6 accelerator radiation therapy machines can perform advanced techniques, SRS/SBRT radiosurgery techniques, breathing radiotherapy, surface movement control.
On the morning of May 12, the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City said that facility 2 of the Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital (Tan Phu Ward, Thu Duc City) officially put into use 6 accelerators. The machine can perform advanced techniques, SRS/SBRT radiosurgery techniques, breathing radiotherapy, surface movement control.

Previously, on May 10, the first 6 patients received radiation therapy during the day here. After radiation therapy is indicated, the patient is taken to the radiotherapy area for simulation. The simulation area is equipped with 2 16-slice CT machines, which can perform 3D, 3D simulation techniques with contrast and RPM breathing synchronization system for high-tech 4D radiotherapy (radiotherapy). modulated according to the patient’s breathing rate). The first patient underwent CT simulation before radiation therapy at facility 2, Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital. Once the radiotherapy plan is approved by the treating physician and engineer, the data is transferred to the radiation machine to prepare the patient for radiation therapy. According to the leader of Oncology Hospital, when the professional processes and equipment system operate stably, the hospital’s facility 2 rapidly increased to receive the number of patients to the radiation treatment area. With 6 accelerated radiotherapy systems, the serving capacity of the radiotherapy area at facility 2 can accommodate 240-400 radiotherapy sessions per day. This helps to completely solve the overload of radiation therapy at the main facility of Oncology Hospital (Binh Thanh District) for decades. According to the plan, from May 19, the main facility of Oncology Hospital will continue to bring outpatients of internal block to facility 2 for further treatment and chemotherapy during the day. With a design of 100 beds, the day chemotherapy facility 2 is capable of treating 300 patients per day, reducing the number of day chemotherapy sessions by 70-80% at the main facility. Also from this time, Oncology Hospital will start to schedule appointments for patients who are being monitored after finishing chemotherapy and radiotherapy at the main facility to switch to re-examination at facility 2. According to the threading route, patients from the provinces and Thu Duc city (accounting for about 80% of day treatment patients at the main facility) will be introduced and guided to facility 2 for treatment. Particularly, the main facility is for patients in the remaining districts of Ho Chi Minh City.
