In 2020, there will be a total of 1,270 undergraduate colleges and universities across the country, an increase of 141 from 2011; 1,468 higher vocational colleges, an increase of 188 from 2011.
At the same time, the statistics of the national education industry in 2020 show that the total number of enrollment of general higher education undergraduates and junior colleges nationwide in 2020 is 9.675 million, an increase of 2.86 million from 2011.

The national education statistics in 2020 show that the gross enrollment rate of higher education has reached 54.4%. “The 14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development of the People’s Republic of China and the Outline of Long-Term Goals for 2035” mentioned that “the gross enrollment rate of higher education will be increased to 60%.”
