Renovating the organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation

Recently, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong signed Resolution No. 02 of the Politburo on reforming the organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation.

The resolution sets out specific goals by 2025, striving to have 13.5 million trade union members, most enterprises with 25 workers, or more employees have trade unions, by 2023 strive to have 12 million unions. tablets; strive for 80% or more of enterprises and units with trade unions to sign collective labor agreements, reaching more than 70% by 2023. By 2030, strive to have 16.5 million union members; where there is no representative organization of workers, the majority of employees can gather and participate in some activities of Vietnamese trade unions; strive for 85% or more of enterprises and units with trade unions to sign collective labor agreements. By 2045, most of the employees at the grassroots are Vietnamese trade union members; 99% of enterprises and units with trade unions have signed collective labor agreements. In order to achieve the set objectives, the resolution establishes 6 main groups of tasks and solutions. These are: Innovating and improving the efficiency of gathering and mobilizing union members and employees, focusing on developing grassroots union members and unions; continue to arrange and perfect the organizational model, build a contingent of professional college cadres, qualified and capable to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation; renovating the contents and methods of college activities to meet the requirements of the new situation. Besides, building strong enough financial resources to perform well the functions and tasks of the trade union; strengthen the leadership of the Party over the organization and activities of the trade union; perfecting policies and laws, strengthening and improving the efficiency of coordination between state agencies, the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, economic organizations, and social organizations with trade unions.
