An’s House is considered a traditional-style house in the Southern countryside in the context of an increasingly urbanized place.
An’s House is a house located on the border between Cu Chi district (Ho Chi Minh City) and Tay Ninh province – a developing rural area, there are many changes in farming form and a series of high-tech industrial zones appear. Among a series of modern tube houses, An’s House stands out when it comes to a very different whole. Designed for a 3-generation family, with the desire that the child will preserve and inherit the 30-year-old home of the ancestors, and have more places where grandparents, parents and descendants reunite on weekends. The exterior is covered with red bricks – a material familiar to the Vietnamese. The space of An’s House is developed according to the traditional house layout including the ancestral church (reconstructed from the old house from the 1980s) and the living house is connected by a corridor, separated by a lake. The tiled roof is designed in a steep traditional architectural style of the Southern countryside. This design both enhances the aesthetics and helps to cool down, creates an airy, well-ventilated space and helps to drain well. Kitchen and dining room are the transition area between the altar and the common area. The hallway and living room is an open space inside, connecting to the bedrooms of grandparents, parents and grandchildren. The church room has a 3-room house design with main Vietnamese materials such as wood, familiar red-baked brick floors. The bedroom still retains the necessary privacy and connects with common spaces such as corridors, lakes, courtyards, dining rooms, and kitchens to create close communication spaces between members. Most of the wooden furniture in the house is more than half a century old. Photo source: Quang Tran Video: House 25m2- the opportunity to have a house for many people? Source: VTV24
