Nowadays, bonsai art is becoming more and more popular, and many people are starting to raise bonsai at home.
To a certain extent, bonsai can be shrunk to an inch, small and large, moving the beautiful outdoor landscape into a small indoor space. Savour carefully, full of artistic conception.

As one of China’s outstanding traditional arts, bonsai is also known as “three-dimensional painting” and “silent poetry”.

However, for many beginners, it takes certain skills and accomplishments to make an exquisite bonsai. Skills are easy to learn, but the key difficulty lies in literacy. This cannot be done overnight, it requires bit by bit accumulation.

Today, I will take you to Yangzhou Bonsai Garden, a classical garden where thousands of fine bonsais are displayed.

The city of Yangzhou is really suitable for the temperament of classical gardens.

Yangzhou, which faces the Yangtze River in the south and the Grand Canal in the Spring and Autumn Period in the east, can be traced back to 486 BC. The beauty of its scenery, the wonders of scenery, and the prosperity of culture have made poets extremely concerned about and lingering about it.

“There are three bright moon nights in the world, and the two rogues are Yangzhou”; “The old man quits the Yellow Crane Tower to the west, and the fireworks go down to Yangzhou in March”; “Just ask the partners in Jiangnan, who is like me and drunk in Yangzhou” … countless poems singing the beauty of Yangzhou, Fresh or tactful, it has been passed down for thousands of years. Of all the cities in China, Yangzhou may only be so special.

In Yangzhou Slender West Lake Scenic Area, there is a bonsai garden. This is a professional bonsai garden of one of the five major schools of bonsai in China. It has the characteristics of “different levels, strict and stable”, “three bends in one inch”, and the shape of “clouds”, which is amazing.

The predecessor of the bonsai garden was the Guyun Garden in the early Qing Dynasty. It is a pity that I haven’t found much information about this garden.

The current bonsai garden was opened to the public in 1986 and covers an area of about 5 hectares. It mainly includes four scenic spots: “Juanshidongtian”, “Xiyuan Qushui” and “Hongqiao Repair”. Another scenic spot, “Green Yangcheng Guo” has not been restored.

In addition, there are more than 40 ancient bonsais in the bonsai garden, many of which are unique in shape and exquisite craftsmanship, which are very precious. Most people come for these bonsais, but in fact, just looking at the garden itself is also extremely beautiful.

In the early spring of March and April, the bonsai garden is full of gorgeous flowers.

Look, there is a wooden boat parked by the winding river. The willow trees on the shore just sprouted and swayed gently in the breeze, and the strands of green were rendered just right. In front of the willow tree, there are three or two peach blossoms, one peach-pink piled up on the branches. One green and one red, set off each other, spring intoxicating.

Here, the naughty branches and leaves are slanting out, the full flowers are particularly eye-catching, and the background buildings are full of primitive connotations.

The first in the middle of the park is “Juanshidongtian”. The whole attraction is connected by water inside and outside, and connected by a long corridor.

“Juanshidongtian” is one of the twenty-four scenic spots in the northern suburbs of Qianlong. The name comes from the “Book of Rites”: “Today’s Fushan, there are so many stones in one scroll, and its vast vegetation, where animals and animals live, and treasures .It means to build a cave house where gods live with a stone like a fist.

Therefore, the most worth seeing of Juanshidongtian is the outdoor rockery. The mountains and rivers here are interdependent, with strange mountains, strange rocks, and quiet caves. The caves return from the peaks and the clear springs revolve, just like a fairyland. You can enjoy the wonder of “there is a hole in the hole, there is sky in the hole; there are holes in the water, there is sky in the water”.

The central and western part of the park is the “Xiyuan Qushui”, where the waters of the Slender West Lake and the South Lake and the Beicheng River meet, so this place wins with water. Along the water along the road are characteristic buildings of the Ming and Qing dynasties. There are Songchu Hall, Xuanluo Water Pavilion, Fuliu Pavilion, Nanyi Shifang, Huanxiang Pavilion and so on.

The central and southern part of the park is the “Hongqiao Renovation”, which is the former site of the “Hongqiao Garden”. During the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, Wang Shizhen, an official of Yangzhou, once repaired the Hongqiao here, leaving behind the famous “Yechun Quatrains”. Under the blue sky, the black and white buildings are extremely simple, and the flying corners of the canopy are smooth, and you almost have to wonder if you have crossed.

When you walk around in the bonsai garden, you can feel the endless variety of landscaping methods in Jiangnan gardens. The curving cobblestone road is facing a low wall, outside the wall is the unstoppable dense spring.

The stone steps between the bamboo forests seem to be walking in spring in the mountains. Even the breeze brings the freshness of bamboo.

Although the stone-built tunnel is a bit depressing, at the end is the opening of another village.

If you have enough leisure, you can also take a cruise to visit the bonsai garden.

The magnificent painting boat drove smoothly on the water, and the scenery on both sides rushed to people’s eyes through the windows. The green trees and red flowers are full of vitality. After a long time, you will be infected by this liveliness.

Don’t forget, the focus of the bonsai garden is naturally bonsai.

Yangpai bonsai has a long history and unique style, and is listed as one of the five major schools of bonsai in China. The boutique area in the bonsai garden displays more than a thousand bonsai pots, including past award-winning bonsai works, and even several pairs of bonsai from the Qing Dynasty.

As a professional bonsai garden, Yangzhou bonsai garden is as famous as Xiyuan in Guangzhou, Du Fu Thatched Cottage in Sichuan, Longhua Botanical Garden in Shanghai, and Wanjing Villa in Suzhou. They are decorated with ancient and elegant works of art.

When you look through the flower windows on the white wall and see a pot of unique bonsai, even if the size is not large, you can still use your imagination and associate it with many stories. This special landscaping method consciously “borrows” the scenery outside the window into the scope of the view inside the window, plus the unique lines of the bonsai itself, which together constitute the charm of Yangzhou Bonsai Garden.

The bonsai garden is now open for free, so many Yangzhou locals like to come here and enjoy the comfort of life.

The sword-dancing mother is brave and brave, and her limbs are so flexible that she can’t tell her age. The long sword cut through the air, leaving beautiful curves.

Here the uncles formed a folk band, and the melodious music can be heard far away, echoing in the bonsai garden.

The pipa, the erhu…the traditional Chinese musical instruments turned into touching notes in their hands, and they combined with the scenery of the bonsai garden, which made people feel relaxed. I really envy them that even though they are old, they still enjoy the state of life.

After walking through the bonsai garden, I suddenly felt that Jiangnan gardens can really be so beautiful, you should take a look at it yourself.
