The Smart Urban Operations Center will deploy 12 cameras in the area of Ninh Kieu and Cai Rang districts, to assist in handling traffic safety and security issues.
At the end of April, Can Tho City People’s Committee opened the Smart City Operation Center (IOC). Mr. Huynh Hoang Men, Director of the Department of Information and Communications of Can Tho City, said that the IOC includes the Intelligent Command Center, which has been piloted in eight areas: monitoring, managing reporting indicators, and business statistics. socio-economic; monitoring the performance of the government; monitoring security and order (security) and traffic safety (traffic safety); tourism management supervision; monitoring service interaction, people’s feedback (through the public service switchboard 1022); monitoring information on the network environment; monitoring and warning of environmental quality; network information security monitoring.
Accordingly, the IOC will install 12 cameras in the two districts of Ninh Kieu and Cai Rang to assist in handling traffic safety and security issues. The system will automatically recognize faces, detect suspicious cases appearing in the monitoring area, and issue warnings for competent forces to handle. The system also supports automatic detection of security threats and infrastructure failures; support synthesis, statistics of object detection, number of security warnings. In addition, through the recorded camera data, the system will analyze the traffic flow to forecast traffic jams, determine the route and time frame where congestion may occur… IOC uses modern platforms for data integration, connection, analysis and processing such as: Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data (Big Data), internet of things (IoT), geospatial data (GIS), cloud computing (Cloud Computing). Information for the system will be updated by the departments and branches on the spot, through the shared platform software set up by VNPT, to be transferred to the general server system and then uploaded to the IOC. 
Intelligent Command Center of the IOC is located at the Office of the People’s Committee of Can Tho City Mr. Tran Viet Truong, Chairman of Can Tho City People’s Committee, commented: “The birth of the IOC is an important turning point as a basis for Can Tho to develop into a smart city. This is the place to collect and synthesize information. of the city in all fields, helping the city’s leaders direct and run activities with the motto of taking people and businesses as the center”. It can be said that the IOC is like a “magic eye”, not only monitoring traffic safety, but also creating opportunities for people to participate in monitoring the activities of local authorities. People will be enhanced to serve with interactive facilities and channels such as “Public Service Switchboard 1022”; mobile applications and social networks to mobilize all resources to contribute to the socio-economic development of Can Tho city quickly and sustainably. “People can call the IOC’s 1022 switchboard to reflect, the information will be transferred to relevant units for immediate settlement. In the near future, Can Tho will design more applications (apps) so that people can reflected in pictures,” said Mr. Huynh Hoang Men. COMPANY UNIT
