Miss Universe 2020 contestants are impressed by the meticulous and monumental investment in the national costume contest.

On the morning of May 14 (Vietnam time), 74 Miss Universe contestants entered the national costume contest. The representative of Albania – Paula Mehmetukaj – competed in the first contest with the outfit “Queen of the Earth and the sky”. The design has a long red skirt that symbolizes blood vessels, combined with small crystal stones – the so-called underground treasures. Mehmetukaj says she’s like an eagle spreading her wings in this outfit. The Australian beauty wears a black swan costume, which at first glance is simple but weighs nearly 9 kg and has 105 feathers made from bucket fabric. As she walked, the feathers began to rotate thanks to the small motor inside. It took over 100 hours for designer Nicola Yeung to complete this outfit. Miss Universe Barbados rocked the stage with her energetic, powerful steps. According to Missosology, the bodysuit is studded with hundreds of mirror pieces, plus the gorgeous feather skirt is a blend of sun, sea and sand images. Miss Universe contestants have meticulously prepared, monumental about national costumes. Contrary to 2019, the stage this season has an investment, is more spacious, and allows the girls to express themselves. Representatives of Colombia (left) and Costa Rica are two heavyweights of the Americas region. The national costume contest took place only a few hours after the closed interview round, but the girls still kept their confidence and showed their best in front of the judges. Appearing in a traditional sari, the Indian representative was warmly cheered. Since the start of the contest, this beauty has always been on the list of the best candidates for the crown. The same idea is birds, but the costumes of the contestants all bring the beauty and characteristics of their own country. Francisca Luhong James – representative of Malaysia – brought the model of the Kampung house on stage. The national costume weighs 45 kg, so James had to ask 2 more backstage staff to assist. Her performance took up about 3 minutes. Miss Universe Myanmar caused emotions with a simple appearance with the message “Pray for Myanmar”. She joined Miss Universe with only 3 suitcases but lost it. The beauty had no clothes to wear and had to ask for help from other contestants. Miss Universe Venezuela wore beautiful and sophisticated costumes, but disappointed because of the boring performance. As the last performer, Miss Khanh Van opened the cocoon, appeared charismatic with flexible catwalk steps and the highlight was a rhythmic swing. Before G, she had a problem with the supporting frame and cocoon, fortunately Khanh Van fixed it in time to step out on stage.
