don’t know Jip Village an opportunity to learn about the past, and it also reminds the current villagers to never forget the past. The other is the Folklore Exhibition Hall. The exhibition hall is not big and looks very ordinary in appearance. It was remodeled with several residential houses. Walk inside, there is no other place. The quaint dwellings are full of the atmosphere of ancient times, telling the folk stories of Ji P Village. The mottled walls are precious texts and pictures, but the entire exhibition environment is a real residential house with some old objects inside. This kind of exhibition is even more shocking. From farming culture to fishery culture, we have seen the changes of the villagers as well as their persistence. Industrious spirit and courage to explore are the source of strength to support Ji P Village, and it is also the reason why Ji P Village is so charming.
